Good evening. It's all about the cross, isn't it? That's what it always comes down to. We talk about, you know, people get turned out of the way, turned aside, ride a hobby horse into the ditch, all that type of stuff. It's when you don't make the main thing the main thing, and it's all about Jesus Christ dying on that cross. All right, let's see, I've been going through Old Testament types, pictures. Tonight is no different. If you would, get the book of John chapter five and Exodus 32. John chapter five, Exodus 32. All right, let's pray. Heavenly Father, thank You for Your goodness, Your mercy, Your love. God, thank You for sending Your Son to die on the cross for our sins. Help us to keep it ever before us. God, thank You for this book. Pray that you'd help us now as we study it, as we look to it. God, help us to see you, help us to see the truth, to love the truth. God, we thank you for all this. Pray that you'd help us now in Jesus' name. Amen. All right, John chapter 5, beginning with verse number 39. John chapter 5. in verse number 39. The Bible says, this is, if you have a red-letter Bible, these are the words of Jesus Christ, search the Scriptures, for in them ye think ye have eternal life, and they are they which testify of me. Now, when Jesus Christ said this, the only Scriptures they had was the Old Testament. Keep going, just go down to verse number 45, same chapter, verse 45. Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father. There is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom you trust. For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me, for he wrote of me. But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words? So we see there, Jesus Christ says very clearly what Moses wrote was about Jesus Christ. This whole book from beginning to end is about Jesus Christ. And we wanna bring him honor and glory and just see him in this book. I think here in Exodus chapter 32, if you turn there, we'll see a great picture of the Lord Jesus Christ in Moses. That's what he's talking about, right? When he says, Moses wrote of me, Moses never wrote the words or the letters J-E-S-U-S. He wrote the scripture and the scripture very plainly details the life of Jesus Christ. Exodus chapter 32, verse number one, the Bible says, and when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, Moses is up on a mountain with God. This is in physical history, this was Mount Sinai where God delivered the law to Moses and Moses brought it to the people. But Moses is up there on this mountain with God, with Jehovah. And I just wanna point out some parts of scripture here, show about his life in this particular section. Look back to Exodus 24. Exodus chapter 24, just turn a few chapters there. Exodus chapter 24 and verse number 12, the Bible says, and the Lord said unto Moses, come up to me into the Mount and be there. I like that. What does he got to do? He's got to be there. Just be there. But this is, what is this? This is God and Moses together on the mountain. They're in fellowship one with another. Keep going, the Bible says, verse 12, come up to me into the mount and be there and I will give thee tables of stone and a law and commandments which I have written that thou mayest teach them. Verse number 13, the Bible says, And Moses rose up, and his minister Joshua, and Moses went up into the mount of God. And he said unto the elders, Tarry ye here for us, until we come again unto you. And behold, Aaron and her are with you. If any man have any matters to do, let him come unto them. And Moses went up into the mount, and a cloud covered the mount, and the glory of the Lord abode upon Mount Sinai. So here's God on this mountain, and on that mountain is his glory right there. God is there in his glory. Moses comes up to that mountain. He's there with God in that glory. The Bible says, "...and the glory of the Lord abode upon Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days. And the seventh day He called unto Moses out of the midst of the cloud, and the sight of the glory of the Lord was like the devouring fire on the top of the mountain in the eyes of the children of Israel." What a sight that would have been to see. And Moses went up into the midst of the cloud and get him up into the mount. And Moses was in the mount 40 days and 40 nights. So here Moses is up there with God and we see he's in fellowship with God. He's up just up there in the glory with God. God said to just be there, but he's going to do something. He's going to give him words as we saw. He's going to give him commandments as we saw. Look at Exodus 25, Exodus chapter 25. And the Bible says is in verse number one, and the Lord spake unto Moses saying, and of course, God continues to give Moses all these words, all these commandments, all these judgments, all these statutes. Look over to Exodus chapter 30. Exodus chapter 30, God's giving commandment and law and judgment and statute. In verse 22, the Bible says, moreover, God had more to say. Moreover, the Lord spake unto Moses, saying. And so he's giving him more scripture, more words, more Bible. And so we see here in Moses, Moses is up there with God. God is giving Moses words. God is giving Moses commandments. God is giving Moses judgments that he's gonna bring to the people. Keep Exodus. Let's go to the book of John. Let's compare that with the book of John. Chapter 14. John chapter 14. Book of John. Chapter 14, verse number 23, Jesus answered and said unto him, if a man love me, he will keep my words, and my father will love him, and we will come unto him and make our bode with him. He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings, and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the father's which sent me. See, Jesus Christ was up there in glory. in fellowship with the Father. And what was the Father doing? Giving Him the words, giving Him the