CHARLES LEE FEINBERG said in his book; DANIEL: THE KINGDOM OF THE LORD...
“This was a great moral and spiritual decision for Daniel. He had witnessed the great upheavals in Israel during the declining years of the monarchy, and the transition from Israel's independence to the “times of the Gentiles” was certainly not lost on him. Yet he was mature enough to recognize the spiritual significance of these events. He determined, therefore, to walk in the way of faith and in obedience to God's will. He would not drift with the currents of the times, come what may. His actions were a combination of godliness, courtesy, and courage... It would have been so easy for Daniel to shift responsibility in this matter from himself to the king. He could have claimed that while he was under Nebuchadnezzar's authority he had to obey. Had not God permitted them to be taken captive to Babylon? But these Hebrew youths looked beyond earthly issues and saw in the king's order a test of faith. Would they remain true to God, even in idolatrous Babylon? Here was a remarkable opportunity to serve God in a strange place, where so little was known of God.”
I really want to focus on our youth, but this does apply to all, because they have more choices ahead of them. The decisions we make today will bear fruit tomorrow and possibly for days, weeks and years to come. Our lives are one big battlefield with each choice capable of bringing victory or defeat, freedom or capture, safety or injury. Our enemy is watching us because his sole desire is to defeat us in any way possible. He doesn't have to kill us just get us to choose to be like him.
