Let's go ahead and turn our Bibles to 2 Chronicles chapter 20. 2 Chronicles chapter 20, and we're noting an example of one who through faith turned to flight the armies of the aliens. That's Hebrews 11, who through faith turned to flight the armies of the aliens. And we're noting here one who did it. And to see the truth of it, and the actuality of it, And we see, as we've noted here with Jehoshaphat and Judah, we see their faith. And it's real, and we need to understand as well that this is also, or it's possible that the same faith that they had can be real in us in our own lives each and every day. So let's start our reading in verse 14. We concluded last week in verse 13 where Jehoshaphat had prayed and addressed God, and we noted the manner and the fashion in which he did address God. And so verse 14, we're going to note God's answer. It says, Then upon Jehaziel, the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Madaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, came the Spirit of the Lord in the midst of the congregation. And he said, Hearken ye all Judah and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem. Now King Jehoshaphat, thus saith the Lord unto God, be not afraid nor dismayed, my reason of this great multitude. For the battle is not yours, but God's. Tomorrow go ye down against them. Behold, they come up by the cliff of Ziz, and ye shall find them at the end of the brook before the wilderness of Jeruel. Ye shall not need to fight in this battle. Set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the Lord with you. O Judah and Jerusalem, fear not, nor be dismayed. Tomorrow go out against them, for the Lord will be with you. And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground, and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell before the Lord, worshiping the Lord. And the Levites of the children of the Kohathites and of the children of the Korhites stood up to praise the Lord God of Israel with a loud voice on high. Now again, we're continuing our study and we're noting that after King Jehoshaphat had set himself to seek the Lord, addressing the Lord in the biblical and covenant fashion that he did, we find God answered. And He answered in such a way as this. And if you would, just turn over to Isaiah chapter 65. Isaiah chapter 65. And notice, if you would, in verse 24, what the prophet Isaiah said. And Isaiah, as we know, and he gives here a reading, and he says in this, and this was in You'll find how that it deals with exactly what transpired in our text, but what Isaiah writes does not pertain directly to it, but you'll notice in Isaiah 65 and verse 24, And it shall come to pass that before they call, I will answer, and while they are yet speaking, I will hear. Isn't that exactly what happened and transpired here? That God heard them as they were speaking. You know, God doesn't always answer in this fashion. He doesn't always answer right away, does He? But here He did. And it is entirely in God's hands and in His own time frame when He answers. I mean, He could have left the enemy in En-Gaddai for six months and just kept him at bay and it could have been silence. And then he could have gave an answer. And his answer could have been, they're coming in. But it wasn't. And we see God's marvelous grace and mercy. And we see God being faithful unto His Word and unto His covenant. Because again, He said, if you'll come before this temple and you will pray, I will hear and I will answer and I will forgive and I will defend. And we just read that that's exactly what God was going to do. And so, let's take a look here first of all, tonight, in verse 14, the messenger. The messenger. And the Bible tells us just about all we have here about Jehaziel, right here in this verse. There's understanding and studying and reading. prayerfully considering in preparation for the message that there are some five Jehazels in the Scriptures, and here is one of them. There's not a whole lot said here concerning him. His name means beheld of God. That's an interesting name to have, isn't it? To be beheld of God. And certainly God answered, and you'll notice, again, the Spirit of the Lord came upon him in the midst of the congregation. God answered Jehoshaphat's prayer by one whose name was beheld of God. Judah was being beheld of God. He was beholding them. And you remember, the word behold or beheld means literally to take notice, to pay attention. And so God, in again His providence, He answers them through one whose name means beheld of God. He was very well aware of what was going on. And here he replies unto Judah through this individual, through this messenger. And we learn here as the Bible tells us, we learn much from this, the Scriptures that the very first thing about the messenger I'd like you to really note is that in verse 14 at the very last phrase, it says, came the Spirit of the Lord in the midst of the congregation. upon verse 