In 1 Corinthians 5:6-11, Paul makes it clear that church discipline is necessary to keep the church's fellowship pure from wordily influence; this must sometimes include excommunication and suspension from the Lord's Supper.

Some have been given the responsibility of protecting your purity and Christ's honor. Some who do not live with the Church nor for Christ must not eat with us. With Some You Are Not to Eat.
