Luke 6 we're gonna be starting 27 today. Um, if you remember the past couple weeks we've been looking over 17 through 26 where it's just a Jesus he had came down well, let's just read here in 17 it says and and he came down with them and stood in the plain of the company of disciples and a great multitude of people of all Judea and Jerusalem from the seacoast of Tyre and Sidon which Came to hear him and be healed of their diseases
So we all these people from all these different nations came from afar because they knew that Jesus was going to be there and they needed to be healed from him. And as we see through here, he did, he actually healed them all, as I said, in verse number 18, it says, they were vexed with unclean spirits, and they were healed. Verse 19, and a whole multitude sought to touch him, for there went virtue out of him, and he healed them all, right, and he started giving them some Words of wisdom here, he says in verse number 20, blessed be ye poor for years is the kingdom of God. Blessed be your hunger now for you shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now for you shall laugh. Blessed are ye when men shall have or shall hate you. And when they shall separate you from their company and shall reproach you and cast you out, cast out your name as evil for the son of man's sake, right?
We had talked about how it's blessed is those that are hungry for the Lord and hungry for the Lord's will and are hungry and desire to know him more. And then it says kind of the opposite here. And verse 24 it says but woe to them that are rich for you have received your consolation These that don't think they need the lord or think don't think they have it all under control It's all in their hands, but it's definitely not And uh verse number 27 is where we pick up now He says but I say unto you which hear, that's gonna be key to this because those of you which hear, right, there's a lot of people that they hear but they don't listen, amen. And so these are the ones that hear and will apply what he is saying.
He says, by saying to you which hear, love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you. And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek, offer also the other. and him that taketh away thy cloak forbid not to take thy coat also. Amen. And so we have some things here that go again, against what is natural to us because if somebody, let me see, if somebody is our enemy, how do we treat them? How does the world tell us to treat them? Right. We're to be angry with them. We are to hate them. We are to despise them. We are to anything that we can do against them. That's what we are supposed to do. That's what the world tells us to do.
But Jesus says, I say unto you which hear, love your enemies, and do good to them which hate you. Bless them that curse you. If somebody cusses you out, what is your natural reaction to do? I hope not. Man, y'all are some horrible Christians. No, I pray for them. To be offended, right? But to retaliate in some form. Hopefully y'all ain't out there cussing. I mean, just because the word curse is in this, don't mean that's what we're doing here. It says, but bless them that curse you. Pray for them, which despitefully use you. Right? If anything, we're praying that, God, you get them back. They used me. They took this from me. I gave them everything. And they did this. God, I need you to avenge me. Or we try to do it ourself, right? But Christ teaches us the opposite. In Luke 627, he says, I say unto you which hear, love your enemies. We're all here because we're here to listen, right? We're here to hear, amen? Right? But I say unto you which hear, love your enemies. Do good to them which hate you. Right? This love is not an emotional love. It's intentional obedience to God, amen? It's not so much that you love your enemies, it's that you love God so much that your retaliation It doesn't mean as much, amen?
And go with me to 1 Samuel 24 here. 1 Samuel 24. 1 Samuel chapter 24. Joshua judges Ruth first Samuel Chapter 24 verse number four is where we're gonna pick up at yeah. Oh Actually, let's go, let's just start in verse one. So then it came to pass when Saul was returned from following the Philistines, and it was told him, saying, Behold, David is in the wilderness of Engedi. Okay, yeah, Engedi.
So notice at this point, David was being praised of the people for what he was doing Saul was king Saul was mad because people were praising Daniel and not our date David and not him and so he wanted to kill David right because David's the one that's getting all the glory that he wanted and But here Saul was told where David was and in verse 2 it says, Then Saul took three thousand chosen men out of Israel and went to seek David and his men upon the rocks of the wild goats. And he came down from the sheep coats, by the way, There was a cave Saul went in to cover his feet and David and his men Remained in the sides of the cave
and the men of David said unto him behold the day of the Lord is unto thee Behold, I will deliver thine enemy into thine hand that thou mayest do to him as it shall seem good unto thee right David he's in this cave Saul comes in That's that's David's enemy, isn't it? The man literally has thousands of people with him right now looking to kill him, right?
