to be able to join in the prayer meeting, appreciate what Sermon Audio is doing and what you all are doing in meeting regularly and daily. I was actually going to do a little devotional today on contentment, but this morning as I was reading and studying and preparing for something else, the Lord really impressed on me a different thought. And so obviously always want to be sensitive to his leading. And so I thought I would share that with you all as we think about praying together, engaging together, laboring together in this process of prayer. This is definitely a group effort, not a single individual effort. And so it's always important for us to think in terms of of a group concept and laboring together. And I was reminded of a couple of different passages of scripture. The first one being Genesis 1, 26, where at the beginning of creation, as God is determining to create man in Genesis 1, 26, he says, let us make man in our image after our likeness The three pronouns that is used there are descriptive of a group of people laboring together. Let us make man in our image after our likeness. We know in Genesis 11, verse seven, God mentions this as well, the same idea when he says, come, let us go down and there confuse their language. working together as a group, working together in the Trinity, working together, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, laboring together, ministering together as a Trinity. We know in John chapter 17, verses 20 through 23, the kind of the final prayer, the, that Christ is giving in John chapter 17, verses 20 through 23. He says this, I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. The glory that you have given me, I have given to them, that they may be one, even as we are one. I in them and you in me and that they become perfectly one so that the world may know that you sent me and love them even as you have loved me. So these are just a couple of quick examples, scriptural examples of the co-laboring oneness of the Godhead, laboring together. One of the things that's often amazed me is that if each one of the members of the Trinity is fully competent, fully capable, you know, all of the aspects of omnipresence and omnipotence and omniscience and sovereignty, but they labor together, then how much more must we labor together? That does not be an individual effort. Christianity cannot be an individual effort, if you will, even though we each have our own accountability of our own actions and being, but we labor together. I think this prayer meeting is a demonstration of that and that idea. And so when we think about the Trinity, it's laboring in love. It's not laboring rooted or motivated by power, one domineering or showing more power over the other, it's rooted in love and laboring together and deference to one another. And so when we think about how then we respond to that as believers, Psalm chapter 34 verse three reminds us, let us exalt his name together. We know from Psalm chapter 95 verses one through three and verse six, it says, oh come, let us sing to the Lord. Let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving. Let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise. And then verse six, O come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before the Lord, our maker. And so the plural pronoun usage, our world is consumed by pronoun usage right now, but scripture reminds us clearly of the proper use of pronouns as we engage together, we are coming together, worshiping together, laboring together. And then of course we know Hebrews 4, verse 16, let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace that we may receive mercy and we may find grace to help in time. of need, as we think about our response in light of the Trinity, who labors out of love, not out of power, who labors out of love, co-laboring, ministering together in perfect harmony, we should do the same, rooted and grounded in love, engaged in love with one another, coming together, worshiping together, praising God together, praying together, engaging and serving together, in that process. If each one of us just, we can obviously meet on our own and pray on our own, that's obviously acceptable and desired. But what a great joy to be able to think about and to be able to have the reality of people representing a form of heaven, if you will, where every tribe, tongue and nation gathers electronically together to praise and worship and pray to our savior and to our God. And what a foretaste of heaven when we will gather around the throne of Christ from every tribe, tongue and nation to praise Him. And so we look forward to that. And so we think about this prayer meeting in terms of a labor together, not a single person effort, but a group effort rooted in love, not only for God, but in love for one another. Even though we've not met each other, many of us in person, we have a common bond of Jesus Christ and of God. And what a beautiful image of what Christ expects of us and desires of us. So just some thoughts this morning to think about and working as a demonstration and outflow of the Trinity, laboring in love. We labor in love in this matter of exaltation of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
