Taking Care of Supper & Storms_14 John 6:1-71Jesus feeds the 5000. He walks on water. Here we see the two miracles, the first miracle verses 1-9.The second miracle, Jesus walks on the water and steps into the boat to bring the disciples immediately to the shore. vv.16-24. Jesus teaches us that He is the bread from heaven and that all who wish to have eternal life must eat his flesh and drink his blood spiritually. But many of the Jews and the people took it literally. Many of his followers, unable to accept this difficult symbolism, deserted him. The people were seeking Jesus because he had completely satisfied them with food the previous day. And the people wanted a sign to believe in him. Physical food can sustain your physical body only for some time. It is necessary and needed, but it doesn't last. Jesus satisfies your spiritual needs now and for all eternity. Not only were there 2 miracles but there were two messages vv.25-71. These messages tell us he is the bread of life and living water. He corrected the people for their criticism. Jesus ends His second message talking about are you going to leave me too? Referring to his disciples. Peter answers the Lord, to whom would we go? You alone have the words that give eternal life. We believe them, and we know you are the Holy One of God.
