You decide to confess a sin, to show repentance, to show that you need Him. You don't need the earthly, you need Him. It's not spiritual. It's where you bow your heart in front of God. That's what it is. And fasting isn't bad. But fasting isn't good in the sense that it makes you a super spiritual person. That's not what fasting is. They lasted from one day to eight days. It lasted a whole week. And they weren't going to be fasting those days. There were laws against that. Why? Because they were boyfriends. And Jesus in the bottles says, you don't know that the boyfriend is here. How are my disciples going to be fasting, knowing that it's time to celebrate? The boyfriend has come. He has come to look for his girlfriend. If you don't understand this language of boyfriend, well Jesus is the boyfriend of your church. He comes to buy your church. He comes to receive your church.
