Behold, the Baby!
Series Behold Your God
Outline: The Savior of the world, heralded by angels, came as a helpless, dependent, vulnerable child. Why do you think God chose this means of bringing us our Savior?
- A Christmas Scolding!
- A Covenantal Christmas
- Teach, Treasure & Tell
Christ-Child Conclusion: How would you describe to someone, this Christmas week, that a child was always at the heart of the biblical, covenantal promises of God?
Devotional material for your Lord's Day evening (and upcoming week):
1 What images come to mind when you think of the child Jesus?
2 Have you thought a lot about why Jesus had to come, as one hymn says, as a "helpless babe"?
3 Why do you think God allowed his Son to be born in such humble circumstances and to be placed in a manger?
4 Why do you think Luke mentions that Jesus was born in Bethlehem and that He was Mary's son?
5.By way of final application question for you this Season: Jesus said to His disciples, "Unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is greatest in the kingdom of heaven" (Matthew 18:3 – 4). What does this exhortation to become like a little child mean? Why did Jesus emphasize this? What does it mean for your own life and walk of faith?
