James 516, the last chapter of James. It's after Hebrew. Sometimes it gets moved around, but it's there. You'll find it. And I want you to understand something. I'm your brother in Christ, almost 60 years saved, and we are equals. Do you understand English? I say that kindly. I'm a teacher. Jesus was never once called preacher. You may think so, and he was, but never so called. Rabbi, teacher, and I need to make it very clear to you. I'm learning how to pray and what I share will be from God's word. I'm a plagiarist. That means I copy. I'm totally unoriginal when it comes to preaching. I simply find verses and pull them together, brother. And that's it. And it's so wonderful that God has given us, crafted just one book. And with that book, we can touch the world. And by his grace, turn darkness to light. It is absolutely, massively magnificent, miraculous, and mysterious, what God does through one book. This is the eternal word of the eternal God. I mean, it's just tremendous. Just touching it. Now, don't misunderstand. Just touching this word, I'm just uplifted. And I grab a verse here, and I say, oh, and I get intoxicated. Of course, I've been that way for almost 60 years. Because once you're saved, brother, I mean, you're not the same person. You walk in the door, take your place. I took part in a gospel service on a live radio broadcast. The live ones were fun. You made all your mistakes in public, and they got everything you did, you know. Now we have everything perfected. Well, we think we do. We don't, but. And that was the night I was born again. And I thank the Lord. In eternity past, my name indelibly inscribed in the Lamb's book. The Lamb slain from before the foundation of the world. Come on. We've got everything. We have Him. That's just tremendous. Now notice what James says. I'm jumping into context. I'm just giving you a little background about John Crabb. Confess your faults one to another. So let's start with that. There was a man sent from God whose name was John and he had human limitations, all right? Underline the word limitations. I added those words. I'm human. I have many faults. But somehow, from the night I was saved, son, when brother John went home, considerably older than you are, I fell on my knees by my little bed and prayed. I was already saved, son. But I did that, brother, because I didn't know what else to do. It was spontaneous. It was a birthmark of a child of God. I had prayed before, but nothing. Now I'm praying as a newborn child of God. And when you find the Apostle Paul in Acts chapter 9, Ananias is on his knees, and the Heavenly Father says, son, let's quit the praying. You've got homework to do. Go to Straight Street, and that's quite a street. Straight as a die in Damascus. All the others are wiggly-jiggly. But Straight Street, and there's all these old homes, and they'll say, I wonder which one was Paul in. And here's what the brother says here. that ye may be healed. This is the healing context. But the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man, underline a, and put in your margin, O-N-E, availeth much. So I just take and believe God, one righteous man. And I'm righteous by his righteousness, imputed to me. Imputation means God just puts it on crab, covers me with a precious blood, And David said, blessed is he whose sins are covered. Oh, David, you're so out of style. You're so out of date, man. Get caught up in the 21st century. My sins aren't covered. They're gone to the precious blood. See, David lived before Calvary. And sins were covered then, a temporary thing. And now when you're born again, you've got a 1017 on the screen. Their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. I mean, this is, this is, no wonder a person gets intoxicated spiritually when you realize all your sins. We told you this past week, all the heroes of faith, not one sin recorded in the New Testament. All the Old Testament sins committed, incredible. Don't even think too deeply about David. You can't accept that. You say, how could a man of God, the friend of God do that? It's incredible. Their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. You see, this is the mercy of God. by grace are you saved through faith and not of yourselves. It's the gift of God. So the person who attempts to minister to you today is your brother in Christ. At the cross the ground is level. And if you follow me around all day you say, good night, you know hotshot. I'm just your brother, working on many things in my life, but I love