Good evening. I am so glad to be here and to
finally see everyone. I thank the Lord for giving me
the opportunity to come to your place, to come to your country,
and to be able to preach and visit sister churches in our
work. And I thank my wonderful hosts,
Pastor Skip and Ma'am Brenda Holland. And I thank the homes
where I stayed for a few nights, and I thank the churches who
gave me a wonderful welcome. And of course I miss home, but
I'm starting to get a feel of home right here. I thank the Lord for this wonderful
opportunity because it's not an easy thing to get a visa to
come here, especially for a Filipino like me. Now, you have to go
through the eye of the needle, so to speak, because anybody
who applies for a visa, especially if he is a Filipino, it is presumed
that he will not be coming back to the Philippines. He will like
it here, and he will stay as an illegal alien for a period
of time. And that will be a big problem
for our country. That's why your embassy in Manila is very, very
strict in admitting tourists like me. And I have to prove
that I have economic ties, financial ties, family ties, social ties
that will motivate me to go back after my visit. But I thank the
Lord because The U.S. Consul in Manila did not check
my papers, properties, car registration, stuff like that, but he simply
asked for the invitations that I received from the churches
here. And the Lord blessed, I have eight invitations from the churches,
one from the Association of Macedonia, and one from Erskip and his wife,
and he just look at them one by one, read everything, and
he was typing while he was reading. And I might say he must be checking
all the names in the database if it's correct and it's true. So all your names are there,
those who signed the invitations from the churches. And if something
goes wrong and something harmful happens to me, the US government
will be looking for you. That's the great thing when you
come legally. And well, I've experienced a very warm welcome
here. And I've always told Pastor Skip
and Miss Brenda that flying in from Dallas to Mobile, it was
a very small plane. And I don't like flying. And
somebody actually will take me flying Tuesday. And I'm trying
to forget the thing. I like to enjoy myself right
now. So flying will be out. Well, anyway, we flew in this
small plane. It was so small because there's just one seat
on the left side, two seats on the right side. And I look around
and everyone, I'm the only brown guy there. I said, wow. Well, I was, you know, a little
bit feel at home in that big jet from Hong Kong to Dallas
because there are so many Asians there that came from Hong Kong.
So you have Chinese, you have some Filipino there. Then for
the first time, I was alone. And we landed roughly. It was windy. It was very cloudy.
I was a little bit scared. I feel isolated. I feel out of
place. But when I came out from the airport, I saw this brethren.
They're all there. The Hartfields, the Hollands,
by David Short. and other Saints there with a
big sign welcoming me to Bubil, welcoming me to the U.S., and
I'm so happy. And in every place where I went,
in every home where I went, I had a wonderful stay. I had a wonderful
time with the brethren, and I would like to thank you because you
made it possible for me. I would not be here Had the Lord
not touch your hearts to send some offerings for my tickets.
And it's a wonderful thing. I would say I had culture shock
first few days. I was just trying to process
everything I've seen. Well, I was thinking that I have
read enough, watched enough, and know enough about your country
to prepare for my coming here. But I was wrong. It's a different
thing to be here. And first thing that we did after
we landed, we had dinner in Golden Corral in Mobile. I was shocked
with all the food I've seen there. I could not get myself to pick
one. And somebody said, hey, just
start choosing this food. I said, well, where will I start?
There's so many food here. You're a blessed country. And
I was like, you know, in every home, I stayed, it was like I
was staying in a five-star hotel. See? Nice homes, and nice churches,
and you should thank the Lord for all the blessings you have
there. Bird Skip and Ma'am Brenda, they're very brave people. They've
been there to my country twice. Ma'am Brenda, thrice. They were,
you know, a little bit crazy, because the three of them, Ma'am
Brenda, her daughter Tiffany, and a lady named Diane Bird,
they're just three of them the first time they come there. They
did not know us, they did not know our country, knew nothing. But they went there because they
love the Lord, they love the Lord's work. And when I come
here, whenever I prepare for here, to come here, my wife will
say, are you really? I said, yeah. How about the turbulence? I said, don't worry about that.
I love the Lord and I love to see the people who are supporting
the work of the Lord in the Philippines. I love you that much. That's
why when the pilot, Taking off from Hong Kong, a few moments
later, the pilot said, in two hours, we will have turbulence.
Wow, that's good news. And that's 13 hours, my friends,
on the big jet. I heard turbulence announcement
five times during the flight. And every time that thing, you
know, sounds, I said, wow, another turbulence. But I am here. I am in the Lord's hands. And
the Lord has blessed. He gave a safe trip. And you pray for me as I go home
on Monday, next Monday, not this Monday, next Monday. And I'll
be another long flight back home. And hopefully the Lord will enable
me to get home safely. And you please pray for me. Please
pray for my wife and kid, son, Neil, my wife, Lynn, and pray
for the churches there. Well, the Lord's work has been
blessed. You have prayed for it, encouraged
me, supported me and the work there. In Calatrava, we have
a thriving congregation. We have 59 people actively worshiping
the Lord, growing in His knowledge and grace. And we have our different
Sunday school classes for kids, for youth. for adults. We have also our latest monthly
meeting. We have our youth quarterly meetings. Then we have our outreach
ministries. We have our campus ministry in
two high school campuses. So our public schools there are
open for ministers like me. And we go there in Calatrava
National High School, which has 2,000 young people there studying.