14, then upon Jehaziel, and then it gives us a description of him, came the Spirit of the Lord in the midst of the congregation. And we find that this is true of all of God's messengers, that the Spirit of the Lord comes upon them in this particular way. And I'm not talking about your so-called Pentecostals and your unholy rollers and your false, you know, charismatics. I'm talking about real, godly, biblical Holy Spirit coming upon those who speak and to teach and to preach and deliver God's message. And we find here that the Spirit of the Lord came upon Him. And I'd like you to notice, if you would, and again, turn over to 1 Corinthians 12. And this is a tremendous passage of Scripture. Many people deny it. Many people don't understand it. The Holy Spirit is probably the most misunderstood and abused of all the three persons of the Trinity. There's just ignorance about Him, and some of it willful. But here in 1 Corinthians chapter 12 and verse 11, He came upon Jehaziel. And you know Jehaziel, he wasn't the high priest, was he? And he wasn't one of the prophets, was he? He was of the tribe of Levi. It shows us that he was assigned unto the group of Asaph, who was one of the chief singers. You can run reference to Asaph and read all about him in Scriptures. Well, I can understand here again that the Holy Spirit comes upon whom He will. And here we find in 1 Corinthians 12, verse 11, it says, that all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. The Spirit of God in His own sovereignty and exercise of His own supremacy comes upon Jehaziel just like He does His own people today in distributing and dispensing and lining upon them gifts to be used for the glorification of God and the edification of His church. And here we find the same thing. And again, it just goes to show that God does the same things today as He's always done. Same thing. Salvation's always been by grace through faith. It was never by the law. And here we find that God's work and His messengers, just as it was back then, and just as it is today, it's the Spirit of God who comes upon those whom He will. And just as it was in the Old Testament, it is today that God dispenses and gives gifts and spiritual things for the work of God that we might fulfill the work that He's called us unto. It hasn't always been that way. It's always going to be that way. We look and find again, it is God by the Spirit whom God gives, and we find here that He gives this message and this lesson unto Him. And you know, we need to realize and recognize that great and grand truth. I mean, think about, just imagine, here are these seven churches of Asia and their seven pastors and they get this letter from John on the Isle of Patmos who got it from the Lord and they have to rehearse it to their churches. Well, we ought to understand and turn over to 1 Thessalonians 2. We ought to always take that when God's Word is declared, it is from the Lord. That ought to be our heart set and mind set. That this is from the Lord. 1 Thessalonians 2. And notice in verse 13, here's a tremendous thought when it comes to the church at Thessalonica. Boy, they had some tremendous things written here about that church. And let me read in your hearing in 1 Thessalonians 2 and in verse 13 where it says, Also, thank we God, without ceasing, because when you received the Word of God, which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the Word of men." They didn't say, well that's Paul's opinion, or that's Timothy's opinion. Or that's Silas' opinion, or Peter's opinion, or whoever's opinion they thought it was. No, the Bible goes on and it says, but as it is in truth, the Word of God. which effectually worketh also in you that believeth." You see, we find here that they received God's Word as His Word. And so did these here with Jehoshaphat and Judah. They didn't say, Oh, Jehazel, you be quiet. You don't know what you're talking about. No, they listen and they believe as the Spirit of the Lord had come upon Him. I'd like you to notice as well what it says here about the messenger. Not only was it that the Spirit of the Lord was upon him, but the Bible tells us in the very last phrase of verse 14, 2 Chronicles 20, it says, then upon Jehaziel, and then it goes down to that last phrase, came the Spirit of the Lord in the midst of the congregation. That phrase, in the midst of the congregation, is an outstanding phrase. because it shows us that God raises up from within His own fold. You look there in the times past and gone. Where was it that God raised up a king? Was it not David from out of the sheep coat and how He called him forth from it? And He raised Him up to be the King. And was it not Moses who spent some years on the backside of the desert? And He raised Him up as well. And He raised up Aaron and the whole tribe of Levi to be priests unto Him. And He raised up the tribe of Judah to be of the kingly line and to bring about the Lord Jesus