This is the audio recording of Liberty Gospel Tract TRE 184. The title is A True Life Story, Rain or Shine. Jerry's occupation was a postal carrier. Jerry was born in Greenville, Michigan, on January 20, 1943. Because he carried mail for 32 years, first in the neighboring city of Belding and then in Greenville, his face was well known in the area. That was a good thing, not a bad thing, because despite the bills that come in the mail, people still look forward to seeing the mailman come. Everyone hopes for a personal letter in the mail that holds good news. The Bible says, as cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country. Proverbs 25, verse 25. The mailman gets to enjoy the beautiful sunny days outside as he delivers the mail, but he also has to trudge through the rain and snow when that comes. It is sometimes a hard life for the mailman, but people count on him, enduring the hardships, so that they might have faithful mail service. Some wonderful things in life come through the sacrifice of others. Jerry did not really understand about a special sacrifice that was made for him until he was 34 years old. His wife Carol learned about it first. Do you know what that sacrifice was? The Bible says, but God commendeth his love toward us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5 verse 8. Why did Jesus Christ die for us on the cross? That verse tells us why. Because we are sinners. Who his own self bear our sins in his own body on the tree. 1 Peter 2 verse 24. Why are we sinners? Did God make us that way? No. God made everything perfect. The Bible says, And God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. Genesis 1, verse 31. We were created in God's image. God is good, not evil. The Bible says God created man in his own image. Genesis 1, verse 27. Then why are we sinners, and how did we get this way? God did not create us as robots. He made us with a free will, with the ability to make choices in life. Jerry made the choice to be a postal carrier. He was not a robot doing that job. We have the choice to obey or to disobey God. Adam and Eve chose to disobey God's one and only rule in the Garden of Eden. Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat, but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil thou shalt not eat of it, for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die." Genesis 2 verses 16 and 17. When Jerry first learned that Carol had repented of her sins and asked the Lord Jesus Christ to save her, He thought that he had literally lost the love of his life to someone else. But Carol did not start preaching at him. She quietly followed the Bible's instructions. Likewise ye wise, be in subjection to your own husbands, that if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives, while they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear. Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair and of wearing of gold or putting on of apparel, but let it be the hidden man of the heart, and that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price." 1 Peter 3, verses 1 through 4. God rewarded Carol by sending an old friend of Jerry's who gave him the gospel. Jerry then repented of his sins and asked the Lord Jesus Christ to save him. Jerry delivered the gospel message door to door, he preached it in the park, he gave it out riding the gospel float and the parades, and he put together Bible study booklets that would be shipped around the world. Who is the Lord Jesus Christ? He is the Son of God, the Creator of heaven, earth, and every one and thing in it. He is God Almighty in the flesh. The name Lord means Master. Do you desire to repent of your sin and obey the Lord? The name Jesus means Savior. your good deeds cannot pay for your sins. The Bible says, for the wages of sin is death. Romans 6 verse 23. Jesus loved you enough to die on the cross, giving his pure, sinless blood to pay the wages of your sin. The name Christ means Messiah. He is coming again, and it could be at any moment. Are you ready? The Bible says, prepare to meet thy God. Amos 4 verse 12. The proof that Jesus successfully paid the wages of your sins is the fact that he arose from the grave. The Bible says he was buried and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures. First Corinthians 15 verse 4. to be saved, you must call upon the Lord Jesus from your heart. The Bible says that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Romans 10, verses 9 and 13. Call upon the Lord Jesus Christ right now. Ask Him to forgive you and to cleanse you and to save you. After we ask the Lord Jesus Christ to save us, then God instructs us to get baptized under the water in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Baptism does not save us. It is the outward testimony that Jesus has saved us. and that we want to now live for Him. Therefore we are buried with Him by baptism into death, that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Romans 6, verse 4. When we get saved and then follow the Lord and believers' baptism, when we go under that water, it pictures death to the old life of sin. When we come out of that water, pictures a new life, a resurrected life, serving the Lord Jesus Christ. My friend, are you tired of serving sin? Are you tired of the emptiness in life?