We go there every Thursday. We preach in the classrooms whenever
there are no classes. We have one-on-one Salweeny.
We gather the students, teach them about God, teach them Christian
songs, some fun games. And then Friday, we go to Lynn
School. It's an extension of the main
school, so it's small, about 300 students. And we go there
Friday afternoon, doing the same things, teaching the word of
God to the young people. And a good number of them actually
have come to church these past few months because Lynn, being
the school in charge, invited some of these kids to be in our
home and then worship God the following day, Sunday. So it's
a wonderful ministry for the young people. Of course, we have
our annual fellowship for the youth. It's being held every
April because April and May are our summer months. It's dry,
so we can have a week-long youth camp in the public schools. We lease or we borrow it for
five days. We have youth meetings from Monday
to Friday, Sunday evening preaching. from the first night until Thursday
night. And this year, Sister Brenda and Sister Diane Byrd
were with us. Sister Brenda and Sister Diane Byrd were with us. Sister Brenda and
Sister Diane Byrd were with us. Sister Brenda and Sister Diane Byrd were with
us. Sister Brenda and Sister Diane Byrd were with us. Sister Brenda and Sister Diane Byrd
were with us. Sister Brenda and Sister Diane Byrd were with us. Sister
Brenda and Sister Diane Byrd were with us. Sister Brenda and Sister Diane
Byrd were with us. Sister Brenda and Sister Diane Byrd were with us. Sister Brenda and Sister
Diane Byrd were with us. Sister Brenda and Sister Diane Byrd were with us. Sister Brenda and
Sister Diane Byrd were with us. Sister Brenda and Sister Diane Byrd were with us. Sister
Brenda and Sister Diane Byrd were with us. Sister Brenda and
Sister Diane Byrd were with us. Sister Brenda and Sister Diane
Byrd were with us. Sister Brenda and Sister Diane Byrd were with us. Sister Brenda and
Sister Diane Byrd were with us. Sister Brenda and near the church. Those kids
are from unsaved parents. And because our country, my country,
is 95% Roman Catholics, most of these kids do not go to church.
Their parents would not allow them. And some parents would
actually beat their children if they come to our church. So
we go there. We go there and Some of our young
people in the church will teach these kids and tell them Bible
stories and have them some cookies after that. We have 50 kids in
those classes. Then we have our children's feeding
ministry. We feed kids every month. We have about 250 kids
in three locations every month. Then from Lane School and from
Valerio Mosso Mission. Now, This children's feeding
ministry has been used by God in opening homes for the gospel. Because otherwise these people
will not entertain us. They will not just open their
doors for us. We have to establish relationships
with them. And the feeding ministry for their kids is a wonderful
thing. And it's been used by God in wonderful ways. And every
month these kids look forward. to their feeding program. We
serve rice because we eat a lot of rice. Rice in the morning,
rice during lunch, and rice during dinner, and rice in between. And of course we serve fried
chicken or other dishes with chicken, and it's a big treat
for the kids. Because some of the kids in the
poor communities where we have our feeding ministry, They got
to eat chicken once in a while. Some, maybe once a year, once
a month. Those who are in the upper part,
maybe once a week. So it's a big thing for them.
