Dear Holy Father, I just thank
you for this morning, and I just thank you for all the moisture
that you're giving us right now, Lord. And I just pray that we'll
be thankful for it and just honor you for giving us what we need
so desperately right now. I thank you for this class, Lord,
and for the opening of your word and the teaching from Brother
Jim, Lord. I pray that you'll open our hearts
and our minds, that we'll be able to soak it in and then use
it for your glory. We ask this in your son Jesus'
name. Amen. Amen. Well, we're teaching John the
fourth chapter, but like I said, you have to go backwards to go
forwards. If you don't go backwards, you
won't know where you are. As simple as that. You have to
go back to Genesis, the 45th chapter, Genesis chapter 45 and
just hold your place. Go to Genesis 45 and stay there. We're gonna start with about
38. But in the New Testament, We're in John 4, and we're talking about the Samaritans,
the Samaritans. By the way, this afternoon I'm
teaching the creation of the heavens and the earth from the
Hebrew text. If you're interested in finding
out what the Bible says about the creation, This is the time
to do it. My students are doing the create
doing the translations. I tell them how to do it. We
read the Hebrew text and they tell me what it says. Now that's
real good, but I've got some that are able to do that. But
if you know a little bit of grammar, you can do it anyway. It's pretty
simple. All right, so let's go to and
look at the Samaritans. The Samaritans were walked. Who
were these people? Brother Andy. Well, these are Ephraim and Manasseh's
children. They were carried off into the
Syrian captivity and they were half-breeds and brought back.
Yeah, and that's how they are Jews. They are Ephraim and Manasseh.
These are Joseph's children. They're not from Babylonia. These are from Assyria. These
are the ones that were carried off into the Assyrian captivity
and then brought back in. And this is Ephraim from Manasseh.
Ephraim and Manasseh, which are Joseph's children. And Joseph
is a type of Christ in so many ways. So Jesus is going to talk
to these people concerning and from their own background. from their own background. Now
this is very beautiful because you miss this so much if you
don't know the background. He even uses the term of Joseph's
title. Joseph's title in Egypt. He even
uses that. Now if you don't know the Hebrew
and you don't know the Egyptian, you're going to miss it. Okay?
But we're going to go and look at that today. So let's go to
John 4 and verse 39. And from the city many of the
Samaritans believed. Now we know that when Jesus wanted
the Jews, what did they do? They wanted to kill him when
he announced who he was. Now these Samaritans are half-breed
Assyrians and descendants of Ephraim and Manasseh, which is
Joseph, okay? Let's look at this now. in him
because of the word of the woman." Now, the woman went back, now
this was a floozy, that went back that she was, you know,
married five times and the very, you know, the American woman
dream today. But she was married five times
and she was a very, a woman of ill repute. Okay, but now Jesus
speaks to her and according to the rabbinical law They could
have stoned Jesus for talking to this woman According to the
rabbinical law. We're not talking about the law
of God. We're talking about their rules Their rules not God's rules
the mission and the Talmud. We've got two Talmuds and one
Mishnah, don't we? All right, all of them are traditions
that what Jesus attacked we have a Jerusalem Talmud They had the
Babylonian Talmud. They had the Mishnah and we also
have the Jerusalem Talmud, which was made basically down in Tiberias
of the time. Okay now They they believe because of
the word of this woman and And he told me all things that I
have done. And so when the Samaritans came to him, they were asking
him to stay with them, and he stayed there two days. Two days
in Samaria. How long did he get to stay in
Nazareth? When he announced his messianic
credentials. They wanted to kill him right
on the spot and shove him off a cliff. Okay? And many more
believed because of his word, Jesus' word now. Now we go back
to the book of Genesis in just a moment. And they were saying
to the woman, it is no longer because of what you said that
we believe, for we have heard for ourselves and know that this
one indeed is Zephanath-paneah, soter-kazmu. Zephanath-paneah,
soter-kazmu. Zephaneth Penea, that's Egyptian. Okay. Soter Cosmo is the Greek
Septuagint. Translation of the book of Genesis
there. It's talking about the title
of Joseph in Egypt. Okay. Now let's go back. Savior
of the world. And after two days, he went forth
from Galilee, and for Jesus testified that a prophet has no honor in
his own country. Now he was in half-breed country.
