Continuing our teaching from Jonah chapter 3 What if you only had 40 days? We was dealing with Jonah how God has sent Jonah to Nineveh in chapter 1 of Jonah But Jonah decide to go in the opposite direction. I Brought this out in part one of this teaching That Jonah just like today We need to take serious when God gives us an assignment. Whenever God assign us to do something, you might not know in detail why he's telling you to do what you're doing. That's our problem. We want to know too much. And even after you know it, the bottom line, God is looking for our obedience. And in Jonah chapter 1, Jonah was being sent to Nineveh, which he didn't like the people, you know, history say all kind of things about the Ninevites, but basically God was telling Jonah in chapter one. I want you to go to Nineveh and cry against it or preach to the people because their wickedness is come up before me. I don't care if you don't like the people you need to obey God. Let me say that again. It's not a question of who you like. It's a question of you obeying God by sharing the word with people God send you to share the word with. So in Jonah chapter one, Jonah left and went to Tarshish. He got on a ship. He was eventually cast into the fish's belly. Jonah chapter two. I'm just kind of recapping here while he's in the fish's belly in a place he shouldn't have been. He began to pray. Isn't it amazing how people can pray when they get into trouble? But long as things are going fine people ain't even thinking about calling on god See my friend don't wait till trouble come to call on him He did say call upon me in the day of trouble. I will deliver thee But you are to glorify me, but don't wait till trouble come to call on him. You can call him now And he will hear you So in jonah chapter 2 jonah began to pray and he's praying because he can't go no way He's praying that God would cause his great fish that swallowed him to release him. So Jonah learned his lesson while in chapter two in the fish's belly. Now in chapter three of Jonah, God sends his word to Jonah again, instructing him to go back to Nineveh where you should have went in chapter one and preach unto them the preaching I gave you in chapter one that you refuse to do. Now Jonah, since he'd been through all this kind of stuff, unnecessary problems, in chapter 2, Jonah got up, went to Nineveh. Here's the point I want to get. Jonah chapter 3. And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey and cried and said, yet 40 days. And that's where our topic came from. What if you only had 40 days to get it right? So John is telling the people of Nineveh God has given you an expiration time 40 days You listening to me? What if you was told you only had 40 days to be on the planet? All kind of things will be running in your mind of what you should have done what you could do I need to do this I need to get it straight and people you need to apologize to, people that you hurt, people that you ripped off, you're probably giving their money back, all kind of things would run around in your mind knowing you only had 40 days to be on the planet. Well, the Bible put it like this, for man also knoweth not his time. We don't know when we're going to leave this world, my friend. It might be 40 days, we don't know. But imagine if you're told, like Jonah told the Ninevites, You got 40 days to get it right. But the thing that really blessed me in this story in verse five, the people of Nineveh believe God. The people believe the message God gave to Jonah to give to them because the people recognize we know what we're doing ain't right. And you listening to me, my friend, nobody have to tell you what you're doing is wrong. You know what you're doing ain't right. The good news about what you're doing is that you don't have to keep doing what you're doing. The good news about this, my friend, is that you don't have to continue to live like you live. Jesus say, come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, I will give you rest. Don't you want a change of life? Don't you want a new beginning of life? People reminding you of what you're doing is not helping you, nor is it changing you. But when Jonah went to Nineveh, and he told the people, not what they're doing, you got 40 days to get it right. The people knew exactly what Jonah was saying, because Jonah didn't point the people's sins out. He simply told them, you got 40 days to get it right. That indicated right there, the people knew they was doing wrong. You listening to me right now, my friend, Jesus loves you. In spite of what you're doing, in spite of how you're living, what if you only had 40 days to get it right? So the people of Nineveh believed God, proclaimed the fast, put on sackcloth from the greatest of them even to the least, for the word came to the king. Watch, the king got from his throne, laid his robe from him, covered him with sackcloth, and the king caused it to be proclaimed and published to Nineveh. Let neither man nor beast heard nor flock taste nothing watch this, but we gonna