So we have rice, chicken, cookies, candies, and during December
we have toys and other gifts for the kids. So it's a wonderful
ministry. And Brother Skip and Mom Brenda
have experienced that. twice, and it's a wonderful thing. And
our mission in Valle Hermoso, which was the hotbed of communist
insurgency in my country, people there are just suspicious of
strangers, even to someone like me. So it was a hard thing to
start a work there. Many Baptist pastors and missionaries
have attempted to do mission work there. It's about 20 miles
from where we live, down south. Nobody succeeded. So we have
this children's ministry. We feed kids. And homes just
started opening their doors to us. We have four baptized members
there right now. And we have Bible studies every
Sunday afternoon. So, It's a wonderful thing. And then we have our radio broadcast
every Sunday, 6.30 in the morning. And Brother Skip have preached
twice on a radio broadcast. We rode on my motorbike, and
there was this big white-haired fellow at the back. And whenever
we pass people, just like, oh. But it's nice. I mean, we got
to reach thousands of people every Sunday morning preaching
his word. and preaching the gospel. I got
text messages from as far as southern Cebu. That's another
province, another island. And I got text messages from
all over the southern part and central part of Negros. That's
awesome. Now, actually, when I was in
the radio ministry years back, a Presbyterian minister who has
been pastoring a Presbyterian church for 20 years got saved
because of the radio broadcast. Can you imagine that? A Presbyterian
minister got saved. He's been pastoring his church
for 20 years. And he got saved because he listened to the gospel
on the radio. And we met one time and he hugged
me tight and thanked me with tears. And I couldn't believe
it. And I said, are you really a
pastor of the Presbyterian Church? And he said, yes. And I was not
saved all those years. I said, wow. God's grace is indeed
amazing. And of course I got angry text
from people from time to time. And whenever we preach the gospel
in the Philippines, you have to explain clearly what it means
to have Jesus as your savior. So you have to tell people that
Mary has nothing to do with salvation. Peter is not the rock upon which
the church was built. You have to explain to them that
idolatry is an abomination. The saints can't help you in
getting saved. The Pope can't help you in going
to heaven. The Catholic Church is not the
church that Jesus built. You have to tell those things
to be clear. And these things hurt people
there. So whenever I preach the truth,
I got hostile, angry messages. I mean, Francis. Do you know
Francis? The Pope? Well, he's a big friend
of mine. He went to the Philippines. I
did a series of messages Sunday morning about the papacy, about
the Catholic Church, about Mary, about Peter. And I actually got
threats. And one text said, hey, preacher,
you watch your back. And those are unknown numbers.
And sometimes my wife gets worried and says, don't mind those things. For as long as I'm not finished
here, nothing can harm me. Nobody can harm me. And these
things have been going on for years. We have our mountain ministries. Brother Skip was there, Ma'am
Brenda was there. The church in Annie, it's in the mountains. And there's another church in
Bagonbon under our world. It's in the mountains. We've
pioneered those works way back in 2002. And you have armed groups
roaming around in those places back in those days. And I was
absolutely told not to go there again, not to preach there anymore.
And you know what? I was just four years married
then. We were young. And you know,
when you are young, you have that passion. And my wife said,
don't go there anymore. I am so afraid they will kill
you. I said, no, we will go there. You know what? Courage is a contagious
thing. If you have courage, people will
get that from you. And they will serve the Lord.
But cowardice is also contagious. If you let people see cowardice
in you, you are threatened, and you just stayed away because
you're afraid, they will be afraid too. So I told my wife, I have
a choice. Either I will let them see courage
in me or cowardice. I would rather have courage.
And so I went back there, preached the gospel, threatened, maligned,
vilified, but the Lord has blessed. And we have two churches there
and two missions. In fact, my younger brother,
Ferdinand, pastors one of the church there. So, the Lord has
blessed in so many ways and it is my prayer that one of these
days you can come to the Philippines and I will return the favor of
warm hospitality. The Lord has blessed. God used
somebody here from Mississippi to build us a nice home. And
we've been renting homes since we got married in 2000, or in
1999. Now, we've been renting We've been moving from house
to house whenever the contract expires. And it's tiring sometimes
when you're just moving for this year and then another year, another
house. But the Lord touched a family from here, one of our brothers
here, and he built us a very nice home. And if you go there
in the Philippines, you have some place, you have a home where
you can stay. And we will feed you rice. Yes. And I promise you, you will eat
all the rice you can eat. And in one week, you will gain
pounds. Do you have any questions? If
you'd like to ask questions, we have five minutes. And then
I'll preach for another 30 minutes. Any questions? Have you seen
the report that I sent to you? Did you read it? Thank you. Those are two lovely couple out
there. They're my friends. Of course, if you go to the Philippines,
we will not force you to eat goat's head. Yes, ma'am? Okay. The Meeting House in Calatrava
is, for us, it's very nice. But compared to you, of course,
it's different. It's just 22 feet by 40 feet. It's concrete. It's painted. We don't have aircon
there. We just have electric fans. And
we have a stage, a nice pulpit. Then we have plastic chairs.
We don't have this kind of chairs here. If we have this kind of
chairs, they will stay for two days. Just sitting on there. It's really nice. Yeah, we have
electric fans, so it will keep us cool during the services. But no matter how many electric
fans you've got, if you are parked, overcrowded, it's still hot.
But here, it's cold, and it's nice. So we have these monoblock
chairs, plastic chairs. We don't have this kind. Then
we have our Sunday school, little Sunday school room at the back.
of the church. It's just a single, you know,
sanctuary. There are no other classrooms there. No parsonage
and whatsoever. It's a very small property. So
the Lord blessed us and we were able to purchase that years ago.
And through the offerings from our churches in our work, we
were able to build that kind of meeting house. Of course,
it has a ceiling and a roof. But it's very small. This is
actually bigger than our, yeah, yes sir? If someone was to come
and visit, how long would you recommend them stay? To be able
to visit everywhere? Just to cover all the churches?
Yes sir. Maybe three weeks? Three weeks. If we include Cebu,
we have our work in Cebu, and our work in Camotes Islands.
