Before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. Then Joseph, her husband, being a just man and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away frivolously. But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife. for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shall call his name Jesus, for he shall save his people from their sins. Now all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet saying, behold, a virgin shall be with child and shall bring forth a son. and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is God with us. Then Joseph being raised from his sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidded him and took unto him his wife and knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son and he called his name Jesus. 293. John says he does, but you always eat before 12. You're going to be hungry, brother. That's all. Sorry. Hebrews chapter 10. This is a wonderful time to really talk about the purpose of the coming of our Lord. We've been doing a series on the Lamb of God. Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sins of the world. I can't think of any better passage than this one to truly, I don't know how many could see the screen, but anyway, we'll do our best. Some of you have been following along in our series. And we do know that many verses have come up. The truth is, before the world was ever formed or created, God had a plan. Isn't that amazing? And God had, since the creation of the world, been working towards that plan. Even in the early days of creation, we do know that God was working in Adam and Eve even when they sinned in the garden God had a plan for them the fact is nothing catches God by surprise even the sin of man he knew the foreknowledge of God he knew what man would do even though he didn't want he gave them their choice he gave them a free will he knew the choice that they would do. But God loved them. Now this plan centers around the Lamb of God. And the Lamb was promised. We did see that. We're not going to go through those messages or passages, but in Genesis 3.15, we do call that the Proto-Evangelium. That is the first gospel. Genesis 3.15. Then we saw that the Lamb was prepared through the miracle, we've been singing about this, of the conception, the miraculous conception of the Holy Spirit in the Virgin Mary. And we call that the virgin birth of our Savior. And then we saw how God provided, and we sung about that this morning. It was very clear. He was born in Bethlehem. We did see a couple other messages about praising the Lamb of God. But now we're going to talk about the Lamb being presented. What happened? But before we get there, let's read our text. I wish I had time to go over the whole, I wish you could read verses one all the way down through our text. I just want you to read verse five and we'll skip down to our text. Wherefore, when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldst not, but a body thou hast prepared me." Isn't that amazing? Right there is the virgin birth. The miraculous conception of Jesus by the Holy Spirit. God prepared a body for Jesus. But why did Jesus have a body? Jump down to verse by the which we were all sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right hand of God from henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool, for by one offering he hath perfected forever them that are sanctified." Let's have a word of prayer before we get in to this message. Father, we want to thank you today that we can celebrate the miraculous birth of our Savior. Thank you for sending the Lord Jesus Christ into this world. Thank you for the sacrifice, the offering that He made on the cross, what we are reading about in our text. And we want to thank you, Lord, for the purpose of your life, the purpose of your birth and life. Lord, help us to focus in now on the reason you came to this earth, the reality of that presentation, the presenting of your body on the cross, the presenting of your blood in heaven, that blood sacrifice to pay for our sins. Father, open up our hearts. Help us, those that truly need to open up their hearts to receive you in this Christmas season as their Lord and Savior. Help them to do it even today. We ask it in Jesus' name. Amen. Let's look at the offering of the body of Jesus. We saw that phrase in verse number 10. This is why Jesus came into the world. This is why Jesus took on a body. Isn't that amazing? The Bible is very clear. He took on that body so that his body could be offered. on the cross. And we want to talk about that offering. Now there's some things that we don't like to talk about, the offering of the body of Jesus, because it was a brutal and a horrible death. It's beyond description. But let us not go beyond the scriptures. Let me just run down a few events that you are well aware of. He was betrayed. Remember, Judas betrayed him with a kiss. He was deserted by his disciples, remember, in that same passage. He was beaten then by the temple guards. You