That's good to be here. Amen. I don't know who told Brother
Darnell this was a white church. He didn't know he was all black.
He can't see. We'll take your Bible tonight.
Turn to 1 Samuel chapter 14. Amen. Who's that ugly rascal
back there on the back? The ball-headed one back there.
Oh, yeah. Amen. We got in a big way at
camp one year and he grabbed me and picked me up off my feet.
Amen. He couldn't run with me, but
he picked me up. He had supernatural strength that night. Amen. We've
had some good times together, everybody. Amen. Well, tonight
with this chapter, I hope you're a student of the Bible. I really
do. And I hope you like fighting. Amen. Fighting. Yeah, like wars
and stuff. How many of y'all like that?
Amen. This Bible, especially the Old
Testament, this is a militant book. I was preaching one time,
we was up in New York, and I made a guy mad. I know that's hard
for y'all to believe that. But a guy came to me and I was
preaching about David and Goliath. And he comes to me and he goes,
you offended me tonight. Like, what do you say to that?
I'm like, oh, come here. I don't know what to say to that
fellow my size. And he says, I don't understand.
He said, are you advocating violence? I said, listen, buddy, David
killed Goliath. He went and got a rock out of
the brook, put it in a sling, slung it, and sunk it in his
head. And then jumped on top of him
and hacked his head off with his own sword. Yeah, and carried
the head around with him. Can you get any more violent
than that? He kept the head in his tent. Amen. And he says, well, I just don't
like that. And he says, I guess you support our troops too, huh?
I said, yes, I do. Amen. I said, I got two brothers
who fought in Vietnam. My dad fought in World War II.
And he goes, well, I ain't supporting a bunch of baby killers. Amen. I thought, I said, I'm
not a bishop. Amen. I'm an evangelist. I can, I can be a striker. Amen. But this chapter in the word
of God, and I hope you, this is a, this is a hot seat up here,
especially in revival services. I mean, you want to have the
right message every night. Amen. So if you all will help
me, amen, give me an amen every once in a while, or a scowl,
a scowl will work too, amen. Or you roll your eyes at me or
something, that'll help me preach too. But this chapter in the
Word of God, as far as I'm concerned, it's just as miraculous to me
as when David killed Goliath. Amen. This is about Jonathan
and his armor bearer. Amen. I mean, I even like that
term, armor bearer. But look at verse number one,
and we're going to look down through here, so you all just remain
seated if you don't mind. Amen. Because I'm going to look
down through here, chapter 14, 1 Samuel chapter 14. Amen. Everybody's
there except the pastor. Amen. Amen. The Bible says, Now it
came to pass upon a day that Jonathan the son of Saul said
unto the young man that bare his armor, Come and let us go
over to the Philistines garrison that is on the other side, but
he told not his father. So it's just Jonathan and his
armor bearer. It's just the two of them. And
they're going to take on, they're going to go up here to a whole
garrison of Philistines. And that's impressive enough
as it is. Can I get an amen right there?
Amen. And instead of reading all of
it, they go to this place and there's two in verse number four,
There's this passage there, it's got two sharp stones, and the
stones are even named, and I was listening to preaching, and World
War I, there was a British general that was facing the Turks, and
they got to this place, this place was called Michmash in
the Bible, and they got to that place, and that British general,
the guy come told him, said, this is the place in the Bible
where Jonathan and his armbar were, we're right at that place,
and they found these two sharp places these two big rocks and
it helped them that day. Amen. When you're in between
a rock and a hard place, you might want to get right with
God. Amen. But I want you to look at verse
number six. And the Bible says here, And Jonathan said to the
young man that bears armor, Come and let us go over unto the garrison
of these uncircumcised. Now, whenever a soldier fighting
for Israel Calls the Philistines uncircumcised. It's bad medicine. It's going to be a bad day for
somebody. Amen. And I love these next words.
