Let's pray together. Father, thank you for your presence and we pray for the fullness of your presence right now, God, in our hearts, in this place, in our homes. Jesus, thank you that you died for our sins and you're risen from the grave. And we celebrate the good news today. We also know that this good news, Jesus, you demand. Our life, our soul, our all. And it's for your glory we live and it's by your grace we're alive today. Fill us with purpose and vision and move in fresh ways, we pray in Jesus' name, amen. The word of God is powerful and we are cultivating the habit daily In God's Word, we've been walking through Psalm 23 together. Scripture points us to the Savior, to walk closely with Jesus. And we want to think about God's Word, meditate on God's Word, be doers of God's Word, and receive more of God's Word. As we walk in through Psalm 23, the first two words are the Lord. And we're gonna say the Psalm together, we're gonna say it out loud, but don't skip past the first two words. If you miss that, you miss the Psalm, you miss the Good Shepherd. He is the Lord, and that's a personal decision to say, today, you are my Lord, Jesus, I'll follow you. Now let's say Psalm 23 out loud together. The Lord is my shepherd. I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside quiet waters. He refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil, my cup overflows. Oh, hey, let's keep going though. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Hey, that worked out kind of like a little test, but look at, you know, you guys are right on it. So in this series, we've been saying Psalm 23 together. Daily, it's a psalm you can go to as you seek the good shepherd, and there's comfort, there's healing, there's reassurance, there's also calling in Psalm 23. Each Sunday we've been looking at a different phrase from the Psalm, and today, you anoint my head with oil, my cup overflows. That points us to receiving, anointing, overflowing. The only way that happens is if we receive from the Good Shepherd. The more we receive, the more impact we're gonna have. And this is true of David's life. He learned how to receive, anointing, overflowing, and then it led to powerful impact for the kingdom of God. Three truths that we wanna highlight today from this scripture. First, God anoints and appoints you with great purpose. You are anointed and appointed with great purpose. To anoint literally means to set apart. It means that you are chosen. It includes God's blessings and his favor. The Hebrew word mashach means to pour oil. And oil, it's also a metaphor, it's literal and metaphorical for the Holy Spirit. This pouring of the oil, you think of the presence of God, the presence of the Holy Spirit. God is pleased and God fills us with purpose. There's a lot of examples in the scripture of a pouring of oil and anointing in a wide range of settings as well. I want to hit those quickly and think through the entirety of Scripture together. First, there's the context of hospitality. In that ancient culture, it would be a sign of honor to anoint someone. Luke chapter seven, verse 45, Jesus said, you did not give me a kiss, but this woman from the time I entered has not stopped kissing my feet. You did not put oil on my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet. These are not traditions for us, but upon arriving at a house, there would be a kiss, a kiss of honor, recognizing, and then there would be an anointing, a pouring of oil. You probably haven't poured oil on anyone in your house ever. But that was a standard then and Jesus was pointing out that you give me no honor and yet this woman right here has not stopped kissing my feet, anointing with expensive perfume. There are some who honor Jesus and some who don't and it was evident in the anointing and in the response with hospitality. We also know in the Old Testament, there was anointing for a new office, like a new king. That's what happened to David. In 1 Samuel 16, verse one, we read, the Lord said to Samuel, who is the prophet, how long will you mourn for Saul? That was the first king. This is about a thousand years before Christ. God says, since I have rejected him as king over Israel. Fill your horn with oil and be on your way. I'm sending you to Jesse of Bethlehem. I have chosen one of his sons to be king. And then in this next verse, we see now the spirit of the Lord had departed from Saul and an evil spirit from the Lord tormented him. And then as this shift is happening in the land with leadership, there's an anointing on David and Samuel will anoint David as the next king. Kings were anointed, prophets were anointed, priests were anointed. Kings, prophets, and priests, all anointed with oil, recognizing God's selection, chosen, his favor, his purpose. In those three offices, it's important to note that Jesus is prophet, priest, and king. and ultimately God was looking for a King David who would be a man after God's own heart and Jesus would be in David's lineage and one of his descendants as the Messiah. Now what about the New Testament? When someone is sick and needs healing, call the elders. We're gonna do that today at the end of this message. And this comes from James chapter five. Let's take a look at verse 14. Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well. The Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Why do we do this? Because the Bible says it. Have the elders anoint with oil, the oil representing God's power, the Holy Spirit, and we seek God together. We're relying on him, we're not relying on elders, we're not relying on how smooth our prayers are, we're not relying on oil itself, but the Lord has chosen this anointing. Jesus declares in Luke chapter four, and this is going back, quoting the Old Testament, Isaiah, it's a messianic prophecy. Now Jesus has fulfilled this prophecy and he says, the spirit of the Lord is on me because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor. And I think there's... Then he rolled up the scroll and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him. This is a bold declaration. If you've been waiting for the Messiah for hundreds of years and you know that scripture and now you hear it and Jesus fulfills it, the name Christ means anointed one. It's not Jesus' last name. Jesus the Christ, Jesus the Messiah, Jesus the Savior of the world, Jesus the anointed one. And with that anointing, there's also an anointing of Jesus with his burial, and then after his burial, his resurrection. Anointing is very significant with the life of Christ. What about us? This anointing we read in scripture, in 2 Corinthians chapter one, verses 20 to 22, for no matter how many promises God has made, they are yes in Christ. When you read this scripture, this should just bring you alive spiritually. When you read the word of God, you are built up spiritually. God's promises are all yes in Christ. So through him, the amen, if you ever wondered if it's biblical to say amen, there's your text right there. And so through him, the amen is spoken by us to the glory of God. Amen, let it be, we agree, yes Lord. Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his spirit in our hearts as a deposit guaranteeing what is yet to come. As Paul writes to the Corinthians, this is not the church. that is always shining a bright light. This is a church that is often still struggling in sin, but what does Paul tell them? You are anointed, the Holy Spirit, a seal, this relationship with God, his presence in you. You're anointed with God's Spirit. First John chapter two, and we read, but you have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth. In verse 27. The anointing you receive from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. That doesn't mean that we shouldn't be here teaching the word of God in church. That does mean that we have the word of God, we have the spirit, and we are relying on God's word and spirit, but as his anointing teaches you about all things, and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit, just as it is taught you, remain in him. There is a counterfeit anointing and there's a real anointing. And God anoints us with his presence, his power, his purpose. And this anointing that God gives, it's not for boasting, instead for serving. Sometimes when you hear the word anointing in some circles, it's almost like this boasting of how anointed are you. No, that's not the heart of anointing. It's serving and sacrificing. Serving and sacrificing. Psalm 89 verse 20, I have found David my servant with my sacred oil, I have anointed him. Anointed to serve, full of the Spirit to serve. Now, I think back 10 years ago, about 10 years ago, God led my family to come here to Grace, to Seattle, and I think back, as you approach a bigger number, you tend to think back and reflect, and as I've been doing that, one thing, big picture, is that overall in the sound, Talking to other pastors, and even in Auburn, there's maybe 5% of the people on a Sunday morning in church, about 5%. Now, if you would have asked me 10 years ago, today, what do I think they'll be? I'm someone who tends to believe and faith and my vision, I probably said, we're pushing 10, 15% in Auburn. Now, our church, by the grace of God, has grown significantly over those 10 years, but we're not all about our church. We're all about God's city, and we're all about the sound, and what does that say that 10 years later, things are looking very similar in some ways than they did 10 years ago? Well, if you're seeing the same thing and you desire more, it's kind of a clue in life a lot of times that we need to do something different. If you do the same things, you usually tend to get the same results. So if we want to see something different, we probably need to do something different. And I would say that different is ancient. Different is ancient. Come back to the ancient of days, return to God, his word, his spirit. I think there's more than what we see right now. I think God wants to do more in the sound. It is Black History Month and Langston Hughes is eloquent. He says, hold fast to dreams for if dreams die, life is a broken winged bird that cannot fly. We don't want random dreams. We want the dreams God gives us. Like when Nehemiah, Ezra, when Zerubbabel see the ruins in the city, God gave them dreams as they were prayer and fasting and worshiping. God gave them dreams of how the city will be built up, how the people will be built up, the community of faith will be built up. And then they acted and they did that. keep it in step with the Spirit. There was an anointing on their life. And when you think about God working in the sound, it's people more than programs. In a lot of churches, we just start this program, if we do this program, if we do this program a little better, programs are a blessing. But this is about people. When I say different, ancient. What is this ancient plan in this playbook that we have that's so relevant for today and always? It's this, it's the fullness of the anointing, it's the fullness of God's presence. It's all of God's