That'll be three weeks. And she must be, or he must be
young enough to travel. because we will be crossing seas,
ocean, going to Cebu and going to Camorras. He should be strong enough to
do that. My escape is very strong, so no problem. Some more questions? You can ask me while I'm here,
because the moment I leave this church, I'm not sure if I can
come back. Do this to me. I'm real. It's not a hologram. What was your personal story
of salvation? Yeah, well, I was about to include
that in my message. Anyway, that'll be fine. Okay.
Well, I grew up in a Roman Catholic Church. We're all devout Catholics. My grandfather, the head of the
clan, was a devout Catholic. We have the priest every month
in our home for dinner or for lunch. And we were growing up
very faithful in the church. And of course, if you are faithful,
you attend mass, you'll have communion, you'll go to confession,
you celebrate all the feasts, and you do whatever is demanded
by the church. So for me, I was thinking at
the time that I'm doing well, that I'm so close to God. And
then when I was 10 years old, I volunteered as an altar boy.
An altar boy is someone who assists the priests in doing, in preparing
the sanctuary for mass. And I did good. I mean, I was
faithful as an altar boy. You've got to clean all the statues.
And I feel so close to God. Then, uh, When I was in grade eight, I
was 14 at that time, I came across my grandfather's Catholic Bible,
it's in our language, and I read because my grandfather did not
read that Bible. I read it whenever I'm alone and started reading
and reading and reading, I don't know where to go because I was
thinking about this just one whole book, not two testaments,
but I read from the old, I read from the new, then in those readings,
Later on, the Lord convicted me. I have read about the judgments
and revelation, and I started thinking about spiritual things.
You see, I was religious, but I was not actually a spiritual
man, a spiritual boy. I just, you know, I was thinking
that I can do these things and God will hopefully save me, give
me eternal life, let me enter heaven. But I realized that something
was wrong. I have no peace. I was so afraid
to die. And I will have this struggle within me. I realized
that if I die, I'm not really sure where I'm going. So after
so much struggles, a few days later, I went to my priest and
confessed. I said, Father, I have a struggle
in my heart. And he said, what is that, my
son? I said, I have this feeling that if I die, I'm not going
to heaven. I have this feeling that if I
die, the darkness will just engulf me, overwhelm me, and I'm not
sure where I'm going. And the priest said, well, me
too. I said, really? Well, I thought
you are closer to God than me. No, son, nobody is sure. Not
even the Pope is sure. Oh my! So the Pope is not sure? Say yes. Nobody is sure my son. And that is true because in the
Catholic dogma, in the Catholic teaching, there is what we call
the sin of presumption. The sin of presumption. It says
there that If someone says that he is sure of going to heaven,
while he is still alive, here on earth, that person commits
the sin of presumption. Because you presume that you
are going there. So, priest said, nobody is sure,
so that was, you know, it devastated me. I mean, I felt, I have never
felt so lost in my entire life. If the priest and the pope are
not sure, how about me? So one day, I was walking because
I grew up in a small village, a fishing village. We have white
sands there. I was just enjoying the sunset
and walking and there was my aunt. My aunt is a member of
a small Baptist church in the island. That small Baptist church
has been through much, vilified, mocked, ridiculed, persecuted.
And I was one of those who actually vilified and ridiculed them.
But then my aunt was witnessing to an elderly lady about the
gospel. And within distance, I was listening. And her words actually spoke
to my heart. And for the first time in my
life, I heard the gospel. From her, I heard that the blood of
Jesus Christ can cleanse me from all my sins. From her I heard
that if I receive Jesus Christ as my Savior, I will have eternal
life. And from her I heard that salvation
is today. Those words really touched me.
And I can still remember her voice, her intonations, the words
that he told me. Or he told the lady. And she
was not aware about that. That night on December 30, 1990,
I was alone in my room. I was on my knees crying and
accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as my Savior. And there was joy
and peace. And that was long ago. But it's
like it just happened yesterday. The following morning, I told
everyone at the breakfast table that I got saved. And my grandpa
just stood up, bound his fist to the table, I said, aha, so
you got infected by the Baptist virus. I said, no sir, I got
saved. And then it was downhill from
there. The following month I got baptized and all of the community
came just to witness because you know what, the following
Sunday after I got saved I went to that Baptist church and everyone
was so surprised. I was the last person in the
world that they expect to be there. But I was there. I enjoyed its worship service.
I was ostracized by the community. My friends will not speak to
me. My relatives will not come near me. And when finally I was
baptized the following month, I was kicked out from my house. I was disowned by my grandfather.
I was disowned by the clan. I was disowned by my parents.
