That was beautiful. Praise God.
Amen. Okay, let's turn to 1 Peter 1. 1 Peter 1. Looking at the topic, your reservation
is ready. Your reservation is ready. 1 Peter 1, and we'll be looking
at verses 3 through 5. And Brother Lucas, would you
lead us in prayer? Dear Holy Father, as we open your word
again this morning, I just pray that you would help us to and that You would draw us closer
to You. I ask that You would heal those that aren't feeling
well this morning, that You'd help them to be feeling better. Any
that are traveling right now, if their souls are traveling,
that You just keep them safe and that You give the direction
that they need. I just ask that You meet with
us this morning. In Jesus' name, Amen. Amen. 1 Peter 1 and verses 3-5 Blessed be the God and Father
of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to His abundant mercy
hath begotten us again into a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus
Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled,
and that fadeth not away." And then what? reserved in heaven
for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith unto
salvation, ready to be revealed in the last time. A place reserved
in heaven for you. As Brother Steve just said, it's
not by our goodness, it's by the power of God, it's by the
blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. There are so many people in this
world that are not sure that they're going to heaven. And
why is that? Well, very simply, it's because
they haven't made a reservation. They haven't made a reservation.
It's that simple. Let's go to Romans 10. Romans
10, and we'll look in verse 13. So, number one, we're looking
at make a reservation for heaven. How do you do it? Romans chapter
10 and verse 13. The Bible says, for whosoever
shall what? Call upon the name of the Lord,
what? Shall be saved. For whosoever
shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. So, so what number do you reach
him by? How do you call? How do you get
a hold of him? Well, if any generation should
understand this point, it should be this generation. First of all, we're no longer
limited to making phone calls by the length of the cord we
have. How many of you remember those cords that were about 20
feet long? And someone was talking on the
phone and you needed to get into the kitchen or to a room and
you had to duck under or raise the phone cord up. And the phone
cords would gradually get stretched way out until they'd hang on
the floor. You remember those days? Yeah, so we're not limited
to that anymore. Then they come out with the cordless
phones and see, you may get a set, you may have three of them in
your house, maybe four, I don't know, maybe just two, maybe one.
But the cordless phone, and with a cordless phone, you know, the
old corded phones, you know, the poor people that had to,
you know, you ladies, when you're trying to, somebody calls you
and you're working in the kitchen, so you're trying to cradle that
phone up here and you're trying to do everything, and it's no
wonder you needed to go to the chiropractor, you know, when
your head's stuck over that way, you know, from talking on the
phone. So what did they do with the cordless phones? They had
a button you could push. What was that button? Speakerphone,
yeah. So now you didn't have to kink
your neck, even secretaries at work, there used to be a thing
you'd stick on your phone to kind of help you there, hold
it. So the speakerphone, so now you just put it on the counter
and busy working around the house and you're talking and in fact
you can even go outside depending on the power of those cordless
phones. If you stay fairly close to the
house you can go outside in the yard and talk on it. But then
the cell phone came along. Same button, speakerphone, you
can talk on speakerphone but now You can get further away
than the yard. You can jump in the car. and
I guess you're supposed to have it on a holder now. Okay, have
to be careful there. You're not supposed to hang on
it talking on the phone anymore, but you can have different type
of holders. You can still talk. In fact, many cars now, you can
do the Bluetooth and you can talk right through your car,
you know, on your phone. So some pretty amazing things. It's just like no limit unless
you're out of the range of a cell phone tower, other than that. But it still doesn't answer the
question. What number? How do you how do you call God? How do you get his number? But
as I said, this generation of all generations should understand
how to contact God, how it's how it's done. I'm not going
to I'm not going to dial any numbers, but Siri, Siri, how do I talk to God? Siri, how can I talk to God? Siri, how can I talk to God? I didn't dial a number, did I?
What did I say? Siri, thank you. Siri, oh yeah, your phones are
saying it. Siri, thank you. Sorry, I don't
understand. I heard some device back there. Anyway, she'll say thank you. I even got her to say, my pleasure. Maybe she worked at Culver's
too, I don't know. So if there's any generation
that should understand how to contact God, it should be our
generation. You can talk to a computerized
database. It's pretty amazing. You don't
need a number. You just need to be as smart
as the phone, which I am not, but you just say the name and
Siri responds. If man can figure out that technology,
then can't we understand that if I can be talking along and
Siri's voice won't come on unless I say her name, Siri. Now, if man can figure out that,
how much more so can God? Amongst all the chatter in this
world, God knows when someone is crying out to Him and answers. So when it says in verse 13,
and for whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall
be saved, you don't need a phone number. Just call, call upon
the name of the Lord. He will hear you and He will
save you. Notice in Luke 18, Luke chapter
18. Luke chapter 18 and verse 10. And we'll read 10 through 14,
Luke 18, 10. Two men went up into the temple
to pray, the one a Pharisee and the other a Republican. The Pharisees
stood and prayed what? thus with himself. God, I thank
thee that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers,
or even as this publican. I fast twice in the week, I give
tithes of all that I possess, and the publican standing afar
off would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but
smote upon his blessing, God be merciful to me a sinner. I
tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather
than the other. For everyone that exalteth himself
shall be a beast, and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted."
