Amen. Turn to the Gospel of Mark,
Chapter 5, would you? Mark, Chapter 5, would you stand
for the reading of God's Word? What a great crowd on a Monday
night. Is this Monday? Is this Monday?
What a great crowd on any night. Amen. Everywhere we turn, all
kinds of buildings. Casinos are full. The malls are full. Amen. Walmart's full. I'm glad the church house is
full tonight. Mark chapter 5. Are you there? Let's go to verse
21. Everybody say 21. And when Jesus passed by over
again by a ship on the other side, much people gathered under
him, and he was nigh unto the sea. And behold, there cometh
one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus, by name. And when he
saw me, fell at his feet, and besought him greatly, saying, My little
daughter lieth at the point of death. I pray thee, come and
lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed, and she shall
live. Jesus went with him, and much people followed him and
thronged him. And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve
years, and had suffered many things of many physicians, and
had spent all that she had, and was nothing better, but rather
grew worse, when she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind,
and touched his garment. For she said, if I may touch
but his clothes, I shall behold. And straightway, would you say
that word, straightway? Straightway. The fountain of
her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was
healed of that plague. Jesus, immediately knowing in himself
that virtue had gone out of him, Turned him about in the press
and said, who touched my clothes? And his disciples said unto him,
thou seest a multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, who touched
me? And he looked round about to see her that had done this
thing. But the woman, fearing and trembling, knowing what was
done in her, came and fell down before him and told him all the
truth. And he said unto her, daughter, thy faith, it made
thee whole. Go in peace. And, behold, did
I pray, while they yet spake, that came from the ruler of the
synagogue's house, certain which said, Thy daughter is dead, why
troublest thou the master any further? And as soon as Jesus
heard the word was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue,
Be not afraid, only believe. And he suffered no man to follow
him, save Peter and James, and John the brother of James. And
he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth
the two more. And them that wept and wailed greatly, and when
he was come in, he saith unto them, why make ye this a-doin'
weep? The damsel is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed
him to scorn, but when he had put them all out, he had taken
the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were
with him, and entering in where the damsel was lying, and he
took the damsel by the hand and said unto her, Talitha Kumai,
which is being interpreted, damsel, I say unto thee, arise. And straightway,
there it is again, The damsel rose and walked, for she was
of the age of 12 years, and they were astonished with a great
astonishment. And he charged them straightly that no man should
know it, and commanded that something should be given her to eat. Let the church say amen. Amen.
Our Father, in the name of Jesus, we thank you. We come tonight
bowing before you, pleading that you would add thy blessing to
the reading of your word. As your vessel tonight, I'm asking
you to cleanse me of sin, empty me of self and fill me with your
spirit. I know that is in my flesh dwelleth no good thing,
which means you don't need me. But I know how badly I need you. So Father God, I pray God that
you'd give me what I need. that you would not allow me to
lean on my own strength or to my own understanding, but that
I might acknowledge you in all my ways so that you can direct
my path. Now, Lord, we know that the devil knows that this meeting
is going on, and he would do anything he could to distract
us, to derail us, to deter us from the task ahead. So we ask
that you bind him, put a hedge of protection about this place
that in no way he'd hinder the work of the Holy Ghost of God.
Now, Father God tonight, would you watch over my sons wherever
they are, keep them safe and their eyes on you. And would
you tabernacle with us as we're here tonight. Now for what you
do, we'll give you the glory. We don't deserve it and we can't
handle it. So we'll give it all to you.
And we'll ask that you do what only you can do. In the mighty
name of Jesus, we pray. Amen, amen. You may be seated.
Thank you for standing. I'd love to trouble someone for
some water if I may have some. Thank you. The Lord Jesus Christ
enters the region of Gadara. Thank you. And when he enters
that region, the Bible says, He is met by a crazy man. Now,
some of you are looking in the text of Mark 5 and you say, I
don't see one place in this text where it says Jesus was met by
a crazy man. Well, you conclude what you want
to conclude. I'm going to tell you what the man was doing and
what he looked like, and you decide whether or not you think
he was crazy. He was naked. Somebody say amen if that qualifies
as crazy. I mean, it's one thing being
in the shower. It's another thing to be running around outside
naked. He slept in the cemetery. How we doing? That qualifies
being crazy? He got chained up, broke loose.
