Hey, good morning, everyone. Welcome to another morning devotion with Brother Mark, where we are walking together on our walk with Christ. Today is December the 7th, 2023. You know, I didn't really have it in mind until I noticed the date, but this is a day that will live in infamy. We do remember that so many lives were lost on this day in Pearl Harbor. So many have lost their lives for the cause of freedom, and for that we're thankful. But today I want us to think about James 4, 6, but he giveth more grace. In this passage, James is discussing lust, which leads to envy. He reminds his readers that even though they may be tempted to lust, God's grace is to the humble. What a glorious truth that is. God gives grace to the humble. We all know that the battle we face with the flesh every day. Satan, the wily old devil, seems to know our weaknesses. He seems to know the place where we are susceptible to temptation. He knows the way to present the temptation to us, that we will be seduced by it. Sometimes we even fall. So James is encouraging these Christians to remember the grace of God. You see, not only does Satan love to dangle a temptation in front of us, he also likes to accuse us after we have fallen to temptation. He doubles the pressure through guilt. And because of that, sometimes we're even like, well, does God even love me? Have I sinned too much? Have I gone too far this time? And it's easy for us to feel guilty when we fall prey to temptation. We know the choice we just made is not pleasing to the Father. We may even realize because we made the decision that chastening is on the horizon. And that understanding even of the guilt that we feel because of the sin is part of the chastening. And if we want to live free of guilt, just don't make decisions that are displeasing to the Father. But sometimes, we do make decisions that we fall prey to the flesh and we succumb to the temptation of sin and lust. So what do we do when we find ourselves in this place? We're being convicted because we have succumbed to the temptations of the flesh. Well, James says, remember grace, that he giveth more grace. Remember that God gives grace to the humble. His grace is far greater than all of our sin. Reminds me of a song. Grace that is greater than all my sin. Grace, grace, just remember grace. Don't be like those who James mentions in James chapter number four, as being proud. The proud don't sense conviction of sin because they are self-righteous. They don't need grace. And James tells us that God resisteth the proud. And because they don't humble themselves before the Lord, they will not find grace. So today, if you find yourself in need of grace, you have fallen to the temptations of the flesh, You've not been able to mortify the deeds of the flesh in this area, and now the weight of that sin is bearing down on you. So much so that maybe you even feel like giving up. Well, don't give up. Remember, God gives more grace. He gives More grace. Humble yourselves, as it says in 1 Peter 5, 6, humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time. Remember, there is grace. There is more grace. Grace, more grace than you'll ever need. You can't, you can't use up the supply of God's grace. Just remember, though, that he gives more grace to the humble. He gives grace to those who will humble themselves in the sight of the Lord. So today, if you're feeling the guilt of sin, humble yourself. Seek the grace of God and you'll find it. Let's pray. Heavenly Father, today we thank you for grace. We thank you that more grace available than our sins require. I pray today that one who needs grace will humble themselves before you and seek your grace. Help them to submit to you, resist the devil, and purify their hearts by drawing nigh to you. Thank you, this is possible through Jesus Christ. In his name we pray, amen. Hope you're having a good week. Until the next time, this is Brother Mark signing off.