Christ. No, we find here that the Holy Spirit raised up one from the midst of the congregation to declare, thus saith the Lord. God is still doing this today. He is still raising up. He is still saving men, women, boys, and girls. He is still adding to His church. He is still raising up men, women, boys, and girls. to declare the Word of God in and through his church to lost sinners, he is still sending forth laborers, he's still sending forth his church, not just evangelists, but his church into fields that are white to harvest. He's still doing it. and He's still raising up men to stand in the pulpit and to declare God's Word according to the power and according to the Holy Spirit coming upon them. It's still being done. God's always done it and He's always going to do it until He comes for His own. Now Jehaziel, he was in the midst. He was one who came with his wife and his little ones and his children, who humbled himself. He was a Levite, but not the high priest. He was a common Levite of the sons of Asaph. Truly, as the Bible says in John 3 and verse 8, that as the wind bloweth where it listeth, so too does the Holy Spirit come upon those that He sees fit to do with. So that is the messenger. And then I'd like you to notice secondly, beginning in verse 15, the message. And boy, this is a tremendous thing that is brought out here. And you'll notice how he begins in verse 15, and he said, Harken, ye all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou King Jehoshaphat. And then notice, so he calls them to attention, doesn't he? And then He says, thus saith the Lord. And notice those next two words, unto you. You see, God speaks to His people today too, doesn't He? He speaks to us through the Word of God. He speaks to us through the declaration of the Word of God. He speaks to us through the preaching of thus saith the Lord. And we find that it was no different in this day as well. Could God have appeared in a vision? Absolutely. Could He have came in a dream later that night to Jehoshaphat? Could He have done as He had done before and filled the temple with a cloud of glory and thunders and lightnings and different things took place? Absolutely. But He came in this fashion, and His Word was declared just as it was then. He came upon the messenger, and He gave the words to the messenger to speak." God is still giving His Word unto His messengers to declare today, thus saith the Lord. We find here that the Word of God was declared. Jehaziel did not declare the traditions of men that make of none effect God's Word. Let us never attribute God's Word to a man. Let us never say when God's Word is declared, well that's your opinion. Let us never say that. Rather, let us be as the Bereans are, who didn't say, well, we've never heard this, or I've never seen this, or it's never been done this way. Rather, they searched the Scriptures to see whether these things were so or not. That's what we need to do. And everything that Jehaziel said was previously recorded in the Word of God. Everything was. He declared to them, thus saith the Lord. And thus saith the Lord unto you. You know, it's amazing. And I read a scripture to a former church member there in Kansas, and I just read him the verse. I didn't give any exegesis or exposition or anything. He said, well, this is what this means. I just read it. He said, well, that's your opinion. Isn't that something? and that insert. And that same thing happens today when God's Word is declared that folks will say, well, that's your opinion. That is as a cloak of maliciousness used to not submit to the Word of God. That's all it is. These here were told, thus saith the Word of God, and it was unto them. And you know God's word is always good for us to hear and to hearken to. Notice those words in verse 15. And he said, hearken ye. Now the word hearken doesn't mean just hear. The word hearken means to pay attention, to hear, to receive, and to do. It is a concept of many ideas wrapped up into one. It does not simply mean, well, let me hear what you have to say, and if I don't like it, well then we'll just not do it. It is to pay attention to what I have to say, receive it, and then go about doing it. And they were called to do this because again, verse 15, thus saith the Lord unto you. It was God who was speaking, not Jehaziah. It was God. And we need to remember that it is the Lord who speaks with His Word. And He's still doing it. Turn over, if you would, in Deuteronomy chapter 1. I told you that Jehaziel didn't tell them anything that God hadn't already told them. nothing that wasn't already recorded for them, or they could have went into the temple or wherever they kept the scrolls or the scriptures, they could have went right in there and said, hold on a second Jehaziel, let me take a minute, I want to verify that this is what God's Word says. Because right here in Deuteronomy chapter 1, the Bible says in verse 29, Then said I unto you, Dread not, neither be afraid of them. The Lord your God which goeth before you, He shall fight for you according to all that He did for you in Egypt before your eyes. Isn't that exactly what Jehaziel said? Isn't that exactly what the Spirit of the Lord came upon him? And he said, thus saith the Lord. And it was exactly what God said. Listen to verse 15. Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours but God's. It's the same thing in Deuteronomy 1. And they believed that it was God's Word. But if they had said, hold on, let's search the Scriptures, there it is. It's right there. So they could have walked by faith still. Could have done what God said and they did. What we find is, Cod, the Lord God, reiterated to them what He had already told them. How many times does God just reiterate what He's already told us? Three times on Sunday and once on Wednesday and anytime you open up His Word and read it at home or wherever you're at, He's just reiterating what He's already said. Because He's not saying anything new. He's just reiterating what He's already told us. It's right there for us to behold, to take note of, to believe, and to do. It's right there. We have no excuses not to do what God says. Zero. Here we find that the Lord reiterates His word to Judah. It's the same covenant, the same promise, the same agreement He made with them even before they entered the land. Even before. I mean, this wasn't even the one that he made with them when they built and dedicated the temple to him. This went all the way back to Deuteronomy. Almost to say, you think Solomon, what he asked me to do when the temple was raised and reared and built and was dedicated, you think that was something? I told you I'd already do that. No, it was already there. And he says, be not afraid. Be not afraid, nor dismayed. They were afraid, but at the word of Jehovah, and in fact Jehovah Shalom, the God of peace, the Lord of peace, there was no need to be afraid. God full well admits that it was a great multitude. But remember, as was said, that the nations are as nothing before God. As a drop in the bucket. Isn't that something? Look in verse 15. Be not afraid nor dismayed. The last phrase again. by reason of this great multitude. Don't let whatever is going on in your life cause you to be afraid or continue to be afraid or to be dismayed. Don't let the circumstances, the problems, the situation that you're in, whatever is going on, why is that? Verse 15, for or because the battle is not yours but God's. That's it. And again, this is in direct reference to the enemy. The battle, I'll let you in on a secret, the battle is always God's. It's never yours. And it's never mine. It's always His. Now how God chooses to carry on the campaign depends on His will and good pleasure. But it's always His battle. He may choose to exercise his supremacy through one man when he raised up David to slay Goliath. He may choose to limit it to a number of 300 as he did with Gideon. He may choose that it may be through the marching around a city and the blowing of trumpets that he will grant the victory. Or it may be that He may drown them all in a sea after His people walked on dry land. Or it may be that He says, the battle is Mine, but you're going to go in and fight. You see, it all depends on what He pleases and what is His will and what is His good pleasure. But the battle is His. It may be that it will be through the preaching of the gospel in our own community, through the every door direct mailers, through the distribution of tracts, going around and inviting folks to come to services, or inquiring with them of their need of Jesus Christ. Are they saved? Speaking to someone at the grocery store, going and speaking to your kids, having family altar or family worship time. It may be whatever, but the battle is hence. that God may save a lost soul. It may be through the supporting of another ministry. Whether the Lord sends one out of here, or whether He sends one out through another church and we support. It may be that through the prayers of men and women's prayer groups, or through the prayers of an old elderly individual, who enters into their prayer closet or through the prayers of a young boy or girl when they pray upon their bed at night to their God, yet the battle is the Lord's. It always has been and it always will be. The outcome is in His hands because it's His battle. And God is undefeated. and he will remain undefeated. Not even the enemy of death and the grave could have victory over him. Not even. Look at this word in verse 15. The word for. He said, be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude. He says, here's the great multitude, that's why you're scared, this is why you came to me, but you don't need to be for or because the battle is mine. What battle are you in today? What fight of the good fight of faith are you warring in right now? What sin are you warring with in your life? Is it pride? Is