commandments. The origin was from the Father. John chapter 15, look at this. Now, if you're confused, listen, we believe the Trinity, Jesus Christ is the Word, the Word, the Father, the Spirit, they are all one. We can spend a whole nother time on that, but we're looking at pictures here. We gotta get back in the lesson. John chapter 15. John chapter 15, the Bible says, verse 14, Jesus Christ got the words from the Father and He's giving that to the people. We saw that in Moses' life. Let's go back to Exodus chapter 32. Exodus chapter 32, verse number one. The Bible says, when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, people gathered themselves together unto Aaron. and said unto him, up, make us gods, which shall go before us. For as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we what not what is become of him. If you haven't heard preaching against the modern church out of Exodus 32, I'm gonna help you out. But you need to hear preaching on the modern church out of Exodus 32. First of all, what do we see? We see Aaron, what's he doing? Sitting. They said, up, up, make us gods. which shall go before us. I'm gonna help you out, I'm gonna help you out. Like Brother James said on Sunday morning last week, Brother David was doing the work without pay. Brother Kyle, doing the work without pay, before you can get any kind of position in the church with pay. I don't know why, maybe people thought I was anti-missionary. I'm not anti-missionary, I'm anti-moochinary. If you're not gonna do it here for God, why would I give you money to go somewhere else and not do what you're not doing here? Aaron's kicking back, man, hanging out. This is, that's the life. That's the life, man, hanging out, doing nothing. And then somebody said, up, make us gods. Up, make us gods. Can you believe that? There is a mountain on fire. And they're like, yeah, we don't know about Moses. We need something we can see, like something we can touch, you know, something that doesn't say thou shalt not. I mean, it makes me feel bad inside. You know, we don't wanna have a church where a preacher preaches the Bible. That makes me feel bad. That's what we need. That's what we need. And so verse two, and Aaron said unto them, give me some money. Ooh. Listen, you think I'm joking. This is the modern church. This is, it is about money. When I was lost, you know, we're growing up out in the world, whenever people would talk about church, they'd be, oh, they just want your money. That rock and roll band outfit, yeah, that's what it's about. They want your money. They want to get more people to throw five bucks in the offering plate. So if we can get 10,000 people for a rock concert, man, we can just kick back and do nothing. That's what's going on. Aaron said unto them, break off the golden earrings, which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons. Now, I mean, that's good for him. And of your daughters, and bring them unto me. You see that? Aaron's like, come on, come on, give me the money. But you know what? God's people, you know what, they'll do the work for, it's for God. It's about God. It's to please God. But Aaron, he sat down until somebody was gonna pay him. What kind of ministry you got? Just think about that. Verse number three, and all the people break off the golden earrings. What in the world? People won't give money to build a new building, but man Netflix asks you for 10 bucks They won't have a problem with Netflix movie theater asked you for 20 bucks. They don't have a problem giving them 20 bucks What in the world people just gladly oh, yeah, you want to make a golden calf here take all my gold Other churches, you know, they say You're Your deceased husband is in purgatory and we need to pray for him, but. Devour widow's houses looking for money. Verse number four, and he received them at their hand and fashioned it with a graving tool after he had made it a molten calf. And they said, these be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. And when Aaron saw it, because you know, he's like trying to still make it about the Lord, he built an altar before it. Sounds, I mean, like there's something in the Bible about altars, right? And Aaron made a proclamation and said, tomorrow is a feast to the Lord. It is, see, it's about God. You could put Jesus on a bottle of vodka, it doesn't make it Christian. You could put Jesus, the Lord, on a golden calf. It ain't about the Lord. This rock and roll band outfit, man. Oh, we just wanna worship Him. It's all about Him. It ain't about Him. It ain't about Him. It's about me feeling good. That's what it's about. All right, verse number six, we gotta move on. And they rose up early on the morrow and offered offerings and brought peace offerings And the people sat down to eat and drink and rose up to play. 1 Corinthians 10, you're an idolater. Verse number seven, and the Lord said unto Moses, go, get thee down. So this is great. Here we have Moses up there on the mountain with God. We're getting back to the picture here. Moses in fellowship with God. Moses receiving commandment, words, judgment, statutes from God. He's gonna bring to the people, the people are in sin and God sends him. Go, he said. go, that is, to send. God sent Moses. Take a look at Matthew chapter 10. Let's go there. Matthew chapter 10. Keep Exodus 32, Matthew chapter 10. Matthew chapter 10, verse number 40 Matthew chapter 10 verse 40. He that receiveth you Receive with me and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me Sent by the Father look at John chapter 5. Let's go there John chapter 5 go back over there John chapter number 5 and verse number John 5, verse 30, I can of mine own self do nothing as I hear I judge and my judgment is just because I seek not mine own will but the will of the Father which hath sent me. John 5, look at verse 36, but I have greater witness than that of John for the