remember those that He came to save, He came to His own, but remember they rejected Him. And they were crying out, crucify Him, crucify Him. Also, He was scourged. Now the Bible tells us about this scourging. There's a verse over in Psalms 129, it's a a prophetic Psalm, it says, the plowers plowed upon my back. They made long their furrows. You know, the truth be told, he was beaten so bad. In fact, Isaiah 50 says that he was marred beyond belief. They didn't even, you couldn't recognize his visage, his body as a human being. He was mocked. He was crowned with a crown of thorns. His beard was plucked from his face back in Isaiah 50 again. He was stripped naked. And then he was crucified. He was nailed to the cross. He was hung up to die. It was the most cruel death. And as I mentioned before, the Bible says he was marred beyond belief. And this is part of the story. Obviously, you could take this and meditate upon all of these texts, read it. We do often do that, by the way. during the Easter celebration, we often take time to read about the sufferings of our Lord in detail. In fact, these are the passages we will be meditating upon. But the truth be told, He came into this world. This is what Hebrews 10 is all about. Why did He come? To take on a body. Why did He come? Because the animal sacrifices We're not sufficient. That's what it says. So we see the reason. Verse 12. Well, let's not skip over verse 11, because kind of the context, and I do bring it up. And every priest stand daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices. which can never take away sin. You see that? It was a covering, but they could never take him away. But this man, Jesus, after he had offered one sacrifice for sin, forever, amen, he sat down on the right hand of God so this is the reason Jesus came this is the reason Jesus was born this is the reason God sent his son to be born of a virgin the Virgin Mary to be one sacrifice for sins and the Bible says here forever one sacrifice for sins forever now we know what the Bible says about sin the wages of sin is death I think there were several funerals this past week we hear about funerals you touch our even our church membership their family members their friend Because the wages of sin is death. You will not live forever. Because we are all sinners. Ezekiel 18.4 says, The soul that sinneth, it shall die. We will die. That's a certain thing. Now when Jesus died, there's a difference. Go to 1 Peter. It's close by here, 1 Peter chapter 2. Jesus died not because He sinned. Amen? He didn't die for His own sin. Jesus was without sin, the Bible tells us. That's why the sacrifice that He gave for us was a perfect sacrifice. The Bible tells us in 1 Peter 2, verse 22, "...who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth." And it goes into his suffering. Remember, he was reviled. He reviled not again. When he suffered, he threatened not. Verse 24, in his own self, bear our sins in his own body on the tree. There it is. He bore our sins in his body on the cross. 1 Peter 3.18, just a chapter over. For Christ also once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened in the spirit." He didn't stay in the tomb. He rose again. There's an empty tomb in Jerusalem. Amen. So when Jesus died on the cross when he endured all the suffering we read about the horrible brutal painful death he was not dying for himself. He was dying for us. He was dying for all the sinners of the whole world. For God so loved the world. In fact, the very word offering is the idea of a present, a gift. An offering was given. A gift was given. And this is love. This is the greatest gift that we could receive right now at this time of the year. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son. And the Bible's telling us that whosoever believeth in Him should not, what? Perish, but have everlasting life. And you know when that love came to us? Not because we cleaned ourselves up, we were good people, we deserve it. No. His love is grace. His love is full of mercy and grace because he came to us when we were sinners. While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. God commendeth his love toward us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. That is love. The love of God. So we see that Jesus died for us. Not for his own sins, but for our sins. And what are the results? Go back to Hebrews 10. The results of this presentation. The results. Believe it or not, it's a three-point message. the results. Verse 10, by the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. We are sanctified. And we have to include in this, without stepping around and going to other passages, first of all, we have to realize that salvation, the results of his presentation make salvation possible. The only way that we could be sanctified, and that means that we are holy, we are dedicated to God, is that when you receive Jesus Christ by faith, when you come to Him in repentance and you believe on Him, His precious blood is applied to your sins. This sacrifice was a blood sacrifice, amen? because he shed his blood. In fact, you know, there's not. Right here, we could look at many verses about the blood of Christ and what happened to the blood of Christ. Go to 9, verse 12. Hebrews 9, verse 12. Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption. Verse 14, how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal spirit offered himself without spot to God. This is what's happening, the presentation of Christ, the presentation of the blood sacrifice to pay for our sins, to give us salvation. So all those who trust in Christ are dedicated unto God and made holy. Yeah, you say, well, when we're born in this world, we know all of sinning comes short of the glory of God. You're far from being holy. That's why salvation isn't by works, that you can somehow attain a holiness by doing good. No, you must receive this holiness as a gift. And it comes by faith. Go back over to 1 Peter chapter 1, 18. What happens when you believe in Christ? What happens when you receive Him as your Savior? 1 Peter 1 18. For as much as you know that you were not redeemed with corruptible things as silver and gold. See, no one can pay their way into heaven. No one can buy salvation. And it says, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers, we are sinners by birth. We are sinners by choice. And there's nothing we can do to save ourself, but it says we are redeemed, we are saved. Verse 19, the contrast, but with the precious blood of Christ. As of a lamb without blemish and without spot, the lamb of God was presented. The lamb of God, remember what John the Baptist said, behold the lamb of God, which taketh away the sins of the world. Jesus went to the cross, Jesus shed his blood, the lamb of God. was presented and now you can be redeemed. You can be cleansed. You can be saved by the precious blood of Christ. And we read about it over in Hebrews that it was presented to God. So let's remember this when we sing. There's power in the blood. That's what we're singing about. It's the power. This is real. That song is scriptural. There's power in the blood. Amen. Go back to Hebrews. We have sanctification. Not only salvation, but there's sanctification. Hebrews 10. Back to the passage that we're at, Hebrews 10, sorry. Verse 11, let me talk to you, well, let's talk about sanctification, then we'll go to 11. Sanctification is a work of God. In fact, Brother West and I, we're having some theological discussions. He probably doesn't remember anything, because he's been sick. Do you remember? What day was it? What day was it? And we were talking a little bit about this, and I'm not going to go into all the detail, but let me just resume it. If you're saved, hold on, you're sanctified. And if you're sanctified, you're glorified. You can't have salvation without sanctification and without glorification. That was kind of the crux of it. You can't be saved and not be changed. You can't be saved and not be holy. You can't be saved and not know God is in you and working in you and changing you. That's not biblical salvation. That may be popular Christianity today, but it's not Bible salvation. If you're saved, you're sanctified. And if you're sanctified, you're glorified. The only way we know we're saved is because sanctification is happening. It's real. Hopefully that settles the debate, brother. If not, go to 2 Corinthians 5, 17. You know what's the real thing is? And I'll tell you, because it breaks my heart, and I'm sure it breaks Brother West's heart, too. We got people Even family members, they call themselves Christians. With zero evidence. Of salvation. Yet we want to we want to preach them in the heaven. We want to wish them in the heaven. We want to hope them in the heaven. Let me tell you, the better thing is, is to go to them in honesty with a broken heart and say. This is the Bible teaches that when you receive Christ. He comes into your life and you're born again and he makes you a new creature. And when he makes you a new creature, sanctification begins and he begins to change you into the image of Christ. If that's not real in your life, then you didn't get it. You didn't get true salvation. You just got religion. A true relationship with Christ changes you. And let's give glory to God. If it was just human, I got to do it. I didn't change myself. That's human salvation. You're working your way. It's when God comes in, He does the changing. And it's real. You have to know this is real. Do not be deceived. You have to know this is real in your life. Accept it in your family members. Get a broken heart. If you accept it, you're never going to go to them weeping and crying and saying, I want you to be saved. Because you're accepting this cheap salvation. Cheap grace. No, it's real. It changes. And let me tell you. It's eternal. It's forever. Amen. It's forever. Thank God for that. Second Corinthians 517. Brother West, why you gotta get me all riled up like that? Second Corinthians 517. Yep. See, now I know why