to pray. It's hard work. And I just, before we get into the message, this is one of the prayer books. Your name is not in here. You're in the red book for some reason. This is the, these are the ones that came in over the telephone, page after page. And this is just one of the books. These are some of the young folk. You say, how can you make out you're writing? Well, I wear the thick glasses, just page after page after page after page, and then there's other pages. There's two books for the Philippines alone. I'm not doing this to brag. I have to write. This is the type of life I live. Logistics, order, discipline. I like to be that way. Other people live differently, but I just have to do this or else I'm getting nothing done. I have to know where I'm going when I get home tomorrow afternoon to Albany, New York, flying in from Chicago, from here to Chicago to Albany, and then right away. I've even got part of my wash done. I plan it, sorry, because I leave for Ireland in a few minutes after I get home. So get the mail taken care of, do the bookkeeping if God does anything, and then I move on to Ireland to minister. And that's just how we go. And I'm the world's worst packer, girls. I am terrible. My precious wife, she could give five times as much in the trunk of the car as I could. I mean, I am a total disaster. But God, if God could use John Crabb, how much more will he use you? Pastor asked me to encourage you. Oh, give me an hour. I'll get this hooked on. Were you hearing me before you did? Do I need this? Yes or no. Oh, we got a new Texas one going. Well, yes, I do walk around. At my age, I have to. If I don't, I might have to. This jiggy stuff, I'm not into mechanics. My son is. But they switch babies in the hospital. We kept them. He said, put it on your tie. That's one of my good ties, man. Get it the other way. All right. Now, don't laugh. I can't even tie my shoes. Now, do I have to push a button here? Or you're doing it for me? Thank you, brother. And thank you for signal number four. That's four things I've learned at Texas. I just can't believe you folk. I have to presume most of you are tongue tied, and all you do is go signs and signals to each other. Two verses I did not give the other night when I referred to prayer. This is not the message. It's just two verses that are so extremely significant on prayer. Would you look to Luke, the doctor? I believe it's 22 and 44. Luke 22 and 44. And if I go too fast, would you be so kind and polite as to raise your hand? I get carried away. I get blessed. I mean, I get all excited. The Word of God stirs me, startles me, surprises me, you know. And I love to teach. Notice, and I'm jumping into context. Son, that means I believe you know what I'm gonna be talking about, so I just get right in there. If you don't know it, then you're in deep water. He's in the garden. 2244, and being in an agony, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood. Sweating blood? Talk to the doctor, it's possible. And he did it. The word I want to emphasize is agony. And this word agony, it's just a Greek word. They pulled it. We use it all the time. Agonizo. So don't be afraid. That's what it is, son. It's right here in the King James Bible from Texas Receptus. Now, the picture is incredible. They're sleeping. He's in agony for us because separation is imminent. The cup was not my sins. Secondary, perhaps. Separation from God. First, foremost, and fundamental. First time ever, the father will be separated from the son because the father will turn his back on his son. My God, why? And the heavens are silent. Turn. Romans. Romans 1530. I love the personality of the man of God. And here's what he says in Romans 1530. I beseech you. Now, there we go. Beseech means, come on, soldier, let's, man, I need you on the team. I need you with me. I urge you. I just have to have your help. Don't just stand there staring at me. Come on, give me a hand. Now I beseech you, brethren, the whole church in Killeen, Texas, Rome at the time. For the Lord Jesus Christ's sake, come on. For Jesus' sake, man, let's do it. For the love of the Spirit. That's you. Next word. Loud, say it. And how do you spell strive? A-G-O-N-Y. It's the same word. You Greek scholars here, all the Greek believers here this morning, you've got your Greek New Testaments, same word. Agonize. Get serious about prayer. I need you desperately. Come on folk the whole church Not just the deacons and pastor meeting at some unusual hour on Sunday morning And don't forget Anna