These people were barely Jews at all, but they were descendants
of Joseph and Manasseh. I mean, Manasseh and Ephraim. Now let's go back to Genesis
45. And let's catch up on the story that
Jesus is telling to these people. Verse number 38. Now we know
that Joseph was hauled off down into Egypt. He was sold into
Egypt by his brothers. And they wanted to kill him. But you remember, Judah said,
no, don't kill him. We'll sell him. Of course, Judah
was going to give him back to his father. But when they found
out that, you know, He'd been taken off. They all weeped. Then
they made up the story that he was killed. And now God has taken
care of him, no matter what happens. Joseph, in so many ways, is a
type of Christ. And what books do the Samaritans
study? What books do they study? What
part of the Bible? The first five books of Pentateuch are
the books of Moses only. That's what they, that's what
they study. So now this was written, this book here is written by
Moses. How do you say Moses in Hebrew? Moshe. What does it mean? To draw out or to rescue. Okay. Then Pharaoh said to his servants,
can we find a man like this in whom we have divine spirit? Now
he's going to tell them how to save Egypt. Okay. So Pharaoh
said to Joseph, since God has informed you of all of this,
there is no one so discerning and wise as you are, and you
shall be over my house, over my house, over Pharaoh's house. He's going to be the boss of
Pharaoh's house, not Pharaoh, but he is. Okay. That means family
too, doesn't it? You Hebrew students, family.
Remember? All right? His family. And according
to the command of all my people shall do homage only to in the
throne I will be greater than you. That's all. Now, in all
reality, right at this point, Joseph was made ruler of all
of Egypt. made ruler of all of Egypt, and
he brings in, into Egypt, he brings Egypt under the control
of the whole world, the whole known world at that time. Remember,
Egypt, there was a great drought in all the lands. How does Egypt
water her crops? By the Nile. So actually, there
wasn't so much drought in Nile as there was the rest, because
the Nile didn't dry up. Okay, so they were still farming down
there, but all the rest of the land they're completely devastated
and Joseph is going to give them a 20% tax of all and basically
he hands into Pharaoh's hands the deed to all of the lands
in the whole world To all the lands and the whole world in
that area like Jesus is going to bring in the millennial reign
of Jesus. All right, and And Pharaoh said
to Joseph, see, I have set you over all the land of Egypt. And
Pharaoh took off his signet ring. That's how you sign every legal
document. You pressed that signet ring
into wax or clay, and it was a legal document. He, by Joseph's
signature, everything shall be done. And he put on Joseph's hand and
clothed him with garments of fine linen, and put the gold
necklace about his neck. And he had him ride in his second
chariot, and they proclaimed before him, bow the knee. And
he set him over all the land of Egypt. More favorable said
to Joseph, though I am favorable, yet without your permission,
no one shall raise his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt,
including him. I won't do anything. unless you
say so, you are the supreme ruler of Egypt. Verse number 45, now
here is the, this is the key, okay, this is the key. Then Pharaoh
named Joseph savior of the world, Zaphonath Paneah, and he gave
him Asanath, the daughter of Potipharah, priest of On, as
his wife, and Joseph went forth over the land of Egypt. Now,
so these boys, Ephraim and Manasseh are half Egyptian. All right. Now when Abraham went down there,
Abraham was given a daughter of Pharaoh. Remember what her
name was? Hagar. Hagar was Pharaoh's daughter. She was his daughter by a concubine. That was a political marriage.
Finally, Sarah forced him to cohabit with her, and she brought
forth Ishmael. And what does Ishmael mean? Ishmael. God hears. God hears. God hears. He heard her prayers, all right?
Of course, now, we know that Abraham had three children, or
three wives, that is. He had a lot of children. But
Abraham had three wives. The first child that he ever
bore from a woman was a Hamite child to Hagar, which was Ishmael,
which would become basically the father of the Arab races. Then the next son he had was
what? Yitchik. Yitchik, which means
pleasure or to laugh or whatever. And then he had more children,
didn't he? By whom? Of course, Sarah was what? She
was a Shemite. Now his last wife, Keturah, is
who? Huh? She's a Japhethite. She's
white. The Japheth, the Caucasian, that's
what she is. She's white. And then he has
several sons by him. And most genealogists now believe
that Alexander the Great was a descendant of Abraham through
Keturah. We know that the Midianites were.
And Moses' wife is of what? Midianite, all right, which are
Abraham as their father, with Keturah, all right, which is
Japhethite. So we got all this mixed blood
coming down to us today, through all of those races, all right.