This is the message. Look what it says. It may be
that the Lord will work for us. You see that? You know what that
also means? He may not. Amen. It may be the Lord will
work for us, or it may be He won't. But you know what they
did? They went anyhow. Amen. And that's the faith, folks,
that I'll show you here in a little bit, what God did with these
two men. Now, what we need here tonight
is we need some, it may be, Christianity again today. Amen. It may be the Lord will use us. Or maybe he won't. Man, as dumb
as we are, it's a miracle we can even come have church. It's
really a miracle for any of us to be able to preach. Amen. Or be able to have an organized
service like this. It's a miracle. Amen. And especially for God to be
with us. But it may be the Lord will work
for us. Or maybe he won't. And I don't
know about you, anybody here that has a call of God on their
life, you felt at some time that God had made a mistake. Can I
get a witness? I remember when I told my wife
that I thought God called me to preach. And here she was,
you know, 100 pounds, and I was scared to tell her. I said, what were you afraid of?
Rejection. I didn't want to be laughed at. Everybody in here
is laughing at me right now. But I told her I was driving
down the road, and I said, honey, there's something I need to tell
you. And she's like, what? I said, well, I feel like, you
know, I think, I feel like, I think the Lord's calling me to preach.
And she looks over and she goes, you sure? And I said, well, he
hasn't tattooed it on me anywhere or anything like that. But yeah,
I'm pretty sure. And I told my mom and dad, and
they went, you sure? Everybody I've said that to,
you sure? Some of you all are saying it
right now. You sure? Amen. And anybody here that ever did
anything for God that called you, you felt like, man, I can't
do nothing. But I'm going to tell you where God steps in is
when you go ahead and do it anyhow. Amen. You go ahead, and it may
be the Lord will work for us, or it may be He won't. But we're
going to go anyhow. Amen. And then look what it says.
It says, For there is no restraint to the Lord to save by many or
by few. Amen. Just the two of them. And
I love this in verse number seven. And his armor bearer said unto
him, Do all that is in thy heart. Turn thee. Behold, I'm with thee
according to thy heart. I say it like this. I'll paraphrase
it like this. His armor bearer went, I Hi. You got a crazy look in his eye.
Hi. You want to go? OK. Just the
two of us? Just the whole garrison? Hi. I'm with you. Whatever you want
to do, I'm with you. Amen. And here's the difference,
folks. Here's the difference on whether
or not you're going to submit yourself to amount to anything
doing anything for God. if you will trust a man that
God has put it on his heart and say, all right, I'll go with
you. Amen. I'd never be right here
where I'm at now if I hadn't of one day with the pastor, the
preachers I was with, I went, all right, I'm with you. Amen. When I got saved, I didn't understand
three quarters of what they were talking about. Amen. I wasn't
in church. I didn't know anything about
the Bible. But I went, all right. All right. Preacher says that's
wrong. All right. We'll quit it. I'll get my hair
cut. I'll look like the rest of the
nerds. Amen. I'll say amen. All right. I'm with you. Amen. And I'm going to tell you, God
Almighty has sure been good to this old boy. Amen. He says, all right. Let's do
it. Amen. And I'm telling you, that's
so foreign to today's philosophy. Amen. Then he says here, we'll
skip down. Look at verse number 12. It says,
And the men of the garrison answered Jonathan and his arbor and said,
Come up to us. And Jonathan had already said,
If they say this, they're ours. Amen. If they say come up to
us, we got them. We own them. Amen. He said, come up to us and we
will show you a thing. And Jonathan said in his armor
bearer, come up after me, for the Lord hath delivered them
into the hand of Israel. Oh yeah. And Jonathan climbed up upon
his hands and upon his feet and his armor bearer after him, and
they fell before Jonathan. And his armor bearer slew after
him. You see that? You say, what is
that? Jonathan's knocking him down
with that sword. He's taking legs off, ears, arms. Amen. They're falling and his
armor bearer's coming behind him going, amen. I said, what's he doing?
