It is a blessing being here. And it's a blessing getting to see your pastor here. Normally, when I'm here in Kansas, he's in Africa, and vice versa it seems. And so, but, matter of fact, we thought we'd miss him on this trip here. But it's a blessing to see him. And again, we appreciate your church very much, and very thankful for also our brother Ben Smith. He was working with us up there in Arua. And he has a church there in the town of Arua. And then our property is about 20, 30 minutes away from their churches. And so he comes up once a week, in a Bible college there. And if he wasn't there it would be hard for us to have the Bible college. He does so much there and also with the youth camp up in that area. And it has been a blessing working together with him and getting to be there with their family some as well. It is something that we have really enjoyed. Let's take our Bibles and return to the book of James chapter tonight, James chapter 4, the book of James chapter 4. It has been a blessing to see what the Lord has been doing there in Uganda over the years. right now is we will be going back in May. We are excited about what God is doing there. We had both the youth camps in January. I was here in the States. We came back in December. And it is a blessing seeing the people there taking care of the youth camp there, the new one that we have. As our workers did all the things there, our church members there. And then also up in Arua to see what the Lord did up there as well. And Brother Ben was up there helping out and also our church staff up there. And it went very well. I think they said between the two camps they had about 300 people total. And then also several decisions made for salvation, and a number of young people surrendered their life to serve the Lord, live a life of purity, and other decisions that were made. And youth camps have been such a blessing. I know my wife and I both surrendered our life to the Lord at a youth conference many years ago. And I did not know it then at the time, but it was actually at the same youth conference that we surrendered our life to the Lord. We didn't know each other then, and we met later on at Bible college. Because of that, it's really put a burden upon my heart as far as youth conferences and youth camps. And then also in Uganda, about half the population or more is about the age of 16 or under. And so there's so many young people there, and it's a great blessing to be able to minister to that group of people and to challenge them. We want to see many churches started. And so we need to train a lot of people. And so that's why it's been exciting to sit with the Lord's students in Rwanda. And we have more students coming from Rwanda to start training and some more getting ready to go back to start more churches down there. and then up there where Ben Smith is and up the property there. We're about 30 minutes from Congo and just a couple of hours from South Sudan. And so it's put a burden for heart there as well. God burdened me for especially South Sudan many years ago, not to go there, but just a burden to see churches started. And so my wife and I, she had actually led a lady to the Lord right behind the church where it used to be many years back, about 20 years ago. And then I led her husband to the Lord. We found out he was the Roman ambassador for South Sudan. later, he was probably the one who would get support for them as they were fighting against the North, as they were fighting for the independence against the Muslims there. And so he would go around and get support and finances and weapons and things to fight in that battle. And so they both got saved. So when that country opened up for the first time, they invited me to go up there and to see there. And they told me, the preacher said, you have a car so we can drive up there and we know where the landmines are. I'm like, I think I'll fly. So I've flown up to South Sudan about three different times. through that we took some video and things and some wonderful opportunities there. And we came back here and showed that video. And that is one of the first times you would actually come to your church was when we showed that video there. And then also to others the Lord brought several missionaries over. Some works were started there. But now they have started fighting each other. They have their independence from the north but now they are fighting one tribe against the other basically like a civil war. And that is calming down some but the situation is still a bit uneasy. And so it is going to be a couple more years before missionaries might be able to go back into that country. And so yet we have the opportunity to train their people and send them back to that country as well. And so we are praying for that, that God will give us some students from South Sudan and also from Congo here in the future. And I've been talking to some of the missionaries that have some students in their churches and I've been talking to them and there are some possibilities we might see something coming up for that. So please do keep that in your prayers and that would be a wonderful thing to be able to see churches started in these other countries as well. And that is one of the blessings about kind of a melting pot where we have many people from many different nations coming in. There in the church in Kampala I think