Now are you still offended by my calling him crazy or would
you agree with me he's a crazy man? Jesus is walking into Gadara,
the country of the Gadarenes, and he's met by a crazy man.
I'll tell you why he's doing all this stuff. He was possessed
with demons. We don't know how many, but we know when Jesus
cast the demons out, it went into a couple thousand swine,
so we have to believe that perhaps 2,000 demons were in this man.
He calls his name Legion. He's possessed by many demons.
He is off the hook. He's out of control. He cannot
be confined. He doesn't have any clothes on.
He's out of his mind. family can't do anything with
him. He is a menace to society. And into the town of a crazy
man walks the Lord Jesus Christ. Now listen, he can't be chained
down. He's sleeping in the cemeteries.
He probably can't carry on what most people would call a sane
conversation. But upon first sight, Jesus Christ. I want you to notice what this
fellow did. He ran and worshiped Him and made this statement,
What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the Most High
God? This is not the message, but
it amazes me that a crazy man naked sleeping in the cemeteries
that can't be chained down still knew that Jesus was the Son of
God. Now, We run in these cities and
towns that we live in, in these religious establishments, and
these are people that are theologians. They've been to school. They've
got degrees. They're supposedly smarter than
all of us put together, and they can't figure out who Jesus was.
But a naked man sleeping in the cemeteries, as off the hook as
he was, he knew when that man came in town, that ain't no ordinary
man. That's the Son of God. And the
next time you saw him after Jesus healed him, he was sitting, he
was clothed, and in his right mind. Say amen if Jesus changes
lives. He fell down at the feet of Jesus.
Upon leaving this crazy man, Jesus continues on, and is met
by another individual. This individual has his clothes
on. He sleeps at the house. And he doesn't have to be chained
down because he's got a pretty logical mind. He's a ruler of
the synagogue. Jairus is his name. He's a man
of prestige. He's a man of prominence. He's
probably a man of possession. But he's a man with a problem.
At the house he has a daughter that's 12 years old. She's lying
in a bed ready to die. And none of his perks will save
his daughter. So he comes to the one place
where his daughter's destiny can be changed. And although
entirely different from the crazy man that was naked sleeping in
the cemetery, amazing, two different individuals with two different
problems came to the same place to get their problems solved.
feet of Jesus. Jesus, my little daughter, lies
at the point of death. Please come to my house and heal
her that she may live. I love this phrase in Mark chapter
5 where it says, And Jesus went with him. Did you hear that?
Let me say it again. And Jesus went with him. Wasn't that mighty
kind of Jesus? Jesus went with him. Aren't you
glad that when you have a problem Jesus doesn't just send you to
get your problem fixed? Jesus goes with you. Somebody
help me now. How many of you tonight have witnessed him go
with you through your problem, with you through your sickness,
with you through your storm, with you through your trial,
with you through your difficulty, with you through your crisis,
with you through your turmoil? Aren't you glad you don't have
a dead God? Aren't you glad you don't have a statue God? Aren't
you glad that you don't have a God that used to be? Aren't
you glad that you don't have a God that's confined? Aren't
you glad that you don't have a God whose power is limited?
Aren't you glad that you have a God who has all power, but
he's willing to go with you? headed to Jairus' house to see
Jairus' daughter, Jesus, and Jairus on the move. And now Jesus
is met by a third individual. She's not a naked man sleeping
in the cemeteries, and she's not a ruler of the synagogue
with a 12-year-old daughter. She's got a 12-year-old problem. She's been hemorrhaging on the
inside of her body, and it won't stop. And she needs this problem
solved. She's different than the demoniac
and she's different than Jairus. She's got an issue of blood.
And listen to me, although different than the other two individuals,
we've got three separate individuals with three separate problems,
but they all came to the same place. Somebody hear me now.
They came to the feet of Jesus. She didn't show up that day alone
though. There were crowds around him.
And everybody was looking for something. And here comes this
woman. And the Bible says she comes
to Jesus with an issue of blood. This, as I mentioned, was a hemorrhaging
problem that was not unfamiliar to that time, nor was it unfamiliar
to Scripture. You hear of it spoken of in the Old Testament.