He's killing him. I said, well, I don't like that. Well, tear that part out of your
Bible then. That's what happened. Amen. And God was in it. I'll
show you here in a minute. If I got any unbelievers in the
house, I'll show you how the Lord was in it. Amen! And we're living in such a 65
age today. My goodness. Amen. If you did get in a fight, you'd
send your wife out first. Did I say that out loud? I don't know. She may be tougher
than you are. I don't know. But look what it says in verse
14. Are y'all with me? It says, "...and the first water,"
that's the word in it, "...which Jonathan and his armor-bearer
made was about twenty men, as it were a half-acre of land which
a yoke of oxen might plow." So here they go and they kill twenty
guys, twenty soldiers, the two of them. Amen! Man, what a deal. I don't know about you, I'm impressed
with that. You take 20 men in here that
are fit to be soldiers, I don't know if we got 20 in here that
are fit to be soldiers. Some of us, you can't run a mile,
are you kidding? I can run a mile, it just took
me 25 years to do it. I've run enough aisles, I think
I've run a mile in the last 20 years. Amen. And a lot of you military guys,
you know what it takes to get in shape. Amen? And 20 soldiers, armor and all,
and here these two guys go and take them out? Amen. I want you to notice the verse
15. I want you to see what happens now. Here's where God moves in.
And there was a trembling in the host, in the field, and among
all the people. The garrison and the spoilers,
they also trembled. And look at this. And the earthquake. So it was a very great trembling. Here's where God moves in. So
what happened? God shakes the earth. So what
made him do that? Jonathan says, it may be the
Lord will work for us. Amen. And then that faith, listen,
that faith, it got a hold of the heart of God. God shook the
earth and caused an earthquake and a trembling. Amen. I'm serving notice on you here
this evening. He'll hear you. I mean, hey,
it may be God will send the Bible. It may be He won't. But we're
going to go ahead and ask Him for it anyhow. We're going to
go ahead and step forward anyhow. Maybe the Lord will shake this
place up. Hey, there needs to be a shaking
going on. Amen. You boys that are here,
you need to be shook up some. You say, well, they're good kids.
We know. That's why you need preached to. Amen, you young
ladies. Thank God you're here. I love
you, but hey, we need to shake them. Amen. Used to be the young men around
here shouted. Now you sit there like a deadhead.
Amen. Say the earthquake, God moved.
Amen. What if God just did that in
here for a little while, just took this part of Kansas County,
just shook right here in the church and these lights start
popping and ceiling tiles start falling down. Amen. Say why? Because somebody in
here got a hold of God and God moved. Hey, we need somebody
to get a hold of McGeehan. Amen. But I'm telling you, I'm part
of the lineage. I'm part of inheritance. I'm
part of the old time way. I ain't giving in to this new
junk. Amen. I'm so narrow-minded, you can
shoot a BB and knock both my eyes out. Huh? I'm this narrow-minded right
here. I'm that narrow-minded. Amen. I know what works. I know what the old time way
is. And I sure know what it ain't. Amen. Then it says in verse number
16, it says, And the watchmen saw, and Gibeon and Benjamin
looked, and behold, the multitude melded away. And they went on
beating down one another. You see that? I mean, I don't
know if you're a reader or not, but here the whole Philistine
army, all of them's pleading now. Say, why? Because of this,
it may be the Lord will work for us. And buddy, He did. But I'll tell you what they had
to do. They had to get their hands bloody. They had to get
in there in the fight. Well, let me ask you, you in
the fight? How about you, sir? You in this fight? Amen? You in this fight? Brother Darnell
talked about being, amen, talked about that ham being USDA. Are you, amen? You got heaven
seal on you? You want his? I'm a soldier in
the army of God. The Lord Jesus Christ is my commanding
officer. The die has been cast. I've stepped
over the line. Amen. I'm one of His. I'm one
of the Black Watch Band. Amen. I'm a King James Bible
believer. I'm a narrow-minded, pin-headed,
independent Baptist. So you independents got a lot
more. What are you? What are you? Amen. Amen. Man, I'm feeling my oaks
here tonight. Amen. For the Darnell, he earned me.
Amen. That bootleg preaching got me.
Amen. Look at verse number 17, it said,
Then said Saul unto the people that were with him, Number now,
and see who is gone from us. And when they numbered, behold,
Jonathan and his arm of air were not there. And Saul said to Ahai,
Bring ye into the ark of God. For the ark of God was at that
time the children of Israel. Now let me ask you something.