it jealousy? Envy? Wrath? Malice? Strife? Is it respecter of persons? Is it that you love the wrong thing and you hate the wrong thing? Is it that you're not submitting unto the revealed will of God through the preaching and teaching of God's Word? Is it that not? Or is it that you're not submitting to God's Word and participating in the evangelistic endeavors of the Lord through His local church? Is it not that your prayer life is in shambles and your Bible study is at best hit or miss? What battle are you in right now? Because if you're going to fight that battle in your own ability and in your own mind, you're going to lose every time. Now this doesn't mean that there's not something for you to do. But that battle is the Lord's. You may have to hit the off button on the TV to help your prayer life and your Bible study. You just may have to do it. You may have to quit getting on your phone and scrolling through Facebook or whatever else it is that people scroll through. Sit down and say, come here kids, or come here spouse, we're going to read some scriptures and have prayer. You may have to put aside whatever it is that you do on Saturday and say, you know what? We're going to go hand out some literature. We're going to go talk to people in the community and ask them if they know Jesus Christ as their own personal Savior. Because I cannot stand before God empty-handed one day with no souls to give Him. So I don't know what battle you're in, but the Lord does. And He's with you in it. And it's His battle. But all of this has to be turned over to Him. All of this has to be resigned unto Him. Because it's His battle. And He may call you forth to some things. And say, this is what you're going to do. Or He may just deal with it all Himself. And say, you need to stand still and see what I'm going to do. Now we notice in verses 16 and 17 that God exercises His supremacy. And if you paid attention during our questionnaire sermons, you'll know I'm talking about that He's going to exercise His sovereignty. Because He can do whatever He wants. And so God tells them in verse 16, He tells them what day He's going to do what He's going to do. He tells them where He's going to do what He's going to do. He tells Judah what they're going to do, and He tells Judah what the enemy is going to do. He laid it all out, didn't He? You want to talk about exercising supremacy, this was it. He says in verse 16, tomorrow, not today, We want God to do everything right now, don't we? God said, I'm going to do it tomorrow. You're going to have to trust me. But God, don't you know they're in G'day? I'm going to do it tomorrow. Well, they could be here by tomorrow. I'm going to do it tomorrow. He could have said, I'm going to do it a week from Thursday. He could have said, I'm going to do it a year from now. But he said, I'm going to do it tomorrow. You know, they were guaranteed of tomorrow, weren't they? I mean, this might be the only time anybody's ever been guaranteed of tomorrow. They said, tomorrow, and notice, they had something to do, didn't they? Go ye down against them. Wait a minute, God, didn't you say the battle was yours? Why do we have to do anything at all? Because I told you to. Doesn't it say you're going to save whom you will? Why do we have to preach the gospel to every creature? Because He told us to. Because that's how He's going to save His own. Through the preaching of God's Word. That's how. That's why. Tomorrow go ye down against them. Behold, they come up by the cliff of Ziz. and ye shall find them at the end of the book before the wilderness of Jeruel. Ye shall not need to fight in this battle. Set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the Lord with you. O Judah and Jerusalem, fear not, nor be dismayed. Tomorrow go out against them, for the Lord will be with you." He was going to exercise his supremacy. Again, you don't need to fight. He could have told them, you're going to go down with your swords and your bows and your arrows and your slings and you're going to go down there and you're going to fight them and I'm going to give you the victory. He could have told them, I want three people to go down there, and I want you to leave all your weapons, and I want you to take pitchers and trumpets, and I'm going to give you the victory, because he'd done that before. But he said, I want you to go down there. You're not going to need to fight, but I want you to go. I want you to set yourselves. And notice the language that's used. In verse 17, toward the end there, Fear not, nor be dismayed. Tomorrow go out against them. Go out against them! Well, if it's bad enough, we've got to go out. Why do we have to go out against them? He said we're not going to have to fight. You go out against them because I told you to. Because I'm the Lord. That's why. That's it. For the Lord will be with you. I don't believe, and we'll not get to it tonight, but we'll read in the next