And Joseph went forth over all the land of Egypt. All right, now he gave him a A woman of royal lineage. By the way, only the priests
of Egypt did not lose their property. Everybody else in Egypt lost
their property except the priests. The priests retained their property. And Joseph was over all the priests. Now he was a priest because he
was married into the priestly line. All right. Now let's go
back. Well, anyway, let's go on for
one more verse now Joseph was how old? 30 years old. How was G? How old was Jesus
when he began his ministry 30 years old now? Do you see how
Jesus is tying himself to the descendants of Ephraim and Manasseh
and telling them and they realized and they click in their minds
that said this is Joseph and This is our type of the Messiah. Joseph, savior of the world. So Tad or Cosmo, savior of the
world. Now Joseph was 30 years old when he stood before Pharaoh,
king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from the
presence of Pharaoh and went to all the land of Egypt. And during the seven years, the
plenty of the land brought forth abundantly. And he gathered all
the food these seven years. and occurred in the land of Egypt,
and placed the food in cities. And he placed in every city the
food from its own surrounding fields. And Joseph stored up
grain in great abundance like the sand of the sea, until he
stopped measuring it, for it was beyond measure." Go back
into John, the fourth chapter now. There it brings you up to
what's going on there in Samaria. These boys and girls there are
remembering the book of Genesis. And of course, what was the first
question that the Samaritan woman, when she realized that Jesus
was a great prophet, what was the first question that she asked
him? Yeah, have I got the right religion?
Am I okay? Am I going to church at the right
place? And he told her what? No. No, you worship that which you
don't understand. Salvation is of the Jews. All right. Now, these people
were part Jew. Matter of fact, they're the most inbred people
in the world. They have never married outside
of the people to this day. Randy, have you been over there?
You've been to this area there at Shechem, at Jacob's Well. I drank from Jacob's Well. I
remember it was a very deep well. Yeah. I was in that area. Yeah up on Mount Gerizim they
still offer sacrifices. They still worship God according
to the five books of Moses and Jesus told them back then they
were wrong. A lot of those follow Jesus. They were great faithful
followers of Jesus. Now let's go on a little bit
further. In verse number 42 let's reread it and they were saying
to the woman is no longer because of what you said that we believe
for we have heard for Ourselves and know that this one is indeed
Zafirnath Paneer or Soterra Cosmo savior of the world and after
two days he went forth there to Galilee for himself testified
a prophet has no honor in his own country and So when he came
to Galilee, the Galileans received him, having seen all the things
that he did in Jerusalem at the feast. For they themselves also
went to the feast. Now we come to a nobleman. In
verse number 46, let's look at this nobleman. What is a nobleman? Huh? What is a nobleman? Brother Mike, you got any idea
what a nobleman is? He's in the ruling. He's what?
Well, he's in the ruling class. a government official, high government
official, usually by birth or whatever. And he came, therefore,
again to Cana of Galilee, to Cana of Galilee. What does Cana
mean? Do you have any idea? Canon?
Cana? Plenty or a gift or gotten. You know, cane, it comes from
the same root as cane. Okay, gotten. Cana of Galilee,
where he made water wine. Now this is the first place where
he performed a miracle. The first place, why did Jesus
do the miracles? You have any idea why Jesus did
the miracles? Why did he do the miracles? His
mama told him. His mama told him. My mama told
me a few things. Why did Jesus do the miracles?
You remember Joanne? Why did he do it? He did it for
a purpose. What was the purpose Jason Well
fulfilled prophecy, but what was it doing? What was the purpose
that Jesus did the miracle show? His messianic credentials. These
are proving that he is the Messiah Now he's going back to Canaan
and Galilee where they tried to kill him All right. This is
right in that area. Okay? Well, they tried to kill
him where he did turn the water into wine and there was a certain
royal official and Royal fit a prince a prince whose son was
sick ostinia sick weak Weak at Capernaum. What does Capernaum
mean for Capernaum? Capernaum comes from kathar and
the home kathar and the home Beloved covering They were proud
of this place. They loved this town. This was
their beloved home, okay? And when he heard that Jesus
had come out of Judea into Galilee, he went to him and was requesting,
literally, he kept on begging him to come down and to heal
his son, for he was at the very point of death. He was on his
deathbed, this boy was. And Jesus therefore said unto
him, unless you people see the signs and wonders, you simply
will not believe. unless you see signs and wonders. Now, Jesus had completely proved
that he was a Messiah so far. He was a prophet. He had done
miracles. What kind of miracles had Jesus
performed? Well, over the physical universe,
he turned water into wine. Real good wine, oinos, not ganamatos
tezamplou. What's ganamatos tezamplou, Roger,
you remember that? Fruit of the vine, that wasn't
grape juice. This was oinos, this was wine, this is aged,
beautiful, wonderful wine that he turned it into. Okay, good
wine. Okay. Unless you people see signs
and wonders, you simply will not believe. And the royal official
said to him, Sir, Master, Lord, Come down before my child dies. How many of you have a child
that you love? Yeah? You love your children. You don't
want to see them hurt. You don't want to see them die. You don't
want this to happen, but sometimes you do that. One old adage is
a father and mother should never attend the funeral of their children. The children should attend the
funeral of the father and the mother. It's terrible for you
to see your children die. Well, this man was beside himself. This was basically, this was
the heir, too. This was his firstborn son. We
get that in Greek. This is the heir. All right?