Verse four, or verse five says, and it came to pass afterward that David's heart smote him. because he had cut off, or verse four, sorry. And the man of David said unto him, behold, the day which the Lord said unto thee, behold, I will deliver thine enemy into thine hand, as he is now, says that thou mayest do with him as it shall seem good unto thee. Then David arose and cut off the skirt of Saul's robe privily. And it came to pass afterward that David's heart smote him because he had cut off Saul's skirt. cut off a piece of his clothing, didn't kill him, didn't harm him, didn't touch him. As a matter of fact, Saul didn't even know that he did this. But the fact that he did, it bothered him.
In verse number six, it says, And he said unto his men, The Lord forbid that I should do this thing unto my master. Who's the master here? No. Saul is, right? Saul is David's master in this kingdom. And the Lord had delivered Saul into David's hand. David could have killed Saul. David instead cut off a piece of his clothing, but it also bothered David that he had even just done that.
In verse number seven here, it says, and said, and David said to his servants with these words and suffered them, or verse six, sorry, and he said unto the men, the Lord hath forbid that I should do this thing unto my master, the Lord's anointed, right? Because the Lord put Saul in that position, amen? Says to stretch forth mine hand against him seeing he is the anointed of the Lord so David stayed his servants with these words and suffered them not to rise against the words and suffered them not to rise against Saul and But Saul rose up out of the cave and went on his way right Didn't harm Saul but the fact that David loved his enemy by refusing to avenge himself, right?
He's being hunted down to the point that he's hiding in a cave. He's hiding in a cave from the man who's trying to kill him. The man who's trying to kill him comes in this cave, doesn't even know that David's there. David has a sword. to where he could kill him. But instead, he just cuts off his clothes. And then as we know, later on, he ends up revealing it to Saul. He comes out of the cave. He's like, Saul, Saul. He's like, he's like, I do thee no harm. He's like, I could have killed you. He's like, look, here's a piece of your clothing. I could have killed you. But the Lord told me not to.
and Saul forgave him, but we also know that God also handled that situation as well later on by removing Saul from the kingdom.
In Romans 12, 20, it says, therefore, if thine enemy hunger, feed him. If he thirst, give him drink. Proverbs 20, 22 says, say thou not, I will recompense evil, but wait on the Lord, and he shall save thee. Amen. It's not ours, to inflict this judgment on people to give people what they deserve. Amen. Our job is to give them the same grace that God gave us in forgiveness and long suffering and mercy and grace. It's not about being hurt in avenging our pride. It's about trusting the Lord. and that he will handle this situation, amen?
Our pride tells us that we need to do something about it. Our pride tells us that we need to get them back, right? But our job is to show the love of God. He says, I say unto you which hear, right? Love your enemies and do good to them which hate you. Do you trust him? Do you trust the Lord? Do you trust the Lord enough to fill your heart with love and to bless those that hate you? Yes. That's the real question. Are you able to take what God says and apply it to your life? Because it's great to say it, but it's another thing to apply it when put in them situations that we have to be long suffering, we have to be patient, we have to trust the Lord enough that these things don't anger us, that they don't bother us, that they don't get reactions from us.
And this kind of love says, I will not let someone else's sin determine my obedience to Christ. Amen. Because he's put a calling on our life to love others as he has loved us. Think about if God got offended every time we sinned. He does get offended. But think about if he gave us what we deserved every time we sinned. What's the wages of sin? Amen. Amen. Y'all would have been dead 1,000 times this morning. But praise God for his mercy. Amen.
Loving your enemy means not responding when being provoked. It means having integrity when you are mistreated and doing right even when you're wrong. Refusing to revenge is an act of trust. Trust that God does see and that he knows and that he's the one that will judge correctly. Amen? Amen.