verses, verse 20, if you haven't already studied them. But could you imagine if they had disobeyed God and not gone out? I mean, it wouldn't be in the first time somebody disobeyed God. He'd already told them he'd give them the land and the spies went in and they said, oh, you can't do it, God. It wouldn't have been the first time, would it? It's not the first time you and I have ever doubted God either, is it? Or committed some evil conspiracy in our wicked hearts and minds against God. No, He says unto them, you shall not need to fight, but you do need to set yourselves and you need to stand still and see the salvation of the Lord with you. What a privilege God gave them to see the salvation of the Lord. What a great honor He bestowed upon them. I mean, this was nothing short of the supreme power of God that they were going to get to witness. And to see it, and to behold it. But first, and we find before this ever took place, in verses 18 and 19, we see they received God's Word by faith. They didn't receive it as Jehaziel's word. They received it as it truly was the word of God. Because verse 18 says, And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground, and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell before the LORD. They didn't fall before Jehaziel. They fell before the Lord. Worshipping the Lord. Grandpa Hilly had a lady, I don't know who she was or anything, but I had heard this story. She thought very highly of him. A lot of people thought very highly of Grandpa. And she made the comment, she says, you know, I was saved by Harry Hilly. And he goes, yeah, you act like it too. Jehoshaphat didn't bow before a man, he bowed before the Lord. That's the only person we ought to bow before. Bow and worship. Honor and glory and praise, reverence before his majesty. And all of Judah and all of the inhabitants followed their king. They all fell and they all worshiped. And notice, if you would, in verse 19, and the Levites of the children of the Kohathites and the children of the Korhites stood up to praise the Lord God of Israel with a loud voice on high. And nothing had happened yet. This isn't after the end of the battle and they've gone out the next day. This is after Jehaziel has told them what God's going to do tomorrow. This is faith right here. Because it says, and Jehoshaphat bowed his head. It hadn't even happened yet. And they worshipped God and they fell before Him. And the Bible says, with a loud voice on high, they praised the Lord God. They didn't wait until they actually had the victory because they were guaranteed it by God's Word that they began to worship and praise Him. You know, I'm not going to be saved. I'm already saved. I already have life eternal in Jesus Christ. And I have an earnest of that salvation. And one day I'm going to have all of it and experience all of it, but I'm guaranteed of it now because He said so. And because He rose His Son from the grave. That's my guarantee. All this is faith. This wasn't, well let's twiddle our thumbs all night long and get worried about it. No, that wasn't it at all. It was full of worship and praise because who through faith turned to fly the armies of the aliens. Turn over the 83rd Psalm. Psalm 83. I have understood and through study again and looking, running Scripture references, that there are many, and there are others who don't, assign this Psalm unto this occasion. And it seems fitting. It seems to fit very well. Notice Psalm 83. Keep not thou silence, O God. Hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God. Isn't it interesting? God commanded us to be still, but we're requesting of God not to be still. Verse 2, For lo, thine enemies make a tumult, and they that hate thee have lifted up the head. They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones. They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation, that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance. For they have consulted together with one consent, and they are confederate against thee. Remember, we know for absolute certainty there was Edom, there was Moab, and there was Ammon. And they made a confederacy with one another. He says in verse 6, The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites of Moab, and the Hagarins, Gebel, and Ammon, and Amalek, the Philistines, with the inhabitants of Tyree. Asser also is joined with them. They have hopin, or helped, they have been an arm, as it may be rendered, an arm of assistance, the children of Lot. Selah. And who are the children of Lot? Ammon and Moab. Next verse, 9. Do unto them as unto the Midianites, as to Sisera, as to Jabin at the brook of Kezon. And if you want to read that with Sisera, turn to Judges 4 and Judges 5 at your leisure. God did something unheard of in Judges 4 and 5. And you go and read it. But notice, if you would, verse 10. Which perished at Endor, they became as dung for the earth, make their nobles like Oreb and like Zeb, yea, all