we have people from 11 or 12 different countries or something like that on a regular basis. And then of course in the Bible College people from other countries as well. And so it is exciting the opportunity that God has given us not just for Uganda but for East Africa there. And so please be praying for that. And also I was over there bugging your folks in the printing ministry some today. I asked them different questions and things because we have an opportunity now to start a printing ministry in Uganda. And as the Bible says, faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. And so we are praying we can see that get started. There is the national language in Uganda is English which is a blessing as you travel there. But then there is about 55 different tribal languages. So especially as you get up to the villages and other areas and up around the road you will be going as you get up in those villages some you will find people that do not speak English they just speak their tribal languages. And so year in our Bible college in Kampala one of the projects we had for a computer class was for them to translate a Gospel tract, or to make a Gospel tract in their tribal language. Which means we will have the opportunity to print some Gospel tracts in languages that have never had the opportunity to read the Gospel before to get saved in their language. And so it will be a great opportunity to be able to do that and to see more people getting saved. So if you would please be praying for us about that. And also as we will be headed back home there to God in the month of May. Looking forward to getting back there and getting back into things. And so here in 1 Corinthians, I'm sorry here in the book of James chapter 4 I'm going over those first few verses, verses 13-15. James chapter 4 beginning in verse 13, "'Go to, now you that say, today or tomorrow, go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain. Whereas you know not what shall be on the morrow, for what is your life?' It is even a vapor that appeareth for a little time and then vanisheth away. For that you ought to say, if the Lord will, we shall live and do this or that. Now the title of the message tonight is The God of Tomorrow. Now of course, there's a God of today and of every day. God knows all things. But you know, as we think about this, about the God of tomorrow, that should help us to increase in our faith. And as Christians, we're to walk by faith and not by sight. And we also have faith-promised missions in which we make a commitment to God which we're going to do this for this year, and this is what we'll do by faith, and yet sometimes we struggle in our walk with the Lord. Sometimes we have challenges we face, and so as we think about the God of tomorrow, and really truly believe that God knows what will happen tomorrow. Now I know we know that, but we don't always live like we believe it. Because we have what we call the realities of life also. You know, God speaks to your heart, God puts something on your heart, and you say, yes, Lord, this will be wonderful, And then we look at the checkbook and we say, but maybe next year. Maybe God, I know God you can do this, but maybe not right now. I know all of us get there sometimes, don't we? When we put things off or we put off decisions in our life because we're not sure how we can do them. I know there in Uganda several years ago, we had a pastor visiting us and I was talking about, you know, talking about things we could do and I was talking about, you know, what's your next project you want to do? parking lot." And it's like, uh, probably never happened. And I'm thinking, what God can't pay the parking lot? I'm thinking surely God can pay for a parking lot. I mean a parking lot is a lot smaller than yours. I mean it's a small area. And I'm thinking God could do that. Then I started thinking about it. Well I don't have any money. Well the church doesn't have the money to do it right now. So I'm thinking well, you know I know God can do it but maybe one day God can do something like that. But maybe just not now. You know, that same week I got a phone call from a friend of mine, he called me on the phone, he's a missionary up country, and he said, Brother James, he said, you know, we're doing a project here at our church, and the minister's up here, and it's not gonna work out, so we have some money left over that we're not, we're gonna use for this, and so, are you still wanting to pay that parking lot? And I'm thinking, yes Lord, you made me feel about that big. Now he gave us all the money we needed, we'd had for the estimate from a year before, and then we looked at that, had the people come again, we're about $3,000 short. And we now sat in the church with the Lord is doing, and one of the men in the church came up and he gave that $3,000. I didn't pay one penny for that parking lot. I think God is showing me that he can do things without me sometimes. You know, God is looking for some people he can work through. God wants us to just take that step of faith. But sometimes we put off the decision about serving God or about giving our tithe or about giving faith promise or some other thing because we don't know how we can do it. But the thing is, it's not about us, it's about God. And it's about what God can do through us, those people who take that step of faith. We had one of our