have spiritually an eternal life with Jesus Christ, with God, forever. We shall never be separated from him. The second result that we looked at is satisfaction, true satisfaction. Men think that things of this world satisfies, or they perceive that if they only had this, or if they only had that, then they would be happy, then they would be satisfied. But that's not true. Satisfaction. But in partaking of Christ, we are satisfied. True satisfaction. The third one is the one that we'll be looking at today and maybe the fourth. He that, in verse 56, he that eateth my flesh and drinketh my blood dwelleth in me and I in him. There is a mutual indwelling for those who continually feast upon Christ. Christ is in us and we are in him. The believer receives Christ into his being, into his being, and Christ enters the believer's life and abides with him? Is Christ in you? To answer that question, we could put it like this. If Christ is in you, then you desire what Christ desired. And what did Christ desire? You've been with us this long, and we've come through enough. We have seen what Christ desired. Christ desires to do the will of the Father, for they are one. The will of the Father was the will of the Son, and he desired to do that will. He did that will. He said, Well, I don't think that's right. But he said, I do always those things that please my father. He desired to do the will of the father and he did the will of the father. If Christ has taken up his abode in us, in me, in you, then we ought to be desiring to do the will of God. The believer is placed into Christ. We are in Christ. There again, I'm gonna emphasize this point. Being in Christ is altogether different than being in the body of Christ. In scripture, they are talking about two different things. In Scripture, where it references in Christ, being in Christ, it is talking about salvation. In salvation, we are in Christ. But in the body of Christ, it's talking about his church. Everywhere the term body of Christ is used, it's talking about his church. And God sets in the church in the body of Christ, those whom he pleases to be in there. I was thinking about it the other day. It's been well over a year since we taught on that. We're going to have to preach on it again. Because in our day and time, that's very important. Because there are the Lord's churches. They were sound doctrinally. They were sound concerning the doctrine of salvation, the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the doctrines of grace, and the sovereignty of God. They were sound on church truth. And what it meant to be a church of the Lord Jesus Christ, to be the body of Christ, And not all the saved are in the body of Christ. All the saved are in Christ. They are saved. They're in Christ. But they're not all in the body of Christ. And churches are leaving that point and they're being persuaded by the universalists who think in Christ and body of Christ it's one and the same. How can you be in Christ and not in the body of Christ? Because scripture says they're two different things and we must go By the Word of God. So the believer is placed in Christ's salvation. In salvation, he is placed in Christ. The believer abides in Christ. And Christ is his habitation. His dwelling place. And Christ has taken up residence in our hearts by his spirit. This, of course, means There's fellowship. There's fellowship. There's sweet communion. Unless, as is stated in 1 John 1, when we sin, that fellowship is broken, that communion is broken. But even then, He's left us an avenue if we'll come in repentance to him, confessing our sin. We know that he is faithful and just to forgive us all our sins. So, fellowship, companionship. Wasn't that a blessing this morning to hear that he is ever with us? He is ever with the believer. He'll never leave us nor forsake us. And we have the presence of his watchful eye over us. Well, maybe you don't like him watching over you. Maybe your life, maybe my life is not one such as I would enjoy. The presence of his eye. The presence of his care. Oh, well, we want his care, don't we? Do you ever give it a thought? Do we ever give it a thought, really? When we're not behaving? according to his word, when we're not obeying his word, that he sees, he knows. You know, I think if we, and I said we, I think if we got that into our mindset, that he is ever watching over us, that would keep us, that would serve as a check upon a lot of what we do and the behavior that we commit. Oh, we like the thought of his eye being upon us in care. He sees. what I have need of, he sees what you have need of, he knows. And he, he is the one, he knows what we need. He knows what it, he created these bodies, he knows what it takes to sustain these bodies. Well, we think, we know, we talk about comforts. Just think about all the comforts we have. Thinking about some of the comforts? Think about all the comforts we have in the last 50 years in this lifetime. Think of how advanced technology is. and electronics or the electronic age. Do we need it? Things were much simpler in the day when that thing we call a phone was hardwired. There was a hardwire coming out of the wall into the phone, and the phone sat in one place on the desk. And it had a cord attached to it. And then along came the long cord. And you could walk around the receiver like this, and talk and everything. And that thing got all tangled up. They had to string it out. Then they come along with the coiled ones, which stretch out there 10, 12 feet. Walk around. Then they come up with the cordless. You could walk around. They'd receive the signal from, as long as you didn't walk out of range of the signal, but then you could never find the receiver. The phone would ring, where's the receiver? Where is it at? You had to run around. They were comforts. Now we carry them on our hip or in our purse. And the phone rings, and what do we got to do? Well, we got to answer it. Well, what about the phone when it was hardwired and sat right there in your place in the home, and you left the home, and you never knew it rang? What happened? They called back when you were home. If it was important, they kept trying until they got you. I like the comfort of the computer, computer