people, all of God's people, in all places, live, work, learn, or play, anointed, full of his presence, It's an all, it's an all instead of a partial or a little. Habakkuk chapter two verse 14. Here's a dream from God. For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea. Now let's say it, for the sound will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea. So what is glory? I like what Jeff Vanderstelt says. He says, glory is true reality. That's what that word glory means, true reality. The true reality of who God is. Sometimes you hear phrases like, we've gotta make God look good. We're not gonna make God look any better than he looks right now. It is not our role to make God look impressive, he is impressive. And what does that mean for us? It means the invisible God becomes visible through our lips and what we say and through our lives and the choices we make during the week. God's glory, we are designed to glorify God. It's the ultimate call on our lives. And God receives glory. when God's people are abiding with Jesus and 24-7 living for God and his glory and that reality becomes greater than the reality that people are often holding onto, which is idolatry or settling for less. It means that we need to dive deep with God. It's gonna start with the people of God becoming alive and receiving. We need his word and his spirit and we need each other and we need to walk in that together. That's how you change a city. There won't be a better plan than all of God's people filled with all of God's spirit, then in all places, we're glorifying God with all of our hearts and lives. That's what's gonna change the sound, that's God's plan. We are anointed that Jesus may be glorified and known. We receive from God, we receive. I think the receiving has been broken for a while. I think the receiving, the anointing, this overflowing that we read about in Psalm 23, you anoint my head with oil, my cup overflows. What we're reading about, anointing, overflowing, anointing, overflowing, anointing, overflowing. That's Psalm 23, that's what David says. David is a guy who messed up big time. And some of us are still stuck in how we messed up big time. Our failure doesn't define us. It's not our identity. David, overflowing, anointing. What is this? We read Psalm 23, but what is this? The overflow is daily, not occasionally. The overflow that we read about in Psalm 23, this is a daily overflow, not an occasional overflow. Now, when I became a Christian, and I didn't grow up going to church, reading the Bible, but when I became a Christian, I started to learn new things. And some of them, like I learned about the rapture, you know, 1 Thessalonians 4, I was like, What is this? And it was just all these curious things and things I'd never heard about. Seven years of tribulations, there was end time stuff. And then there's different people I'd never heard of, pastors and teachers and Chuck Swindoll and Chuck Smith and who are all these Chucks? And Charles Stanley, is he Chuck too? You know, just all these new things. But one thing I heard is CME Christians. And I thought, well, what's a CME Christian? It sounds like a denomination. But it's not, it's kind of an unofficial denomination. CME Christian are Christians who come to church on Christmas, Mother's Day, and Easter. That's an unofficial denomination right there. Don't look down upon anyone, but if you were talking to a CME Christian, you'd kind of think, there's more, there's more. And then Barna tells us now, all these years later, how often do people come to church? A little more than once a month. And again, There's more, there's more. And then some people are very pious on Sunday mornings, but what about the rest of the week at home? And for a lot of people, there's not much going on there spiritually. And what would you wanna say? There's so much more. for your life, for your marriage, for your kids, for your house, for your family. There's so much more. There's so much more that God has and it's the overflow. It's daily, not occasionally. You don't have to wait until Easter. before you get filled with the Spirit. You don't have to wait until Sundays to get close to God. You don't have to wait one time or two times a week to get in his word. No, this overflow, this filling, it's available every day. That's why we chose the word abide many years ago here. John 15 five, if you abide with Jesus, you will bear much fruit. If you really walk with Jesus, there is gonna be overflowing love, joy, patience, peace in your life. How do you know that you're walking with Jesus? Because there's an overflow of fruit daily. Fruit is not small, minimal. Now, my cup overflows. Now, in the Bible, there's different kinds of cups. There's a cup of suffering, Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane. Father, if there's any other way, take this cup from me. He's talking about a cup of suffering, which Jesus would drink and say yes to. He would die on the cross and become sin, and we would receive his righteousness. So he said yes to the difficult cup of suffering. There's also cups of blessing, which we read about here, and this cup overflowing, it's the blessings are overflowing. John chapter 10, verse 10, Jesus says this, when you think about overflowing, the thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy. What does that tell us? There's a spiritual battle. There's an enemy of God, there's an enemy of our souls. The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy. Jesus says, I have come that they may have life