Jesus Pleads Our Cause

A reference to "comfort" and "righteousness" appear five times in the fifty-first chapter. The comfort of God's people by His righteousness is of utmost importance to the believer. In verses 17-23, God's children are called to comfort by His intercession. From V17 to 21, Isaiah declares their tribulation and persecution. Jehovah asked: "by whom shall I comfort?" (V19). He answered: "The Lord...that pleads your cause" (V22).
