Let's walk together in wisdom's way. I'm T.J. Gentry. Today is Thursday, February 5th, 2026. This week we're drawing on the wisdom of Psalm 23. We're looking at the early verses in that psalm. Today we're gonna focus on verse two, which is describing to us what the good shepherd does, what the Lord who is our shepherd does. David writes, he leads me beside the still waters. Our devotion is entitled, We Are Thirsty No More. It's a wondrous thing.
It's even awe-inspiring to watch a river that is moving fast, and it has rapids, and the water is roiling up, and it's kind of intimidating to look at. But would you ever think, oh, I'm just going to go get a drink of that fast-moving rapid, or I'm gonna bathe in it, I'm gonna swim in it. Sheep don't think of that. Sheep don't look at roiling rapids, fast moving water, and think anything other than I need to get away from that.
Every good shepherd knows that. and the good shepherd, he knows that when it comes to the water that nourishes our souls, to spiritual sustenance, it's important that we learn he leads us to calmness and stillness. And that's where we can drink deep of the waters of his mercy and his grace. Those waters, they're living, they're deep, and they're where the Good Shepherd leads us. Let's pray together. Lord, please bring your holy stillness to my life. Amen.
