You. Yeah. I you. you you Oh, it's so good to have you
here sharing this special day with us and your family. And
we have many guests here. We want to recognize you all
in just a few moments. And before we get started, a
very important thing. Someone would like to go home
in a little while. And in the ladies' restroom,
they left something very important that's going to allow them to
go home. So if that's you, we'll keep them up here for safekeeping.
You tell us what kind of a car it is and we'll give it to you.
Otherwise, we'll auction your car off later. And that'll be
fine. It'll be easy to know. It'll
be the one that's left in the parking lot. Well, God bless
you. Here's what we're going to do.
We're going to stand in just a moment. We're going to take
a hymn book. We're going to sing, I Heard the Bells on Christmas
Day. And while we're singing that,
We'd like to have the Christmas Volunteer Choir. What is a Christmas
Volunteer Choir? Well, that means that if you
ever sang anywhere, at any point, any time in your life, then you
are welcome to come and be in the Christmas Choir. We're going
to sing one song. It's just the chorus. Just the
chorus. And you will sing right along.
You don't have to worry about having practice or anything like
that. All you're singing is the chorus, The Birthday of the King,
and it's right in the hymn book. You'll be able to follow right
along. And even if it's the first time you've ever sung that song,
it's an easy song to sing. You can go home saying, I sang
in the choir at Volusia County Baptist Church. So when we start
to sing, the folks who normally are in the choir are going to
come up and lead the way. You don't have to sit in any
particular place. It'll be sprinkled. Guys, girls,
it'll be OK. Teenagers, moms, dads, grandparents
alike. And so you come and be with us,
and we'll have you up here just for a little while, and then
we'll have you go back down to your seats after we sing. So
let's all stand together. Brother Dave's going to come
lead us. 267. 267, you're going to hear him go. As the choir comes on. I heard the bells on Christmas
day ring loud and sweet the words we bring of peace on earth and
good to men. On that fourth verse. Then filled
the bells for loud and deep All right, there's one more verse.
Now, there's some of you just lagging behind, and this might
be your last opportunity to sing at Volusia County Baptist Church.
It might be your visiting time, and you come and join up there
with us. Plenty of room for everyone as we sing the last verse. Come
on. Come on. Thank you. You may be seated. Amen. God bless you. You may be seated. Thank you so very much. Well, I hope you received a bulletin
on the way in, and printed in the bulletin is our Scripture
reading, and we can't read too much of the Word of God. We'll
be sharing some of this later on in the service, but if you'd
look, please, at Luke chapter 2, and if you'll read aloud with
us on the bold print, and we'll read this together. I'll begin
in verse number 8. And there were in the same country
shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock
by night. And lo, the angel of the Lord
came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about
them, and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them,
Fear not, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy,
which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day
in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And
this shall be a sign unto you. You shall find the babe wrapped
in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there
was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising
God and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth
peace, goodwill toward men. What a wonderful message for
our hearts today, and I'm so glad to have you here in God's
house. A joy to serve the Lord together. A lot of folks are just kind
of taking it easy today, but let me remind you whose birthday
it is we're celebrating. This is Jesus' birthday. And
although we don't know that it was exactly December the 25th,
and we'll never know that, it's probably good that we don't know
that. because we would perhaps worship the day instead of worshiping
the Savior, Jesus Christ. And so we do set aside a day
for us to worship our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, and that
is today. And Brother Randy Taylor, would
you come please, sir? I'd like you to lead us in prayer
this morning. And we have many folks that are
here. You just don't know on a Christmas
Day service, you just don't know how many folks are actually going
to make the extra effort that a lot of folks, you understand
a lot of churches are not having services today. And we're not
doing this to prove anything. We're not doing this to try to
say that we're spiritual or anything like that. But it just seemed
appropriate that on Jesus' birthday that we don't cancel service
to worship Him. It just seemed a good thing,
an appropriate thing, and I'm glad that you agree with that,
and you being here is the reason. Thank you so very much. Brother
Randy, God bless you, sir. At least send prayer if you would.