So I had to stay in the pastor's house for a few months. In school,
nobody will talk to me. My teachers bullied me. My classmates
would not share their seats with me. It was hard. But you know what? It's a pleasure
to suffer for the Lord. And as I look back, I realize
that I have no regrets whatsoever. Because I realize that The hardships,
the difficulties, the loneliness that I suffered for the Lord
is nothing compared to what He has done for me. It's actually
nothing compared to what God or what Christ had to go through
to save me. And we complain a lot these days.
Sometimes Christians complain a lot, not realizing and not
remembering what Christ has to go through just to save us. And
whenever I remember those times, I thank God for the opportunity
to suffer for Him. And what is that suffering compared
to His? So I grew up in the Lord. Then when I was 18, I realized
that God is calling me to the ministry. I surrendered to preach
in a small church. I was actually preaching before
that time. I preached in the neighborhood.
I preached wherever. I love to preach. And then finally, someone
told me I should surrender to preach. And so when the invitation
was called, I went forward, I came to the altar, and surrendered
my life to preaching. But right then and there, the
Lord is blessed. And I have not stopped preaching.
You just tell me to preach and I will preach. But of course
you can tell me to stop. The Lord has been so good, and
years after I got saved, my mom got saved, my younger brothers
got saved, and my younger brother, Ferdinand, is also pastoring
a church in our work in the Philippines. And it's been a blessing, but
my family back in the island, my relatives, they are still
lost, and they don't want to have anything to do with me and
my family, but that's okay. As long as they have heard the
gospel, then it's their responsibility to either accept or reject Jesus
Christ. Any questions? Okay, so we shall
preach, I shall preach. If you have your Bible, please
open it in the book of Ezekiel. Now, please understand that I
cannot pronounce words the way you do, so just listen carefully. Don't blink. Ezekiel, is that
the way you pronounce it? Ezekiel chapter 33 verse 11 down
to verse 18. Ezekiel chapter 33 verse 11 down
to verse 18. Now, I would like everyone to
please stand as we read the word of God. Say unto them, As I live, saith
the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but
that the wicked turn from his way, and leave turn ye from your
evil ways. For why will ye die, O house
of Israel? Therefore thou son of man, say unto the children
of thy people, The righteousness of the righteous shall not deliver
him in the day of his transgression. As for the wickedness of the
wicked, he shall not fall thereby in the day that he turneth from
his wickedness. Neither shall the righteous be able to live
for his righteousness in the day that he sinneth. When I shall
say to the righteous that he shall surely live, if he trust
to his own righteousness, and commit iniquity, all his righteousness
shall not be remembered. But for his iniquity that he
hath committed, he shall die for it. Again, when I say unto
the wicked, Thou shalt surely die, if he turn from his sin,
and do that which is lawful and right, if the wicked restore
the pledge, give again that he had robbed, walk in the statutes
of life, without committing any pity, he shall surely live, he
shall not die. None of his sins that he hath
committed shall be mentioned unto him. He hath done that which
is lawful and right, he shall surely live. Yet the children
of thy people say, The way of the Lord is not equal, but as
for them, their way is not equal. When the righteous turneth from
his righteousness, and committed iniquity, he shall even die thereby. Let us pray heavenly Father,
bless the reading of your word. Please walk to our hearts and
we pray, Heavenly Father, you will give wisdom to your servant
and touch our hearts this evening. This all I ask in Jesus' name,
Amen. Please be seated, thank you.
These days, we hear about equality, making things equal. In my country, it's election time and candidates
are promising so many things. And believe it or not, more than
100 people have applied for candidacy as president in my country. 100
people. One of them calls himself Lucifer. And then another person was waving
the Nazi flag while going to the commission and elections
office. Well, everyone wants to be president, and everybody
was promising some things, like paying our debts, or making the
poor people rich, equalizing everything. Now, one of those
candidates was a very intelligent woman. She is our senator. She
has degrees in big universities. She has degrees in law and other
things. And she was, in fact, appointed
as one of the judges in the International Criminal Court in The Hague.
But she got sick, so she declined. And she is running for president.
And she was interviewed on TV and she was asked, do you believe
in God? And she said, no. If there is
a God in heaven, then he is doing a miserable job. And she explained
it. She said, if there is a God in
heaven, He should make all men equal. Equal in everything. He should not allow poor people
to exist. Or He should make poor people
rich. We want equality. Equal in opportunities. Equal
in everything. And I realized that that is the
cry of so many people these days. Give us equal opportunity. and
nobody will be poor. Let us all make things equal.
And of course, the socialists would have equality, like, you
know, this is the rich, according to Margaret Thatcher, and these
are the poor people. They would like to equalize things
by pulling down the rich people, not pulling the poor people up.
And that is true. But we cannot and can never find
equality in this world. We cannot and we can never find
true equality and true fairness in this world. We can always
look at our surroundings and realize that sometimes things
are unfair and unequal. But then again, our scriptures
tells us that in spite of the fact that there are unfair things
in this world, our God is a fair God. And his ways are equal. In fact, if you will see the
whole message of Ezekiel, he was telling God's people to repent,
to go back to God, to return to God. And he was telling these
people the opportunity to repent and be saved. The opportunity
to be delivered from the coming judgment of God. And Ezekiel
was telling them that, hey, God shows no favor. God treats everyone equally.