She had no idea about time Anna there, you know in the temple. She had a little cottage built in there somewhere a little room for her Praying fasting day and night Next baby called the baby Anna and she might be a prayer warrior. You see, times have changed. We don't pray like that anymore. The man says, I need you people. I'm just a human being, don't you know anything? Agonize for me in prayer. Same word, Jesus in the garden. Agonizo, it's right there. See, prayer's hard work. You play soccer, son, football? Drinking fountain? Lunchtime, you play those, you're good. Anybody here soccer, anybody football players, where are we? Oh, good. Michael, you do everything. Nobody else around this place does anything. We have athletes here, any runners here? All right, I'll, no more, I promise. I'm not gonna say golf, I won't do it. I won't say baseball, I won't say hockey. Oh, wouldn't say hockey, that's Canadian. 2 Corinthians, 2 Corinthians 1, 11a. 2 Corinthians. Matthew, Mark, Luke, come on, you're almost there. 2 Corinthians, chapter one, 11a. Hey brother John, what's a? Soldier, first part of the verse. The first part of the verse, Stephen. Read it with me. Ye also helping together by prayer for us, us. Team play, team play, team play, I love it. It's always team play. No man is an island. I'm reading the book of Philippians right now, it's so fascinating. Us, us, you, you, you, you, you. You see, that's what's so thrilling, the family of God. Every single solitary person in the house of God is important. Those priceless children here in the front row, these little girls, this young giant at the end who's praying to be bigger than his dad, brothers, and everybody else, and he's only 10 years old. You got a birthday, but your birthday's soon, all right? So you can soon say, I'm 11, all right? Everybody counts. There's nobody unimportant in the house of God today. I don't care what your status, structure, doesn't matter. You're equal if you're in Christ. You just have to continue growing in the things of God. I am no greater because I've been saved all these years. I'm just learning. I'm just growing. Have not apprehend. I'm not I'm not there yet. You know Paul talks about apprehending there in Corinthians. I'm just working I'm learning how to pray I'm working on this and I love this verse look what it says you write a letter to somebody say PS 2nd Corinthians 111 a Many missionaries never give you a verse of scripture in their letters. I don't know why I don't understand that brother. I just don't understand. I They have prayer requests, and some precious missionaries aren't good at bookkeeping, because every single letter is a solicitation. And I grew up without that. See, we never, forgive me, I'm just me. I grew up in a different country, but the same Bible, and I just believed God. When I went on the road, I said, Lord, you'll supply. He has to. How do I know I'm in his own, you know, if I gotta ask everybody for everything? We get some prayer letters, you know right at the beginning what's gonna go on. You start with this line, and down here, you know, he said bird seeds running out, a lot of birds in the backyard, dog food, and you know, running low on finance. Our 1933 Chevy's kind of worn out, 800,000 miles, you know. I'm glad I got saved, because I have a bad sense of humor. I have my own prayer sheet made up. You'd die if you could see it. It shows an old fossil. That's what they call me, the fossil from Fonda. I'm in my wheelchair, and I'm well in my 90s, you know, or would be then, that letter. And it says, dear loved ones, my prayer support, my finances are 50%. Brother, at 50%, I'm not gonna make it, man. Well, you didn't get that one for sure. And maybe you do your laughing on an individual basis. I don't know. Look what it says. You also helping. When you think of Brother John Crabb, give me a hand, will you? Give me a hand, son. You were so polite, sir, you came up and shook my hand. I appreciate that. You were circulating around before the service, after Sunday school. Thank you, sir. When's the last time you shook a brother's hand and said, how'd that exam go? Was it tough? I was praying for you. Man, we do it all the time. And we stand right there and do it. We prayed with a sister. She came with a wheelbarrow full of prayer requests this morning. We stopped right there in the middle and prayed. And why not? Is there something wrong with praying here in the church, obstructing traffic? Is that a crime? Yes, no. Well, then why don't you do