Let's pray. Our dear Lord Jesus, thank you. You've been so good to all of
us here. That's the reason we come. And
now, Lord Jesus, thank you for the time we get to celebrate,
Lord, your coming and the reason for your coming. Lord, thank
you to God. For the ones here, they could
have not come, or they could have gone somewhere else. Well,
Lord, thank you. Thank God you brought them here.
And now, Lord, I know a pastor has a message that would, Lord,
you would want taught. Lord, I pray our hearts would
be ready to receive this message. Lord, may we leave here, oh,
Lord Jesus, more like you than we came. And Jesus, tell more
people about you. Now, Jesus, thank you for you
and the songs that will be sung and the way they're sung and
the way you're uplifted here. We sure love you, Jesus. Thank
you for loving us. In your name we pray. Amen. Well, we're blessed to have instruments
praising the Lord. And it's wonderful to have Miki
Novakovich back in town. And she's busy teaching. And the Lord's using her in a
mighty way. And we're so thankful for what God's doing through
her. She's way over here in the orchestra. And so we're going
to use our cameras and things to put her up on the screen so
that you can see her as she plays beautiful Christmas music. God
bless you. You You you You You So, Can you just give us one more
chorus? Just go ahead and rest. Go ahead
and rest. Could you just go ahead and give us one more chorus?
That's the beauty of not recorded music. Just maybe fall on your
knees over here, anywhere you want. Anywhere you want to play,
Mickey. That'd be just great. do do Well, we're going to do something
that you may not have ever done in church before. I don't know.
But this is a special day. This is a special day. And so
what I'd like to do is, let's sing. We're about to sing something
about the birthday of the King. Let's sing Happy Birthday, Dear
Jesus. Just if you would, we'll have
the instruments drop out. There's our note. Ready? Here
we go. Just our voices. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday, dear Jesus. Happy birthday to you. We don't normally sing that as
a Christmas song, but that's very fitting today. And maybe
this might be something you might want to do as a family. I don't
know. The Birthday of the King. In the little village of Bethlehem
There lay a child one day And the sky was bright with a holy
light For the place where Jesus lay Alleluia! Oh, how the angels sang, Alleluia! How it rang! And the sky was bright with a
holy light. T'was the birthday of the King. T'was a long, But oh, how much
God gave to us that day. From a manger bed, what a kindness
lent. What a perfect holy way. Alleluia, how the angels sang. Alleluia, how it rang. And the sky was bright with the
holy light. "'Twas the birthday of the King."
We're here to celebrate His birthday and to give Him praise, give
Him the glory due unto His name. Choir, thank you so much for
letting me sing with you all. What a great job! What a beautiful-looking
choir! Amen! We ought to have about...
Yes! Some of you look so good up here.
You'd look good up here every Sunday. You really would. You
really would. God bless you. You may be seated.
Thank you so much. We have some guests in there. And so we'd like to recognize
every person, whether you're in the choir loft or out here. And if we could take a few moments. And family, if you would like
to please introduce, if you have some family members as guests,
We'd love to have you introduce them. I know you're proud to
have them here with you. So we'll start over here on your
right, over here. Anybody in these two sections,
if you'd just stand and introduce your guest for us. Right back
there, yes. They don't have to stand, but you can stand for
them. Amen! There is an award for the most
guests, I think. Right here. Hey, Gabriel. Oh, bless your heart, buddy.
All right. Yes, right here. All the way from Maine. God bless
you. Amen. Yes, Don. from Jacksonville. God bless
you all. Thank you for coming. Thank you. Yes. Wonderful. From Daytona. Good to be with grandparents.
Amen. Amen. Anyone else over here I missed
in these two sections? Okay. All right. How about in
the middle sections right here? Right here in the middle. Yes,
stand up there if you would. They don't have to stand. Wonderful. Good to have you all
here. Amen. Anyone else I missed over
here in these center sections? Yes, Nathan. Amen. Wonderful. So good. You
filled your pew. God bless your hearts. So good
to have you all here. Thank you for coming. Who else?