So the Pharisee, as we saw, there wasn't really praying to God.
It says there, verse 11, the Pharisee stood and prayed thus
with himself. He really wasn't praying to God,
he was praying thus with himself and just letting God know, God.
I thank you that I am not as other men are. And he went on
to boast about himself. But the publican, in verse 13,
was praying to God. The publican, standing afar off,
would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote
upon his breast, saying, God, what? Be merciful to me, a sinner. He was crying out in insincerity
And so you see here in verse four, here, let's see here, 14. Verse 14, I tell you, this man
went down to his house justified rather than the other. So justified
means made righteous. And the only way we're made righteous
is through the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, which was shed
for us. So the publican did not need
a phone number to get saved. What did he say? God, be merciful
to me, a sinner. When we say his name, he answers
that request. So the hurricane came through
Florida and then up through North Carolina. And it came out that
some of the FEMA workers had been instructed that if they
saw any Make America Great Again flags or signs to not go on that
property and help them with hurricane relief. Well it eventually came
out and of course there's a lot of people checking into that
now because It was a terrible act of discrimination. When someone's
home has been destroyed, it shouldn't matter what political persuasion
they are. The government is supposed to
treat all people the same, but they were not. But thankfully
with God, we don't have to worry about that. With discrimination,
notice back in Romans 10. Romans 10. God doesn't just hear certain
peoples. It says in Romans 10, 12, it
says, where there is no difference between who the Jew and the Greek
for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon
him for whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall
be saved whosoever. So it doesn't matter whether
we're a Jew or a Greek, if we cry out to Him, He will hear. The problem is that not everyone
knows how to make that call. Some people have been deceived. Some people have been deceived
thinking, you know what, if you want to go to heaven, you've
got to be baptized. Well, baptism is a picture of
what takes place in our heart. If you notice with me in Romans
chapter six here, Romans chapter six. In verse 1, we'll read on down
through here, Romans 6, what shall we say? Then shall we continue
in sin that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we that
are dead to sin live any longer therein? Know ye not that so
many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into
His death? Therefore, we are buried with
Him by baptism into death, that like as Christ was raised up
from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should
walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together
in the likeness of His death, we shall be also in the likeness
of His resurrection." So it's a picture of that. Notice with
me in Acts chapter 8. Acts chapter 8. And verse 36, well, start in
verse 35, Acts 8, 35. Then Philip opened his mouth
and began at the same scripture and preached unto him Jesus.
And as they went on their way, they came into a certain water,
and the eunuch said, See, here is water. What doth hinder me
to be baptized? What is stopping me from being
baptized? Verse 37. And Philip said what? If thou believest with what? All thine heart, thou what? Thou mayest. And he answered
and said, I what? Believe that who? Jesus Christ
is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot
to stand still, and they went down both into the water, both
Philip and the eunuch, and he baptized him. So verse 36, he
says, what doth hinder me to be baptized? One thing, you must
believe with your heart upon the Lord Jesus Christ. If thou
believest with all thine heart thou mayest. Verse 37, he affirmed
that, that he does. So, so back in Romans chapter
10 and verses 13 and 14, So Romans 10.13 said, "...for
whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
Verse 14, "...how then shall they call on him in whom they
have not believed? And how shall they believe in
him of whom they have not heard? How shall they hear without a
preacher?" people need to call upon the
Lord to be saved, but if they don't know that, how are they
going to be saved? And that's how God wants to use
us. God wants to use us to get the
gospel to them, whether it's through the gospel tracts, or
the Bible courses, whether it's through us talking to people
one-on-one, in person, over the phone, whether it's sending out
missionaries to get that message out, people need to know who
to call. They don't need to know a phone
number, they need to know that name, who to call. Notice in
Acts chapter 4, in verse 12, Acts 4.12, and maybe we should
back up to verse 10 so you understand what this name is. In Acts 4.10,
Be it known unto you all and to all the people of Israel that
by the name of who? Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom
ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth
this man stand before you whole. This is the stone which was set
at Nod of you builders, which has become the head of the corner."