This was something that happened and this was something that she
couldn't fix on her own. She had an issue of blood and
the only place that that issue could be solved was at the feet
of Jesus. Now hear me now tonight. We're
seated in a building in King, North Carolina. We're in a country
called the United States of America, which is the greatest country
on earth. Aren't you glad that what we're doing tonight is not
illegal? Aren't you glad that there are no soldiers, there's
no militia, there are no government officials that are gathering
out this building and threatening us to disband, otherwise we'd
be arrested. Aren't you glad we're in a place
on a Monday night we can carry our Bibles without any shame?
Aren't you glad we can sit here and sing about a God who's always
been faithful to us? Aren't you glad we can come celebrate
the blood of Jesus tonight? Aren't you glad you can bring
your children, husbands and wives can sit together in the house
of God and get help, and get direction, and get guidance,
and get clarity. Aren't you glad that in these last days, as bad
as the world has got, we got a country where we can sit here
and hear about Almighty God. I come to tell you, whether I'm
in King, North Carolina, whether where I pastor in Northern Virginia,
just three miles south of the Pentagon, or some of these churches
that I go preach in, where it seems like I'm at the end of
the world and 10 miles past there. I'm here to tell you it really
doesn't matter where I am. Every single person in every
single place has issues. And tonight, Jubilee is going
to be what God wants it to be. And don't you want it to be that?
I'm here to tell you on this night, on this Monday night,
I've come to challenge you. I've come to encourage you. I've
come to motivate you. I've come to inspire you. I've
come to push you. I've come to charge you to take
whatever issue you have tonight and bring it to the feet of Jesus.
Listen to me tonight, I pastor people that have marital issues.
I'm pastoring people that have physical issues. I'm talking
to people tonight that have financial issues, emotional issues, relational
issues. I'm talking to people that have
bad habits. I'm talking to people that struggle with addictions.
I'm talking to people with a runaway thought life. I'm talking to
people with a dirty mouth. I'm talking to people with a
moral issue. I'm talking to people with a
modesty issue. I'm talking to people with a
hate issue. I'm talking to people with a bitterness issue. with
a pride issue. I'm talking to people with a
jealousy issue. Some of you are saying, ooh, he didn't hit mine
yet. I don't have to. The Holy Ghost is all up in your
business right now. You think I'm going to spend
all my time trying to point out your issue? I don't even have
to preach on it. Listen, Pastor, I do a marriage retreat on husbands
loving their wives, and people come up and say, thank you so
much for that message on bitterness. I never mentioned bitterness,
but the Holy Ghost did. I ain't going to waste no time
pointing out your issue. You already know what it is. My job tonight
is not to point it out. My job tonight is to tell you
what to do with it. Come on now. Somebody's got to bring your
issue to Jesus. Now listen, listen. You can't keep tucking it away.
You can't keep trying to fix it on your own. You can't keep
trying to act like it's not happening. You know how revival's gonna
come in your life tonight? You've gotta come to this old-fashioned
altar and say, if my issue's ever gonna be resolved, if this
issue's ever gonna be fixed, if my life is ever gonna be what
it needs, if I'm ever gonna live in the center of God's will,
I've gotta bring my issue to Jesus. And by the way, aren't
you glad he knows what to do with it? Tonight, she took her
issue to Jesus. Let's see what happens with her
and see what happens with us when we bring our issue to the
feet of Jesus. Notice, first of all, she brought
her issue to Jesus because she was conscious of his activity.
She was conscious of his activity. Look at verse number 27 quickly.
When she had what? Come on, talk to me. I tell the
people across Old Baptist Church, don't take the pastor's word
for nothing. Amen. He ain't right because he's a
pastor. He's right because he's preaching the word of God. Look at verse
27, when she had what? When she had what? When she had
what? She didn't have a computer. She
didn't have television. She didn't have the internet.
She didn't have a radio. But somehow she heard of Jesus.
Now the Bible doesn't tell us what she heard, but if you read
your Bible, you know what Jesus was doing. Maybe she heard he
went to a wedding, and he ran out of wine, and he turned water
into wine. Maybe she heard a man had a withered hand, and he restored
it. Maybe she heard a deaf man got his hearing back, and a mute
man got his talking back, and a blind man started seeing, and
a lame man started walking. Maybe she heard a leper got cleansed,
and a debtor got forgiven. Maybe she heard a little boy's
lunch fed 5,000 men beside him. I don't know what she heard,
but she heard enough about him to leave the house. and show
up where he was that night. And I don't know what you heard
lately. I hope you didn't come for Kenny Baldwin, Calvary Baptist
Church, or the Morrison sisters and daddy. I hope you came tonight
for Jesus tonight. Amen. Because I'm here to tell
you as much as going on in the news about this person and that
person and this thing and that thing. A lot of crime, a lot
of killing, a lot of hatred, a lot of division, a lot of people
are polarized, a lot of people on this side and that side, a
lot of political unrest. But let's not think about that
tonight. I'd like to remind you Jesus is in town. Amen. I said,
Jesus is in town. I'd sit up in service at IWU.