works which the Father hath given me to finish the same works that I do bear witness of me that the Father hath sent me. Jesus Christ was sent by the Father. Moses up there on that mountain, the people are down in sin. God sent Moses down to the people. Let's go back, Exodus chapter 32. Verse number seven, the Bible says, And the Lord said unto Moses, Go, get thee down for thy people. which thou broughtest out of the land of Egypt have corrupted themselves. They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them. They have made them a molten calf and have worshiped it and have sacrificed thereunto and said, these be thy gods, O Israel, which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. And the Lord said unto Moses, I have seen this people and behold, it is a stiff necked people. Before we read verse 10, most people out in the world living in sin are like totally clueless to the fact that God is angry with the wicked every day. They live oblivious to the fact that they are that close to hell. And I believe the Bible. I believe the Bible. I think we're in a Bible-believing crowd. We've got a Bible-believing church. The Bible does say God is love. That is true. But the Bible also says our God is a consuming fire. This same God is angry with the wicked every day. He's going to take vengeance and seek justice for all the evil and the unrighteousness that goes on every day. These people have made themselves a golden calf after what just happened in Egypt, by the way. You would think, how could you do that? As a mountain is burning on fire, And every single day, there's a pillar of cloud. Every single night, pillar of fire. Just don't care. People living in them, righteousness, and they know that there's something inside of them. There's a God that made them. God doesn't want them to do those things, but they just carry on. Carry on like nothing's gonna matter, but verse number 10, look at this. Now therefore, let me alone that my wrath may wax hot against them and that I may consume them. And I will make of thee a great nation. God would have destroyed them were it not for Moses. So I think it's fair to say God hates sin. God hates unrighteousness. And these people running around dancing naked around a golden calf, God was angry, willing to destroy them. But Moses, look at this, verse 11, and Moses besought the Lord his God. and said, Lord, why did thy wrath wax hot against thy people which thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand? Why should the Egyptians speak and say for mischief did he bring them out to slay them in the mountains to consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from thy fierce wrath and repent of this evil against thy people. Moses stepped in to prevent those people from being destroyed. And the Bible makes this phrase, it says, the lamb which was slain from the foundation of the world. Now, we are not Calvinists. We do not believe that God chose certain people before the foundation of the world to go to heaven, some to go to hell. That's nowhere in the Bible. We study the Bible. What we see is clearly from that verse of Scripture, is that Jesus Christ, when Adam sinned, wherefore is by one man's sin entered into the world and death by sin. And so death passed upon all men for that all have sinned. The moment Adam sinned, God said, Genesis chapter two, he should die. God said that that man should die that very day. That should be the end of it. But the word stepped in. He said, But consider, you made them in your own image. You made them in your own image. I will lay down my life for them. That's the lamb that was slain from the foundation of the world. When Adam sinned against God and should have brought death and destruction to himself, the Lord stepped in. We see that here in Moses' life. God the Father was willing to destroy all these people for their evil, for their unrighteousness, but Moses stepped in. Verse 13, remember, Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, thy servants, to whom thou swearest by thine own self, and saidst unto them, I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of will I give unto your seed, and they shall inherit it forever. And the Lord repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people. God turned from destroying His people because Moses stepped in. And I think God turned from destroying the human race because the Word stepped in, offered Himself to die in the place of all mankind. Look at verse number 15, and Moses turned, and look at this, went down from the mount. The Bible says that Jesus Christ condescended. that Jesus Christ was made in the likeness of men, took upon him the form of a servant made in the likeness of men. Jesus Christ, God manifested in a body of flesh. God became man. God stooped down from heaven, from glory, from worship, from praise, from adoration. We're around the throne all the time. Holy, holy, holy Lord God Almighty, here is Jesus Christ, or the word up in heaven, receiving all that honor, all that glory. And you know what he did? He said, I'm gonna set that aside, and I'm gonna go down there for that. So Moses comes down off this mountain. Jesus Christ came down from heaven, down into the manger, lifted up on the cross temporarily, then down, down into the heart of the earth where Jesus Christ was for three days and three nights before he rose from the dead. Praise be to God that he came down for us. We see that in Moses here. Moses left where he was up in, Moses in fellowship with God on a mountain of fire comes down for these people. Look at verse number 16, verse 15. And Moses turned and went down from the mount, and the two tables of the testimony were in his hand, I guess one hand. The tables were written on both their sides, on the one side and on the other were they written. And the tables were the work of God. And the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables. And