it? Just do it. Instant in prayer. Man, not always to pray and not to faint. Do we understand that in Texas? Of course we do. But we're not used to it. So you have a problem, and I get blamed for it, for being unusual. You're the unusual one. If you keep this up, prayer is spontaneous. It's what you do when you're not talking to somebody else, you're talking to God. So she has a big list of people. And I mean, they've got problems. Incredible, this family list she has. So she says, brother, so we were right there. We prayed over it. We held it up to God. They might think we're charismatic or something. So I hauled it down real fast. Of course, the Bible does say lift holy hands. But apparently, you're not supposed to do it at a tabernacle. Oh, never mind. That wasn't nice. What's life all about? Men aren't always to pray and not to faint. Pray without ceasing. And we have that Epaphras boy. Get him in membership. He not only prays for this church, he prays for the church there, and temple, and this one, and over there at Freedom. His name is in chapter four of Colossians. That's not the message. all through the Bible. You've got Jabez's prayer. Now watch that. That boy made a lot of dollars, over 6 million copies. All Jabez wanted was a little more acreage, enlarge my coast. But I use that prayer every day under these syllables, G words. God, I want your grace, growth, guidance, and essentially godliness. It's all in the verse. It's all there. 1 Chronicles 4, 9-10, Jabez's prayer. Take it for what God gives it to be. When those disciples said to Jesus, Lord, we're doing it, but nothing's happening. Teach us to pray. He could have said, well, check out 1 Chronicles 4, 9-10. He didn't do that, David, because that's not what it was meant for, to be some rabbit's foot, that you can pray that and everything's going to happen. You know, you'll all be driving Hummers to church next Sunday. No, that's not why it's there. Now, there's a principle in hermeneutics. Now, what's hermeneutics? It's not a man's name. Hermeneutics is the law of interpreting Scripture. What principles rightly divide the word of truth? For instance, worship. Where in your Bible do you find worship for the first time, brother? You've got a man with his hired servants saying, we'll be back, we'll be back. Ike and I are going up the hill, three days up the mountainside to worship God. With a knife in his hand, he's ready to go. True worship is costly. That's a whole sermon. It's a thrill. It's beyond words. The first time you meet worship, you've got a man, Abraham, with a knife in his hand to kill his son in dedication to God by obedience. And when God knew his belief, he's, ah, don't do it. And at the same time, Abraham and Ike are coming up the hill, the ram's coming up the other side. Mark it down, God always works at both ends of the line. It's marvelous. So now we have a ram, we're all set to go. God was just testing, brother. That's worship. The first time you find worship in the Bible, the men's quintet was not singing. First time the word is used. We're going up the hill to worship. And I take that as it is. And we follow worship all through scripture. And David says, no, I'm not. I'll pay for it. I shall not offer unto the Lord that which cost me nothing. Come on, man, how much? I'll write the check. A question. How costly is your worship? Those three Gentiles, who said there were three? Well, there were three wives. You can't prove that. Don't buy into that, we three kings of Oriadar. You don't know that. There was an entourage. They came hundreds of miles, hundreds of miles, with three strange baby gifts, gold, frankincense, and myrrh. We've come to worship We've come to worship. Remember Mary in Bible study with Martha, with Martha Stewart? Brother, why don't you laugh loudly? He just puts his head, I watch you. See, he thinks that's hilarious. He caught that. Most of you never caught that. He caught that. Now he's shaking his head. He didn't want, you know, he's laughing in church. Well, how do you know her last name wasn't Stewart? It was Martha. You've left me alone. Oh, her mascara's running. Oh, she's a fit. Why? She's having a big dinner. In the meantime, her sister's in the Florida room with Bible study from a rabbi, the Lord Jesus, a privilege women never had. And the next time you find Mary, Another party, Martha had big parties. She went up to the bedroom and took that beautiful vase off the bureau. It was worth a whole year's paycheck. What was on line seven, sir, of your