The wheels, the heir. It is his heir. All right? Come down, my son. My heir dies. And Jesus said to him, go your
way. Your son lives. This Really good medicine people
I'm gonna tell you now the Jews kept saying that he was he was
a Magician that you know, where did Jesus go and was raised in
the very first part of his life? Where did he where did he have
to escape to? Egypt when he was down there he went down there
and those Egyptians taught him all these magic potions and all
these cures because if you study history now If you study history,
who were the greatest doctors in the world? From what race?
The Hamites. The American Indians. When Europe
came to America, they had the greatest medicines in the world
right here. Another place where there are
great medicines, or where? China. Another place where there's
great medicines, or where? Egypt. Where did they do operations? Egypt China and America they
had dentists in America before Christ They were doing they were
doing dentistry and brain surgeon in America and they knew what
the circle was too and they had the zero here before Christ The
Arabs finally invented the zero. That's where we have the Arabic
symbols During the what we call the the
The Muslim Renaissance yeah the Muslim Renaissance
when the algebra and all that stuff was invented but they already
had it over here they already had it down in Egypt how do you
think they built those pyramids exactly they didn't do it by
looking and guessing brother yes It could be, yeah. There was
a lot of information and a lot of medicine. But the whole story
here is they, the Jews, are accusing Jesus of going down there and
becoming an advanced pharmacist and an advanced doctor. And that's
how he's doing it. He's doing these miracles. The
only reason why he ever healed anybody was to prove he was a
Messiah. And he does that without doubt. And Jesus said to him,
go your way for your son lives. Now this is going beyond laying
hands on anybody. Beyond giving them any medicine.
He's doing this from afar. He wasn't there. Okay. And Jesus spoke to him and he
started off. And as he was going down, his slaves, now this man
was a slave owner. This man is what we call a patron. He is a slave owner. He owns
great property and everything because he is a prince. Now his
bought and paid for servants, his slaves, met him saying that
his heir, your first born son, your heir, he lives. So he inquired
of them the hour. that he began to get better,
and they said to him yesterday, at the seventh hour, the fever
left him. Most of the time, these pterosis
fever, this fire that gets in people, that's when you get killed.
Maryland had 103 fever here a while back from the flu and pneumonia,
and I had it for 102 for six days, and then it turned into
pneumonia. And that's fire. And you know
what? One of my friend's dear mother
died of that very flu. She was in good health and everything.
She got the flu and it killed her. Killed a lot of people. That fever, the fever, this destroys
your body. It makes you so weak. This boy
had some kind of fever. Whatever kind of disease it could
have been, a measles, it could have been rheumatic fever, it
could have been whatever. But he had it. And so the father
knew that it was at that hour that which Jesus said to him,
your son, he lives. And he himself believed, and
his whole household. He did what? Believe. I'm going to tell you something,
the man was a believer before he went. He believed that Jesus
could sure that boy when he went there. But now, his whole family
believes, including the boy that got healed. This is his firstborn
son. Right and this again is the second
sign that Jesus performed when he had come out of Judah Judea
into Galilee the second great miracle All right number chapter
number five the healing at Bethesda Okay Metta taught a that's what
it says in Greek after these things. I There kept on being
a feast of the Jews, literally, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
Jerusalem is up from just about everywhere, by the way. Am I
right about that, Randy? It's up. There's only one place
higher than Jerusalem, and that's what? The Mount of Olives. Right across the ravine there. Now, there was in Jerusalem by
the Sheep Gate. The Sheep Gate. What's the Sheep
Gate? That's what we call Stephen's Gate, the Sheep Gate. What was
brought through the Sheep Gate? The sheep, for what? The sacrifice. These were the certified sheep
that were brought in there for sacrifice, okay? And there was
a pool there. Now, what do you think there
was a pool for? Did the Jews know anything about baptizing
before Jesus came along or John the Baptist? They had ritual,
yeah. They had baptismal pools all
over the place. Now this was a baptismal pool
where they washed sheep. They had to be clean before they
were offered, because those sheep represented what? What did the
sheep represent? Behold the Lamb of God, which
takes away the sin of the world. That's what John the Baptist
said, wasn't he? He's the sheep, the one sheep that takes away
the sin of the world. All these sheep were a type of him. They
would take them and wash them in that pool, and they'd take
them in there. to be sacrificed. They had to be perfect without
spotter blemish and they didn't want any dirt on them or anything
else. They had to be perfect like Jesus. Now there was in Jerusalem a
sheep gate, a pool, which is called in the Hebrew Bethesda,
having four porches. In these lay a multitude of those
who kept on being sick, kept on being ill, blind, lame, withered. What's withered? What's withered
mean? You know what withered means?