And if you will not escape God's judgment, it's not because God
did not elect you, but it is because you did not heed God's
warning. You see, God's ways are equal
when it comes to salvation. Tyrus chapter 2 verse 11 says
that the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all
men. That's why in Acts chapter 17
verse 13 and 31 Paul said God commanded all men everywhere
to repent because he is offering all men the opportunity to be
saved. Well, the Catholic Church made
the grace of God very expensive. The poor people could not afford
it. You see, when you die, You cannot go directly to heaven.
You have to pass through purgatory and stay there for some time.
And your length of stay in purgatory depends on the number of masses
and prayers that your living relatives back on earth are paying
for. So, if you are rich, you have
much money, then the priest can say mass for you every Sunday.
It can even mention your name. The priest will say, let us pray
for brother Giorgio Riagate, who is now in purgatory. And
you are paying what? 5,000 for that mass. 5,000 pesos. That's more than $100. And so
the poor people cannot afford that kind of thing. And they
were so depressed, discouraged, despondent, because, well, the
Catholic Church made the grace of God very expensive that only
the rich people can actually go to heaven. But of course, there are discounts.
Yes. During November 1 and 2, we have
this All Souls Day and All Saints Day. During All Souls Day, the
priest will go to the cemetery, the people will go to the cemetery,
bring flowers and food and stuff, and just have a good time on
the graves. And the priest will come by and
give you an envelope where you can list all the names of the
souls of the dead in your family. And for each soul, or for each
name, that's $2. And you have 20 names, that's
$40. 10 names, $20. So you put the
10 names, you put the $20, give to the priest, and the priest
will say some prayers and bless. In 5 minutes, the priest has
that amount of money. At least you have a discount.
But then again, it's all about money. The Catholic Church has
for so long made salvation so expensive that the rich people
will just die straight away. And we believe. I grew up believing
that God's grace is indeed something that we have to pay for, work
for, and earn for ourselves. I grew up believing that God's
love is something that I must earn. So, I did my best, I guess. I was on the mass every Sunday.
I do the right gestures, like sign of the cross, and beating
the priest, and whenever the host, do you know what the host
is? Wafer, the wafer thing, the circle thing. The priest will
do that, and this is my body. The priest will, you know, instruct
me and say, hey, three seconds after I say the last word, you
ring the bell. Because there's a small bell there that I, I
will ring that. And when the priests see those
words, I count one, two. And that wafer will become the
true body, soul, and blood of Jesus Christ. And the priest
will say, just three seconds because that is the exact time.
that that wafer will become Jesus Christ himself. I said, how about
five seconds? No, not five seconds, just three seconds. He said,
wow. And when I remember those things, I said, really? Well,
when you do not read the word of God, you will believe anything. That's why the Bible says in
Hosea that my people are destroyed for the lack of knowledge. And it's very sad because you
have so many people today who has the Word of God, who has
the Bible in their homes, but they are destroyed because they
chose to reject God's Word. And go away with God's Word.
My friends, I want to tell you this. When it comes to salvation,
you are given by God opportunity to be saved. And you cannot blame
God for not being saved. If you die today and go to hell,
you can't blame anyone, you can't blame God. He has given you enough
time. You have heard the messages.
That's why the Bible says that the way of the Lord is equal.
That's why the Bible says in Ezekiel chapter 33 in verse 3,
If when he seeth the sword come upon the land, the watchman will
blow the trumpet and warn the people. Then whosoever heareth
the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not the warning, if the
sword come and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own
head. Will the Calvinist make the grace
of God very selective and choosy? One time, I met this pastor.
We were talking about salvation and he said, you know what? No
matter how a sinner repents, at least he is an elect, he will
not be saved. I said, really? Wow, that's you?
No, that's Calvinism. I said, and you believe us? Yes,
I believe that with all of my heart. So I ask him, have you
repented? Yes. Are you serious? But what
if you're not an elect of God? How can you be sure? Well, I
believe in election, but not the election that is being taught
by Calvinism. I believe that no person will go to hell because
he was not chosen by God to heaven. No. I believe that a person goes
to hell because he chose not to accept Jesus Christ as his
Savior. I believe that people will go
to hell because they willingly and voluntarily and personally
rejected Jesus Christ and his sacrifice on the cross. Nobody
will stand before God and say, Lord, I was not saved because
you didn't choose me. No, sir. No. You will stand before God If
you are condemned and unsaved, it was because you choose to
reject the gospel. You choose to reject the blood
of Jesus Christ. You choose to reject the Son
of God. Nobody will stand before God and say, well God, I blame
you because I have repented and you did not choose me to salvation.