Anyone else here in the center sections? All right, how about
over here on these two sections over here? Stand up there if
you would, by the way. Amen. Wonderful. Congratulations,
you two. God bless you. Amen. Yes. From South Carolina, daughter
and grandson, so good to have you all here. Amen. Yes. Amen. So good to have you all
here. Thank you all for coming today.
God bless you. Anyone I missed anywhere? Anyone
I missed anywhere? I'm looking. I'm looking. Okay.
All right. Well, we're so glad to have you
here and want to remind you that on Saturday night, that's of
course New Year's Eve, we're having a special Christian film.
And we do trust that you could come. It's not a watch night
service per se. We'll meet at 6.30 and we'll
have some refreshments available. We'll have the film there in
the activities building. And you'll be able to have actually
popcorn during the movie. And we'll have some hot dogs
and things available if you want. And we'll just have a good time
of fellowship. And miracles from heaven. is the name of the movie,
Miracles from Heaven. And some of you have seen that
movie, and so you're going to be repaired. Ladies, you're going
to have some tissues in your purse, ready to go. And it's
not a chick flick, but it will strum your heart strings like
the heart. and the harp that we had played, and that'll be
a great thing. And then on Sunday, January 1st,
please, please be in church the first day of the year. I can't
imagine starting the year off in a better way than to be in
God's house and saying, Lord, I'm in church reporting for duty,
you know, and start it off the right way. And we'll have calendars
for the year available. That'll be a vision day. Vision
day. Looking at what God has in store
for us. We'll be revealing the theme for the year. And you'll
be able to see all the big days throughout the church year. We
won't go over everything, but you'll be able to have that available.
And here's what we'll do. The calendar costs $10, but I
feel very badly about asking you to pay for the whole calendar. I wish that we could just give
everyone a calendar, but you can imagine, you know, if we
have, oh, I don't know, Do the math. If we had 400 people here
and gave them all calendars, that would be quite an investment. So if you could give even $5
towards a calendar. Now, you may spend everything
that you have here in the Christmas time, and you'd say, hey, I don't
have anything. I don't have a dime. Guess what?
We'll let you have one on installments. No, I'm teasing. We'll let you
have one. You need to have one of these
up on your refrigerator, in your kitchen, or somewhere. You'll
really like it. It's full color, professionally
done, and full size, and all that kind of thing. So we want
you to have this to kind of keep up with what's going on. Pastor
Aaron came up with an idea of how you can get it for free.
He said that if you bring a guest next Sunday, Just bring the guest's
visitor card to the table and you'll get a calendar for free.
That means he'll pay for your half. He's not here. But seriously, we'll give it
to you for free. We'll give it to you for free. And you give
us a visitor card of someone that you invited, a neighbor,
a guest. You might tell them, what a way to have a fresh start.
Did anybody get a card in Orange City? If you were in Orange City,
you were supposed to get a card from the church. Did anybody
get a card? Oh, yeah, lots of hands, okay.
And we just sent it out letting folks know, reminding them that
we're here. And what a good opportunity to have a fresh start and to
get in church on January 1st. So anyway, that's a wonderful
thing. A lot of other announcements. I'm going to just belay all those.
But those two, Saturday night, 6.30 and then also, did it say
6.30 or 7 o'clock on the screen? 6.30. Okay, good. So 6.30 and then you'll be out
of here in good time before the crazies get driving. You'll get
home before everything gets kind of nasty outside, God willing. You may not need your hymn book
for these Christmas carols. Brother Dave's going to come
and lead us in quite a few Christmas carols. As he leads us in the
carols, the choir may go down. You can go back down to your
seats, and you won't need a hymn book. Choir, just keep singing
as you're walking, okay? And we'll start off by singing,
Joy to the world, the Lord is come. It's page 270, but let's
all stand together, and we'll just sing the first verse of
these carols. The First Noel. From a thirst no man can quench,

a visitor, normally I don't encourage visitors to take part in the

you from worshiping the Lord here. Okay? So you're allowed. We're not asking you to, but
you're allowed to take part in this time of worship. Let's bow
in prayer. Heavenly Father, thank you so

this cold, dark, sinful world. and you in your holiness and

I pray now that you'll bless both the gifts and the givers.