All right, in Luke 6, 28, he also says, bless them that curse you. And to bless, this is to bless them. This is refusing retaliation, but instead, blessing them, amen? Instead of giving them what you think they deserve, it is giving them what Christ gave you. Let's go to 1 Peter 2. These are hard ones because these are all ones that were like, yes, yes, I agree. Amen. But then we leave here today and God puts us in these situations. Amen. to see how much you actually do mean that. Because that's the worst, y'all, is when you, man, when God makes you practice what you preach. Those are rough sometimes. But they're real lessons. They're there for your growth.
1 Peter chapter 2, verse number 23, or hold on, 21. Let's go 19, actually. 17. Honor all men, love the brother, fear God, honor the king. Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward, for this is thankworthy. If a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully, for what glory is it if when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently. But if, when ye do well and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God. For even here unto where ye called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example. Amen?
Christ is our example. I mean, yes, of course, Christ is God, Lord, King of kings, Lord of lords, but at the same time, he came as a servant to be our example of what we should be. Amen?
verse 22 who did no sin neither was guile found in his mouth who when he was reviled reviled not again this this reviled this is kind of like a a verbal abuse when he is attacked right he didn't attack back amen he reviled not again when he suffered he threatened not but committed himself to him that judges righteously. Amen. His trust was in God, that God would work things out, that God would handle this situation. Amen. It wasn't in what he could do. I mean, think about what Christ could have done to the people that was beating him and talking bad to him. He is the word of God. Amen. He could have said, and they just disappeared, right? Or turned into flames, or I mean, whatever he wanted, whatever he desired could have happened. But for us, he suffered, amen? He said he committed himself to him that judgeth righteously.
In Matthew 5, 44, he said, by saying to you, this is Jesus saying this also, by saying to you, love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you. Who's he saying this to? His enemies, the very ones that hung him on, nailed him to a cross, the very ones that beat him, the very ones that spit in his face and mocked him and whipped him and planted a crown of thorns in his head. And he showed love to them, didn't he?
Proverbs 15 one says, a soft answer turns away wrath, but grievous words stir up anger. Blessing those who curse you means guarding your tongue and your attitude, right? That's what this, What? How do you say it? Rival rebel revile. Yes, revile who when he was reviled, reviled not again, right? That's what that is, is being able to hold your tongue, control your attitude, and especially when you have the right to defend yourself, right? It's refusing to speak negatively even when others speak falsely, right? And whenever it's not in your favor and you know it's not right, right?
Before responding, we have to ask, will these words reflect Christ or protect my ego? Is my pride worth tarnishing the name of Christ? Is me defending myself worth these people who see this, or even the one doing it, to know that I don't really believe or really hold to what I say I do? Amen? I mean, there's plenty of enemies that have been won over by the word of God by seeing it in these people's life. I mean, we look at Joseph, we look at David. I mean, we see these men that were, they were involved in battles and things, but they knew that their enemies knew that the Lord was with them. And that's why they chose peace with these people was because they knew that they were the anointed of God.
Will my words reflect Christ or protect my pride? That's key.
Back to Luke 6, he tells us to pray for those who wrong us. He says, bless them that curse you and pray for them which despitefully use you. It's a 628, still the same verse, it's just the next part of it. The first one, we just went over, bless them that curse you. Now we're on the second part, it says, and pray for them which is spitefully used in Luke 628.
In this prayer, It is powerful because this prayer, it is for them, but it's also for you, right? This prayer is to bring peace in you, is to bring that cleansing in you and to remove that anger and that bitterness and that hatred that you should have, the flesh wants to have and hang on to and to push out. But if you take time, you can't sincerely pray for somebody that you hate, or even that you're angry at, right? You have to have that peace first. You have to be right with God first before you can pray to God for them.
Even if you were just in the midst of the anger, you know you should pray, so you pray, but it don't come out right. It comes out all anger, and you know it, and you know you didn't mean a word of that prayer. And God gets on you right then and there. And you're like, God, forgive me. Please help them. Please help them and help me. Help even if you don't know how to pray for them. Pray that God does whatever he needs to do and then pray that he does it in you also. Amen.