and have it to the full. That's not only eternal life, that's abundant, overflowing life. He came to give us. 2 Corinthians chapter nine, verse eight. Going back to the Corinthians. and encouraging them and encouraging us. And God is able to bless you abundantly so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. Abide and abound. God blesses us so we can be a blessing. And look at abundantly once again. Generosity overflowing. Ephesians chapter three, Paul, this is a prayer. Now the people in Ephesus were walking with God a little more solid than the Corinthians. But this prayer, again, we celebrate this now to him who is able to do immeasurably more. That doesn't say, Oh, just barely enough, that doesn't say a little bit more, immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine. Can you imagine how blown away we're gonna be when we show up in heaven? It's gonna be immeasurably more, but that immeasurably more isn't just for heaven, it's also according to his power that is at work within us, to him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever, amen. Now it's for His glory. The anointing, the overflow is for His glory. There are two traps that I see when you talk about overflow. Some people drift into this false gospel of prosperity, and they say the overflow is money, and the overflow, if you follow Jesus, you're gonna be rich, and there's lots of just diabolical, it's straight from the pit, prosperity gospel stuff, and ultimately the message is, it's all about you, it's all about you, it's all about you. And there's not a lot of mention of God's glory, it's just all about you. And that kind of overflow is extremely popular around the world. That kind of overflow is growing so significantly. I don't know if you pray against it, but that would be something you could start to pray against from the Psalms, that the deception of the prosperity financially, that Jesus is a moneymaker and turn to him and look at your bank account rise, that is straight junk. That is, churches are growing around this prosperity gospel. And in many nations, that's the church that's growing. It's not from God, it's not Psalm 23. Well, what's the other trap with prosperity and abundance and God's provision and his anointing and the overflow? The other trap is deny it. Just settle for, you know, the cup is always half empty. And just deny the blessings and the promises of God's word. People who do that kind of get stuck, they finger point a lot, and they usually carry some resentment. And they kind of act like, yeah, this is all there is. Nothing more than this. And sometimes it's this hyper fear based on what they've seen in a false prosperity gospel that they're gonna turn and run the other way and just, and it's kind of a false humility. Like, yeah, God's spirit, God's word, everything good for us. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. We're gonna settle kind of defeated over here. Anyone else wanna join the humble defeated club? It's not real humility, but we'll just join in over there. I don't see that in scripture. I don't see it. And for those people, I just, Pray we can open our eyes again and receive again and look at what the text says and look at why Jesus came and look who the Holy Spirit is and come back to the word and receive and receive. If the receiver's broken, we're gonna run around acting like this all there is. But don't you know so often with God that he has more. Sojourner Truth says truth is powerful and it prevails. Jesus is the truth, Jesus prevails, the truth sets us free, his word is truth, and his truth will renew us again. His truth will renew us. In my house, there's four kids, and when there's good food, there's a last piece. So who's quickest to get the last piece of pizza? And should you ask someone else if they want it? The last wings, right? Who's gonna get the last wings? Who's gonna get the last chocolate chip cookie? They were fresh chocolate chip cookies this weekend. They go quickly. All right, the last ice cream, mint chocolate chip, who's gonna get the last? And there's a little bit of a reality and a scarcity of like, I better hurry up and get me that last one. When you come to God, you will never have the last ice cream. Scripture. No, this scripture's eternal. You will never have the last morsel of peace that God's handing out that week. That was not the last piece. You will not receive the last bit of hope because God is rationing out hope, and in 2025, there's a hope shortage. That's not heaven's report. In fact, what well are we going to? What well are we drinking from? Living water. Jesus doesn't run out of living water. There is overflow for everyone here and down the block and across the sound. This is not scarcity time in the kingdom of heaven. It is time to receive. My Bible says anointing and overflowing. And if you feel like that's not the reality in your story these days, we've got to empty the sin to make room for the Lord. We gotta empty the doubts and the complaining and the lack of belief, the selfishness. We gotta empty the impurity, empty the bitterness. We won't be filled. If we got a bunch of sin junk in there, our bodies, our temples of the Holy Spirit, our minds, our hearts, our bodies, we offer ourselves to worship into the Lord. And the Bible says, how much more? Luke 11, 13, how much more will he give the Holy Spirit to those who ask? How much more is God going to bless us when we're filled up with His Word? How much more does God have for us? So let's receive afresh from the Lord. You know, tax