Good afternoon everyone. It's the 4th of February. It's Tuesday morning. And Mark's been reading through the book of Acts. He started yesterday. Today he's going to be reading in the second chapter of Acts. This chapter has to do with the Pentecost. And when there was a rushing mighty wind that filled all the house, and cloven tongues of fire set on them, they were filled with the Holy Spirit and they began to speak with other tongues and that doesn't mean jabber it means that they were every man in our own tongue where we were born first age Parthians, Medes, Illinois, Twelvers, Mesopotamia, Judea, Cappadocia, Pontus, Asia, Bygeria, Pamphylia, Egypt, parts of Lydia, Cyrene, strangers Rome, Jews and Proselytes, Greeks and Arabians speak in our speak, hear them speak in our tongues so they could all speak in the same, they could understand each other. And they weren't drunk either. And this was a prophecy fulfillment that was spoken by the prophet Joel, saying, I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh, your sons and daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams, and so on. And one of the most important verses in this whole chapter is showing the sovereignty of God in the crucifixion of Christ. Him being delivered by the determined counsel and poor knowledge of God, ye have taken Him by wicked hands and crucified and slain. That proves that God is sovereign over evil. And then we also see that in the final part of this chapter we see that David had been revealed to Christ. It says that, let me freely speak to you of the patriarch David. It says that he would raise up Christ, David was revealed to David that God would raise up Christ to sit on his throne. and he saw this and spoke of the resurrection of Christ and so that shows that the Old Testament saints some of the Old Testament saints God revealed Christ to including David including the prophet Isaiah including the prophet Zephaniah and so on it says they continue steadfastly in the apostles doctrine and there's many wonders of signs and wonders and they broke bread together in one accord praising God and so on so I'll turn this over to Mark and have him read this entire chapter a lot of people got off track and tried to get into all these unknown tongues and stuff and it's just not biblical Babel is not biblical The tongue speaking of in chapter acts is people speaking from other countries speaking in the same language so they could understand each other. Acts chapter 2, on the day of Pentecost before we come, They were all with one accord in one place. Suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, filled all the house where they were sitting, and there appeared unto them cloven tongues, like as a fire, and it set upon each of them. They were all filled with the Holy Ghost to begin to speak with other tongues. The Spirit gave them an utterance. It said, There will dwell in Jerusalem Jews, Protestant Jews, devout men out of every nation under heaven. Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because every man heard them speak in his own language. They were all amazed and marveled, saying, one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galileans? How, here we, every man, our own tongue, were when we were born. Parthians, Medes, Eomites, and dwellers of Mesopotamia, and Judea, and Cappadocia, and Pontus, and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, and even the parts of Libya, about Syrians, strangers of Rome, Jews, and Proselytes. Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues of wonderful works of God. They were all amazed and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this? Others, mocking, said, These men are full of new wine. But Peter, standing up with eleven, lifted up his voice and said unto them, You men of Judea, and all you that dwell in Jerusalem, be this known unto ye, and hearken to my words. For these are not drunken, as you suppose seen is but the third hour. But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel. It shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams. In my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my spirit, and they shall prophesy. I shall show wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath blood, fire, and vaporous smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, the moon into blood, before that great and honorable day of the Lord shall come. and shall come to pass that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Ye men of Israel, hear these words. Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders, and signed with God and by him. The rest of you, as you yourselves also know. Him being determined by the delivered counsel for knowledge of God, he had taken them by wicked hands and crucified, and he had slain him. God had raised up having loosed the pains of death because it was possible that he should be holding of it. From David speaking concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my right hand and my left hand, before my face, for he is on my right hand. Shall not be moved, therefore did my heart rejoice in my tongue. Be glad, moreover, also my flesh shall too rest in hope. Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer. Thou only one to see corruption, thou hast made known to me the ways of life. Thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance. Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David. that he is both dead and burned to the very end, and he simply occurs with us in this day. Therefore, being a prophet, knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that the fruit of his loins, according to the pledge, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne, he seeing that before his fake resurrection, his soul was left to help various places to see corruption, this Jesus hath God raised up where we are witnesses. Therefore, being by the right hand of God, my Pentagon highly exalted and having received his father's promise, the kingdom of the Holy Ghost, he will shed forth this which you now see and hear. For David is now sent into heaven, but he saith himself the Lord, and saith unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, until I make thy foes thy footstool. Therefore, let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God hath made this same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and God. Now when they heard this, they were piqued in their heart and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brothers, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ, for the remission of your sins, that you may receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is unto you and to your children, to all that are far off. He is as many as the Lord our God shall call. Watch, in many other words, Did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from the Torah generation? Then they gladly received his word and were baptized. In the same God-day, they were added unto them about three thousand souls. They continued steadfastly in the Apostle's doctrine and fellowship breaking of bread, and the prayers of the preachers. And my fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles, all that believed were as together in all things common, and sold their possessions and goods and part of them to all men as every man had need. and they continue daily within one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, to eat their meat in their own presence, flatness and singleness of heart. Praising God and having favor with all the people. The Lord added to the church daily that they should be saved. Thank you Mark. The daily and the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved. That's election. May the good Lord be with you today. It's my prayer. God bless.