If you don't know how to pray for your enemy, if you don't know how to pray for them that are despitefully using you, Pray that God does in you what he wants you to do in them. I don't know what it is, Lord, but pray that you give me that same thing so that I don't do the same thing to other people. Amen?
Let's go to Acts chapter 7.
But prayer removes this bitterness from your heart. And it places the judgment that we are looking for in God's hands, right? It takes you from being God and it puts God on the throne to where we can allow him to be judged. And by doing that, we don't have this bitterness. We don't have this anger. Yeah. Yeah, you're right.
Acts chapter seven, verse number 54. So when they heard those things, they were cut to the heart, right? This is, let me see if I can recap it all real quick. Stephen's preaching basically, right? And it bothered a lot of people. And because he was preaching to these people that killed Jesus. And he tells them that they are the ones that did this. In verse number 44, or 54, it says, and when they heard these things, they were cut to the heart and they gnashed at him with their teeth.
But being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up steadfastly to heaven and saw the glory of God and Jesus standing on the right hand of God.
Let me go back up real quick. Verse 54 here, when they heard these things, they were cut to the heart. What did they hear that they were offended by? The what? His preaching, but what did his preaching reveal? It revealed their sin, right? And when God speaks to us and he reveals our sin, we have two options at that point. We get offended and we defend our sin, right? Or we repent of our sin. That's the only two options. You accept that you were wrong and you ask God for forgiveness or you reject God. And here we see they rejected him because verse 55 says, but he being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up steadfastly to heaven and saw the glory of God and Jesus standing on the right hand of God and said, behold, I see the heavens open and the son of man standing on the right hand of God.
They didn't like to hear that. Then they cried out with a loud voice and stopped their ears and ran upon him with one accord. They rejected God at that point. And cast him out of the city and stoned him. And the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man's feet whose name was Saul. And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. And he kneeled down and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.
He died, right? But what did he do as he was dying? He prayed for them, right? He prayed for them. He didn't pray, God, help me. God, kill all of them right now. God, may they start stoning each other instead of me. Right? He prayed for them. Lord, hold this not to their charge and Job, We know that Job, I mean, he dealt with everything, and all of his friends and all of his family would love to come and tell him what he was doing wrong, and tell him he needs to get right with God, but not knowing that he was right with God.
But in Job 42, 10, it says, and the Lord turned the captivity of Job when he prayed for his friends. Right? Job was going through it over and over and over. It was never ending. First, it was his stuff. Then it was his family. Then it was him personally and his health and everything that he was. I mean, he was to the point that he was laying on the ground and filled with all these sores and things. And his friends were like, just curse God and die. He's like, there's nothing left for you. But half of Job is him arguing with his friends.
But when he prayed for his friends, That's when things started changing, amen? When he prayed for those who were despising him at that time. And this prayer is how bitterness is replaced with peace. Because again, you can't pray for somebody that you were angry with, that you hate. But praying for someone, it doesn't excuse their sin, it places them under God's authority instead of the authority of your anger. You see what I mean? And that's the difference is that you're free from the bitterness and the anger at that point. It doesn't hold you. It puts it in God's hands. Amen? Amen.
But just pray that Lord do whatever you must do in me. to keep, due to them, whatever you must do in me to keep me from ever being like that. Amen? Because our goal, I mean, not even as Christians, but just as people in general, shouldn't be to, for anybody to think of us as an enemy, for anybody to hate us, for anybody to want us gone, or any bad to happen to us, like that shouldn't be anybody's desire, right?
Back to Luke, in chapter six, He says in verse 29, and unto him that smited thee on the one cheek, offer also the other. And him that taketh away thy cloak, forbid not to take thy coat also.
That's bad, ain't it? We don't believe in that, do we? Not in 2025, we don't. But the thing is, again, it's this pride that gets in the way of us showing the love of Christ because We say, I mean, yeah. Darryl, if I punch you in the face, what's your natural reaction? Yeah, I want to hit you back. Exactly. That's just what it is.