No, sir. No. The way of the Lord is equal.
And that is something that we must preach to the people these
days. In my country, we always take
that opportunity. You see, there are so many things
that I do there in order to preach the gospel. We have street preaching.
I have told you about the campus ministry, house-to-house Bible
studies, and sometimes when a Catholic family lose a loved one, they
would like to get the priest to the house, but the priest
is expensive. So they will, you know, go to me, go to my house,
say, preacher, someone died in the family and we cannot afford
a priest. Would you like to go to my home and have prayers and
preach whatever you want to preach? I said, yeah. And so we have,
we go there. I encourage the members to come.
And sometimes some people will not understand and say, pastor,
it's not a church member. I say, well, it's an opportunity.
So we go there, we sing Christian hymns, we have Bible preaching. I prayed for the family and everyone
was happy. The family was happy for the
free service. I was happy for the opportunity to preach the
gospel. And we have to do that because we have to sound out
the word of God to tell these people that they have to repent.
and be saved that there is an opportunity that God has given
them, given everybody to be saved because God's way is equal when
it comes to salvation. It is my prayer that you are
saved. You know what? People back home
are very religious. Yes, they are very religious.
We are very religious. But like the people in Athens
in Acts 17, they are religious but they are lost. They are religious
but they are lost. And if you are here today, you
might think yourself that you are religious, but religious
has nothing to do with salvation. You can be religious, but you
are not saved. You see, in my country, so many
people there would like to look like you. White, blonde, sharp
nose, and speaking American English. And some people they will go
to great lengths to have their white skin. And they will pay
money to have their sharper nose. And sometimes the surgery will,
you know, go wrong. And somebody actually they have
this sharp nose, but then it went wrong. It looked like a
pig's nose after that. And all for trying to do her
best to look like him. I say this, you might have a
white skin like an American, a nose like an American, dress
up like an American, speak English like an American, but that will
not make you an American. That will not make you an American
citizen. Now, you can dress up like a
Christian, sing like a Christian, recite the scriptures like a
Christian, attend church like a Christian, it won't make you
a Christian. What can make you a child of
God then? John 1 says that by receiving Jesus Christ, we are
giving the power to become sons of God. If you receive Jesus
Christ as your Savior, only then can you become a child of God.
Only then can you become His child. You see? We sometimes think that the external
things of the church, what we do here every Sunday, is what
makes us closer to God. No, sir, it won't. You are as
lost as the people in the pub or the people in jail. We have this police ministry.
I failed to mention that, but we have this police ministry
in Calatrava. Bearscape was there, I go there every second Monday
and we have Bible studies with the police officers. And one
of them actually said, hey preacher, what are you doing there? I said,
we don't have Bible studies. Who? With whom? I said, with
you and the officers. And I think he was new to the
place and he said, really? Well, preacher, I think that
sinners are there in the jail. I said, well. There are sinners
in a jail, and there are sinners in uniform. And he couldn't understand
that. I said, well, those who are in
jail have sinned against the law of our country. But every
person, those who are in jail, you and me, have sinned against
God. You see, we're all sinners. And yeah, I got that. So some people think that sinners
are people who are in prison, people who are in drug rehabs,
No, sir. Everybody is a sinner before
God. We have degrees of sinfulness, but all of us are sinners. We
need a Savior. We cannot save ourselves. Going
to church cannot save you. Some people back home think that
going to church will at least cancel some of their debts before
God. No, sir. Unless you receive Jesus Christ
as your Savior, you are lost, as everybody outside. You have to receive Jesus Christ
as your Savior. Now God's way is equal when it
comes to salvation and God's way is equal when it comes to
service. You see? If you serve God faithfully,
you will have a life that is full of joy and full of His blessings. You remember Deuteronomy 28?
Where God laid down a way of life that is full of blessings
and a way of life that is full of cursings. And in Deuteronomy
30, God says, Behold, I put before you life and good,
evil and death. Choose life. You see? Choose
life. Now as Christians, God expects
us to live for Him. You know what? God's grace is
amazing because it does not only save us, but it actually changes
us. If you remember Titus, Titus
chapter 2 verse 12, Now some people think that because
we are saved by grace through faith and not by our works. That's
all there is to it, but they're wrong. Titus chapter 2 verse
12, it says here, In verse 11 it says, For the grace of God
that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men. Now verse
12, notice this. Teaching us that denying ungodliness and
worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly
in this present world. You see? The grace of God that
brings salvation is the same grace of God that teaches us
to live godly, soberly, and righteously in this present world. Whenever
a person is saved, that person's life is changed. I have known
people who will, you know, testify that they are saved, they have
received Jesus Christ, but their lives were never changed. You
see, it's easy for us to know about salvation. Salvation is
a doctrine. You can read it, you can memorize
it, you can recite it, you can know it. But it also must be
an experience. It's like a beach. When I was
in Mindanao, it's a very big island, so there are people in
Mindanao who live in the mountains who have never been to the sea
or to the ocean. They have not been there, but
they know what an ocean is. I actually asked one of them,
I said, sir, do you know what an ocean is? Yes. It looks blue
from afar, it's very salty, it has big ships, and it has lots
of fishes, and it's great. But when I asked him, have you
been to the ocean? No, sir. So how do you know about
the ocean? I said, well, I've heard from
someone and I've read some books. But I said, it's quite different
when you've been there. Same with salvation. Same with
our spiritual experience. You might have been sitting in
the pew for so many years and heard about how to be saved.
