In this text, at the beginning of this text and throughout this chapter is the testimony of Jesus and the response to that testimony. That's what's important for us in this chapter. And we begin with the one that really sets the controversy, that really upsets them and begins again this tension by Jesus saying, I am the light of the world. And so we'll consider this verse loosely under two points. We'll consider it under Jesus' declaration and Jesus' promise.