If you're a Bible reader, do you have a whole lot of confidence
in Saul with the ark of God? Do you have any confidence with
Saul and the priest? Any confidence at all? Has he
not already proved himself to be an idiot? Amen. I mean, he's got an evil
spirit on him. He tried to kill David with a javelin. David spared
his life. Amen. I mean, the Bible said
in verse 19, it came to pass while Saul talked unto the priest
that the noise that was in the host of the Philistines went
on and increased. And I love this. And Saul said
to the priest, withdraw thine hand. He said, well, there's
no need to go to the ark. There's no need to ask the priest.
He said, why? The Philistines are fleeing.
Lord, do we go after them? Duh. Amen. You know what, Jonathan? You know the kind of faith that
Jonathan and Saul, you know what the difference was? Jonathan
didn't go back and get the art and get the ethos and all that
and try to find out, should we go after the garrison? Should
we go up there and fight these guys? No, he just said this,
it may be the Lord will work for us. And buddy, that got God's
attention. Enough to where God caused an
earthquake and caused them all to flee. And now there's this
great victory. Amen. I hope you see this, and
I'm telling you, this is some kind of chapter. Amen? Verse 20, And Saul and all the
people that were with him assembled themselves, and they came to
the battle. But this is a battle. Amen? You assembled yourself
here tonight in the battle. Amen? We're in the battle for
God and the right. Amen? This whole world, I'm telling
you, these people out here in this world, they're blowing their
brains out on dope. Huh? These kids, man alive. Amen. They do not need a cell
phone. They don't need a computer. If
it is, you better monitor everything they're looking at. Amen. There's a fight going on. Amen. I'll preach more about that later
in the week. Man, I'm telling you, we're in a mess. Amen. The Bible says in the middle
of verse number 20, they came to the battle. Behold, every
man's sword was against his fellow, and there was a very great discomfiture. I love that word. Say, what does
that mean? I don't know, but I don't want to be killed with
one. Yeah, I've seen the battle took
place. I've seen it. Amen. Nathan got killed with
a discomfiture. Amen. There was a very great
discomfiture. Look at verse 21. Moreover, the
Hebrews that were with the Philistines before that time, which went
up with them into the camp from the country roundabout, even
they also, look at that word, what's that word say? Turned. Are y'all on the same page I
am? Let me try it again. Even they also, what? Turned
to be with the Israelites that were with Saul and Jonathan.
You know what they did? The traitors came back. The backsliders came back. God
was moving. Amen. This is likewise all the
men of Israel which had hid themselves in Mount Ephraim. Amen. When they heard that the Philistines
fled, even they also followed hard after them in the battle.
I couldn't tell you how many of my friends and brethren, people
I've preached to in little churches like this all over America, how
many of them have hid themselves. A bunch of them's out. They're
not with us anymore. I'll never forget, me and Brother
Danny Hall, we were questioning the guy. He had got off in the
false doctrine. He became a hyper-dispensationalist.
And that hyper-dispensationalist, he don't believe, you know, if
it's not Pauline epistle, it don't apply to us at all. So
he said, God does not chasten us. You don't, amen, you don't
sin. God, there's no need of an altar.
Amen. And buddy, he got off on the
deep end, and I'll never forget me and Brother Danny were questioning
him. Brother Danny said, let me and Brother Mark take our
Bibles, talk to you about this. He goes, oh, no. He said, I'm
not going to be grilled with you guys. And Brother Danny looked
at him and asked him a question that has haunted me. You talk
about should have submitted. Here's another one. He looked
at him and he goes, are you still one of us? Brother Danny Hall, one of the
nicest fellers I've ever been around. He looked at me and says,
what do we tell everybody about you? You still one of us? What do we tell them when they
ask us? What do we tell them? Well, he
got smarter than all of us. Really? All of us? Smarter than Brother Don Green? Smarter than Brother Earl Hughes?