young men who's actually from Rwanda. He came to our church and he got saved and joined the Bible College and worked on staff with us for about a year. This young man, I was showing him some of the finances and things. He's on staff now, and they're going through some stuff. And he was like, well, preacher, well, how are we going to pay for this? You know, he was talking about food for the Bible college students. We had about 50 at that time. And many of our students are first-generation Christians. Their parents are not happy they're even Baptist now, much less going to a Baptist college training to be in ministry. And so we have work and study programs around the church and the school and different things that we do. And he's asked me, he said, where's this money going to come from? I said, I don't know. He's like, what do you mean you don't know? I said, it's not my problem. He's like, what do you mean it's not your problem? I said, this is God's program, this is what God wants us to do, so we're gonna trust God to take care of it. Now you better make sure you're doing what God wants you to do when you do that. But when God speaks to your heart and you take that step of faith, I found that God keeps on providing. And it's amazing how our God can provide as we walk by faith and not by sight. And that's what we're talking about here tonight. The first thing is this, that God knows what will happen tomorrow. As we said in verse 15, that you ought to say, if the Lord will, we shall live and do this or that. It's according to what the Lord would desire, because the reality is we do not know what will happen tomorrow. And so we need to be faithful in serving God today. Now even when the Lord was walking on this earth, even as a child, he said, I must be about my father's business. There's an urgency to the task that he had. And there ought to be an urgency in us about being busy for the Lord. Because so many times you say, I'll do it next week, I'll do it next month, I'll do it next year, I'll do it sometime when I'm able. But you know, the devil knows if he can keep us busy and we don't serve God, he'll keep us busy. The devil knows if he can bring in a distraction or a problem and it keeps us from serving God, and we're saying I'll do it tomorrow when I'm able to, he'll keep bringing the problems. He wants to distract us. We have a real enemy today. He wants to keep us from serving the Lord. He wants to keep us from making those decisions that we need to make. And so we need to be faithful and just take that step of faith in serving the Lord. Look over in Matthew chapter six. Book of Matthew chapter six. Matthew chapter six, we begin in verse 30. Sometimes we worry so much about tomorrow that it keeps us from serving God today. verse 30 it says, "'Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat, or whither shall we drink, or wherewithal shall we be clothed? For after all these things do the Gentiles seek, for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.'" Now God's not saying these things aren't important, but God is saying, I know what you need. Now, look at this next verse. But seek ye what? First. Well, God, you don't understand my financial situation. God, you don't know the obligations that I have. And he says, I know what you need. He is the one who created us. He is the one who formed us in our mother's womb. He knows everything about us. But he says, but I want first place. We have a very jealous God. He wants that first place, not your job. Not finance, not anything else, but God wants to have first place in our life, and it says, but seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be what? Added unto you. Now it might be different here, I don't know, but there in Uganda sometimes, I've noticed that people kind of are like, God, if you'll bless me, then I can be faithful. But no, you be faithful, and God says, I'll bless you. That's how it works. God says, I know what you need, but put me first. Be faithful, like that widow lady, and the prophet came, and she was gathering two sticks, and to make a small meal, and then they're gonna die. And the prophet says, that's all right, but make me one first. God had prepared her heart, she did that, and God kept providing for them. It's amazing what God can do when we give him first place in our life. It's amazing how God can provide. You know, this next verse, verse 34. You take therefore no thought for the what? For tomorrow. You know what he's saying? Don't worry about tomorrow. You just be faithful today. You know, this is what I do with my kids even. You know, kids go through different stages of life, don't they? You know the why stage? Why, why, why, why? And you know, it starts off slow and it kind of builds and you know, you start off good with them and you might explain, but you get tired of the why sometimes, don't you? After a while it's like, because I told you so. After a while it might be because you'll be in trouble if you don't. You know, there's different answers parents might come up with. But you know, the thing is, just do what you're supposed to do and maybe I'll explain it to you later. Sometimes they give that answer too. And they just need to be obedient, don't they, our children? And we're the children of who? Children of God. He's our Heavenly Father and as He tells us, this is what I expect of you, this is what I