Mrs. Bennett-Jones was a very dear, personal, and ministry friend of my mom's. She and my mom would travel literally around the world together, speaking to women's groups. And Mrs. Jones, originally, she wrote the preface to No Greater Love. And my family and the lady who helped me the most with the writing, Joy Collins, we all decided that what Mrs. Jones wrote deserved to be on the back cover instead of on the inside as the preface. And I am so happy that we made the decision to move what Mrs. Jones wrote to the back cover because Mrs. Jones recently passed away from lymphoma and so this is probably one of the last things that she was able to write and I will forever treasure this. God has greatly used the book More Precious Than Gold. Its written testimony of the Vons family's victorious faith through tragedy has touched countless lives around the world. The literal fire and ongoing challenges through its effects proved to be only the first of difficult experiences that came blow upon blow. The Vons have been special personal and ministry friends and walking with them through their valleys has been a privilege, rebuke, challenge, and blessing. The strong, burdened heart bond my husband and I feel for those stalwart parents has extended to Becky, the daughter who as a toddler was tragically at the flashpoint of the fire and has mourned its physical effects ever since. Like her mother before and with her, Becky has been valiantly victorious. Their individual and joint testimonies powerfully illustrate that the earthly part of the chief end of man is attainable, to glorify God. That Holy Spirit-enabled attainment points clearly toward his next, and to enjoy him forever. No greater love is heart-to-heart personal. Becky's honest telling of the ongoing story is captivating and convicting. Good morning. Good morning. I just want to thank all of you for all of your, every part that you all have had in helping me to get my new van. And my new van will enable me to be able to travel and go to ladies meetings and speak and promote my book and to do better what God has called me to do. And I understand that I believe the Manns go to this class, to the Sunday school class, is that correct? No, they don't? Well, anyway, Gordon and Nancy Mann were very instrumental in getting the fundraising project started for my van. And in fact, my van, my first van that I had was so big, it was a full-size van. And it was so big and cumbersome and hard to drive that I called it the Beast. So my van was my mechanical beast and my dog, my service dog at the time, was my furry beast. And then my second van was called Beauty. So Beauty and the Beast. And then my third van that I have now is called Gordon Van. I would like to read for you a paragraph or two, if I may, from my book, from the preface of my book. And this is on the Kindle version of my book, so even though this is an iPad, this is from my book. Her name was Brenda Joyce. My grandmother was unsaved when my mom was born. She named her daughter after her favorite actress from a popular television show. After the house fire that left mom and me with lifelong injuries, she learned the real meaning of her name. Brenda comes from the word brand, as in fire brand. Later, when mom spoke to women's groups, she would tell them what her first name meant to her. Something made useful when heated with fire. Joyce comes from the word joy. I heard her say countless times that her name meant joy comes after the fire. She was filled with zeal for life, for her lifelong love, Dad, and for her family, her friends, and the Lord. Mom wanted to write a book about her life and call it Happily Ever After. She wanted to tell the story of how, as a young girl, her vision for the future was a fairytale love story with a happily ever after ending, but instead how the Lord showed her the true meaning and value of eternal joy. My favorite fairy tale has always been Cinderella. I like it because Cinderella suffered, yet she kept her sweetness and graciousness. In the end, her dreams came true. Like Cinderella, mom faced great trials. But also, like the character of Cinderella, mom is now truly living happily ever after. And the Lord impressed upon my heart after my mom died that my story should be about her, about hers and my story. I've had this burden to write this about her for the last five years, ever since she died. For many, many years after we wrote More Precious Than Gold, after my parents, I had wanted to write my own book, but I didn't really have direction or idea really of what it should be about but the Lord impressed upon my heart after my mom died that this is mine and my mom's story and I need to share the no greater love that not only my mom displayed for me in rescuing me from the fire and then ultimately giving her life because of all the health needs that she developed, but the no greater love is Christ's love for all of us and that he laid down his life to save us when he died for us on the cross. Thank you. so so