Verse 12, neither is there salvation in any other. For there is none
other, what? Name. And what was that name,
verse 10? Jesus Christ. There is none other
name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be, what? Saved. So do you have the phone
numbers memorized for all of your family? Do you know what
our phone number was when I lived at home when I was a boy? It
was 754-3333. 754-3333. That was a nice one. It was easy to remember. Now, this seems like eventually,
like every member of the family will have their own number. Do
you even know all the numbers of all the phones of your own
family? It gets mind-boggling, just all
of those numbers. We don't need a phone number
to call God. We just need to call upon the
name, the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved. So that's
our goal. Whether it's the missionaries,
whether it's the billboard, we just want His name to be known. Notice in 2 Corinthians 5, 2
Corinthians 5, and we'll read verses 20 and 21. 2 Corinthians
5, 20. Now then, we are what? Ambassadors
for Christ. As though God did beseech you
by us, we pray you in Christ's stead, be reconciled to God. For he hath made him, and that's
referring to Jesus, he hath made him to be sin for us who knew
no sin. And once again, the phrase who
knew no sin also refers to Jesus, not to us, because we are sinners. But Jesus knew no sin, that we
might be made what? The righteousness of God. How
righteous is the righteousness of God? It's perfect. It's perfection. That we might
be made the righteousness of God in who? In Him. The Him is verse 20. It's Christ. That's why salvation is secure.
It's not because we are good. It's because Christ is perfect. His blood was perfect. That's
what gets us salvation. But For people who do not make
this reservation, they walk around life not knowing if they're going
to heaven. And the reason is because they
haven't made that reservation through the name of Jesus Christ.
So what is reserved for them? There is a default reservation. If we don't make a reservation
for heaven, it goes back to default. What is default? Well, it goes
back to the original settings. Whether it's your phone, your
computer. If you get frustrated with something
electronic, many times there's a reset button. And it goes back
to the factory settings. What is the reservation if we
don't make a reservation for heaven? Well, notice in Nahum. The book of Nahum. Nahum, Habakkuk,
Zephaniah. Nahum chapter one and verses
two and three. Nahum one, two. God is jealous
and the Lord revengeth. The Lord revengeth and is furious. The Lord will take vengeance
on his adversaries. And he was. Reserveth wrath for
his enemies. If we do not make a reservation
for heaven through Jesus Christ, it goes to default, and default
reservation is to experience God's wrath. Notice back in Romans
chapter 5. In Nahum there, it talked about
God takes vengeance on his adversaries and reserveth wrath for his enemies. Well, who is God's enemy? In Romans 5, 6. We'll read 6
through 11. Romans 5, 6. For when we were yet without
strength in due time, Christ died for who? The ungodly. That's us. For scarcely for a
righteous man will one die, yet perventure for a good man some
would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward
who? Us. And that while we were what? Yet sinners, Christ died for
us. much more than being now justified
by what? His blood. It's not by our works. We're justified. Justified means
made righteous. We are not made righteous by
our works. We are justified. We are made righteous by His
blood. We shall be saved from wrath
through Him. Verse 10, for if When we were
what? Enemies. We just read in Nahum
that the enemies of God, there is reserved wrath. They have
a reservation to wrath, God's wrath. For if when we were enemies,
we were reconciled to God by the death of who? His Son, much
more being reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. And not
only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
by whom we have now received what? the atonement, we've been
made right with God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So before we
get saved, we are the enemies of God and the enemies of God
have a reservation to wrath. Notice in 2 Peter 2, 2 Peter
2, In 2 Peter 2, verse 9, "...the
Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptation, and
to..." Reserve. Here's this reservation. It's
default. We don't make a reservation for
heaven. This is our default reservation. And to reserve the unjust unto
the day of what? Judgment to be what? Punished. That's the default reservation. Don't make a reservation to heaven
through Jesus Christ, then you have a default reservation. It's
already been made for you. You're going to experience the
wrath of God. Notice in verse 17, 2 Peter 2,
17, it says of these people, it says, these are wells without
water, clouds that are carried with a tempest to whom the mist
of what? Darkness is what? Reserved how
long? Forever. That's default reservation. What was Jesus called? The light
of the world. In heaven there's no night. In
heaven there's no need of the sunlight because the Lord is
the light thereof. So it's never going to get dark
in heaven. It's always light. No night.