But Jesus here, he says, unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek, offer also the other. If I punch Darryl in the face, Jesus says, turn your head the other way. Amen? And she laughed because she's like, no, we don't do that. But Christ did. Amen? Think about what Christ could have done when they was beating him. It's limitless, right? He could have just ascended up to heaven and been done with it.
But the thing is, we look at this as pride and strength and being offended and having to defend ourselves. But it's not weakness. It's faith in God. that judgment will come, right? And if anything, we need to pray that judgment don't come on them because think about how patient God was until you got saved. I didn't get saved until I was 22 years old, y'all. A lot happened in that 22 years. A lot of bad happened in that 22 years. And man, a lot of people that I hung out with doing that bad stuff, they didn't make it 22 years.
But God was long-suffering and God was patient. And because I trusted in him for salvation, he also demands that I trust in him in patience and long-suffering and grace to others as well. Amen?
Let's go back to Luke 23. Luke 23. We'll go 26. And as they led him away, they laid hold upon one Simon, a Cyrenian, coming out of the country, and on him they laid the cross. that he might bear it after Jesus. And there followed him a great company of people and of women, which also bewailed and lamented him, or bewailed and lamented him. But Jesus turning unto them said, daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children. Amen? What did you say? 23, we're in 27 now, or 29. He says, for behold, the days are coming, in the which they shall say, blessed are the barren, for the wounds never bear, and the past which never gave suck. Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, fall on us, and the hills cover us. For if they do these things in a green tree, or in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry? And there were also two other male factors led with him to be put to death. And when they were come to a place which is called Calvary, they crucified him and the male factors, one on the right and the other on the left.
Then Jesus said, Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do. Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.
You think they knew what they were doing when they were beating him? when they were whipping him, when they condemned him, when Pilate condemned him, and all these people were chanting, crucify him, crucify him, crucify him. These are all mindful decisions that they made. They made this decision to put this man to death, right? And when the judgment was made, they beat him the whole way, all night. They beat him all night. They whipped him. They put a robe around him just long enough to let it dry to be able to rip it off of him. To be able to spit in his face and pull his beard out. To be able to plant a crown of thorns in his head.
He says, forgive them for they know not what they do. Right. They didn't know who he was, but at the same time, They knew who he was. That's why they were offended because they knew who he was.
And when the word of God is present, it reveals sin. And when sin is revealed, again, you have two choices. You either get offended and you retaliate or you reject it or you repent. That's the two options. And they didn't repent.
Isaiah 53 7 says he was oppressed and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth. I guess they didn't know he was. He literally made people raised from the dead. Several different people he brought back to life. I mean, Lazarus, that little boy. I think there was a little girl also. I mean, he restored the soldier's ear that Peter cut off. He literally just put it back on, you know what I mean?
Fed 5,000 people with two fish and five loaves of bread and they took up baskets of excess afterwards You know, I mean, dude, I mean the the miracles are endless
And I mean it tells us that even the stuff that we had there's so much more that the books could not contain it he did so much things to show who he was and And he even said, I am the father of one. He who has seen me has seen the father. I mean, he says multiple things over and over saying that he is God, but if they can get rid of the one condemning them, they're free to sin, right? That's their thinking.
Romans 12, 19 says, dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves. Vengeance is mine. I will repay, sayeth the Lord, right? When we yield our rights to defend ourselves, defend our pride, right? When we submit this to God, it's trusting God more than what we need to get the last word in, more than what we need to make this person feel smaller than what we feel, right? It's growing our faith and it's trusting the Lord and it's obedience to God because this is Jesus who's commanded these things from us. It's not like, hey, if you wanna be a good Christian, do these things, right? This is recommended. He says, but I say unto you which hear, love your enemies, right? He didn't say if you feel like it, love your enemies, right? Or if you really wanna be on God's good, all my good side, love your enemies. No, he says love your enemies. Bless them, or do good to them which hate you. Bless them that curse you. Pray for them that despitefully use you. And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek, offer also the other to him that taketh away thy cloak. Forbid not to take thy coat also.