Smarter than Brother Lackey? Smarter than Donnie Davis? Amen. You with us? Brother Jim Chandler, he had
Dr. Upman come in his church. It's been a good while ago, I
guess 10 or 12 years ago. And Dr. Urban, he was in his
90s, you know, when he was coming, he said, hey, Doc said he's going
to come to Urbana. And I said, well, great. And
I said, don't advertise. He said, why not? I said, you'll
have every nut. Amen. They'll come out of the
woodwork. And sure enough, he said, he called me, he said,
you were right. He said, I stopped one guy and said, hey, how you
doing? I'm a pastor here at Jim Chandler. He said, where are
you from? He goes, I'm from Mountain View. He goes, oh, really? He
goes, where do you go to church? He goes, well, we don't go. He
said, well, are you saved? He goes, yeah, we're saved. We're
Baptist. He said, where do you mean you
don't go to church? He goes, well, we order stuff
from the bookstore down there. Cuckoo, cuckoo. Amen. Bing. Amen. And say, what is that? There's a bunch of them hid around
here. There's a bunch of them hid around here. I could name them. I know
some of them sitting here. Used to run the aisles in the
shop. Where they at now? They're hid. Amen. Say, what happened? The world
got in. Some little old gal, some little streaky-headed gal
got them. They fell in love. Oh, really? They fell in love with her and
out of love with God. They fell in love with him and
out of love with the church. Amen. Y'all might not want to
amen me here. I just leave it. It'll spur me on to preach harder.
Amen. Say, what are you talking about?
I'm talking about all of them that came out of the woodwork.
Because God moved. Say, why did God move? It may
be the Lord will work for us. And I want you to notice verse
23. If you don't think this chapter
in this story here is amazing. Look what it says. These words
here. So the Lord saved Israel that day. And the people passed
over on the Beth Avon. I read that brother Nathan and
I'm reading this story and I'm telling you, I got chills up
my back. The Lord saved Israel. So how'd
that start? One guy. It may be. The Lord will work
for us. Where's that simple faith at
nowadays? Amen. If you're sitting here
and you're hypercritical, you wonder if any of us guys up here
called to preach. You wonder if any of us got any
sense. Let me answer that for you. But I like the way we're doing
it better than the way you ain't. Amen. And it just, it
just something happened down inside of us that we just figure
if God's going to do anything, amen, maybe He will, maybe He
won't. Amen. But we're going to go with
Him anyhow. We're going to follow the priest and ignore the world.
Amen. We're going to get in, we're
going to tithe, we're going to give demissions. Amen. We're going to give big chunks
of money during revival to the evangelists. Can I get an amen right there?
I'm going to go clean my bank account out. Amen. No, I'll do that for the next
fellow that comes in. Just half of it will do now. Amen. And look at this. I want to show
you this. We'll look at this part. And this is a whole other
message, but man alive. It all goes together. And the
men of Israel were distressed that day, for Saul had adjured
the people, saying, Cursed be the man that eateth any food
until evening, that I may be avenged on my enemies. So none
of the people tasted any food. Let me ask you military men and
ladies something here. Answer this. travels on its stomach. So what a dumb decision that
Saul made not for any of them to eat anything. That was dumb. Amen. I'll spiritualize this
if y'all let me. Amen. I've been to some churches
and I've been around some pastors that they're almost that bad.
But you're in the church, and you all, folks, and you're represented
in the church, that you can go there and get something to eat. Amen. It's available. Amen. And you can go on that strength
for a good while. Amen. But if you won't come and
eat, if you won't come and dine, you'll get anemic. Verse 25, it said, And all they
of the land came to a wood, and there was honey upon the ground.
Man, I like this. And when the people were coming
to the wood, behold, the honey dropped. But no man put his hand
to his mouth, for the people feared the oath. Now, I've been
a woodsman all my life. We hunted. Man, we used to kill
squirrels. Before squirrel hunting, we killed every bird there was.
We had BB guns. Before we had BB guns, we had,
you know, Anything we could kill something
with. We didn't have slingshots. We
had magnifying glasses. We were burning ants and worms.
Huh? We'd have got a Cape buffalo
under that thing. We'd have tried to burn him. But we'd kill birds, hummingbirds.