Anybody? Withered? What does withered mean? Atrophy. Atrophy. Paralyzation brings
atrophy. And when you are paralyzed, the
limb that's paralyzed atrophies. It has no muscle or anything
anymore, and you can't use it. With strokes, that happens. Spinal
injuries and all that, all this is all together. So these people
could have had any kind of illness that would have called paralyzation.
Withered. Waiting for the moving of the
waters. All right, now, if you look there,
What does it say about waiting for the moving of the waters?
What's it got there, Brother Roger? It's not in the original
text. This was something that was put
in later. Okay. Waiting for the moving of the
waters. Now there was a legend. There was a legend and it's in
the rabbinical writings in the Mishnah and in the Talmud. There
was a legend that an angel would come down and his wings would
flop like that. The water would ripple. from
the wings of this cherubim that was coming down. And when he
would touch the waters, anybody that got in the water first would
be healed. So every time any wind came along
and ruffled up the waters, everybody would jump in. Wanting to be
healed this was the legend now the legend is put in the text
later This is not in the original But it is put in the text and
right here from the end of verse 3 down to verse number 4 is part
of this legend Okay, that's the legend For an angel of the Lord
went down at certain seasons Into the pool and stirred up
the water by his wings when he was landing, you know All right
And then first, after stirring up the water, the first one that
stepped in was made well from whatever diseases in which he
was afflicted. Now, that's the story, whether
it's the truth or not. Okay, that's the story. Verse
number five now. And a certain man was there.
We're talking about a certain man. This is a real story. Remember,
there was a certain rich man. Luke, the 16th chapter, that's
a real historical event. There was a certain, there was
a certain, there was a certain, a certain individual there who
had been 38 years in his sickness, 38 years sick, disabled, whatever. Most of these people had to be
carried there. This was a place of spiritual
cleansing. This is where they washed the
sheep, okay? And when Jesus saw him lying
there and knew that he had already been a long time in that condition,
he said to him, do you wish to become in good shape again? Do
you wish to be healed? Do you wish to be whole? And
the sick man answered him. Now he brings back up this legend
again. Brings up the legend, which we
don't know whether it was true or not, but it's a legend, okay? I have no man to put me into
the pool." Now, he must have been totally a quadriplegic.
He couldn't drag himself in there at all, okay? When the water
is stirred up, but while I am coming, another steps down before
me. And Jesus said to him, what? Now, what day of the week is
this? Huh? The Sabbath. Now, the Jews
forbid anybody to do any doctrine on the Sabbath. Did you know
that? Unless a person was absolutely dying, a doctor could not administer
anything to them. And Jesus told them, you know,
about that later on. He said, if a sheep falls in
a ditch or a cow falls in a ditch, you take him out. You don't let
him water there in this mud hole and die and drown. You pull him
out on the Sabbath. He said, all I'm trying to do
is, on the Sabbath, I'm trying to make these people whole to
prove that I am the Messiah and the King of Israel. Not only
the Messiah, but the Messiah King of Israel. Remember, he
came into Jerusalem and pronounced that he was King of Israel. And
Caiuthas is what it says here, and immediately, instantly. Arise, take up your pallet and
walk, and instantly, He didn't have to go to physical therapy.
