Gatherings that Build up the Church

Working definitions/descriptions:
Gift of tongues – Spirit-given ability to speak human languages to God which are unknown to the speaker.
Gift of prophecy – Spirit-empowered teaching and application of Scripture.

vv6-19:

1. Words must be understandable to build up the church – vv6-11.
2. When members come seeking to build up the church – v12.
3. Minds must be engaged to build up the church – vv13-19.

Preparing your heart for the sermon:
-Why was the gift of tongues not edifying the church in Corinth?
-How is the gift of prophecy much more valuable than tongues in building up the church?
-How is God glorified by the church being built up?