These are words from God that we should live by, right? They're not suggestions. Like, if we are going to accept Christ as Lord and Savior, then it is our job to be conformed to the image of Christ, to where we start acting like Christ, to where we start looking like Christ, to where Christ is reflected from us, to when others see us, they see Christ. Amen? That's our job as Christians, is to proclaim the gospel and to show the world the light of God, amen?
Yielding does not mean that their sin is ignored. It means that the justice for this is entrusted in God. You see, you trust God more to handle this than trust yourself. God will handle any situation that I'm in way better than however I think it's gonna be, amen? His ways are higher than my ways, his thoughts are higher than my thoughts. And a lot of times, even me and my wife arguing, sometimes I just shut up and I pray, I'm like, Lord, please fix this. Everything I have said is wrong, it's not good, it's not working out, please just fix this. I don't even know what to do anymore. And praise God he does, amen, because my wife still loves me for some reason.
John 13, 35 says, by this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. Right? That's not love to one another here in church. That's love one to another. Everywhere. Everywhere. John 13, 34 says, the new commandment I give unto you, that you love one another as I have loved you. That is a deep little fragment right there, as I have loved you. Christ loves us unconditionally, so much so that he was willing to give his life for us. He said, no man take my life, I lay it down freely. Amen. They didn't kill Jesus. They didn't catch Him slipping at the Last Supper and take Him captive and nail Him to a cross and kill Him. That wasn't their victory. That was His. Amen. That was ours. Christ laid down His life for us.
and that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. He didn't die for the righteous. He didn't die for the holy. He died for the ungodly. He died for his enemy. He died for those who cursed him. He died for those that spit in his face. He died for those that were punching him in the face. Those are the ones he died for, that they may live. Romans 5a says, but God commands his love toward us and that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. And this love, it's not spoken only, it's proven when He died on the cross. These aren't just empty flowery words. Christ said this and He lived it. Amen? And it's proven in His forgiveness also. First John 3, 16 says, hereby perceive we the love of God because he laid down his life for us. That although we sin against God and we come short of his glory, his mercies are new every morning, amen? And that same love has to be conveyed to others as well, that same patience. How often shall I forgive my brother? 70, what was the real words? 70 times seven, or something like that.
When Jesus says, as I have loved you, he calls us to a love that forgives and endures, and it reflects him, not us. Amen, because our retaliation, that reflects us. That reflects the old man, that reflects the flesh. But this love that he called us to, it reflects us, or it reflects him. And this love is what's described here in Luke 6. But this love also is the love of a true disciple. What is a disciple? A Christian disciple is, but what is a disciple? It's one that it learns, right? Like if I'm a disciple of Brother Wilhelm, what am I doing? following him around. I'm getting to know him in and out, I'm trying to understand everything, who he is, what he does at four in the morning, what he does at seven in the morning, what he does after he drinks his coffee, if he uses his right hand, does he use his left hand, does he blow on it first? I'm trying to be a disciple, I'm trying to understand, I'm trying to learn, so that I can be just like him. Amen? Brother Wilhelm ain't that cool. But Jesus is, amen? And that's what he calls us to is to love like him and to be his disciple and to love others as he has loved us. Blessing those that curse us, that cursed him. Loving those that crucified him. Amen? It's hard, y'all. But that's what we signed up for when we accepted him as Savior. It's an even trade if you ask me. I mean, not even as well, well unbalanced, but we benefit from it. Amen.
What do you got, brother? We'll do questions. We got time. I know that that's giving you a huge number to work with, but the whole part, the whole thing about that that I understand is that he's saying innumerable, infinitely, never always forgive your brother, always, you know, yeah, 100% because the fact is, is it if you have kept track of you forgiving 48 times, You haven't forgave. You're keeping track every step of the way. You know what I mean? And that's the thing. It's not a number. This is the limit. Now you can take action. It's like you said, it's innumerable. You have grace. What do you got, bro? How did it feel when you got saved? How did it feel?