But the question is, have you experienced salvation? Have you
experienced the grace of God? Because if you have, then your
life will change. Because the same grace that saved
you is the same grace that will teach you how to live godly and
soberly and righteously in this present world. And that's why
the Lord said, By their fruits ye shall know them. I'm not saying
that you will become perfect subjectively as a person, no.
God is still working in you. But I will say this, the moment
you receive Jesus Christ, Philippians 3 says that God worketh in you
both to will and to do his good pleasure. There will be change. I'm not saying that you will
be totally changed, but there will be change in the way how
you view things, in the way you speak, in the way you treat others,
in the way you worship God. These changes will become evident
as you serve the Lord. There must be change, because
God's grace not only saves us, but God's grace also changes
us. Look at Paul. Paul was a vain person. He was
a blasphemer, a murderer, but God changed him. Why? Because he was saved by grace,
and the very grace that saved him also changed his life. And
you know what? If we Christians will show that
change to the world, people will become hungry for Christ. They
would like to have that kind of life that we have. If unbelievers
in our communities can see the way we live for Christ, they
will yearn and desire for the life that we have. And they will
ask about what we have that they don't have. They will ask about
the Bible, about the Lord Jesus Christ. And when that time came,
be ready to give an answer to everyone who asks. for the hope
that is in you. And I hope you can do that. You
don't need to go house to house to preach here. You can share
the gospel to your office mates, to your classmates, for your
neighbors. Of course in the Philippines
it's quite different because I can have, I can bring a megaphone
with me and stand in the street corner and preach. I don't know
if you can do that here. You'll get arrested. I can go
to the school, talk to the principal, Of course, the priest will get
angry with that, but that's okay. The Catholic Church have intensified
their catechisms in the school because of me. Yes. And they went room to room in
the public schools just to counteract our message, but that's okay.
It's democracy. As long as we are given the opportunity,
that's fine. But you can just go there and
preach the gospel. And that's something that we
should do in our own capacity. The Lord does not expect you
to go to the street and just shout and shout. You can win
one soul at a time. You can share the gospel one
soul at a time. And you can be an example to the people around
you. And whenever they see this kind
of life that you are living, a life that is godly, righteous
and sober, they will start yearning for that kind of life. And the
moment that they desire to have that life that you have, they
will ask you about it and be ready to give an answer. It is
my prayer that as God has given the equal way of salvation, equal
way of service, let us proclaim the gospel and be alive to those
who are in darkness. Pray for my country, pray for
my family, pray for the Lord's work in the Philippines as we
are praying for you all. And if tonight you realize that
you are not yet saved, tomorrow might be late for you. Some people
say, well, maybe next week. You might have no other way. In fact, you might die tonight. Proverbs says that you cannot
boast about tomorrow because you don't even know what the
day may bring forth. So if you are not safe, be honest
to yourself. God sees your heart. You can
deceive your pastor. You can deceive your parents.
You can deceive the deacons. You can deceive me, but you cannot
deceive God. God knows what's the real score in your heart.
God knows what's in there. And if you realize that you are
not really safe, you are just religious or pretending to be,
then repent and accept Jesus Christ as your Savior before
it is too late. You know what? Heal is an eternity.
And don't waste the opportunity that God gives you tonight to
be saved. Let us pray. Heavenly Father,
thank you, Lord, for this wonderful evening that you have given us.
Thank you for this wonderful Saints Clear Branch Church and Mineral
Springs Church. And thank you, Lord, for the
preachers who are with us tonight. Lord, we pray that you will bless
everyone. It is my prayer that if someone
here is not yet saved, you will open his eyes, and let him see
his need for a Savior. Only Jesus Christ can cleanse
him from all his sins. Only by coming to Christ can
he be saved and have eternal life. Lord, I'm praying for this
church, for the pastor, for the deacons, and for everybody. Bless
this church. Make it a beacon of hope and
light to the community. Make them strong, Lord, that
they will stand for your truth until you return. I am praying,
Heavenly Father, you will use them in a mighty way to win souls
for you, and that they will become a beacon of hope to those who
are lost. This is all I ask in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
Amen. Another invitation. We are singing a song. If you
are not yet saved, you need to come to Christ. Whatever is in
your heart, right now, you've got to come and you've got to
pray.