age. Oh, that is advanced. It has made my studying so much easier. I mean, I got everything right there at the click of the mouse. You know, my Bible's there, my WordPad's over here, And I type what I want up there. And I want to check what this author says about this or something. And I just click on his name and pull it up there and read. That's getting harder. Now I got to hold this thing up to my computer sometimes to read it. But I've got this to do that. This gadget here, my work would be a lot harder. I would have to type all my notes in larger font, type out my Bible verses in larger font, could still be done for time. But the point is, while we perceive these things as needed and necessary, when it comes right down to it, they're a comfort. They're a comfort to us. What do we need? We need food. And some of us, not as much food as we get. We need clothing. And we don't need the richest and finest clothing. We just need to be clothed. And shelter, shelter from The heat, shelter from the cold, shelter from the elements. Other weather, a good thing to have. He knows. He knows this body. And so he knows what it needs. He's watching over us in care. taking care. And he has blessed my wife and I beyond compare. We thank him so much. He's looking after us. That's what it means for Christ to be in you and you in him. Your desires are changed. You want to do the will of God. You desire to do the will of God. You desire to be pleasing to him. You desire that fellowship with him. Let me tell you, If you're a child of God, you know when you don't have that fellowship with him. You know when that fellowship is broken. I've always known. Turn with me to the book of John chapter 14. John chapter 14. and verse 20. Jesus here speaking to the 11 apostles. Judas at this point had already gone out. In fact, had even tried to give the 30 pieces of silver back to the high priest and the scribes and Pharisees. They wouldn't take it. And he threw it down in the temple and he went out and hung himself. So he's just speaking to the 11 and speaking to his church. In verse 20 of chapter 14, he said, at that day, He shall know that I am in my father and ye in me and I in you. Did any of you pick up on that? Jesus said, Ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. What's that mean? If Jesus is in the Father, and he is, he's one with the Father, what's that mean? That, and we're in Christ, we're in Jesus, And he and us, then we too are in the Father, are we not? We're in Christ. And we're to be one. That comes out in his high priestly prayer in John chapter 17. That they may be one as we are one father, that they may be one with us. Wow. In Christ. He and me. I am the father. And we are to be one. As he and the Father are one, that we may be one. The Father and Jesus and his children. Be one with him. Chapter 15. Chapter 15 verses 4 through 5. Jesus said, Abide in me. dwell in me, and I in you. If you're abiding in me, then I'm abiding in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine, no more can ye except ye abide in me." The verse before that, he said he was the vine. His father is the husband. I am the vine, ye are the branches. He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit, for without me Ye can do nothing. If you're not abiding in him, you can't do anything spiritually. You can't bring forth fruit unto God. You can't bring forth fruit unto the Lord Jesus Christ. You can't bear fruit if you're not abiding in the vine. But you are biting in the vine, and the vine in you, and he in you. Then you're able to bear much fruit. Galatians chapter two. The book of Galatians chapter two. And verse 20, I am crucified with Christ. Nevertheless, I live, yet not I. But Christ liveth in me, and the life which I now live is in the flesh. I live by the faith of the Son of God who loved me and gave himself for me." Christ liveth in me. The Apostle said, Christ liveth in me. And as Christ lived in Paul, Paul lived in Christ. And as Christ lives in me, I live in Christ. And it is manifested. By our desires and passions, it is manifested by the life that we live. Colossians, the book of Colossians in chapter one and verse 27. Colossians 1 verse 27, to whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of the mystery and the Gentiles, which is what? Christ in you, the hope of glory. Christ in you, the hope of glory. Oh, that will be glory for me when I stand and look upon him. The one who loved me and gave his life for me. First John. First John. Chapter three. Verse 24. Here's the key, folks. Here's the test. Y'all like tests? Well, here's the test that you're put to. Verse 24 of 1 John chapter 3, and he that keepeth, that keepeth His commandments dwelleth in him and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us by the spirit. which he hath given us. He that keepeth, he that doeth, he that is obedient to do his commandments dwelleth in him and he in them. And we have his spirit. Which is bearing witness. That's what this last part says. His spirit is bearing witness with our spirit that we are the sons of God. That we are the children of God. Romans 8. I think it's about verse 16. Tells us that. We have his spirit. It's bearing witness with our spirit that we are the children of God and we manifest that in obedience to His commandments. And that doesn't mean obedience to the commandments that we like and disobedience to the ones we don't like. I don't like that one. I'm going to toss that one out. I'm going to rip that page out because I don't like what it has to say. Well, that doesn't change the mind of God. You can rip it out if you want. You can shred it in the paper shredder, but that isn't gonna get rid of the command of God. The command of God is eternal, and it doesn't matter what you do with it on the written page. You're still obligated to obey it. He that keepeth his commandments, dwelleth in him, and he in them." Well, we'll quit there today. Thought we might get on to the fourth one, but we didn't get there. So, what is the third result of partaking in, I point out again, that's a continual partaking of the Lord Jesus Christ. He that eateth, eateth continually, continually munches on, crunches on him, continually drinketh of his blood.