cry out to god In verse 10 and god saw their works. What was their works? Well, first of all the people heard the message. We got 40 days to get it, right? The people believe what god gave jonah The people begin to fast to pray They begin to repent they begin to cry out to god Have mercy upon us. We thank you for the message you gave Jonah to give to us. Jonah didn't point the people's sins out. I gotta keep saying that. He simply told them, you got 40 days to get it right. So because God saw the works of the people, watch, they turned from their evil way. Wait a minute. The people of Nineveh turned from the evil way based on the word God gave Jonah to give them. You got 40 days to get it right. You're listening to me, my friend. I'm coming to a close. What if you was told you only had 40 days to get it right? What would you do? You shouldn't wait to be told you got 40 days to get it right if you know you're not right. Behold, now is the accepted time. Behold, now is the day of salvation. You know you're not saved. You know you're not right, my friend. Excuses will cause you to go to hell, my friend. You can look at what other people are doing, what other people are not doing, as in a reason or excuse for you not getting saved. God will not accept none of that. Just like the people of Nineveh believe what Jonah preached. You got 40 days to get it right. Watch. God saw their works, that they turned from the evil way. It's time that you turn from your evil way, my friend. It's time that you turn from your sins and cry out to the Savior, whose name is Jesus. The Bible says, for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, his name Jesus, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish. See, it's not God's will that you perish, my friend, and the people of Nineveh didn't perish because they repented. And unless you repent, you will perish. You will go to hell if you die without Jesus Christ being your personal Lord and Savior. But the good news is that you don't have to die and go to hell. You can die and go to heaven when you leave the earth. And that's by you surrendering your life to Jesus Christ right now. So God saw their works that they turn from the evil way because they heard the message Jonah preached to them What if you had 40 days to get it right? It's time for you to get right now my friend You know, but you're not promised tomorrow. You're not promised the next day or whatever Behold now is the accepted time. It's time and you know, you're not right just like the people of Nineveh. I Jonah didn't mention the people's sins. He simply told him you got 40 days to get it, right? Yes, it's decision time my friend. You're listening to me. Stop whatever you're doing Stop whatever you're doing right now It's time that you surrender to Jesus What if you had 40 days and you was gonna check out of this life? You'd be doing all kind of stuff making all kind of promises trying to get this, right? No, you don't know when you're gonna leave So now why not get right right now my friend stop what you're doing bow your head at this moment. We're going to pray You're not going to just be saying words my friend because jesus is listening to you Just like the people of nineveh believe what jonah preach They recognize god gave us 40 days to get it right. You don't know how many days you got on this planet my friend It's time that you get right before you leave the earth Because if you die without Jesus, you will go to hell. But you don't have to go to hell when you die. You can make heaven your eternal resting place. Bow your head. Say from your heart, Lord Jesus, I believe you are the Son of God. I believe you came to this earth. I believe you hung on a cross. You shed your blood for my sins. I believe you died on the cross. I believe you was taken from the cross and put in a grave. I believe after three days you rose again and you're alive right now. Lord Jesus, forgive me of my sins. Wash me in your blood. Come into my heart. the Lord of my life from this day forward. Lord Jesus, I thank you for getting right with you now. As Jonah told the Ninevites, they had 40 days. I thank you for saving me today. Thank you, Jesus, for writing my name in the Lamb's Book of Life, signed with your blood. Lord Jesus, thank you for a new beginning. Thank you for now filling me with your Holy Spirit. Seal me until the day of redemption. Lord Jesus, thank you for giving me space to repent, and I've done it today. Help me to live for you one day at a time. In Jesus' name, and Father, I thank you for your word, I thank you for those who heard this simple message. What if you only had 40 days to get it right? I thank you for those who heard and like the Ninevites believed what they heard and they responded to the word. Thank you for saving, healing and delivering. Thank you for using them who responded to the word to reach others with this same word. And Father, I give you praise. I give you glory and I give you honor for doing it now in Jesus name. What if you had only 40 days to get it right?