And then we'll ask all the boys and girls, after all that, to
come down front if you want. You can have a front seat. And
so I'll call you all down and ask you to take part in that.
Listen as the ensemble sings about our Savior, Jesus Christ.
It's called this child, this child, separate and apart, different,
God in the flesh, to die in our place so that we could be in
heaven with the Lord. God bless you. you This child sent from heaven,

great chorus we love to sing here. It's called Immanuel. His
name is called Immanuel. What's that mean? Tell me. God
with us. He's God with us. Sing it just
from your seats there, then we'll stand. Here we go now. Sing it
together from your hearts. Immanuel, Immanuel His name is
called Immanuel God with us, revealed in us,
His name is called Eve. Okay, now. You probably don't
need the words. It's a simple chorus. This time
when we stand, I want you to envision and imagine yourself
that you're there in Bethlehem. You got the word from the angel,
and you have come as a shepherd, and you're standing there, and
you're looking at the little Christ child, and you're singing
to yourself this song, Emmanuel. His name is called Emmanuel,
God with us, the prophesied one. He's here, and I get to see him. Let's stand together. Sing as
a worship unto the Lord now, not as a chorus for our church.
A worship unto him. Here we go. Emmanuel, Emmanuel
His name is called Emmanuel God with us, revealed in us,
His name is called Emmanuel. All right. Now, for just a moment,
don't lose that whole feeling, okay? But if you would, be friendly
one with another. I'm going to ask at this time,
moms, dads, if you're okay with your children coming on down
front, while we're shaking hands, they can slip on down. They can
stay with you if you want, or they can come down here. As we
shake hands, fellowship one with another. Go ahead, and mom, dad,

if you want to come with your child. Yeah. Emmanuel, Emmanuel His name is

Emmanuel. Well, God bless you. You may
be seated. All right. As a church family, we're gathered
together to worship the Lord. As a church family, we're setting
aside this special time, and I did not try to get you and
your family here under false pretenses, and we're not here
to pound anybody on the head, nothing like that. We're here
to point people to Jesus Christ. He is the Savior. He is the only
way to heaven. If there was, think about this,
because you know the redemption story, because you know of the
great suffering that he went through, why would God have allowed
Jesus to go through all of that if there was any other way for
someone to go to heaven? He said, Lord, if it would be
possible, let this cup pass from me. Jesus himself, he said, if
there's any other way, any other way, but there was no other way. That's why he came to die in
our place. He came as a babe, and he grew
as a youngster like these boys and girls right here. Jesus was
your age one day. He was, like this little boy
right here. Can you stand by me? Lookie here. Could you imagine that Jesus,
Was this size right here? He was a little boy. He played. He was a teenager. You did a
very good job helping me. Somebody took your seat. So boys and girls, what we're
going to do is this. For every boy and girl, by the
way, we have a special gift for you. And on your way out, we
want you to have that. And so thank you for coming. But because you're here and down
front and things, you're going to have a close-up view. As we
read the Christmas story, I invite you to turn with me. The first
passage will be Luke chapter 2. And as we read this, the boys
and girls will see it come to life before their eyes. Luke chapter 2, the Bible says,
And it came to pass in those days that there went out a decree
from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed. And
this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria. And all went to be taxed, everyone
into his own city. And Joseph also went up from
Galilee out of the city of Nazareth into Judea under the city of
David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and
lineage of David, to be taxed with Mary, his espoused wife,
being great with child. And so it was that while they
were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.