paycheck, your April 15th form, line seven? A whole year's paycheck, sir. That was the value. No one in their right mind would give a year's salary. She did. What did she do with it? In the Bible study, he told her, I'm going to die. Do your giving while you're living so you're knowing where it's going. You don't accrue spiritual blessings by leaving money after you're dead. That's nonsense. If you've got it, give it." And she gave a year's paycheck on his feet. It's called worship, or maybe you want to call it wonderful waste. She learned all that in Bible study, and so will you. first mentioned principles. Follow worship through Scripture. True worship is costly. Say that with me please. True worship is costly. Now I dare you do the second line. Do I really know how to worship? Do I? Lord, is my worship costly? You're getting kind of weak. Playing games? Oh, not at our church. Says who? Now, let's take a brief message on prayer. It is now sheep military watch. It can't be that early. Turn in your Bible, please, to the first mention of a man praying, Genesis. Chapter 18. Now wait, I've got to get something straight. Is it almost half past 12? What are you folks still doing here? Our church is out by this time at home. Am I allowed to stay? I'm just getting going. What time are they having groceries? All right. I won't get back here again, I can tell you that much. Bye. Blessed New Year. Man alive. All right, I'll go quickly. How can you go quickly? Come on. Genesis 18, 20. Because the cry of No, you're kidding. No, I'm not kidding. Sodom and Gomorrah is great because their sin is very grievous. And God is eternal, and God knows everything. And look at this in the next verse. This is incredible. God says, I know what it is, but I'm going down to check it out. I will go down now and see. It can't be that bad. Do you get the picture? If you don't, I'm sorry. God is eternal. God is omniscient. He knows everything about Sodom and Gomorrah. He knows every thought you think. You can't think a thought that he does not think. He knows what it is before you think the thought. He knew her diary in chapter four of John. He said, get your husband. Oh, well, I, a little blush on her face. I don't have any marriage responsibilities. I don't have a husband. He said, thank you for telling the truth. Always be nice to people when you're bringing them to Christ. You understand? Watch the soul winner in John chapter four, how he deals with this woman who's got five wedding dresses hung in the closet. You've been married once. You've been married five times. He knows my diary. He knows everything I wrote." And knowing that, he had said to her, I've got a present for you, but not a wedding present. I know you're dating number six and you think I'm number seven. She doesn't know who he is. How do you cross cultural barriers? She's the lowest rung of society. Could I please have your cup for a drink of water? Want to bring a soul to Christ that you can't reach, incorrigible? Ask Him to do something for you. Make the contact. It's terrific. Watch the master soul winner. He knew everything about her. and still had a provision for her inner life. Salvation is the inner life. Jesus Christ, living water. I want it, I want it, I want it. I'll go down now and see. 23, we'll move very quickly. Abraham drew near and said, No, you won't, you can't. Wilt thou destroy the righteous with the wicked? There's some born again people there. No, I won't. All right, if there's 50. 45, verse 28. Look what he says in 27. Lord, Lord, ooh, I'm dust and ashes. 45, 45, next verse, 29, 40. Verse 30, 30, put those numbers in your margin. Now 31, Lord, per adventure, 20, 20? Lord, don't be angry. I'll speak one more time, one more time. Per adventure, 10. Look at me quickly. Be keen, be alert, be alive. What are we teaching? The Bible. We're teaching prayer. This is the first time a human being on earth prays, goes to the golden altar of intercession for a homosexual city. Now, how do you like that? How does that fit? Oh, no, that's not right. Pastor, where'd you get him? Always blame a pastor for things. Have I read the Bible to you, yes or no? Is your Bible the same as mine, yes or no? Yes or no? Is Abraham interceding for a homosexual city, yes or no? Yes or no? Yes or no? Can you find prayer in your Bible before this, yes or no? No, you don't know. Because you don't know your Bibles like you should. There you are, guilty. And you thought you were so great. The sin of pride, it's not there. You think I'm going to