Hello and welcome to our broadcast. We're again in the little book of Titus. Paul is writing him with some instructions on how to handle some problems there. Stay tuned. In our last broadcast, we were looking at the fact that the Bible says we are to contend for the faith. It is important to understand that it does not say we are to contend against apostasy. It's common. There's no sense contending against that. The Bible said it would be here, and it's here. But we are to contend for the faith, and there's a big difference. Now, we saw last broadcast that as you look into the book of Jude, if you study that carefully, You will find that Jude is talking about apostasy that proceeds from people who are unsaved. He says in verse 13, for them is reserved the blackness of darkness forever. He's talking about unsaved people. However, there's another aspect of apostasy, and we find that in 2 Peter 2, where it talks about Christians in the last days promoting apostasy. It says there, 2 Peter 2 and verse 1, there were false prophets among the people. Now false prophets, prophets are someone who is false, is not according to the truth. So we have some prophets here who are not according to the truth and they are among the people there. Then he went on to say, even as there shall be false teachers among you, there's going to be teachers among you that are not according to the truth. He went on to say in that verse, who privily or secretly, privately, shall bring in damnable heresies. Now, a damnable heresy, there's different types of heresies in the Bible, but this particular heresy will damn you to hell. What is it? Even, it says, they're going to bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them. Even, even denying, refusing to promote the truth. Who's doing this? Those who are bought by God. The Bible says that word bought, it's been translated redeemed three different occasions. who will privily bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them." Christians are going to do this. It goes on to say, "...and they will bring upon themselves swift destruction." Now, destruction, that word has been translated waste twice, and that is exactly what happened and is happening on a large scale. in what we used to call fundamental independent Baptist churches, where they've been destroyed, and for the most part they shouldn't even be referred to as churches anymore. They're rock fests with a little scripture thrown in, and usually those scriptures are taken from some perverted translation of the Bible. They have brought these fundamental churches to the point of waste. Now, the Bible is very plain about it here. Let me read it again. There were false prophets among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who prevalently shall bring in a damnable heresy, even denying the Lord that bought them, redeemed them, and shall bring upon themselves swift destruction. Now Paul is writing to young Titus, he's saying you've got to stop them, their mouths must be stopped, they can subvert whole houses if you don't stop them, and that is the responsibility of the pastor. The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 8 verse number 11, because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil." Because sentence, that's a decree. It is an official order that is issued by an authority. The pastor has the authority to rebuke and reprove and, like he said here to Titus, open your mouth and speak up about what needs to be spoken about. And so, Because this isn't done, because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, we find that it says the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil. Now you got the word evil here twice, evil work, to do evil. They continue to do evil. What is evil? You know, I think we don't have any problem in determining that if somebody is going to change God's plan of salvation, that is evil. You can't figure that out. You haven't got a brain. If you're going to change God's plan of salvation, that is an evil work. Because a decree, an official order issued by an authority against someone who is going to change the plan of salvation is not executed speedily. To execute something is to carry out a course of action and to do it without delay, speedily. Therefore, the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil. Now let's read our verse again in 2 Peter where he's talking about Christians promoting false doctrine. He said, Now that is happening full scale in our day and little is being said about it. Nobody's speaking up about it for the most part. You don't hear anybody getting involved with that. Don't want to touch that issue. Well, you better touch it or get out of the ministry. We should be doing what God says to do here, or go and get an honest job. Now, as we said in our last broadcast, we are commanded to earnestly contend for the faith, and that is a pretty broad subject when we're just going to talk about the faith. But in the Book of Jude, the particular thing that was under attack was the plan of salvation, and we discussed that in the last broadcast. Well, we have the same thing here again today. Some years back, Jack Hiles and the First Baptist Church in Hammond, Indiana, came out with a message that says repentance as we know it today and as we teach it today is the enemy of soul winning. Well, that's a damnable heresy to say that. Jack knows more than Jesus, obviously. Jesus said, nay, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Now, you're going to have to decide, are you going to believe Jack or are you going to believe Jesus? Jesus said, nay. He said it again right after saying it. He said it again in case you were too stupid to pick it up. except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish." No, Heil said, no, you can't get a crowd teaching that repentance stuff. And of course, that's what the focus was, you get as many people out there as you possibly could and call it soul winning. Well, when he came out with this, and Curtis Hudson, who was at that time the one in charge of the Sword of the Lord, he wrote a little booklet called Repentance, about repentance, and you can still buy them there. If you buy enough of them, you can get them as cheap as 33 cents apiece. And what they did at the Sword under the direction of Curtis Hudson was they changed their hymn book. They came out with a new hymn book, and they changed several hymns, the wording of the hymns in these hymn books. I'll give you one account. The old account was settled long ago. It says, Repent of all your sins. They changed that line. It said, Be cleansed of all your sins. They also changed three other songs and took out what they had to say about repentance. You know what that is? It's not only wrong. It's wicked. Well, not only that, they had a sermon on November the 26th, 2010, in the issue of The Sword, where Charles Haddon Spurgeon had a message entitled, Only Trust Him. It is sermon number 1635. And on page three, the sixth full paragraph down, there was an article, or there was a paragraph there dealing with repentance. Well, when they published that on November the 26th, 2010 in The Sword, they took that paragraph out. We don't want that stuff in there about repentance. I mean, we know more about it than Charles Haddon Spurgeon. We know more about it than Jesus. Well, the real problem here is the fact that preachers say nothing about it. Instead of canceling their subscription to the sword and saying, hey, you can't change the plan of salvation, we just keep on giving them out to our people and telling our people to get them. And that is why we have the apostasy that we have today. Jesus said, except you repent, you shall all likewise perish. The Bible says in Acts chapter 17 and verse number 30, that God commandeth all men everywhere to repent. What part of that is too difficult to understand? We did it that way for 2,000 years, but then recently, Hiles and Hudson, they introduced their damnable heresy that said Jesus didn't know what he was talking about, the apostles didn't know what they were talking about, all the preachers for the last 2,000 years didn't know what they were talking about. This is what we need to do. Just dump this thing about repentance or you'll never get anybody in your baptistry. Well, Paul was writing back to Titus here, and he says in chapter 2, speak sound doctrine. And he says in chapter 2 and 15, speak these things, rebuke. Now, you may not have it figured out exactly where the line is on music, and you may not have it figured out where the dress code is. You may not have that figured out. You can figure it out if you really get a hold of the Bible and let the Holy Spirit guide you into all truth. but a little more difficult to figure out than the plan of salvation. I'll give you that. The plan of salvation is a no-brainer. Now, if our pastors are not going to open their mouth and say what they need to say when the plan of salvation is being changed, when we come up with a damnable heresy, then we are seriously in trouble. And so there's two aspects of contending for the faith. One is to speak up. The second one is separation. Now, let me read this again. It says in 1 Thessalonians 3, 6, Now we command you, brethren, not a suggestion, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly and not after the tradition which you have received of us. Withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition ye have received of us." Now, if that does not include someone who is changing the plan of salvation, what is this verse in here for? It says in Romans 16 and verse number 17, Mark them which cause divisions and offenses contrary to the doctrine which he had learned, and avoid them. It doesn't get any worse than changing the plan of salvation. That is a damnable heresy. Now, our problem is not knowing the truth. Our problem is refusing to do what the Word of the Lord says, and a pastor who refuses to stand by the truth of the Word of God should really get out of the ministry and get an honest job.