If a bald eagle would have come in the yard, we'd have shot him.
And we hunted and fished, and me and my brother, we ran trap
lines in the morning before we went to school. And I've been
in the woods all my life. And I've seen hunting and stuff,
but I've never seen it just dripping on the ground. You know what
that was? That was a divine work of God.
Amen. And look what happened here in
verse 27. And Jonathan heard not when his father charged the
people with the oath. Wherefore, he put forth the end
of the rod that was in his hand, and dipped it in the honeycomb.
and put his hand to his mouth, and look at this, and his eyes
are enlightened. You see that? Say, what did God
do? Here's the spiritual application. Here's old Jonathan. He spies
this garrison of the Philistines, and he takes it on himself. He
says, we're at war with these uncircumcised. And he tells his
arborer, he said, it may be the Lord will give these guys into
our hand, and we'll go over there and just slaughter them. We'll
kill them. It may be. And he does that,
and they do. They win. And they all flee,
the earthquake, all of what happens. And then here's Jonathan skylarking
around, and God just drops honey there in front of him. There's
honey in the rock, my brother. There's honey in the rock for
me. Amen. There's honey in the rock
for you. Amen. And you know what Jonathan got?
He got a taste. Amen. Let me ask you, when's
the last time you had a taste? It's hard to criticize that taste
if you've ever had it. Amen. You know what else? If you'll let me spiritualize
this, if you're not in the fight, Why would God give you a taste? Brother Nathan, I'm going on
taste I had. Amen. I got years ago. Amen. Well, you're just a little kid.
I'm still traveling on taste. I got way back younger. Son,
I'm traveling on the taste that we got at camp that year. God
gave us a taste. Amen. I've gotten taste right
here. We've seen God move. Amen. Hey, when's the last time
you had a taste? Dip that in there. Here's the
message. God always drops the taste at
the right time. He said, well, I'm tired. I'm
down and out. I don't feel good. The devil's beating me up. Stay
in the fight. Stay in church. Stay doing right. It may be the Lord will work
on your behalf. And I'll tell you what he'll
do, he'll give you a taste. Amen. Not everybody has had that
taste. Amen. But it's sure hard to refute
it when you've had it. Amen. It's better felt than told. Thank God for the taste! Saturday night, we were there
in Folkston at People's Baptist Church, the huge metroplex of
a church over there in Folkston. the mega church. Amen. We was
over there Saturday night and Saturday night everybody's kind
of grumbling. Even I grumbled a little. I said,
we're having service on Saturday night. It's been a lot better. We just rested on Saturday night.
Amen. And we had meat and anyhow and
got in there and boy, you all see what happens? You know what
God did? God gave us a taste. Amen. I don't know. How far can we
go on that? Brother Ed, we're still buzzing
on it. If you don't like a buzz, there ain't something wrong with
you. Yeah, I got a darn L over there. Amen, that's spiritual. I'm telling
you, the worldly stuff out yonder that we got buzzed on, that ain't
nothing the way you get this taste. Amen, there ain't nothing
like it. But if that case far exceeds
anything the world has, amen. We left. We left. I had the cases
with me Saturday night, you know, took them back to the motel.
And I had said to everybody after church, I said, y'all be careful
driving home now because the law will pull you over because
we're all drunk on the Holy Ghost. And they had a roadblock there
on 40. I'm not kidding you. Didn't any
of y'all go through that? They had cops on both sides of the
road. Everybody was stopping. And I pulled up there. I was
laughing. Brother Case was laughing. He said, let me see your license,
sir. I got my license out, and I'm laughing. He said, you still
live in Alabama? I said, yeah. I said, we just came from revival.
And I just told everybody to be careful, because the cops
are going to think we're drunk. And I said, that's the Holy Ghost.
And he said, yeah, have a good night, sir. Yeah. I said, what are you saying? I'm telling you, that taste is
far above anything the world has. Buddy, I'm telling you,
I ain't much of a soldier, but I've been around this fight,
and I'm going to show you that. Please give me a taste. Amen. Always comes at the right time.
