Hebrews 11:23-29

Introduction

• Facts about Moses from Heb 11:
  1 - Moses' parents hide him
  2 - Moses chose his people instead of life of ease in Pharoah's house
  3 - Moses left behind his good life in Egypt to lead his people across the desert to the promised land
  4 - Moses trusted in the Passover
  5 - Moses led the Israelites to salvation through the Red Sea
• all these examples involved investing and thinking about the future: faith

1. Faith

• Doing what we don't fully understand
• Trusting God
• what keeps you safe isn't always what you think...

2. Passover

• The plagues on Egypt
• The tenth plague...the Angel of Death
• Hebrews 11:28...the blood of the lamb kept God's people safe

3. Salvation

• 'being in a safe place'
• Romans 6:23 - "the wages of sin is death"
• 1 Corinthians 5:7 - "Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us"
• John the Baptist - "Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!"
• Peter - "You were redeemed with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot"

Conclusion

• Romans 6:23 - "The wages of sin is death....
  ... But the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