you need to be right here so you can hear me. Amen. We were talking about that earlier. I said, I'm gonna get Jose to tell me some stories about you so I have some good illustrations in the message. He said, no, I won't do that. I won't pick on you if you sit in the front row. 2 Corinthians 5, 17. Therefore, if any man be in Christ, what's it say? He is a new creature. All things are passed away. Behold, all things are become new. All things, you know, you know what it is, you know what your life was like before Christ. You know when he called you to salvation, that he came in your life and you began to like say, these, I don't want to do this, you know, I don't like living this way anymore. You know, when you come to church, you hear preaching, you're like, all right, I want to do that. He said, do this. He said, do that. Yeah, I want to get, I want to be baptized. I want to be faithful. I want to go to church. And you start learning. Now, if you didn't have that privilege, obviously growth can be hindered if you're not taught. Don't get me wrong. but eventually, and that's the whole debate, eventually, you will get right with God. Eventually, you may stray, but eventually, you will be disciplined. Eventually, you will come back to God. Amen? We could go to the book of Hebrews, chapter 12. When I go there, it talks about discipline. God loves us so much. He's our Father. He's not gonna let us run too far and stray too far. He's gonna discipline us and bring us back. And when he disciplines, he exercises us unto righteousness and holiness, sanctification. It is. Now if we can get every preacher in America to preach this kind of salvation, we'll be better. Get people in America to believe this kind of salvation. So we have this power. Sanctification is a power to transform. And eventually, brethren, when we get to heaven, that's what that salvation, we're justified, we're sanctified and glorified in Christ. It's a package deal, amen? It's bundled, amen? In layman's terms, we'll bundle this together, amen? You get it all. And so we see the work of God is sanctification. But it's going to be in a complete. You're going to one day you're going to step out of this life into heaven. And you're going to be glorified in an instant. You're going to leave your sin behind. You're going to be perfect like Jesus. This is amazing. What a wonderful salvation. Go back to our text. Let me wrap it up. Somehow I got on a rabbit trail. I can blame it on Brother West. That's why he only comes to church once a week. That's all he could take. Now, pray for the West. They want to be here every service. I know every time he calls, he's very disappointed when he has to tell me, Pastor, I'm not going to make it. And I know he doesn't like doing that at all, but he does it out of respect, and I appreciate that. Now, when we went from the verse 10, we talked about salvation, sanctification, but look at verse 11. You have the sacrifices of these Old Testament priests. What do they do? Can you imagine the millions, I'm talking about millions of gallons of blood that was spilt. And every priest standing daily, ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices which can never take away sins. So think about the thousands of years. Think about the Day of Atonement, when they had to offer that lamb without blemish, right? And take it into the Holy of Holies and atone for the sins of the nation. But you know what? These sins, these sacrifices, yearly, the Day of Atonement, never cleansed the sin. Never took away the sin. Basically, it covered the sin. Why do we know that? Because they had to go in day after day after day and make the same offerings, year after year, the same offering. Now we have Jesus. Look at verse 12. But this man, after he had offered what? One sacrifice. Amen? not thousands, not millions, but one sacrifice. He made one sacrifice for sins forever. Isn't this wonderful? It's forever, meaning that it's eternal. What Jesus gives you is a perfect sacrifice because He shed His pure, innocent blood And in that shedding of blood, we go in a lot of verses, he became the propitiation, meaning the divine satisfaction of the demand of the righteousness of the law. His sacrifice satisfied the righteousness, the demands of righteousness of all the Old Testament with one offering. With his life, with his death, with that one offering. He can forgive all of our sins. Past, through the forbearance of God, God saved them on their faith, not because they made these offerings, but because they believed and He forgave them based on this sacrifice, His Son. The blood sacrifice of His Son. Amen? That's why it's a one offering for sins. It's once and for all, and it's forever. And remember, when he got to heaven, he sat down. This is what we're going to be preaching on Wednesday, my final message in this series. The preeminence of the Lamb of God. We're going to look at him in heaven. The Lamb of God is in heaven now. But he went from this presentation and he sat down, meaning