want you to do. It's okay to sometimes ask why, but we need to be doing what He tells us to do. You know, as a child, I'm sure I never did this, but sometimes some children keep asking questions to get out of what they're supposed to be doing, it seems like. You know, if they can ask enough questions, then you know. And so, that's not how we ought to be in our life. I remember when we first started the Bible college, two of those young men came up to me, and they asked me, they said, so preacher, they said, when we're done with Bible college, so what's our salary gonna be? And you know, what about medical, and what about these things and that? I told him, I said, I have no idea. I said, I'm not gonna promise you anything. I'm not gonna promise you a job. I said, if you go down to this public university down here and apply to go to the university here, are you gonna ask them if they're gonna hire you after you graduate? Do you expect them to give you a job? They're like, well, no. I said, then why are you asking me that? I said, we're here to train you, we'll equip you, we'll prepare you to go and do the work God's called you to do, and if you do what you've been taught to do, God can provide, God can bless, but you need to take that step of faith And they did, and they're both still serving the Lord today. And that's what we need, is to walk by faith and not by sight, and trusting not in man, but trusting in God. I tell people, you know, men will fail you. People will disappoint you. Sometimes there will be misunderstandings, but we just need to be faithful in our service to God. God will never fail us, he'll never leave us, he'll never forsake us. We can trust in him. God knows about the economy and our finances. You know, the Silicon Bank people are worried People are worried about the economy. And we ought to be careful. We ought to be using wisdom with the finances God has given us. We ought to invest for the future and things. But we ought to be faithful still in our giving of our tithes and our offerings and commissions. The economy should not dictate our service to God. And so, but God knows about those things. And He's saying, hey, don't worry about it. Use wisdom. Trust God, yes. And use some wisdom. But don't allow these things to keep you from serving the Lord. God knows about this. God knows about our finances, or lack of. God knows about our job or work situation. I know there's been many jobs that have closed down over the years, especially due to COVID and different things. There in Uganda, when COVID came, they shut down the economy pretty much. I mean, they shut down all gatherings, they shut down certain businesses and other things. And they told people, now y'all have lockdown here, but it was a little bit different than ours. I called my daughter during that time and asked her, what are you doing? She said, well, we're locked down. I said, well, it sounds like you're doing something. She's like, I'm driving a Walmart. That's not a lockdown, you know? I mean, when they announced it on the TV, our lockdown was you cannot drive cars, immediately effective now. Public transportation is shut down now. You cannot leave the town or the city that you're in. You have to stay where you are. You cannot travel at all. Grocery stores and other places were open, but many people were out of work. And so there's many challenges that were there. And there's challenges that have been here as well. Now that people are uncertain because of these type things, what happens if these situations come again, and we get worried, we get concerned about these different things, and God understands these things, and we need to trust in Him. I tell you, these things can make your head feel like it's gonna explode sometimes, I'm sure. These are things that sometimes we worry about. My dad told me a story about years ago about my grandfather. He said when he was younger, he said one night his dad was up and he was walking around the living room. And he was pacing around that room and my grandma, she woke up and she said, what are you doing? He said, I'm worrying. Get up here and worry with me. And he was walking around. And she said, I'm not going to do that. She went back to bed. But I mean, there's sometimes people stay awake at night, they can't sleep. We had a lady in Uganda one time, she had a problem on Sunday, she didn't come to church, she walked right by the church. I asked her later, I said, we miss you, is everything all right? She said, we had a problem, so I couldn't come to church. And I told her, I said, when you have a problem, the first place you ought to come to is church. The first place you ought to come to is the Lord in prayer. Isn't it amazing that we don't go to church, we don't pray as we ought, and then we have problems? We ought to be faithful in our prayer life, not just when we have problems, but all times. God knows about our situations, God knows about our health, with the health of our family. He knows these things. We normally don't come back in December and things like this, but we came back a little bit earlier this time. And I was thinking about changing it, but I just felt the Lord would have us come back that time. And I went into a Walmart. We don't have Walmarts in Uganda. I told some of my friends who are missionaries in Mexico, I said, if you have Walmart, McDonald's, you're not a real