Teenagers, I'd pay. I wouldn't be on TikTok during
the service tonight. I wouldn't be updating my Instagram
on service tonight. I'd be listening because extra,
extra read all about it. The one who put the stars in
space and the moon in place and the sun hanging on nothing that
it never falls down. The one who took from the dust
of the ground. breathing the man's nostrils, the breath of
life, the omnipotent, all-powerful, omniscient, all-knowing, omnipresent,
everyone at the same time, the immutable, unchangeable, the
eternal one who was, who is, who is to come, the rock of my
salvation, my only firm foundation, a faithful friend who will not
change, the cornerstone who remains the same. I didn't say dead Bahamut,
I didn't say the fat Buddha, I didn't say his mama Mary, I
didn't say a pope, I didn't say a priest, and I didn't say a
cow that used to be your grandma. Jesus is in town. I'll tell you
why she showed up. Because the only one who could
do something was in her town. Listen to me. He's in King, North
Carolina. And there's a chance at revival
because Jesus is here. She was conscious of His activity.
Number two, she had completed all other alternatives. Look
at verse 26 if you would. She had completed all other alternatives
and had suffered. Listen, had suffered. She had
allowed. She had been through. She had experienced many things
as a physician. Had spent all that she had. Was
nothing better, but rather grew worse. Listen, she had been to
the medical doctors. She had tried all of the medicine.
She had spent all of her money, but she was still malignant and
getting work. You want to know why she brought her issue to
Jesus? Because nothing else worked. Can I get a witness tonight?
Come on now. You ain't all been saved for
your whole life. Come on now. You know what it
was to try other stuff that didn't work. Amen. And even as saved
people, we're still trying stuff. We're going to other people.
We're trying other things. We're leaning to our own understanding.
We expect men to fix stuff that only God can do. I'll tell you
why somebody needs to come to the altar with that addiction.
Somebody needs to bring that marriage to the altar, bring
that prodigal to the altar, bring that rebellion to the altar,
bring that guilt to the altar, bring that pride to the altar,
because nothing else you've ever tried worked. McDonald's puts
out a nasty sandwich. People pay for it and try. And
McDonald's ain't cheap no more. Michael Jordan put out ugly shoes
and people spend buku money and buy it. Jesus comes to town for
free and people gotta pray about it. She was conscious of his activity.
She had completed all other alternatives. Number three, she was committed
to accessing him. She was committed to accessing
him. Look at verse 27. When she had heard of Jesus,
she came into what? She came in depressed behind. You know what that means? She
pushed her way through. Amen. Somebody got to get serious tonight.
Listen, you going to go through another service and take your
issue back home? Didn't you? Did you come to church
yesterday? You still got your issue? How many more revivals you going
to keep that issue? I mean, nobody can pluck us out
of Jesus' hand. It shouldn't be that Jesus can't
pluck your issue out of your hand. She was committed. Listen, she
was committed. She came in the press. You know
what that means? She pushed her way through. I
wonder, Pastor, how many times she got stepped on. I wonder
how many times she got laughed at. I wonder how many times she
got looked down upon. I wonder how many times she got
criticized. Most theologians believe she probably didn't walk
that day to Jesus. She probably crawled that way.
Listen to me. She was committed to accessing Him despite her
pain. Initial blood was very uncomfortable. It was unbearable.
She was in excruciating pain. And yet she crawled and stopped
perhaps and crawled and stopped perhaps and crawled and stopped.
She was pushing her way throughout her pain. Maybe somebody getting
right with God is going to have to experience some pain. You
might have to go through some tough situations to come to the
altar. It might cost you something. It might hurt you in a little
way. It might put you through some embarrassment. But But let
me tell you something, that embarrassment is worth it to get rid of that
issue. Despite her pain, despite the perception, the Old Testament
says to have an issue of blood was an embarrassment. You had
to be put away from the rest of the people for at least seven
days with the issue of blood. I wonder how many people looked
down on her with this sickness that wasn't exactly a badge of
honor. Maybe somebody's coming to the
altar tonight, but you're worried about what people will think,
what your friends will say, what the rest of the church will say.