But for those who have not made a reservation for heaven through
Jesus Christ, our Lord, they have this default reservation
where there is never going to be light. Verse 17. Their reservation
is for the mist of darkness forever. No light forever and ever. Notice in Jude, verse six, just
before the book of Revelation, Jude, verse six. And the angels
which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation,
he hath what? Reserved, here's their reservation. He hath reserved an everlasting
what? Chains under what? Darkness under
the judgment of the great day. Even as Sodom and Gomorrah and
the cities about them in a like manner, giving themselves over
to fornication and going after strange flesh, are set forth
for an example, suffering the vengeance of what? Eternal fire. Notice in verse 13, Jude 13,
we'll read 13 through 15. Speaking of these people once
again, raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame,
wandering stars, to whom is what? Here's that default reservation. They don't make a reservation
through Jesus Christ our Lord to heaven. Default reservation,
to whom is reserved the what? Blackness of darkness, how long?
Forever. Can you imagine? Oh, which I
forgot. Should have brought the envelopes.
The shoals are going to get back in Greenland on Tuesday, and
it's dark. The sun has been set, I think, since mid-November.
And the sun will not rise again in Greenland until January something. We'll have to look it up. But
we need to get our letter writing again to encourage them. Darkness. How do you feel on cloudy days,
gloomy days? It's a lot easier for people
to be happy when the sun is shining. The Bible talks about the light
is sweet. It's sweet. But darkness has
a tendency to discourage. We've looked over and over. If
we don't make a reservation to heaven through Jesus Christ our
Lord, our default reservation is hell. And it's the blackness
of darkness forever. Ever. So God doesn't want that
for anyone. Notice in Acts 20, that's why
He sent His only begotten Son. What a wonderful time of the
year as we think of Christmas coming and just what the Lord
did for us, a gift we did not deserve, salvation. Acts 20,
21. The Bible says testifying both
to the Jews and also to the Greeks. So there's that. God does not
discriminate. Salvation is not for just a select
few. Testifying both to the Jews and
to the Greeks, also to the Greeks, repentance toward God and faith
toward our Lord Jesus Christ. So we can have a blessed reservation. or we can experience a default
reservation, which is horrible, eternal judgment. Notice in Psalm 16, there's something
so much better. Psalm 16, in verse 11. Psalm 16, 11. The Bible says in Psalm 16, 11,
Thou wilt show me the path of life. In thy presence is what? Fullness of joy. Wouldn't you
love to be in a place where there's always fullness of joy? No sadness,
no tears, no pain, no crying. In thy presence is fullness of
joy. At thy right hand there are what?
Pleasures forevermore. What a contrast to this earth.
What a contrast. But a reservation must be made
to go there. In closing, let's go to John
14, John chapter 14. But people need to hear how to
make that reservation. That is our desire. That's why
we go out giving them the gospel. In John 14, and we'll read verses
1-6, "'Let not your heart be what?' troubled. You believe
in God, believe also in me. In my father's house are what? Many mansions. If it were not
so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for who? For you. And if I go and prepare
a place for you, I will what? Come again and receive you unto
myself that where I am, and where is he? He's in heaven. There
ye may be also, and whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.
Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest,
and how can we know the way? Jesus saith unto him, I am the
way, the truth, and the life. No man cometh unto the Father
but by me. Why? Why is Jesus the only way? Because the wages of sin is what?
Death. Jesus, the perfect, pure Son
of God, suffered that death for us. He bare our sins in his own
body on the tree, 1 Peter 2, 24. And he has the offer for
whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. I pray if there should be any
here this morning who have never made that call, you don't need
a number. You need a name, the Lord Jesus
Christ. If Siri can answer that phone
and pick out her name, how much more so can God, through all
the chatter, all the talk going on, how much more so when someone
calls upon Him, God, be merciful to me, a sinner, how much more
so does He hear and respond? He will. Let's pray. Heavenly
Father, we thank you for that great salvation for which, Lord,
we are so unworthy, we are so sinful. We thank you for your
great love. We thank you that you would allow
us to make a reservation for heaven, a reservation to a place
where there's a mansion built for us, a reservation to a place
where there's fullness of joy, A reservation to a place where
there'll never be any more crying, no sorrow, no pain, no more death. A reservation to a place where
the streets are pure gold, the gates are pearl. A reservation
to a place where we'll never need a light, never need a candle,
it'll never be dark, Father, I pray that everyone here would
have made that decision. I pray, Father, that you would
help us. We need your power. We do want
to get that message to this world. Lord, we do acknowledge that
if they don't make that reservation, they already have a default reservation
to eternal fire and darkness. Lord, we pray for a great revival,
a great awakening. We ask in Jesus name. Amen.
