H.C. Lord's Day 13 – God's Children through Christ our Lord – Sermon Outline

Intro: How do we understand being children of God, distinct from Christ eternally being God's Son?

Need: Our sonship is in terms of adoption, through Christ becoming our Lord, while Christ is not adopted but eternally, by nature, the Son of God, divine. We by adoption get all the privileges of sonship through Christ, without actually becoming natural sons/children, which is to say, without becoming God.

Theme: Through Christ the Son, we become God's children and Christ's possession.

1. We are sons of God through Christ, who is God's eternal Son by Nature.
2. Christ is our Lord by redeeming us through His blood to become His possession.