No. He didn't have to take five drops
of this medicine and another medicine tomorrow and do this
and pretty soon you'll be better. Immediately a miracle. This is a great sign. Immediately
the man became well, became well and took up his palate. What's
a palate? stretcher that they brought him
in on he took the stretcher that he had and Kept on walking or
began to walk out of there Now what's going on here now? He's
working on the Sabbath he's carrying a pallet so now he's subject
to stoning Jesus is subject to Tony because all he is is the
doctor and he's applying his trade on the Sabbath and Now
this guy he tells this guy to break the Sabbath. He's a habitual
Sabbath breaker in me. I Okay, the habitual Sabbath
breaker. But what did Jesus say about
the Sabbath? The Sabbath was made for man. Man wasn't made
for the Sabbath. The Sabbath was made for your
health and your well-being. That was the Sabbath on that
day. Verse number 10. Now let's look
at the religious leaders, the religious hounds, the religious
dogs. false religious system, by the
way, the leaders of the false religious system, the rulers
of the false religious system that was now in place, that Jesus
was beginning to denounce. Therefore, the Jews kept on saying
to him, I do change these words a little bit, I'm reading from
the New American Standard, but I'm telling you what the Greek says, okay? Therefore, the Jews kept on saying
to him who was cured, they're interrogating him. They're interrogating
this man. It is the Sabbath, and it is
not permissible for you to carry your pallet. We're going to get
ready to stone you. Get out there. Get your clothes off, guys. Get
your rocks. We're going to kill him. We're
going to kill him now. We'll show him that these people
will kill him. And he said to them, he who made
me well was the one who told me he wanted to break the Sabbath.
He's the one. Not me. All I'm doing is following
orders, you know. Take up your pallet and walk.
And they kept on interrogating him. Who is this man who said
to you, take up your pallet and walk? Who gave you the command
to break the Sabbath? Verse number 13, but he said
but he was healed did not know he didn't know who Jesus was
he had been out in the in the Walk in the streets and and hear
about the Messiah and see him do anything before He met him
for the first time when he came in here and seen him before he
knew he was All he knew is that he had powers great powers and
he had those great powers and so he wasn't going to object
to anything that Jesus said he healed him and and he was well
and Just like new. For he did not know who it was,
for Jesus slipped away while there was a crowd in that place.
Jesus did that one thing to prove that he was the Messiah and the
healer of mankind. Jehovah-Rafikah. He fulfilled the title Jehovah-Rafikah,
the Lord, our healer. Now, everything that Jesus did
and has done takes the what we call the Jehovah titles and fulfills
them. Jehovah shamanah, what does that
mean? Jehovah shamanah, the Lord who hears and is there. All right,
did he hear the man's request? Did he hear the nobleman's request?
Verse number 14, and after Jesus found him in the temple and said
to him, behold, you have become well. Don't keep on sinning anymore
so that nothing worse may befall you. He already... What did he
do? He blame shifted, didn't he?
He blame shifted. He blame shifted. Go on and don't
sin anymore. Then the man went away and told
the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well. He's still
trying to get out of that stoning business. He's all still under
the penalty of death. And for this reason, the Jews
were persecuting Jesus, chasing after him. Now, the Jews should
have said, Hail, the Messiah King of Israel. But instead,
they didn't want to lose their religious power, and they didn't
want to lose their political power. They wanted to hold on
to their religion, even though now the Messiah King is here.
Without doubt, this is who he is. Because he was doing these
things on the Sabbath, And he answered them, my father is working
until now, and I myself am working. Okay? Remember the six days of creation?
Remember that? And Jesus' equality with God.
Now Jesus is going to make them mad another time. Now he's going
to tell them that he is God. And he's equal to God the Father.
And he is the creator. And he is the one that has the
creative power to heal sickness, and to produce food, and to turn
water into wine. He has power over the physical
universe. He has power over physical science,
and power over any disease, and power over death. For this calls,
therefore, the Jews were seeking all the more to what? To murder
him. As we're studying in the book
of Exodus, we've been studying the commandments of God. Now,
what did you find out in that commandments of God, Brother
Roger? What does it say in there? Thou shalt not what? Kill. But
what does it say in Hebrew? You shall not keep on killing
because they're murders. Thou shalt not steal is what
it says in the English translation. But what does it say in the Hebrew?
You shall not keep on stealing. It says, thou shall not what?