Who'll be looking when you walk up to the altar? They think you're
a great Christian. They look up to you. You don't
want people to know you have problems. Listen to me. Having
problems is not an isolated thing. Everybody gots problems. Listen
to me. You better come regardless of what people think about you.
Ma'am, come if your husband doesn't come. Sir, come if your wife
doesn't come. Kids, come if your parents don't come. Parents,
come if your kids don't come. Come if your pastor is looking.
Come if nobody else. Don't wait for the rest of the
crowd to go to the altar. You get to Jesus because you
need Jesus. Regardless of the pain, despite
the perception, despite the prior attempts, this could have been
an easy time for her to say, I'm sick of trying. Nothing else
works. I'm done. I give up. I meet people
all the time. They're done with church because
they've been hurt before. They're done with friendships
because they've been taken advantage of before. They're done with
giving because some people didn't take what they were giving and
use it the right way. Let me tell you something. You
may have been hurt. You may have been disappointed.
You may have gone through something you didn't expect, but I'm here
to tell you Jesus never fails. She was conscious of his activity.
She had completed all other alternatives. She was committed to accessing
him, number four. She was confident in his ability.
In the text, please. Verse 28, for she said, if I
may touch but his what? Clothes, I what? I what? I what? I what? She didn't say
I might be. I hope to be. I think I can be. What's to lose? No, that's not
what she said. She said, I shall be. I tell you what, she brought
her issue to Jesus. She was confident that He could
do something about it. Come on now. Did anybody come to church
believing He can? Did anybody come to church tonight
believing He can? He can save your marriage. He
can bring your prodigal back home. He can heal your body. He can restore your prayer life. He can give you joy unspeakable
of glory. He can get you back into serving
God. He can bring you back into the
fold. He can clean your life. He can turn you around. And by
the way, if you walked in the building tonight headed to devil's
hell, he can pick you up and turn you around and place your
feet on solid ground. He can reach down into the muck
and mire of debauchery and depravity and save your soul. You say,
how can he do it? Because after he was beaten,
bruised, belittled and brutalized, put in a borrowed tomb, Up from
the grave he arose. And if he could get up out the
grave, there's nothing for you that he cannot do. She was confident. If I get to the right place,
if I meet the right person, if I go through the right process,
I will get the right... I wish somebody would come to
the altar tonight believing he can fix my issue, he can solve
my problem, he can heal my heart, he can answer my prayer, he can
change me. I meet people all the time. The
reason why they're not good Christians is because they've given up.
They've thrown in the towel. They've lost hope. And the world
does a good job at sucking the hope out of us and painting the
most dismal, bleak, dreary pictures. I'm here to tell you I serve
a God of hope. I serve a God of possibilities.
I serve a God that there is nothing to hard for, and somebody's got
to get up out your seat, forget what everybody's thinking tonight,
and say, I'm going to meet Jesus, not because I think so, hope
so, or maybe so, but I know so. She was confident in His ability.
How about this? She was cured of her affliction. The Bible says in verse 29, in
a straight way, the fountain of her blood was dried up and
she felt in her body. She was healed of that plague. Amen,
amen. I'm telling you what, down in the South, they say she got
sure enough healed, amen. Don't you love it, don't you
love it, don't you love it when you look in your Bible and you
see Jesus do what a lot of perpetrators today are trying to do? Trying
to reenact Jesus. You can't reenact Jesus. Come
on, straight away the fountain of my blood was dried up, and
she was healed in that, of that place. I'm telling you, she was
healed instantaneously. She was healed infallibly. It
wasn't coming back. She was healed inexplicably.
You couldn't explain it. She was healed indubitably. There
was no doubt about it. She was healed in really, not
just on the outside. She was healed. Come on now.
I'm glad he's in the healing business. Amen. I didn't come
here tonight to give you motivational speaking. And by the way, I was
telling somebody the other day, this world will tell you anything
you believe in, you can do. Just say it and believe in yourself
and you put your mind to it. You can do anything. That's a
lie. That's a lie. I mean, you let the world set
you up and have you embarrassed. Anything you believe in, you
can do. All right, go ahead with your bad self. Climb up on top
of this building and believe in yourself that you can fly.