their princes as Zeba and as Zalmunna. And run scripture references for all these. Run Scripture references for all of them. See what the psalmist is talking about here. See who they're referring to and what God did to them. who said, Let us take to ourselves the houses of God in possession. Verse 13, Oh my God, make them like a wheel, as the stubble before the wind, as the fire burneth the wood, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire. So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm. Fill their faces with shame, that they may seek thy name, O Lord. Let them be confounded and troubled forever. Yea, let them be put to shame and perish, that men may know that thou, whose name alone is Jehovah, art the most high over all the earth." Now, it's very possible that this was sung on this occasion, because again, they bursted forth with praise to God. I tell you what, if we sang a hymn like this today, people would say, oh, that's un-Christ-like. No, it's not. No, it's not. And you read over this, and they said, God, defend your people. Take care of those who are persecuting us, who are coming after us, who are trying to destroy your people. They said, do it like you've done unto these others. And they went back, I'll tell you what, these singers, whoever wrote this hymn, knew their history, didn't they? They knew their Bible. They knew the history of their own people. We got a history. It's right over there in a pamphlet. It's called the Trail of Blood. You know your history? You know your church history? Your Baptist history? You know what God's done for and through and in and by His church? What He's allowed and permitted to take place for His own will and good pleasure? when He exercised His supremacy and saved and kept and preserved all through these almost 2,000 years. Do we know it? Do we know about things that took place? Notice how it all concludes, that they may know that Thou, whose name alone is Jehovah, art the Most High over all the earth. not that they may know not to ever come here again, not that they may know that we're your people, no, that they may know that you are Jehovah, or that you are, as it says here, that thou whose name alone is Jehovah art the most high over all the earth. I don't know how many singers there were, But I just gotta imagine and based on what I've read previously about the singers, that must have sounded like thunder rolling out from before that temple. And such a joyous chorus. Now turn over to Acts 16. And again, notice that here we find the Lord's church, two individuals of His church who've been sent out to declare the Gospel. Paul and Silas, arrested, persecuted in the inner prison. That was the Old Testament of Jehoshaphat, right? Here's the New Testament, verse 25. And at midnight, it's a very dark time because they're, verse 24, who having received such a charge, thrust him into the inner prison and made their feet fast in the stocks. And at midnight, Paul and Silas bemoaned and groaned and complained. Nope. I've taken people in to the jail at midnight or thereafter. They're usually not very happy clients. But here these prayed and sang praises unto God. What did Jehoshaphat and Judah do? They prayed and then they sang praises unto God. What happened to Paul and Silas? The Lord did something, didn't He? He did something, didn't He? You know what He did? He honored His Word. because he had told concerning the Apostle Paul that he was going to testify before Jews and Gentiles and kings. And at this point, he'd yet to speak to a king. He hadn't gave testimony before one yet. And he prayed, and then they sang praises, because God had already assured them that Paul had to testify before a king. He had not yet done it. Let God be true in every man a liar. He will fulfill his promise and his word. Jehoshaphat, one who turned to flight the armies of the aliens, By faith. And here they had God's Word and they received it. I mean, it was as good as done, wasn't it? Boy, we need to claim those victories and those promises that God has in His Word. They're there. And we need to act accordingly to them. That we might praise God. They had fear. They prayed. They praised God, they were going to go do what God said, and they would praise Him again. I'd like to see, as I'm sure you would, that the Lord would save people in this community and add them unto this church. Go ye therefore and make disciples. He told Paul in Corinth, I have much people in this city. We're here as a lighthouse in this community, a city set on a hill. You are the salt of the earth, he said. This is what we are here to do. So he says, go forth. Preach the gospel and then stand still and see the salvation of the Lord. Declare it. Disciple this one. Disciple that one. That's what God has told us to do. He's already told. So may God help us that we will be as Jehoshaphat and Judah, we'll take him at his word and follow at his call. Let's stand tonight.