missionary. Okay? But anyway, We came back and there's a Walmart, they went in, they have this, you know, they have these machines to check blood pressure and things. I went and checked it and mine is a bit high and so I had to go to the doctor. And so, I mean, there's like lights and whistles and everything going off on that thing. And so I had to go to the doctor and they told me if we had not been there, it's possible I was basically at stroke level. And so it was a blessing the Lord brought us back early. I didn't know I had a problem. I didn't know I had any symptoms of anything. But you know who knew? God. You know who brought us back early? God. It's amazing how He can take care of us. Even when we don't know we're having a problem, God's at work in our life to take care of us. You know, God knows about even traveling and things of this nature. I know you have a group traveling this week. God knows about those different things. God's in control. I know several years ago we took a missionary trip there in Uganda. A friend of mine and I, another missionary, we had a national pastor come to us and ask us to go out to some of the islands out there like Victoria. And so we want to go three different islands to see about starting churches out there. And so we thought that'd be a good thing. And we only had one day to do it, though, on a Friday. And then on Saturday, we needed to be back because we had a big so on and day plan and everything. And so Lake Victoria is the second largest freshwater lake in the world. There's no way we could take a boat and go to those three islands and be back in one day. We found out that in Uganda, they had a seaplane there. And so for $100, they take us to those islands, get us back on that same day. And so I had never been on a seaplane before, but we went out there and we took off. It was a wonderful thing. And we landed from the proms there at that island. And we walked across the island. It was about 30, 40 minutes. We walked across that island to the other side. And there were some people there waiting on some trees. We preached the gospel to them. And as we preached, the pilot went back and got the plane and brought it to the other side, because he said, we're in a hurry. We want to get to these islands today and get back. So he brought the plane back there, so we didn't have to walk another 30, 40 minutes back to the other side. And so he came back there and he landed on that other side. preaching, had a good time there and went back to get in that plane and ready to take off and not knowing what God had planned. We didn't realize that God had a different plan for our trip than what we had planned. And so anyway, it was an interesting trip that went on there. I'll share more about that in just a moment. But you know God does want us to know His will. You know in this verse that we read in verse 15, that you ought to say that the Lord will, we shall live and do this or that. You know sometimes we make our plans but sometimes God has different plans. And I found that to be true in my life. And one of the things I learned about praying is, you know, sometimes we pray and say, Lord, do you want me to do this or do you want me to do that? It's like we're kind of putting God in a box and giving God two choices to make. But really it ought to be, God, do you want me to do this or this? Or is there something else you'd have me to do? I know we learned that God had some other plans for us on that trip. You know, the Lord's will. What is God's will for my life? You know, sometimes people ask me, well, how do I know if God wants me to be a preacher? How do I know if God wants me to be a missionary? I've had people tell me that, you know, I feel like this is something that God wants me to do, but I'm not sure. I mean, how do I know if that's God? And I asked them, I said, well, do you think the devil's gonna call you a preacher? Do you think the devil's gonna call you a missionary? Well, I don't know. Well, then who do you think it is? And the Bible says if you desire the office of a bishop, if you desire that, that's a good thing. I think it's Dr. John O'Reilly, somebody asked him, Well, when did God call you as a preacher? And it's like, well, I don't know if he ever did. I just volunteered and God never stopped me. No, God's still taking volunteers today. God's still looking for some people that he can work through. They say the greatest ability is availability, making ourselves available to God, but not just for the mission field, not just to maybe be a pastor somewhere, but to serve in your church right here, to be faithful in the ministries here. There's always opportunities to serve, whether it's soul winning or helping other things Sometimes people are like, well, if I just do what God wanted me to do. Well, if you're not sure, go ask your pastor. I'm sure you've got a list of things that need to be done. There's always opportunities to serve, especially in an independent Baptist church. There's always so many things that need to be done. And so finding God's will for our life. You know, we got back in that plane to take off again. And the takeoff was very good, like it was the first time. We got up in the air about 15 feet. And that plane crashed down in the water. We started bouncing off the water. And it was quite violent. And I'm looking at the pilot. I asked him, I