I used to like to sing there when we were in Altoona. The morning light is breaking, the darkness disappears. The sons of earth are waking to penitential tears. Each wave that breaks the ocean brings tidings from afar of nations in commotion prepared for Zion's war.
I hope we're prepared for Zion's war. because it is a spiritual, ecclesiastical, and theological battle that has to be fought by every believer in the Lord Jesus Christ. That's the thing that's missing today in much of modern literature and modern teaching. We don't hear very much about the theological and spiritual battle that must be fought.
And we mentioned that in the last time that we were talking, that the Apostle Paul said, we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and against the rulers of the darkness of this age. And that word there with the rulers in it is one long word in Greek. It is kosmos kratos. That is world powers, or world rulers. So these, whoever are being described, are world rulers, rulers of the world. And they're the rulers of the darkness of this world. And that's Aeon Age, the darkness of this age.
So this is a dark age that we're in, pneumatically. People keep emphasizing that we are God's creation, and I believe that wholeheartedly, without reservation. But we have to remember the creation fell in Adam. The creation is not the same as it was when God created Adam and Eve when they hadn't fallen. We're in a fallen world, a fallen creation now. And the whole creation, the Bible says, groans and travails until now, looking for the redemption to come.
We're certainly looking for the redemption to come, but we have to recognize that this age, it's the darkness of this age ruled over by the world rulers who are at enmity with God. And we certainly see that in the Antichrist, he is the one who is the supreme ruler of the darkness of this age. And we see that the Bible says that the God of this age, the God of this world, blinds the minds of those that believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
As Calvin has said, Christ is the only image of God that we know. Every other image is an idol. So remember that. Christ is the only image of God and he is the image of God. He says, who has seen me, has seen me, has seen the father, he said to Philip. So if you look at Christ and you see God, you see the God man.
But the Bible reveals that Satan is now the God of this age to all those who do not believe in the God of the Bible. So again, we see that idea that we're in a battle there against Satan and that his chief object is to blind the mind of those that believe not. The mind is very important and we see that in the other portion that we dealt with earlier about the warfare that we are to fight because Paul closes that off with bringing every thought, that's the mind, how the mind thinks, bringing every thought into the captivity to the obedience of Christ.
And it's there that Satan attacks us in the mind and we are to have this mind that was in Christ Jesus. who thought of himself not to be equal with God, but took upon himself the form of a servant, which is, due law, slave. He took upon himself the form of a slave and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. He humbled himself. Down, that's the mind of Christ. That's what we are to follow.
So we have to see the battle rages around us on all fronts. But the main front is the Bible, the Word of God. And that the interpretation of the Bible, the understanding of it, the believing of it, the preaching of it, all those have to do with the mind, how we understand the truth. And our minds are to be filled with the knowledge of God and with the scripture so that we can answer those who ask us and give a reason for the hope that we have in Christ Jesus alone.