his work is done, his sacrifice is made. It's a perfect sacrifice. Do you believe that? And it says in verse 14, He hath, by this one offering, he hath perfected forever them that are sanctified, perfected, meaning God sees us. This is the amazing thing. This is where we have to accept the grace of God. We have to believe the word of God. We have to accept the righteousness of God that he provides through Christ by faith, because this is true. When God sees us and we're saved, we're truly saved. He sees the righteousness of Christ, the holiness of Christ on us. He doesn't see our sin. He sees Christ's sacrifice. His blood. Isn't that wonderful? And now you can go to heaven. Now he can be in his presence. Now he can declare you justified. He can declare you sanctified. He can declare you holy. He can declare you glorified. And you know, I already said this many times, but let me get it so you get it again. Do you know Romans 8? Those terms are past tense. It's already done. It's past tense because if we're in Christ, that's the reality. It's a done deal. Amen. Are you thankful God guarantees salvation to everyone who comes to Christ by faith? You are made complete, you know, the word perfect. He perfected them. You are made complete in Christ. You are made perfect in Christ, complete. Not that you never sin again. But that you, you, God looks at you and that perfection he sees in you is the perfection of his son, Jesus Christ. And that righteousness, you know, another good book to study is the book of Romans. And it talks about how we are declared righteous. You know, it talks all about righteousness. That we are unrighteous, that's the first message. But how do you get righteousness? Remember, and then he uses Abraham and David. They received it as faith, by faith. Not because they kept the law, but because they believed by faith. And that's amazing, God used Abraham and David, the Old Testament characters, to show us what faith is. Hebrews 11 is Old Testament characters, because they lived by faith. Salvation was by faith. Or we wouldn't have a faith chapter. Or we wouldn't be using Abraham and David as examples of faith in salvation and how to be justified by faith. Aren't you thankful that when God looks at you, he doesn't see you, he sees his son. Amen? He sees you as Jesus is. That's what that phrase is. He's perfected us forever. He sees us as Jesus is. Why don't we start living like it, amen? That's a good message. And it says these words, forever. you can never lose it. And you know why? Because God's never going to lose you. We are kept by the power of God. It says in 2 Peter, I believe. Yes, 1 Peter 1.5. We are kept by the power of God unto a salvation ready to be revealed. You are kept by God's power for that perfection day, for that day when you are going to be glorified and perfect in Christ. Amen. You're kept by God. Thank God for His eternal salvation. So when Jesus died on the cross, Aren't you thankful that his death was not the end of the story? What do these verses tell us? No, he sat down. He entered the Holy of Holies. When did he do that? He did it in heaven. He did it because he rose from the dead. And he sat down at the right hand of God. And one day, all the enemies are going to be under his feet, the Bible tells us. In verse number 13, from henceforth, expect until his enemies be made his footstool. You know, all the enemies are going to be under the feet of Jesus. He's going to rule and reign forever. Listen, he's alive. He was born to die. He died. He gave the perfect sacrifice. He ascended back to heaven. He's exalted at the right hand of God. But he's coming back. And we need to be ready. And the only way to be ready is to receive Him. He was born in Bethlehem. Now He needs to be born in your heart by faith. You need to receive Him. There was no room for Him in the end, but you need to have room for Him in your life, in your hearts. Receive Him. It's not works. It's by faith. Believe this message. Believe Hebrews 10 about his offering of his body, about his blood sacrifice for our sins. Believe that there's power in the blood to save you and sanctify you and keep you forever, eternally saved. Amen. One day, every knee will bow. And every tongue will confess that he is Lord. In that day, let's say we never do it in this lifetime, you will do it. Like you could be arguing with God, saying, I don't need this. I don't like this. I don't want this. And be fighting God. But in that day, you'll say, Lord, you are the Lord. You are, what you said is true. But in that day, it's too late. There's no second opportunity. You can't be saved in that day because you've already lived your life. You've already made your decisions. You've died. The day of judgment has come. Every knee is going to bow. Every tongue is going to confess that Jesus is Lord to the glory of God the Father. You know what the message is? Do it now. Do it now. Don't wait until it's eternally too late. Do it now. Let's all stand, every head bowed, every eye closed.