said, is this how these things are supposed to be? And he said, no. And I'm looking out the window. They have a pontoon. You know, the plane goes on those pontoons in the water. I'm looking out there thinking that things are going to come off and we're going to be scattered all over this water. And I'm praying to God about his will for my life and saying, Lord, don't forget you call me as a missionary here. I don't want to die right now. And I keep serving you, you know? And so anyway, we tried taking off twice that way. And the same thing happened each time. We went back to the island there on the beach and he got out and he opened the hatch on that pontoon on that right side and it was full of water. So he started pumping out that water and it stayed at lake level. He figured out what happened, we'd taken off from that other side, he must have hit a rock and it put a hole in that pontoon and so now there's nobody could take off, there's too much weight. So this man was saying, well there's nothing we can do, we can't take off now. And he said, but we can get a rescue boat to come out. And he said, the rescue boat's on the way, but they won't be here till it's dark. And he said, so we're going to ride tonight, but it'll be dark. And he said, but there's also smugglers out on the water at night. And I'm thinking, that doesn't sound too good. I'm thinking, and we're asking, is there any other options? We really don't want to be out when the smugglers are out. I'm thinking, no, these are criminals and things. They might decide to be robbers and thieves as well. And so we're talking about it, and the pilot said, well, the plane is basically like a boat. He said, we can take the plane to this other island. There's a larger island out there that had a hotel on it and a dirt landing strip. And he said, we can get another plane to come and take us back to the mainland. So we thought that would be a good idea. So we got on that boat, and we started going. And then we were going straight, but after a few minutes, the plane started turning around. We came right back to the island. And he said, this pontoon has a lot of water in it, and the weight is making us go in a circle. So he said, let me give it more throttle, or more gas, you could say, and see if we could go. So he gave it the throttle, we're moving down there, and we went farther, but we came right back about to that island. And we're like, is there anything else we can do? And the pilot said, well, he said, if we can balance out the weight on the pontoons, then maybe we can make this work. So he looked at me and my friend, and he said, how would you guys like to ride on the outside of the airplane? And we're dumb, so we're like, yeah. So we get out, we're standing on the pontoon, we're holding on to those things, the water's flying up and the wind's blowing, and man, he gave us the thought of where we're moving, and we went farther, but the plane turned back around again to that island, so we're stuck there on the island now, and nothing we can do, and so as we're waiting there for that boat to come, for the smugglers at night, then another boat passed by, probably from here to the front of the church up there where the cars come through, maybe not so far away, I mean, I can look there and see the people very clearly. It's what they call a banana boat. It's a wooden boat, about eight feet wide, about 40 feet long, and they'll put like timber down there and all sorts of things, and people sit on top of that. And so I'm thinking, man, the Lord's answered our prayers, we can get a boat right here, get back to the mainland today, do our sowing program tomorrow. So I'm all there hollering and waving, and they can't hear me probably because of the motor on the boat, but I know they should be able to see us. And we're hollering, and they're not even looking at us. I mean, this is unusual, people always look around. I know how you pray to the Lord, I'm like, Lord, you need to help us out here, Lord. We're gonna miss this boat, we're gonna miss this opportunity, and Lord, we need to go somewhere tomorrow, and I talk to the Lord, tell him he needs to help us, and nothing. And they just went right on by and never even looked at us. It's not that they looked at us and just kept going. Nobody even turned their head to even see us. And so they went on by us, and now we're waiting for the rescue boat and smugglers. And so the boat did come, and we got back to that other island without any incident, which was a blessing. And we got back there, and their insurance paid for us to be at that hotel and to stay there that night. And so as we were there at that hotel, we got to meet a man who actually owned that island and owned that resort that was there, or the hotel. And as we got to talking to him, he told us, he said, well, guys, he said, actually, I own most of the islands around here. And these islands you want to start churches on, I own those too, and there's people living on them, yes. But he said, but you're supposed to come talk to me if you want to start, if you want to build buildings and things on my islands. And he said, but you have permission to do that if you like. And so now we're saying, wow, this is amazing what God has done. He brought this problem to get us to this place to meet this person that we didn't even know we needed to see to get permission to do these