Jump off the building, flap your wing, and sing the song. I believe
I can fly. And I'm going to stand right
down there in the front of the building. While you're singing that, I'm going
to sing, I believe you can die. Listen, because, listen, listen,
listen. I don't care how much you believe you can fly. You
can't fly. It ain't going to get done because
you believe you can do it. It's going to get done because you
believe in a God that can do it. Look at me, look at me tonight.
These marriages, I'm talking about Christian folk. You've
got to be seeing it just like I am. They're under attack. Every week I'm hearing about
another marriage that was established in Jesus' name, where two believers
looked at each other and said, till death do us part. Now here's
my problem. How are they both living and breaking up? I mean, till death do us part
is not very ambiguous. I don't know, maybe I'm just
a little confused. Maybe this Dallas cowboy brain
can't perhaps process this. Till death do us part means we
gonna get married till we die. We'll stay married till we die.
Now if both of them jokers alive, they should still be married. And the devil is ripping marriages
apart. But I'm here to tell you, God
is bigger than the devil's attempts. I'm telling you, he can cure
affliction. Listen, he's already told you
what your issue is. He's already told you, listen, you're trying
to spin it and you're trying to shake it off and you're trying
to suppress it and you're trying to deny it. And listen, I'm not
against therapy. I'm not against counseling. I'm not against going
to places where you can get help, but I'm against all of it if
it takes God out of the equation. She was cured of her affliction.
Watch this now. Let me end with this. she confessed him before all. Look at verse 30, it's always
intriguing. And Jesus, knowing in himself
that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press
and said, who touched my cloak? I mean,
I would. I'm telling you, I'd pay any
amount of money to let some kind of time warp take me back to
Earth when Jesus was alive. And I'd have liked to have been
there. Just put me up in a tree somewhere. And let me look down
at this. All these people around Jesus,
and he's looking around like this. Who touched me? You know the disciples, they
were always on the wrong page one day. Remember John chapter four,
he said, my meat is to do the will of him that sent me in to
finish his work. And they're looking for a ham sandwich. That's not
the kind of meat I'm talking about. Who touched me? Listen to the disciples' response.
Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, who touched
me? In other words, saying, Lord, who touched you? All these people around
you, who didn't touch you? You know what Jesus said? But this
was a different kind of touch. Somebody touched me and took something
from me Now the only way to touch Jesus and take something from
him is to touch him with faith a whole lot of people bumped
into him You bump into G. You come to church. Listen, you
come to a good church. There's a Bible free church You can't
help but bump into Jesus Amen, all these songs about the blood
and the cross you gonna bump into Jesus But if you won't leave
here different you got to touch him on purpose Touch her face
Who touched me Who touched me? Can I tell you
something about Jesus? He never asked a question because
he didn't know the answer. Adam, Adam, where art thou? Adam, where art thou? Can you see the scene in heaven?
There's a huddle. God the Father, God the Son,
God the Holy Spirit. God the Father says, okay, I'm calling the play. We done made this dude, but we
done made him in a garden too big. Now he done sinned and we
can't find him. Jesus, you go that way. Holy
Ghost, you go that way, and I'll go that way. And the God here
went looking for an hour and came back to the huddle. All
three of them said at the same time, we can't find him. You think they didn't know where
Adam was? You think God was asking, come on, Adam, I made you too
smart, man. No, the question wasn't for God, the question
was for Adam. He wasn't asking Adam where he was to find out
where Adam was. He was asking Adam where he was to let Adam
know, you can sow up them leaves and put them all over your body
and go hide in this garden, but you can't hide from God. Simon Peter. Lovest thou me? Like a guy asking
a pretty girl out on a date. Do you think Jesus was saying,
oh no, I need him to say yes because I need somebody to preach
at Pentecost. Are you kidding me? I got two books at the end
of the New Testament. Who's gonna write them if he
says no? Listen, listen, he knew whether or not Peter loved him.