season's coming up. Not to switch and buzzkill and downer or anything, but... Tax season's coming up, and when we report our taxes, there's always the question of how many dependents do we have? And we have four dependents. Now, as parents, we pray and dream of that day where our kids are flourishing outside of our house. And there'll be a day, it'll be a sad day in one sense, because it is sweet having them around, but it'll also be a day where they spread their wings, and we're gonna write down no dependents. and that'll be strange, but they'll be working, they'll be packing their own refrigerator, they'll be paying for their own car insurance, I mean, that's what happens. Well, I think falsely, sometimes our view of spiritual maturity is the day we're no longer dependent on God. And we think, you know what, I've had enough life experience, I've done enough ministry, I've studied the Bible long enough that God, I am weaning off my dependence on you. And how do you know if you're weaning off your dependence on God? Because prayer will be missing. Prayer missing is the sense that pride is increasing, and because we built up our own resumes and everything else, we're drifting and we're saying, God, don't claim me as a dependent anymore. I'm going independent. I'm gonna be able to handle it by myself. I'm gonna be happy when my kids stand up on their own feet, but that is so different than our relationship with God. Spiritual maturity is not less dependent on God, it's realizing more and more and more how much we need the Holy Spirit, we need the Word of God, we need each other. And we don't graduate from this calling of dependence. But when dependence stops, the anointing and the overflowing also decrease. Don't know how to make it any more plain than that. The anointing and the overflow, daily anointing, daily overflowing, daily we're grateful. And what is gonna be the result of that? There's gonna be a greater impact. And we see this in David's life. Learn how to receive and give the hope of Jesus. Christianity is not stagnant. This is a movement that's unstoppable, that's personal and eternal. Don't settle for stagnant and stuck. That's not the message from heaven. Christianity is not shallow, it is deep with God. Deep cries out to deep. It is not hidden and retreating and fearful, just like Jesus. It is public and courageous and unselfish. This is the kingdom of God. It's a movement that's unstoppable. There's depth with the Lord, abiding with Jesus, public, courageous. Now, Peter was going the right direction, and then he stumbled. And he denied Jesus three times before the cross. But the story's not over because our sin doesn't define us. And what was the message sent from heaven and the angel? After the resurrection of Jesus, tell the disciples and tell Peter. Tell Peter. The movement's still on. Jesus is still risen. Tell Peter. How many Peters do we have in this room? today that God is coming alongside of you. and saying, receive my hope afresh. You're gonna bring my hope to many people. And then Jesus restored Peter and what did he say to him three times? Do you love me? Feed my sheep. Do you love me? Feed my sheep. Do you love me? Feed my sheep. Peter, there's an anointing. Peter, there's gonna be an overflowing. But Peter, what are you gonna do with the anointing and the overflowing? Feed my sheep. Feed my sheep. Feed my sheep. Make disciples. Help people come to know Jesus. Who are you leading to Jesus? Help people grow in their walk with God. Who are you helping grow? Who are you mentoring? Feed my sheep, Peter. And Peter's starting to get it again, receiving and giving the hope of Jesus. Now, there's a website with some resources. We've created this last year. You've probably already been there. It's justchoosehope.org. We're adding some training, and here's some specific areas of training, because these are the questions I hear often. How do I pray? When it comes to being impactful for God's kingdom, how do I pray? What do I pray during the week? Impact prayers. Here's another one. How do I start spiritual conversations? How do I have spiritual conversations during the week? We've created that video. Here's another one. How do I think about my story and tell my story to other people of how Jesus changed my life? How do I do that? That's another one. So resources there. There are so many places in our church right now we have resources. This is just one more. Let's think about impact and let's think about this acronym HOPE. Now, hope impact, here's four elements. How does God work? Whether it's David's life, whether it's Paul's life, whether it's our lives, look at these four areas. Heart, opportunities, prayer, and evangelism. Let's think about David for a second. Remember, David, who committed adultery, David, murder, all this is part of David's story, but David became a man after God's own heart. God will change your heart before you take action. This is what'll happen in your heart. You'll start to love people more. You'll start to love people like God loves people. Your heart will break for what breaks God's heart. God will work in a heart. There'll be an anointing, a calling. Your heart is gonna be changed by God. That's a deep work, a transformation of the heart. Not a heart of stone, a heart of flesh. And God begins with the heart. When the heart's way off, the words are going to be way off. Words flow from the heart. God purifies the heart, refines the heart, starts with the heart. Well, what's next? There's opportunities. For David, he was a