things. You know, God can use our problems to fulfill His will for our life. Sometimes we get upset and annoyed at God, sometimes, you know, maybe, we don't say that, but we get upset. And we're thinking, man, I miss the boat, I miss my opportunity, I miss this chance, I miss these things. But God's at work in our life. Sometimes these things we see as problems, God sees as opportunities to get us to the place that He wants us to be. And doesn't the Bible say all things work together for what? to them that love the Lord. Sometimes I have to remind myself, yes, Lord, I love you, so I know this is somehow good. Oh yeah, God works through those challenges. God works through those things. We just have to learn to trust him, and even though we're going through trials, to be faithful. God knows what will happen tomorrow. God wants us to know this. One last thing is this, God knows what is best. You know, in James 4, in verse 16 and 17, it says, but now you rejoice in your boastings, all such rejoicing is evil. Therefore, to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not to him, it is sin. You know, we think we know what's best. We have our plan, our agenda. I was planning on joining the military, or maybe being a police officer when I was younger. My dad is in the Air Force. I grew up on and around military bases. That was my plan for my life, and I didn't know until I was 17 years old that God had a different plan for me. I not even really prayed about it. I'm just thinking, this is what I need to do. And it's at that youth conference that God showed me He had something else for my life. You know, each one of us ought to be praying and seeking God's will. Not just thinking that this is the best plan for my life, but finding out, is this God's plan for my life? Is this what God had had me to do? Each one of us ought to be praying about that. You know, I mentioned about that boat ride that we were on and about going out to that island. We missed that day of sowing that Saturday morning at the church because we had to spend the night on that island on Friday night. We were waiting for the rescue plane to come get us to take us back to the mainland. And that next morning, Saturday morning, I'm out exploring the island, we get a phone call. And I answer the phone, and the guy who called me, he said, Pastor, he said, are you alive? I said, yes. I said, do you normally talk to dead people? I mean, why are you asking me if I'm alive? I mean, is this something unusual for you? I mean, me talking should be an indication of the fact that I'm alive. And so a preacher who said that boat you tried to get on yesterday, he said it sank and everybody on it died. Now I went from complaining to God to being thankful to Him. Because if I had been on that boat, I may not be here today. I thought I was missing an opportunity. I thought this would be best, but God knew it was better. Sometimes there's opportunities that come that we think are such a good thing, and it might pass us by. Don't allow those things to discourage you and to keep you from serving God. God is getting you to the place that He wants you to be. since you can more effectively serve him. Just like we did with us, we missed the boat. But God was taking care of us. God was watching over us in our life. You know, in everything that we do, we ought to seek God's will. Sometimes we think yes in spiritual decisions, no in every decision. And if you're thinking about moving, have you prayed about it? If you're thinking about going to university somewhere, have you prayed about that? Have you prayed about, what does God want me to do? Does God want me to be in ministry? Does God want me to do some other thing? There in Uganda, we tell all of our young people, you ought to go to Bible college for at least one year. You gotta go to Bible college here to get trained in the word of God for at least a year, so then you can be a good Christian doctor, a good Christian lawyer, a good Christian technician, whatever it might be, so that you can more effectively serve God in your life. So many times, people don't know the word of God as they ought to. It's good to have a solid foundation in the Word of God. Giving God first place in our life. Saying, Lord, here am I. What would you have me to do? It doesn't matter how old you are. My dad's about 63 years old when God called him to go start another church. Some people try to discourage him. He came and asked me about it. I said, well, are there any young men going? He said, no. I said, well, God's called you. You ought to go. And now he started a church here in Conway, South Carolina. Listen, we don't retire as a Christian until you get to heaven. Amen. And then we'll be praising God together forever. We need to be faithful until death. We need to be faithful in our life as a church member and being faithful in ministering in our church and giving our tithes and supporting the ministers here and giving to missions and going to all the world to preach the gospel. Then also in living our life for him. There may be someone here this evening that God is speaking to your heart about something. Maybe you need to start going to someone. Maybe you need to seek God's will for your life. Whatever it might be, trust in the Lord. Don't put off that decision. Don't say, I'll wait and do it someday. Pray today and seek God's will for your life.