Covet. But it's what it says in Hebrew,
thou shall not keep on coveting. They were coveting their positions
and they were willing to commit murder. the commandment says thou shall
not murder but they had a whole lot more commandments than what
was in the Bible and they were keeping all those commandments
but they would not keeping God's commandments they were more trying to kill
him because he was not he was breaking the Sabbath but also
he was calling God his own father make himself equal with God now When you say that God is your
father, literally that means that you're the offspring of
God and so therefore you are God. As simple as that. Okay? That's the fulfillment of Genesis
3.15. At least one fulfillment of it. Genesis 3.15, the Lord Jehovah
God of heaven speaking to Satan himself. He said what? I will put active hatred between
you, your seed and her seed. Your seed and her seed. What is that? Who's his seed?
Who's Satan's seed? The Antichrist will be literally
a son, literal physical son of Satan through the womb of a woman,
which could be in the world today. Okay. And her seed, who is her
seed? Jesus Christ, because God would
impregnate her with his blood and his seed, and she would bring
forth a God-man. And this man would be mankind.
He would be Goel. The Hebrew word Goel means what?
Kinsman-redeemer. Think of that one. The whole
book of Ruth is about that right there. Goel. Goel. Kinsman-redeemer. making himself equal with God.
Verse number 19 now. And Jesus therefore answered
and was saying or kept on saying to them, Amen, Amen. That's what
he says in Greek. It's Amen. Where does Amen come
from? Where does that word come from?
Persian. Then where did it go? Hebrew. Then where did it go? Greek. Then where did it go? Latin. And then where did it go? Greek.
I mean English. It's come all the way down. What
does it mean? Truly, truly, or absolutely, I will stand behind
it. I will prop it up. It literally
means to prop up. That's what a man means. Truly,
truly, I will stand behind this. I say to you, the sun, the air,
the firstborn air, can do nothing of himself unless it is something
that he sees the father doing. For whatever the father does,
these things the son also does in like matter." You know, the
Jewish men never trust the women at all. Did you know that? They
never trusted women. They didn't. They didn't. Because they thought they were
fooling around all the time. And so a woman, when she had
a child, it better look like the daddy. It better look like the daddy.
You always know who the mother is, they said, but you don't
know who the daddy is. For sure. I've seen a few dads, you'd be
a blessing if they didn't look like them. Anyway, they always
wanted to do this, and the son had to act like the father. if
he's really the father. If he's really the father, then
he's going to look like him, he's going to talk like him, walk
like him, do something like him, okay? And he sees the father
doing whatsoever the father does, and these things the son also
does, and like matter in the same way. For the father loves
the son, and shows him all things that he himself is doing, and
greater works than these will he show him that you may marvel
Now what he's saying here is God the Father is empowering
me to do great wonders and miracles, and I'm gonna do more. And I'm
gonna continue to prove to you that I am the Messiah King of
Israel, whether you like it or not. Verse number 21, for just
as the Father raises the dead, now did Jesus already raise the
dead, basically? That boy that was sick was at
the point of death. He might have been in a coma,
do you know that? He might have been in a coma, what we call
a feverish coma, totally not conscious. Just as the father
raises the dead and gives them life, even so the son also gives
life to whom he wishes. For not even the father judges
anyone, but he has given all judgment to the son. He has given
all judgment to the son. All judgment. Why did the father
give all judgment to the son? Tell me why. Anybody over here know? You know
what that's why he did? Why did he give all judgment
to the son? Brother Mike? No, I don't know. Kathy, you
know why? How about it, Marilyn? Spit it
out. Why did he give the judgment to the son? We probably wanted
him to follow in his footsteps. Why did he give the judgment
to the son? Because Jesus was man and he
understood man in every way he was his equal judge Because he
was man God the Father only experienced Mankind through the Son now,
we don't have three gods now just remember that we got to
try you and God but God the Father experienced what is mankind only
through the Son same thing with the Spirit of God and Not even the father judges anyone,
but he has given all judgment to the son. Jesus is going to
be their judge. Now here, these people are on
the Sanhedrin court. By the way, who developed the
Sanhedrin court? Who was the man that instituted
the Sanhedrin court? Randy, you remember that? Jethro the Medianite, which was
a grandson of Abraham. He was a son of Keturah. He was the one that instituted
the Sanhedrin court. Remember when Moses was doing
all this judging out there in the wilderness and everything?
He said, boy, you're doing the wrong thing. Listen to your daddy.
Listen to your father-in-law. You go out and get 70 men that
are beyond reproach, that will not take a bribe. And this is
the origin of the Sanhedrin court. This is where it originated.