Amen. I'll tell you what else. That
taste, it goes against the grain. You know what Saul wanted to
do? Because he got a taste. If you all are knowing anything
about this Bible, he's going to kill him. Because he disobeyed
his order. And the people wouldn't have
it. You're going to kill the deliverer? Amen? God saved Israel and you're going
to kill him? Goes against the grain. And I'm
going to tell you something right here. There's going to be people,
when you get a taste, they're not going to understand you.
Amen? Your friends, you ain't gonna
be able to hang around with the losers you hang around with. Amen? Chunk them. Get rid of them. Hang out with us squares. Amen? You say, well, who will
I hang around with? How about Brother Edward? How
about Darnell? Go by and get Darnell, take him
to lunch. Amen? Say, what do you want to do,
Brother Darnell? Hey, man, hang out with Miss Dot. Go over and
see her. Hey, man, don't hang around with
the losers you're hanging around with. Look where it's got you. Some of you, you're like sad
sack. You ain't going to smile. You
ain't going to laugh at nothing. My goodness. So what do you say
in that taste? goes against the grain. That's
why not everybody gets it. Amen? They think it's corny.
Then let me say this, this taste enlightens the eye. I can always
tell, Miss Faith, somebody that's had a taste. I can always tell
before I was saved, I can always tell somebody that was a partier
or another dopehead. Say, why, I knew the look. glassy-eyed, amen, say something,
you know, like, ha ha ha ha ha ha. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.
Goofball, it's a wonder here, this guy's brain cells left.
I got the vaccine, you know, I got the vaccine because I went
to Canada and people, you know, they'd give me a hard time. I
was in one service and they said, it's the mark of the beast. I
said, no, it ain't, doofus. Amen. Amen. It might be a precursor, but
it ain't the mark of the beast. Somebody said, why ain't you
afraid of putting them chemicals in your body? I said, man, if you knew all
the chemicals we put in our body before we were saved, I ain't
afraid of that. I ain't scared. Man, we huff
gasoline and PAM and right guard. Tolling, paint, paint thinner. Take this. You'll get high on
it. What is it? I don't know. I ain't giving up. This taste
enlightens the eye. I could tell. Man, you can tell
somebody's had a taste, and you can tell somebody that ain't.
They're sitting here right now, I guess. Man, you don't want to be here.
You are wanting to get out of here so bad. Amen. Now, I love this. Look at verse number 30. How
much more if, happily, the people that eaten freely today had to
spoil their enemies, which they found? For hadn't there been
now a much greater slaughter? Amen. What if everybody got a
taste? How about your family? Amen. I got four brothers. I'm telling
you, I don't know what it would be like to see them get a taste.
Amen. My oldest brother, he's the only
one that'll come hear me preach. He comes to Brother Drummond's
when I'm there. And he'll come sit on the front row. He'll be
75 years old. He's an old biker. We called
him Herc the Jerk when he was younger. Never do his face. We got to meet him one time and
say, why? Well, he was about 6 foot 3, weighed 265, and he
had 21-inch biceps with a 32-inch waist. And other than my dad,
he's the toughest man I've ever seen. And we was at a meeting
one time, and Dee Dee Hall walks up and says, are you Brother
Mark's oldest brother? And he says, yes, I am. She goes,
are you the one they called Herc the Jerk? And I'm off to the
side going, Dee Dee, Dee Dee. And he looks past Dee Dee like
this, and he looks over at me, and he goes, yeah, I guess I
am. But he's got them old biker tattoos
on him, you know, and all that. He's got two biker clubs tattooed
on his back. He was the president of one called
the Loners, and he wears an earring in his ear. I'd like to see you
preach against earrings when he's sitting on the front row. Amen. And he'll sit there, and
he's saved, but he ain't in church. And he's like, he's looking,
turning around like, hey, ask of you all to amen to my little
brother. Amen. Amen. I remember he got married
to his fifth wife. I asked him one time, I said,
man, what are the chances of you getting four bad women? He's
like, yeah, how about that? And I said, brother, do you know
what all four of these ladies had in common? He goes, what's
that? I said, you. I said, pray tell, could you
be the problem? I get the sermon there, little brother. Amen. And he brought his fifth wife
and I married them because I got a chance to witness to her. And
she came to Brother Drummond's and walked the aisle one night.