The question wasn't for Jesus, it was for Peter. Look here,
buddy, you better have more than just some butterflies in your
heart for me. They're gonna crucify you upside down. You better love
me. The question wasn't for Jesus,
it was for Peter. Now watch this. Who touched me? He knew who touched him. Jesus
didn't even have to ask the question. He could have looked at the whole
crowd of people and pointed her out and said, may the woman who
touched me levitate in the air. And you know what she would have
done? Oh, she would have gone right out. Question wasn't for him, it was
for her. Let me break it down to you in 2025 Ebonics. Who touched
me? You know what he was saying?
Girl, I'm too good to you to leave up out of here without
saying thank you. You know what the Bible says?
The woman fearing and trembling. came and told him all the truth.
Boy, I'd have liked to have been there. I mean, there's crowds
of people all gathered around, and he's flanked with these 12
disciples who don't have a clue what's going on, and all of a
sudden he announces with this big crowd of people, who touched
me, who touched me, who touched me? And emerging out of the mass
of people, here comes a woman, I don't know what she said, but
the scripture said she told him all the truth. Could I just conjecture
just a little while at what perhaps she might have said? I think
she came fearing, and you know what that means? with fear and
respect. She was in awe of him, fearing
and trembling just in the presence. She knew that whoever had just
done something for her, that he was more than just a mere
human being. So she came with fearing and
trembling and reverence and awe. and an intimidation that was
holy and that was healthy. And I can imagine she steps out
of the madness with 12 disciples, clueless as they've always been,
looking at her and a crowd of people looking for a miracle
like everybody was. And here comes this woman, yes
sir, Twelve years ago, I woke up in the morning and felt something
in my body that I hadn't felt before. I went to my primary
doctor and asked him to check me out. He gave me a prescription.
I tried it and it didn't work. I went to another doctor. He
tried something else on me. It didn't work. Tried an experimental
medicine and it didn't work. I spent all my money. I went
broke after I tried everything. As a matter of fact, I was getting
worse. But somebody told somebody to told somebody to told somebody
that that man that's been changing lives was in town, and I crawled
a little while, stopped for a break, and crawled a little while, and
stopped for a break. I got stepped on and laughed
and ridiculed and looked down on, but they said that man was
in town. A few moments ago, I got in shouting
distance of him, but I still couldn't get there. So I pushed
my way, and I pushed my way, and I pushed my way, and I pushed
my way. I didn't get close enough to
give him five. I didn't get close enough to
dap you up. I didn't get close enough to
get anointed with oil and slapped upside the head. I just touched
the bottom of your clothes. And for the first time in 12
years, I felt good again. I crawled my way here, but I'm
walking and jumping now. Jesus, thank you for changing
my life. And about this time, here come
Jairus' servants. Sir, don't trouble Jesus anymore. Your daughter's dead now. And Jesus looks at Jairus and
says to him, be not afraid. Only believe. You know what I
have to think? Faith was helped by that woman's
testimony. Now you know who's sitting in
this building tonight? A bunch of us with a bunch of issues. You know who's out there? A bunch
of people with a bunch of issues. And they're doubting whether
or not their issues can be solved. What would happen? If every Christian
left Calvary Baptist Church tonight testifying of how Jesus took
your issue and got rid of it, and somebody doubting could look
at you and say, if he did it for you, he can do it for me
too. I don't know what you got. I
don't have time to be thinking about your issue. I got my own. But I know one thing. Jesus is
in town. And in just a moment, we're going
to have what we call an invitation. Somebody say, why do we call
an invitation? Because we're inviting you. That's the difference between
a college lecture and a church service. Amen. A lecture is for
information. A message from the Lord is a
call to action. So take it home. I don't know
what your habit is at church. I don't know what you do at your
church. I don't know what you normally do. I don't know what
you got to do when you leave up out here. But I can tell you,
nothing you do when you leave here is more important than bringing
your issue to Jesus. It blows my mind how many Christians
I meet that have been carrying the same issue for years. Like, well, God knows that's
just how I am. Yeah, but he saves you to be how he is. Now, as good as he is at taking
care of you issue, he can't do anything with it till you give
it to him. In a moment, I'm calling you
to action. If you're here tonight, you never accepted Christ as
your savior. Why don't you bring your life to Jesus tonight? Lay
it at His feet. He'll take your sin and give
you His righteousness. We've all been there and done that.
Amen. And got the Holy Spirit inside
of us to prove it. I don't know what your issue
is tonight, but like Jairus, like the demoniac, and especially
like this woman, bring your issue to Jesus.
