wonderful Holy Spirit We welcome your awesome presence in revealing the word to our hearts for this hour Holy Spirit bring conviction I Open the eyes of those that will hear this message bring mass conviction and conversion to the listeners of this message and I thank you for it now in Jesus name to the book of Jonah chapter 3 verse 4 Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey and he cried and said yet 40 days and Nineveh shall be overthrown so the people of Nineveh believe God and Proclaim the fast and put on sackcloth from the greatest of them even unto the least of them in verse 10 and God sought their works and that they turn from the evil way. And God repented of the evil that he had said that he would do unto them. He did it not. I want to look at Jonah 3 verse 4. Yet 40 days and none of us shall be overthrown. Our thought comes today. What if you had only 40 days? What if you only had 40 days? A very unusual topic here because the book of Jonah deals with a prophet that in Jonah chapter 1 that God was sending to a place called Nineveh because in Genesis I mean Jonah chapter 1 verse 2 God told Jonah get up go to Nineveh that great city and cry against it because their weakness has come up before me. It's almost equivalent to God telling Noah how the end of all flesh has came up before him. The story goes on in Nineveh in Jonah because Jonah got up but he went in the wrong direction. Instead of Jonah going to where God was sending him because Jonah at this time did not realize how serious The assignment God gave him really was. My friend, whenever God gives us something to do, it's not a game we must take serious when God gives us an assignment as to do something. So moving right along, Jonah goes to Tarshish and he goes through a lot of unnecessary things before he wind up going to where he's supposed to go. So in Jonah chapter 1, Jonah paid his fare, got on a ship, went to Tarsus, went to sleep. And the danger about that, he was sleeping in rebellion. The people begin to wonder, something got to be wrong because the ship master said, I've traveled these waters before. I've never seen storms this bad and this raging. Who's causing us these problems? The Bible goes on to say how they cast lots, and the lot fell upon Jonah. And Jonah began to tell them what he was supposed to be doing that he wasn't doing. So in order for the ship to not be tore up by the storm, they kept saying, what are we going to do? And Jonah said, well, if you just throw me overboard. So moving along again, they threw Jonah off the ship, and he was swallowed by great fish. In Jonah chapter 2. Jonah starts to praying while he's in the fish's belly. He's praying because now he can't go anywhere. But after Jonah began to repent while in the fish's belly, God spoke to the fish and the fish caused Jonah to come back up on dry land. In Jonah chapter three is our focal point. Because just like in Jonah chapter one, the word of the Lord came to Jonah, Now in Jonah chapter three, the word of the Lord is coming to Jonah. Watch a second time, giving Jonah another chance to get it right. What's amazing about this topic is what if you had only 40 days and the fact that Jonah did not realize the assignment he was given by God was so important because God always uses people to reach people. In order for the Ninevites to know what they're doing is wrong, somebody have to show them. Isaiah 58 1, cry aloud, spare not, lift up your voice like a trumpet, and show my people their transgressions, and the house of Jacob their sins. So in Jonah chapter 3, after Jonah went through all of this unnecessary stuff, he finally began to do what God sent him to do. Jonas told to get up go to Nineveh that great city watch and preach unto it the preaching that I told you in chapter 1 So Jonah got up and this time he didn't flee to somewhere else. He went to Nineveh now Jonah began to enter into the city a three days journey and watch and Jonah began to enter the city a day's journey and he cried and say yet 40 days and And none of it shall be overthrown. Our teaching comes, what if you only had 40 days? Imagine something, my friend. If you was given a message from the Creator as to only 40 days you have to be on the planet, what would you start doing? What would you begin to do? Things that you probably never thought you would do, you would probably start doing. Things that you know you should have been doing, you're probably getting in a hurry to do it. And the fact that God is telling Jonah to tell the Ninevites, y'all have 40 days before this whole city is destroyed. Think about something. What if you only had 40 days, my friend? You'd be scrambling and running around and trying to do this and trying to do that. But guess what? It shouldn't have to come to a point When you're told you got so many days and not watch something now watch this. This is so important The fact that jonah told the people in nineveh Because god told him tell them they got 40 days to get it, right? Now within that 40-day period you got from the time you hear this word Up until the 40th day and after the 40th day nineveh gonna be overthrown But now the good news about what you're hearing, my friend, it don't have to happen like that. God was telling Jonah to warn them because what you're doing, God said, is making me sick. Their weakness has come up before me. I'm giving you space to repent. That's the point. God has given you space to repent. You, that's listening to me. Yet, Nineveh had 40 days to get it right. What if you only had 40 days, my friend? What would you be doing? Oh, you probably say, man, I'll probably be in church every time the doors open. I'll be doing this. I know God called me to do this. I stopped running from God. All kind of things you begin to think and to ponder in your heart what you will probably be doing. But why do you have to wait to get the message? Like if or if you only had 40 days to get it right, you'll be doing it now. So it's like a wake up call to you, my friend. What if you all had 40 days? So Jonah is telling the people of Nineveh, God has given you 40 days to get it straight. But notice something in verse five. So the people of Nineveh believe what Jonah told them God said to him. That's amazing. But now in chapter one, if Jonah would have went to Nineveh like he's supposed to be, what he's reading or we're seeing in chapter three, what happened in chapter one? Watch this so the fact that the people of Nineveh didn't reject the message They believe God and proclaim a fast and they put on sackcloth from the greatest of them all because of the word Jonah gave them that God gave to him you got 40 days to get it right and my friend you listening to me What if you had 40 days to get it right? What if God gave you a time frame? And to be honest, the Bible says, for man also knoweth not his time. But the mere fact that the Ninevites knew they only had 40 days, that's it. 40 days, after 40 days, you will be destroyed. The people did not linger did not put make excuses The people believed what they heard jonah preaching and the people begin to respond immediately That's the point. I want you to get my friend. What if you only had 40 days to be on this planet? You'll be saying. Oh, I will go to church. I will get right. Why not do it now my friend? For man also knoweth not his time. You don't know when you're going to leave this world. The people of Nineveh had 40 days. What if you was told you got 40 days to be on the planet? And you're not going to be here anymore. You will probably start if you had sense. You will probably start trying to do what's right. Well, look at it like this, my friend. You don't know when you're going to leave this world. Why not get right now? Why not give your life to Jesus right now? Don't wait for a message to come to you. You only got 40 days to get it right. Why don't you get right now today? Behold, now is the accepted time. Behold, now is the day of salvation. And if you don't know Jesus, my friend, it's time that you give your life to Jesus Christ now. Now is the accepted time. Don't wait till you get a message like the Ninevites. You got 40 days to get it right. So if you was told, my friend, you got 40 days, what will you do? We're going to do it today. Stop what you're doing. My friend, you put off long enough. You made excuse after excuse. You blame people because you're not saved. You blame people that was probably in churches, who wasn't doing certain things. You was kind of blaming everybody for you not getting right. But do you not know, my friend, no excuse you will give to God, he will accept it. No excuse you could even concoct in your mind to say, well, I didn't give my life to Jesus, because the question gonna come to you, what did Jesus do to you? to cause you not to give your life to him. No church can save you, only Jesus. No organization can save you, only Jesus. No denomination affiliation can save you, only Jesus. Not doing good works can save you, my friend, only Jesus. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man come unto the Father, but by me. Stay tuned for part two. of what have you only had 40 days.