Like a weight lifted off of me. Like I was forgiven. Forgiven of something I didn't even know I was guilty of. It's crazy. If you can imagine, somebody on your back like this, and you just get used to it. You carry it around. It's nothing, because you've been carrying it around your whole life. But then that has taken off you. I mean, it's like, wow. I had butterflies in my stomach. I felt relieved. And I can still remember the feeling, because, man, I'm grateful to be saved, y'all.
And the Bible tells us that, I mean, yeah, all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, and that the wages of sin is death, but the fact is that God commands His love toward us, and that while we're here, sinners, Christ died for us. He tells us that whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. And it's that simple. Simply understanding that we are sinners on our way to hell. There's nothing we can do about it except trusting what Christ did.
Our good can outweigh our bad. Church services don't count as far as the sin that we have committed. Baptism don't count. None of that can outweigh what we have done because the fact is the wages of sin is death and no sin can dwell in the presence of God in heaven. That's why God sent his son to die on the cross for our sins. If all we had to do was get baptized, he could have said in the 11th commandment, thou shalt be baptized and thou shalt be saved, right? It would have been that simple.
But the fact is, there's nothing that we can do because without the shedding of blood, there's no remission of sins. That's why we see all these sacrifices throughout the Old Testament, trying to atone for this sin, but they only atone for that one sin. But Christ's blood, It atoned for past, present, future, all sin. Amen? He died for all sin. My sin, your sin. People 100 years from now, if the Lord waits to come that long, he died for their sin too. Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. It's that simple. We repent of our sin. We trust that Jesus died on the cross for our sin, that he was buried and rose again three days later, and we ask him to save us.
The fact that he rose from the dead is what shows us that his gospel is true. Amen. Muhammad didn't raise from the dead. Amen. I mean, Buddha didn't raise from the dead. None of these other false prophets rose from the dead. He said, no man take my life. I laid down freely. He said, three days I will destroy this temple and I will build it again. And he did. Amen. And when he rose from the dead, he was seen by thousands, thousands of people seeing Christ after he rose from the dead. And then he ascended to heaven. And he called us today to be his disciples, to love others as he has loved us. Amen.
Anybody else got anything else we got? Yes, 100%. He says, I am the way, the truth, the life. No man cometh unto the Father but by me. There's nothing we can do. And that's the difference between true Christianity, not saying some prayer a thousand times, not holding to these rituals and stuff. True Christianity, the difference is, is the understanding there is nothing you can do. Every other religion teaches that you can earn your way to heaven. There is something you can do, except Islam. I mean, they say, if you do this, you might have a chance, possibly. But there's no assurance in any other false religion, because they are just that, false religions. They are man-made religions.
Islam is huge right now. But, I mean, the quote-unquote prophet Muhammad, I mean, he came almost 700 years after Christ. 700 years later, y'all. Like, I mean, that's, talking about this, that's the truth. And they even say in their Quran that Jesus is the Messiah. They don't deny the virgin birth either.
But, man. Yeah and I mean if you don't study the Quran if you're not secure in your faith but at the same time if you do study the Quran you can use that to witness to people. You can use their word to witness to them because I mean it even says that the Christians have the true word. There's man, there's a lot to it, but let's not get into all that.
All right, we'll go ahead and close out before we start getting too far drug out with randomness. Let's pray.
Lord God, we thank you so much for your word. Father, we thank you for loving us in such a way, Lord, and showing us the compassion and the grace and the mercy and being suffering with us, Lord, in ways that we do not deserve, Father. We just pray that you may help us, Lord, to desire to become more Christ-like, Father, to be able to help us to be a light in the community, Lord, and forgive others, Lord, and not hold grudges, God, and just to trust you to lead them in our direction, that we may lead them to yours, Father. I just pray that you may just use us greatly, Lord, for your grace, glory, and praise the name of Jesus. Amen.
