A Receptive Heart Is Pay Dirt
Have you ever wondered what happens to all the preaching and teaching that goes on in this world? Christians speak and write millions of words daily and yet at times it seems so little comes of it. Has God's Word lost its power? Have hearts become hardened today? The Parable of the Sower helps us understand these and other questions about the ministry of the Word. Hopefully, by understanding this parable Jesus taught you will be encouraged to share the gospel and not disheartened by Christian dropouts.
Three basic symbols must be interpreted to understand the Parable of the Sower:
I. The Seed is the Word of God.
II. The Sower is the One Who Shares the Word.
III. The Soil represents the Human Heart.
We are a society of spectators – we know how to watch, but not how to listen. But learning to listen is very important. The Bible says, So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (Rom 10:17) I think it is a crime to be a dull preacher, but you need to make dead sure you aren't dull of hearing!