Amen. And I had knelt down after the
message and people come to the altar and I heard Brother Rick
say, you better get down here, Brother Mark. And I looked and
there was my big brother and his wife there at the altar.
And she was crying. And my brother was crying. And
I went over there and I looked and my brother looked at me and
he says, she's under conviction, Brutus. And I knelt down there and I
said, I said, Debbie, why are you coming? She goes, and I was
able to leave her Christ. Amen. What would it be like if
you've seen your family get a taste? I've got a brother next to me.
We grew up together. When I got saved, my brother
told everybody, he says, God stole my little brother away
from me. And we fought back to back. He's an alcoholic. He retired. He's the same age as Brother
Edward. He retired at 55. And since that
day, he's drank himself to sleep every day of his life. I can't
imagine. to see him stand up and say,
Praise the Lord! Hallelujah! Get a taste. And then I think about stuff
like that, and here's some of y'all that's been in church for
years, and you, I don't know if you've ever had a taste. Amen! That taste enlightens the eye. What if everybody got it? Man,
what would this church be like? Amen! I said, what do you do? Just get in the fight. Are you
one of us? Will you get in here with us?
We need you. Amen. He said, well, look at
y'all. Y'all are a bunch of squares. If you would have seen us before
we knew him. Amen. My wife sings that song.
If you had known me before I knew him. You'd understand why I love
him. Amen. And she looked over there
at me. She sings that. I know you've
heard her sing this one. She sings, oh, how's that thing
go? Man, I just lost it. But amen. Give him the glory. Amen. Amen. Give him the glory. Man, I've lost it. For what he's
done in your life. He took you from sin and strife
and gave a new life. We've been in meetings together,
and when she sings that part, she looks over at me. Amen. Because
she remembers them dark days. Amen. You say, what happened?
Buddy, we got saved. We got in this old-fashioned
way. We didn't want anything to do with God. We didn't want
anything to do with this. Church was boring. We didn't
want anything to do, but so what happened? God met with her. Hey,
he said, what'd he do? He gave us a taste. Now we're
shouting like you long timers did. We're carrying on like they
did. Amen. Them old camp meetings,
the first camp meeting I went to, me and Dee. I got on the
altar and prayed on Friday night, and I prayed in there. I stayed
in there all night. He said, you spiritual. No, you don't
understand. Rick was there, Brother Drummond, and he had the kids
from their school, and they were going to come in here and play
basketball. And Brother Rick says, I remember that, Brother Mark. He goes,
we went in there, and Brother Rick said, no, there's a guy
in there praying. I said, leave him alone. We won't play tonight.
And he said, what was you praying about, Brother Mark? I told the
Lord. I says, God, I don't have. what these people got." I said,
but I want it. Amen. Brother Jerry Mundy standing
at the piano, playing that piano. Amen. Garland Odom preaching.
Brother Jack Wood. Amen. John Mitchell and those
guys, man, ring the bells of heaven. Brother Don Green preached
us all to the altar. We crawled to the altar. I said,
what'd you do? He's begging God not to kill
us. He preached against everything we were doing. Amen. And preached it and loved us.
And put us on his prayer list and prayed for us till the week
or so when he died. Every day. That old man prayed
for four or five hours every morning. Amen. And if he ever met you and talked
to you, he had you on his prayer list. He said, well, I didn't
like Brother Green. My, my, my. No wonder. Let me ask you something. Are
you one of those, it may be, soldiers that just step out and
say, well, it may be? Well, maybe you won't. But I'm
going to tell you, that got a hold of God. He says, hmm, let me
see. I'll just do this. Shook the earth till it quaked.
And God brought a great victory that day. Amen. Then gave that very one that
said that, gave him a taste, and he dipped that down there
in the honey, took a bite. Amen. How long can you travel
on a taste? Pretty good ways. Amen. Heads bowed, eyes closed. Here
tonight,