come to you and give a message that's not true from Scripture. This is, in your Bible, the first time we find a man interceding for people, others. Take it for what it is. It's God's Word. San Francisco, understand English? Understand geography? When you hear the word San Francisco, what pops up on the screen of your mind? Say it. Somebody say it out loud. Absolutely. Not just there, but you know. We're human beings. New Orleans. Mardi Gras. Fond of New York, where I live. A fossil. All right, all right. And the raceway. Now, you're not believing this. You're just sitting there. with your brains in neutral. He says, hello, I'm saying goodbye. You're not getting the message. You want a message on prayer. The first time a man prays in the Bible, he prays for Sodom and Gomorrah. Do you believe that or not? You don't believe it. You're sitting there paralyzed. You're afraid to say yes, you're afraid of each other. Is this true or not? Is it intercession, yes or no? Anybody go from 50, 45, 40, 30, 20, 10. He's desperate, he's in earnest. That's a lot more than you are. You just sit, you soak, and you sour. And some of you folk are very sour. And there's nothing smells worse than a sour believer. This is the truth of God's word. If I'm wrong, show me. He's still praying anyway. If you can come up with 17 other references to prayer, go right ahead. Teach me. Teach me, Lord. Turn the page. Chapter 32. 32, 24. Jacob, I trust you know this all. We love you dearly. I'm honored to be here. Revive your prayer life to get serious for street people, for street walkers. He must needs go through Samaria. No one in their right human mind will go into that country. The Jews had a wonderful way of bypassing Samaria up to Galilee. You simply did not. If you accidentally rub shoulders, your robe, your toga, your gown, rub shoulders next to another person in the market, you go home and dry clean the thing. Why would you touch the Samaritan? Jewish boys don't date Samaritan girls. Jewish Samaritan women never even went to the well with her. It's 110 degrees, Israel gets hot. And she's there alone, why? Because no decent Samaritan woman would go there when she went. She is the lowest rung of society. Look what it says. He must needs go through Samaria. What does must mean? What does it mean? All right. Must means must. Say that. Got to do it. It's called the woman at the well. It's not. That's not the title. The real title is the man at the well. She'd still be coming with her empty... Think! Get the true picture. Don't get secondhand titles. I don't like secondhand anything. The man at the well. If you knew the gift of God. Here's something for soul wedding techniques. Friend, I just came by to tell you, God has a gift for you. That's how he did it. What's 623? Say it, for the wages of sin is but the louder. There you go. The gift of God. Thank you, sir. That prioritizes, makes exclusive the gift. Sit down. with the author, his name is Jesus, and read John 4 slowly. Watch every step. It's incredible. Oh, that kind, whoo! Genesis 32, 24, Jacob left alone. Night scenes in Scripture, pastor, there's a whole series for you, night scenes. Now watch this, they're wrestled, a man, with him until the breaking of the day. The detail, please forgive me, please forgive me. You know the story, you know it so well. This is the Lord Jesus Christ. This is Theophanes. This is the Old Testament appearance of Christ, and he's wrestling two men. Now, when you get to Jerusalem, go to the postcard store, you don't expect to find any postcards of Sodom and Gomorrah. There never were any. There never are going to be any. All we have left is all that ash. It's there, all right? You're not going to find a picture of Jacob wrestling with Jesus. They're alone. A battle rages, rages. You've got your sneakers scraping the dirt, your sandals. Wrestling. Look what happens. When he saw, he prevailed not against him. God touched the hollow of Jacob's thigh. And the hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint as he wrestled with God. Mark that down, underline it. Jacob wrestles with God. He's praying. Look, Mom, Dad's walking funny. Now that's strange. That's exactly how he walked thereafter when he joined the family. Look, Mom, Dad's walking funny. He's limping. Sermon title, The Man with a Limp. How'd he get the limp? He prayed, and he said, I'm not leaving until you bless me. Look down here. 26, let me go, says God. No, no, I'll wrestle with you, and I'm gonna win. I'm not going anywhere, neither are