In order to that, Verse number 23, in order that all may honor
the son, even as they honor the father, he who does not honor
the son does not honor the father who sent him. You say you're
serving God, you go over there and you kiss those scrolls in
every synagogue and you sacrifice your lambs and you stand on the
corners and you act like you're very religious. But your people
are lost. If you don't honor me, you can't
serve God. You don't know God. If you don't
honor me, you don't know God. You don't know the Father, you
don't know God. Truly, truly, he says in verse number 24, and
what does that truly, truly mean? What does it say in Greek? Amen,
amen. Most affirmatively, most affirmatively,
I will stand by it, is what he says. I say to you, he who hears
my word and believes Him who sent me has eternal life. He has. Now, what is eternal
life? Sharon, do you know what eternal
life is? Eternal life. What does eternal mean? Forever. So what kind of life does that
mean? Forever life. Now, if you have eternal life,
Brother Bill, your preacher never told you this for 30 years. If
you have eternal life right now, is there any way you can lose
it? Isn't that wonderful? These guys had to go every year
to the temple on the day of Yom Kippur and offer sacrifices for
the whole year, the day of atonement. They went through all of these,
through the Hasidore, through the Passover,
through all of this, and every year they were going through
these feasts and asking forgiveness of sins, and every year they
had to come back. But Jesus said, I'm better than the Yom Kippur.
I'm better than all the feasts, because all the feasts pointed
to me. When the man that believes in me has everlasting life, you
don't have to attain it. They could go on the day of Yom
Kippur and all of their sins were forgiven, but before they
got out of there, they started racking them up again. But he
said, I'm going to tell you something, I'm greater than the priest on
the day of Yom Kippur. I will give you eternal life
always. You have it now. You don't have
any more sacrifice for sins. It does not come into judgment,
but has passed out of death unto life. And this is the third time
that this verse is repeated in the Gospel of John. This is the
third time. Remember what he said in John the third, in the
third chapter? All right, at the end of the
third chapter. 336, what does it say over there? Somebody read John 336 for me.
John 336. Brother Mike, you got John 336?
Run up, no, come right up here and read it real quick. I can't
hear you over there. John 3, 36. He who believes in
his Son has eternal life, but he who does not obey the Son
shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him. Abide.
The wrath of God abides on him. How long can you keep eternal
life? Forever. That's eternal life. If you have
eternal life, you have eternal life. Simple as that. Now, if
you're not saved, you have eternal death sentence on you right now.
because the wrath of God already abides on you now. Until you're
born again, you are under the wrath of God. All right. Then
he starts talking about the two resurrections. That's where we'll
start next week, in the two resurrections. Now, do you have a question?
Any of you have a question? I want to give you time. Bill,
you got a question? I do, but it ain't about this lesson. Can
I ask it? Well, has anybody got a question about this lesson? Randy Sharon. Okay. That was at that period of time
right there. And I'm not sure how the people
today are the Orthodox Jews that are Pharisees today. They're
the I'm not real familiar with that, but probably in the Jerusalem
Talmud, it would say that I imagine. Yes. Yes. Jesus never baptized anyone himself. He gave power to his church to
baptize them because it was his church that he was handing the
reins to. He was the king of Israel, but he gave authority
to the baptized to that church. The church was already in existence.
Okay, now I want to give you time. See, I quit five minutes
early. See, so you could have these questions. Roger. Okay,
Bill. What is it? Well, the Bible says
that the prophets were until John the Baptist. The law and
the prophets were until John. After that, the kingdom of God
is preached. Okay, now the kingdom of God is preached right here.
This is it. Because the king is here. The
king is here. Okay. Jesus said, I am the king. I am the creator of the universe.
All of this. That's it. Anything else? Or
I'll turn you loose on the world. Give it over here to Bill. Young
man, do you have anything, any question today? Don't want to
leave you out. Well, I learned something that
I wasn't aware of, is that I was thinking that John the Baptist
was the first to baptize, but Jews were baptizing long before
that. Abraham baptized. It goes all
the way back, probably all the way back to the garden where
they washed the sacrifice before they sacrificed it, because it
had to be clean. Probably all the way back to
the Garden of Eden, or well, right after the Garden of Eden.
OK. Anything else? David? No question? No? All right. Go out and do something,
Colonel. Let's shut these machines off.
Guys, if you haven't been to church this morning, it's a great
service. If you're going to Sunday school, you should go to church.