shepherd boy. Now there's an opportunity to write Psalm 23 from a shepherd's perspective. David was overlooked. His brothers appeared to be more impressive. Samuel was someone who walked with God and listened to God, but he totally missed it. David would be the next king. David was bringing snacks to his brothers and to the army that was scared. They were trapped in fear. And then God told David, here's an opportunity to win the battle over the Philistines. David became king. There were 12 tribes, a lot of history there, real potential for division. And what happened? David united them together. David united them together. Opportunities. You know, with the Super Bowl, on my phone this week, I saw Patrick Mahomes talking about how he was new in his walk with Jesus. And what did he say? Jesus is my Lord and Savior. He said, Jesus is the one I look to, and Jesus is my everything. It's an opportunity for Patrick Mahomes. Well, what about the Eagles? A.J. Brown, he's a wide receiver. And I'm listening to the stories of how he's discipling the guys on the team. And they're talking about faith all the time. And A.J. Brown says, yes, I read the Bible a lot because that's how I overcome my problems. and he's helping the other guys read the Bible. You see, they know they've got an opportunity. They're gonna make the most of the opportunities. When your heart's in the right spot, this is what God does. He opens doors that no one can close. And then what do you do? You pray. David wasn't that prayerful to start with, but if you looked at the Psalms, his prayers, the raw, the real, he's running for his life. The first King Saul's trying to kill him, and David is bringing forth, pouring out his heart in prayer. Prayers, guide me, Lord. These are David's prayers. Your face will I seek. That's a prayer. God, I'm gonna seek you. I'm gonna listen to you. I need your guidance, good shepherd. And then evangelism. Say, what does that look like in the Old Testament? Look at Psalm 96, verses one through three. This is what David writes. Sing to the Lord a new song. That's what we do Sunday morning. Sing to the Lord all the earth, all over the earth this morning. We're praising God. Sing to the Lord, praise his name. Proclaim his salvation day after day. Declare his glory among the nations. That's the reality of who he is. His marvelous deeds among all peoples. This is the next generation, the nations. This is the declaration of good news. The gospel means good news and the gospel is that Jesus died for our sins and he's risen. In the body of Christ, evangelism has a bad rap. and it's suddenly talked about like it's not that great, it's not politically correct, only a couple people do it. This is the good news. Colossians chapter four, verses two through six, and we need to reclaim evangelism again. Soul winning again, what Jesus did again. Colossians chapter four, when you think about that acronym HOPE, devote yourselves to prayer. being watchful and thankful. And pray for us too that God may open a door. Here we've got our hearts, our opportunities, our prayers. God may open a door for our message. That's the gospel. So that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ for which I'm in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly as I should. Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders. Make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt so you may know how to answer everyone. What are we talking about today? We're talking about receiving, the anointing, the anointing of the Holy Spirit, and then also the overflow, overflowing. When there's anointing and there's overflowing, there's gonna be impact. God's gonna lead our hearts, he's gonna lead opportunities, he's gonna answer prayer, and he's gonna change lives. That's what evangelism is. That's our calling from Psalm 23. Now, I wanna invite the elders to come forward right now. We're gonna have a time of prayer. They're literally anointing. We've been studying anointing straight from Scripture. They have oil. This is how you respond. Anyone who needs restoration, it might be your physical body. It might be a relationship. It might be a relationship in your life that needs restoring. It might be your purpose and calling that needs restoring. You might put your trust in Jesus today for the first time and be restored and at peace with God for eternity. There's a lot of ways God brings restoration, but our response is to say yes to Jesus. And by coming forward for prayer, that's just another expression of saying yes to Jesus and receiving from the Lord. Receive first, receive his hope, receive his presence, receive his healing. This is a time of healing. I wanna pray for this time, and then we're gonna worship. We're gonna draw near to the good shepherd. God, thank you for this moment, where from your word, Psalm 23, Jesus, we're drawn to you. Our eyes are on you, Jesus. Thank you for the anointing. Thank you for the overflowing, that this is not a kingdom of scarcity. but abundance. Jesus, you came that we would have abundant life. Have it to the full. We thank you for the biblical meaning of abundance. God, we don't walk in lies, we walk in truth. Father, I pray by your power right now that you would bring restoration, renew minds today. God, restore relationships today. God, physical bodies, we pray for anyone who's ready to put their trust in Christ, that they would say yes to you right now. Guide this time of worship. God, we're here to receive. We're here to live for your glory. We pray in Jesus' name, amen.