you, until you bless me. Now, how are you gonna interpret that practically? I said to Dan, Pastor had prayer for Dan today, 23 years old, precious brother. Now, Dan's going to have to make up his mind right away, Pastor, if you're going to sign up for four more years. Now, if he goes for four more years, that means the work of God's delayed four more years. How many people died and went to hell in Nineveh before Jonah got straightened up? Just think about that. Just think. He's out there doing his thing, sleeping. Folk are going to hell in Nineveh till Jonah gets there. And then you have the most colossal evangelistic meeting ever held on planet Earth. Ninevites, oh, police, police. Sodomites, Ninevites, come on, get the picture. Ever studied the life of the Ninevite nation? Oh, police. Violence, vehemence, more than you can understand. They'd stack up the bones, you're next. Cut off the heads, stack them up, make a pyramid. They repented, and God saved them. Even though, what's his name, is pretty nasty. Exceedingly angry. I will not let thee go except thou bless me. Look at the heart of the matter, 27. What's your name? My name is supplanter. My name is cheat. My name is shyster. Uh-oh, that'll never do. Get your husband. God always deals with sin. Gonna leave it right there. You won't get to first base in prayer till sin is dealt with. Won't get to first base. What's your name? Where's your husband? Oh, I'm not married now. I mean, I mean, I mean, I never was, you know. Now watch this, we're going to get on point number, the last one, be gone. Thy name shall no more be called Jacob. Every time you watch the news, Israel. See, it all started here. Brother, this is where Israel, the nation started. So when you watch TV, oh, Israel, what's next? They get Yasser Arafat yet? You're gonna be called Israel. As a prince, thou has power with God and with men. You won, hast prevailed, put in your margin God. Jacob wrestled with God, and guess who won? Son, who won, God or Jacob? Say it, nice and loud. Louder, louder. Jacob. Who won? Why? Because he persisted in prayer. He prevailed. He says, no, you're not going anywhere. Thigh or no thigh, pain or no pain, I don't care. And his sweat was, as it were, to the ground. Now who wants that kind of prayer? Now I lay me down to sleep. I pray the Lord, you know that one, my soul to keep. If I should die before, next word, I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take. That's 21st century. I learned that way back before you were born, or there was even a Killeen, Texas. Told you, praying's hard work. Interested? One more, just for a minute, just for a minute. Oh, good night. Soldier, sorry, it'll taste better. The longer you wait, the better it tastes. Let's, Matthew 15 for a moment. Matthew 15, verse 21. You say, I can't stop, that's my problem. How do you stop? When's the last time you went to a football game and said, oh, wait a minute, good night, this thing's going over an hour and a half, I'm outta here. You know. Oh no. Now this is strange. Anybody a geography major here? I'm serious question, polite. Anybody here love geography? Really, you do. I hope I can get one question in Texas that someone's going to say yes to. I mean, it's really, you know, I don't know what to say to you. Got to be something here in Texas. Somebody help me with something. I don't know. I'm losing it all. Then Jesus went thence and departed into southern Lebanon. He's gone out of the country, brother. Out of the country. Tyre and Sidon. And behold, a woman of Canaan came. Oh, have mercy on me, oh Lord, thou son of David. Uh-oh, put in your margin, question mark. Is she trying to pretend she's a Jewess? She's using Jewish terminology. Arabs don't, my wife was, Arabs don't talk this way. She's faking it. I know she is, she's an actress. Ah, but she's a mother. And she says, my daughter, my daughter is grievously vexed with a demon. And he ignored her. Oh, the story here is marvelous. We don't have time. Good night, the disciples say, Lord, get rid of her. She's driving us crazy. Her neighbor said, woman, what do you think you're going to do? She says, I know Hebrew. I know Hebrew. And he won't know the difference. And I'm going to say the right Jewish words. I'm going to say, thou son of David, do something for me. That'll get him going for sure. Look, you got the wrong race. You got the wrong religion. Come on. Jewish men aren't going to talk to you. What's wrong with you? They've got respectability." He heard not a word. The disciples said, Lord, it's time. It's time. She's driving us crazy. 