Thy word is a lamp unto my feet
and a light unto my path. This is the Lamp and Light broadcast
coming to you from Central Baptist Church in beautiful Ocala, FL.
Lamp and Light is a ministry that takes a book of the Bible,
verse by verse, teaching it as it is, to men as they are, without
compromise or apology, while at the same time speaking the
truth in love, giving the lamp and light to all. Yesterday,
in our study of 2 Timothy chapter 4, we were talking about the
type of preaching that will be prominent in the end time. Let's
continue with that thought today. And now, here's our teacher and
radio pastor, Dr. Andy Bloom. I'm going to preach against homosexuality.
I'm going to call Islamic terrorism, Islamic terrorism. It's sin. It's murderous. It's filthy before
God. We're going to call sin, sin.
But so are the sins of the tongue, gossip, busybodies, and on we
could go down along that. And those are terrible in God's
sight. So we see that God expects us to preach the whole counsel
of God. So now look at verse 3. He says,
for the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine,
but after their own lust shall heap to themselves teachers having
itching ears. the time will come. I think he's
talking about the days before the rapture, that they will not
endure sound doctrine. Time has the idea of a season.
There's coming a time before the rapture they'll hate Bible
preaching. They'll want it shut off. I mean, they'll want to stop
it. That's why now They want Christ out of Christmas? They
don't even want the word Christmas up there anymore. That's why
they don't want you to pray in Jesus' name in any public place.
That's why they don't want you to give out a tract to anybody.
That's why, more and more, they're talking about reaching into the
churches now. And if you preach against sins
such as homosexuality, if you preach against sins of drug use
and other things, then, oh my, you have committed an abomination.
And that is abominable to the devil, but it's righteous in
God's sight. In Isaiah chapter 30 and verses
9 through 12, we see that that's what happened to Israel before
its fall. Notice. that this is a rebellious people,
lying children, children that will not hear the law of the
Lord, which say to the seers, see not, and to the prophets,
prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things,
prophesy deceits, get you out of the way, turn aside out of
the path. By the way, Jesus said the path
that we go on is straight, not gay, it's straight, and it's
narrow. Narrow. Because the Holy One
of Israel, now he goes on to say, because the Holy One of
Israel to cease from before us. Don't preach to us the holy standard
and expectations of God is what they're saying. Then verse 12,
he says, therefore, thus said the Holy One of Israel, because
you despise this word, that is, because you hate the preaching
that names your sin and calls you to do righteousness and talks
about the judgment to come, because you hate that and trust in oppression
and perverseness, and stay there on. Now my friend, you become fervent for the truth,
and you preach the truth in love, folks will fault your fervency
as losing your cool, losing your temper. And if you say strong
things in defense of the truth, as Jude 3 tells us, that ye should
earnestly, what does earnestly mean to you? that ye should earnestly
contend for the faith." Sound Bible doctrine separated from
sin, separated into righteousness, looking for the coming of Christ.
That you should earnestly contend for the faith which was once
delivered unto the saints." Don't change. Don't change the word. Don't leave any out. They will
say, you are unkind. You are some kind of a phobic. But men will be very fervent
and use very fervent language about politics, sport, They will defend gay lifestyle,
the homosexual, the sodomite lifestyle, and gay marriage with
very fervent language. Yet no one questions their loss
of temper or cool, even though they may go out in the streets
and break windows and hurt people. They think we should be very
calm when people try to tear down the Bible biblical morals,
biblical ethics, when they try to tear it to pieces. If anything calls for fervent
reproof and rebuke with intense passion, it is the defense of
God's Word against the false teaching and sin that is corrupting
God's Word in so many churches across this land. Preachers,
hirelings, afraid to preach. And my friend, we are to endure. And endure has the idea they
will not bear with and continue to hold to sound doctrine as
it is from the Word of God. Now, we seem today to be more
concerned with losing a volunteer in our church work or offending
the big giver to the church. And that fear quenches the fear
of God's judgment. It has greater magnitude than
God's judgment of souls going to hell, of unrepentant
and rebellion against God. We seem to be more worried what
the children in the youth ministry will think than we are with the
faithful and holy judgment of an almighty offended God. And how thoughtless that wrath
may be poured out on our own children and grandchildren because
we didn't want the church taking those stands because our children
didn't like it. Men love darkness rather than light. Jesus said
that in John chapter 3 verse 16 and 17 we all like to quote
but he said verses 19 through 21 which is in the same paragraph
the same message he said love men love darkness rather than
light coming from darkness was repentance and men hated the
light but that that didn't mean you're supposed to stop preaching
it you preach because there may be souls in there that will turn
to the light And we're there to teach the children, not to
have the children run the church. But yet, today we find in churches
all across this land, just like Isaiah prophesied of Israel in
this day before its fall, that children will be their leaders
and women will be their leaders, because there's just not manly
men that will stand up and take the lead of their local churches
and be men of God, holy, acceptable unto God. Today, we seem to be
troubled by the thought that same-sex advocates will fall
from the faith because they have children or some other family
or friend. They fear will leave the faith. Well, my friend, if they're in
that life, they have already left the faith. If they ever
had it, they probably didn't have it, but they have left it
whether they had it or not. That faith that was once delivered
unto the saints. Now, since the truth has already offended some that
are listening right now. I may as well go all the way
with God on this, but I've seen parents who had a strong and
godly standard at one time, but their children became teenagers.
And suddenly, they're listening to the wrong music, dressing
in modestly, watching filth at the local theater, And the parents
are suddenly calling us legalist and unloving. Well, actually,
you're the ones being talked about here in verses 3 and 4
of 2 Timothy chapter 4. And you're being the one that's
unloving because you're allowing this thing to take your children
to hell or at best being saved so as by fire. How is that loving? You're afraid your children are
not like you. You're not out to try to make your children
like you, although you love them. You want your children to respect
you and respect God and to get mad at a youth director or pastor
or church that has standards. My friend, You are hurting your
child more than anyone else is hurting them. And you can email
me on that, write a letter, but if you're looking for an apology,
one is not forthcoming. And so we must endure. Keep preaching it. These people do not endure, and
instead they seek ear ticklers. As a pastor, I have a divine
warning not to tickle the ears. So after
the desires for this world, they heap to themselves teachers having
itching ears. That simply means, make me feel
good about living. Living life the way I'm living
it. That goes against the sound teaching of God's Word. That
goes against what the Holy Spirit does, convicts of sin, of righteousness
and judgment to come. It seeks to corrupt the Word,
to twist it in order to justify their lives. Again, that's why
you have so many new versions of the Bible. Too often, the
modern pulpit It's a sounding board saying back to the people
what they want to hear. That preacher will come under
the almighty hand of God's judgment and it'll be so much worse on
him than it is others. It is interesting that the word
heap, again, look back there, or they will not the time come
they will not endure sound doctrine but after their own lust their
own evil desires that is so they heap to themselves teachers having
itching ears is that what they're doing today this is it the only place in the New
Testament that that word is used and it means to accumulate in
piles and so they're getting books
and speakers and ideas One can be a Catholic you can be a Presbyterian
a charismatic a Baptist or New Evangelical of some kind And they're all getting on the
same boat But that's not the Bible the Holy Bible boat. This
