The Woman at the Well
Series The Gospel of John
This is a broad overview of when Jesus met the Samaritan woman at the well.
The Jews despised the Samaritans as heretics, which they were, according to the Old Testament. The Jews also looked at the Samaritans as inferior people, which they were not. Pastor Linehan outlines the differences between Nicodemus, in chapter 3, and the Samaritan woman, and the differing ways in which our Lord dealt with both of them. In this passage we see how Jesus led an immoral, Samaritan woman into the truth, into true faith in Christ as the Messiah. Jesus declared to her that He has the living water to quench her spiritual thirst.
Our Lord has left us a great example on how to deal with people as they are, where they are, tactfully leading the conversation to spiritual, eternal matters. By God's grace, we shall also participate in the harvest of souls as our Lord's workers.
Pastor Linehan has also presented a detailed series of sermons on worship, concentrating on verses 19-24 of John 4. Please listen to this series called, "True Worship."