And she brought forth her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling
clothes, and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for
them in the inn. And there were in the same country
shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock
by night. And lo, the angel of the Lord
came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about
them, and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them,
Fear not, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy,
which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day
in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And
this shall be a sign unto you, he shall find the babe wrapped
in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there
was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising
God and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth
peace, goodwill toward men. And it came to pass, as the angels
were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one
to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this
thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known
unto us.' And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph,
and the babe lying in a manger. And when they had seen it, they
made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning
this child. And all they that heard it wondered at those things
which were told them by the shepherds. But Mary kept all these things
and pondered them in her heart. And the shepherds returned, glorifying
and praising God for all the things that they had heard and
seen as it was told unto them." Boys and girls, this really happened. This really took place. There
was a real man named Joseph, and that man named Joseph, he
fell in love with a wonderful young lady. named Mary. He asked
Mary to be his bride. But you see, God asked Mary to
bear the Christ child. And before they were married,
she was with child. And she was afraid because she
and Joseph had not been married yet. And God told Joseph, don't
worry. This child is for me. This is
the Messiah. This is the promised one. He
has come to be the Savior of mankind." So Joseph protected
and took care of Mary, and the little Christ child grew. And sometime later, the Bible
tells us in Matthew, the Bible says that there were some wise
men that came. In Matthew 2, verse 1, Now when
Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the
king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,
saying, Where is he that is born, king of the Jews? For we have
seen his star in the east and are come to worship him. When
Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and
all Jerusalem with him. And when he had gathered all
the chief priests and scribes, the people together, he demanded
of them where Christ should be born. And they said unto him,
In Bethlehem of Judea, for thus it is written by the prophet,
And thou, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, art not the least among
the princes of Judah? For out of thee shall come a
governor that shall rule my people Israel. Then Herod, when he had
privilege, called the wise men, inquired of them diligently what
time the star appeared. And he said unto them, and he
sent them to Bethlehem and said, Go and search diligently for
the young child. And when ye have found him, bring
me word again that I may also come and worship him also. When
they had heard the king, they departed. And, lo, the star which
they saw in the east went before them till it came and stood over
the place where the young child was. And when they saw the star,
They rejoiced with exceeding great joy. And when they were
coming to the house, they saw the young child with Mary his
mother and fell down and worshiped him. And when they had opened
their treasures, they presented unto him gifts, gold and frankincense
and myrrh." Boys and girls, do you know why they presented unto
him gold and frankincense and myrrh? See, gold was very valuable. Gold was a gift for a king. And
it was as if they were saying, yes, we recognize that he, Jesus,
is king. He's just a child, but he's the
king. The king of kings and lord of
lords. And his frankincense, that was a very costly fragrance. And it spoke of his priesthood,
that he was our go-between, between us and God. And then myrrh. Myrrh was an advance. It was a preview of the day that
he would die, that he would die on the cross for my sins and
for yours and the sins of the whole world. Gold and frankincense
and myrrh. Do you smell something? Do you
smell like something? Don't worry. Nothing's burning. This shouldn't
be. But they're burning that incense so that you can kind
of smell what it was like in that day. Boys and girls, look
up there. Now, this is just us trying to
remember in a visible way what took place on that night. The
shepherds did come, and they did say, you'll never believe
what I saw. I saw angels, and they told me
about a babe in a manger. And then we went, and sure enough,
the baby was there just like he said. And the wise men, They
traveled hundreds of miles because they knew that something special
had happened. Would you drop the lights just
a little bit and let's sing one more time. Silent night, holy
night, all is calm, all is bright. Let's sing it together. Here
we go. Silent night, holy night. O'er the land of the free and
the home of the brave? will be dismissed in just a moment,
in just a moment, before we change anything or do anything different.
You know the phrase, wise men still seek Him? The little voice
of a babe will one day be the voice of many waters, the voice
of thundering power, the voice of sovereign authority of the
Almighty God. The first time He came, He was
laid in a manger. The next time he comes, he's
sitting on his throne, the throne of David. He's going to rule
and he's going to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. And
everything that this book talks about is going to take place.