25, Lord, help me. And he said, can't do it. I can't take the children's meat. bread, cast it to dogs. What he said, now you know this, don't you? You do know this. Jews called you a dog. Nasty, naughty words. Every Gentile, any Jews here, are there any Jews with any Jewish blood at all in this place tonight? You don't agree to anything. A Jewish man would wake up in the morning and say, thank God I'm not a Gentile, or a woman, or a dog. They called Gentiles dogs. And Jesus uses a word here for puppy dog. Little play thing. Look at this, look at this. This is the heart of the matter. This is prayer. Lord, help me. Lord, my daughter, she got a demon. A mother, on Mother's Day. Jesus said, can't do it. I can't give Jewish bread to Gentiles. She said, that's all right. That's all right. Look, look, look. Truth, Lord, truth, Lord, truth. But Lord, Lord, those little dogs in the house, they're all over the place. They eat the crumbs which come from the master's table. no paper towels, pieces of bread, wipe your greasy hands on the floor. Here come the dogs. Okay. I'm a dog. It's all right. I'm a dog. Fine. Fine. 28. Oh woman, great as I faith, you just shut my mouth. Your daughter's healed. You don't believe that, do you? Fairytale, right? It's true. She won. He wanted to try her faith in every way possible. Abraham, Dad, we got all the stuff. Where's the lamb? Son, God will provide Himself. Sister himself is Jesus. Check all the himself words in Scripture, New Testament. You'll be shocked at how often they refer to Jesus. Jacob, no, I won't let you go until you bless me. I've lived in agony for over 20 years since I left home, looking over my shoulder all the time to find Esau. And he's coming now with 400 troops with their Hummers. Now you're going to do something for me. New name, new day, new way, new walk, Israel. He won. She won. And she wasn't even Jewish. She was like us, pure pagan Gentile. It's okay, I don't mind being a little dog. I don't mind at all. Dogs eat their crumbs from Jewish tables. I'm in there. That's prayer. Our simple little message was stories you all knew. I wanna pray with you now, please. And thank you for your, forgive me for being late. And if you need to come for prayer, you come out of the seat right now for prayer. Maybe you need to dedicate yourself to prayer. Some of you haven't learned how to pray. You need to and you want to. All right. What's God saying to your life, sir? Lord, teach me to pray. Don't play games. Son, get both knees down. You got it, son. Love you. Get both knees down. Don't curtsy to God. Don't curtsy to God. Don't you do it. Don't you do it. I'm not mean. I'm just an old man who wants you to do things right. Sometimes you got to get your feet, your face right on the floor. Italian brother, bless you, sir. What a blessing this Italian man is. I come from Italian territory. I can spot him a mile away. Lord, I confess I don't know how to pray. Is that how you want to pray? Lord, I confess I don't know how to pray. I mean, a little bit, Lord, but not like I should. Brother John, are we supposed to do it like that? Get all worked up and persist all night in prayer? Impossible. Good night. Father, what can I say? I just gave him your word. That's all I know how to do. That's all I can say. And what you do with it, or rather what they permit you to do with it, who am I? Teach me to pray. This kind comes by prayer and fasting. I'm getting there, Lord, slowly, the fasting part. One last thing. Friend, who is Jesus Christ and where is Jesus Christ? Jesus Christ is God, and He wants to live in your life. If you're not saved, that desire within you is the work of God's Holy Spirit. You're lost, sir. You are, at this moment, condemned. The wrath of God abides upon you. You're cursed. Those ugly words are from Scripture. We wouldn't say them unless God said them. Knowing the terror of the Lord, we persuade men. Friend, come to Christ as you are, as a sinner. Hold back nothing, sir. Hold back nothing. Please don't hold back. Say, Lord God, I want to be saved on your terms, on your terms. I'm unholy. I am lost. I want Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. I want His precious blood to cleanse my sins. I want Him in my life. I know what I'm doing. I want Jesus Christ to save me. I receive Him and His gift, eternal life. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Please let us know that you have been saved. Please come. We care. We care deeply.