You say, well, how do you know that? There are so many prophecies
that have to be fulfilled that today, We can see exactly, yes,
people are crying out for this and crying out for that. They're
ready. The stage is all set. And today, just perhaps, God
is knocking on your heart's door. And He's doing it with politeness
and courtesy and kindness and love. And it's not because you
have to. It's because you would want to
open your heart to the Lord Jesus Christ. He'll forgive your sin. He'll save your soul. He'll give
you purpose in life and a home in heaven. We have to repent
of our sin. That's a change of our mind about
our ways. God, I'm wrong. You're right. And I'm sorry for my sin. And
God, if you'll forgive me, take me to heaven, I'm trusting you
to be my Savior. You might be six years old. You
might be 67 years old. I don't know. But what better
day to invite Jesus Christ into your life and receive the gift
of salvation than Christmas Day? We're not going to have an altar
call where you come forward. I'm not going to ask you to walk
the aisle and come down here. You might be a guest. and you
might sense something very real is happening in your heart and
life, why not invite Jesus to be your Savior? The Bible says,
but as many as received him to them gave you power to become
the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name. What
you hear now is the voice of a baby, but what you hear inside
may be the voice of Almighty God. Would you bow your heads
with me, please? Your heads are bowed, your eyes
are closed, no one looking. I wonder if you would say, Brother
Mark, I don't know what to do. I sense that God is drawing me
to himself, but I don't know what to do to receive that gift
of salvation. Would you let me help you? If
you will pray a prayer from your heart, you can whisper it right
there where you're at. With the mouth, confession is
made into salvation, the Bible says. Why not receive him today
as your Savior? Pray something like this, but
mean it from your heart, would you? Dear Lord Jesus, just whisper
it to the Lord right now. Dear Lord Jesus, I believe you
died on the cross for me. I believe you rose again from
the dead, like the Bible says. I'm a sinner, but I ask you to
forgive me of all my sins. I'm asking you to be my Lord
and my Savior. Come in now into my heart and
my life. Save my soul. I'm trusting you,
Lord Jesus, to take me to heaven. Thank you for saving me. Our heads are bowed and our eyes
are closed. I promise I will not point you out, embarrass
you. If I know your name, I will not call it. I won't ask you
to come forward. We're going to be dismissed in
just a moment. But if you would say with our heads bowed and
our eyes closed, Brother Mark, I asked Jesus to save me just
then and I meant it from my heart. Would you slip your hand up and
take it right back down just so I can rejoice with you? Just
slip it up and take it right back down. Would you please?
If God dealt with your heart, God bless you. Yes, ma'am. I
see that in your hand. Who else? Yes, I prayed that
prayer and asked Jesus to save me just then. Just slip it up.
I want to rejoice with you. I praise God. Amen. Amen. Amen. God bless you. I see those
hands. Now, Lord, we're here to worship
you. May this be an hour that changes
our life. Thank you, Lord, for the image
that you gave to us in your precious word. Now, Lord, we're careful
in having people act this out, but, Lord, I don't think that
you're upset at that. I think you're pleased. because
we want people to get the picture and image in their heart and
mind of Jesus Christ. Lord, thank you for this time
that we've been together. Help us to praise you and worship
you, and thank you for giving us a day that we can do that.
in Jesus precious name. Amen. Let me look up this way. I'm going to ask if we can, so
we avoid the stampede, boys and girls, if you all will go back
to your parents now so that way they can find you, okay? And moms and dads, make sure
that on the way out that they get that gift bag. Do we have
those gift bags? Got them? Okay, all right. They're
at the exits, and we want you to have that. There's some candy
and things in there, and we want you to have that. I told you
one hour. It has been one hour. Let's stand
together, please. Thank you for entrusting your
family time with us here on Christmas Day. Good to see some folks I
haven't seen in a while. Good to see you, Chad. God bless
you, buddy. God bless y'all. Shake hands
and greet one another on your way out. God bless you and Merry
Christmas and a Happy New Year. God bless you.