when Joshua heard the noise of the people, as they shouted, he said unto Moses, there is a noise of war in the camp. You know, whatever they're banging on in the modern church. Hey, look at what he says. Verse 18, and he said, it is not the voice of them that shout for mastery, neither is it the voice of them that cry for being overcome, but the noise of them that sing do I hear. And it came to pass as soon as he came nigh unto the camp that he saw the calf, and the dancing, it's always worse than you think it is. And Moses' anger waxed hot and he cast the tables out of his hand and break them beneath the mount. Now this is Moses, this is Moses in this situation. He sees these people, like you read later, they're naked dancing around a golden calf. You think, how can you do this with God right there? It would appear anger, frustration, shock. He breaks those tables of stone and you say, don't worry, God knows what he said. You know, people all the time. We believe the Bible is true in the originals. You don't have them. Nobody's got them. Nobody has one. Hasn't had one for millennia. And so here's Moses. He's got the original and he breaks it. You say, man, that's really bad. But what is this in picture? Right? What do we see in picture? Look at Hebrews chapter 7. Keep Exodus 32. Hebrews chapter 7 and Romans 10 while you're passing by. Romans chapter 10. Hebrews chapter 7, Romans 10, Hebrews 7. They all agree, we don't put one book away for the tribulation. Truth for the one body, Hebrews chapter 7. Hebrews chapter 7, verse number 19, the Bible says for the law, could save you if it was before Christ. No, wait, I'm sorry. Verse 19, for the law made nothing perfect. But the bringing in of a better hope did by the which we draw nigh unto God. The law couldn't make anything perfect. The law could tell you you're a sinner, and you're a sinner, and you're a sinner, and I'm a sinner. That's all it could do. All it could do was tell us that we're sinners. All it could do was point out our sin, magnify our sin. Hebrews or Romans chapter 10, Romans chapter 10, let's go there. It can't save you from your sin. It just pointed out your sin. What does the Bible say? Your schoolmaster to bring you to Christ, that you could see how unrighteous you really are. Romans chapter 10. The Bible says, verse number three, For they, being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness. to everyone that believeth. So you know what we see in Jesus Christ? He comes down from that mount and he says, you couldn't keep that law and you couldn't keep that law and you couldn't keep that law. Acts chapter 15 says that it was a yoke that no man could bear. And what'd he do? Break those commandments. Now Jesus Christ didn't break the commandments, like violate them. But what did he do? We're putting an end to that. You say, really, did he do that? Colossians 2. I keep going back to Exodus. Colossians 2, let's go there. Colossians 2. Oh man, we should go to 2 Corinthians 3 also. I feel led to go there. chapter 2. Watch what the Bible says, Colossians chapter 2, verse number… 13, and you being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, have he, Jesus Christ, quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses, blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, that's the law, which was contrary to us, took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross. He took that law as that nail was coming down his hand. He said, how'd he do that? He's God, he can do that. He just slipped that law right behind that nail and just slipped that other table right behind that other nail, took that law, which you couldn't keep, which I couldn't keep, which no one has ever kept, and he got it nailed to the cross. And that blood just covered it all up. Look at, Second Corinthians. I keep going back to the Old Testament. We're not ready yet. People think that I'm crazy when I say this stuff. Second Corinthians chapter three, verse number six. Second Corinthians chapter three, verse number six, the Bible says, who also hath made us able ministers of the New Testament. That being there's an old, right? We have a new, there was old. Not of the letter, but of the spirit for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life. But if the ministration of death written and engraven in stones, what do we think we're talking about? Was glorious. We're not saying the law was bad. We're not saying the law was unrighteous. We're just saying that that law brought death. And we're looking for life. The Bible says, For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory." What did we have in the law? Condemnation. You are a sinner. You have sinned. What do we have in the New Testament? Righteousness. I am declared righteous. I have imputed righteousness. I am justified in the eyes of God because of my faith in Jesus Christ. And the Bible says, let's see, verse number 10, for even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect by reason of the glory that exceleth. New Testament versus the old verse number 11 for if that which is done away Was glorious We don't do feast days anymore. We don't do worry about dietary law I don't worry about whether I've got cotton and whether I've got linen mixed in there polyester and all that other Nonsense, man, if I can wear it it fits and looks good. It's okay, you know Nice, you know not Junk special for the house of the Lord and and you know what if I can eat it if I can receive it with Thanksgiving Every creature of God is good That's what it says, for if that which is done away, I'm not worried about trying to live in a booth for a week out in the parking lot. The Bible says for that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious. See Moses came down from that mount. Moses comes down from that mount with those tables. He breaks those tables, Moses still there. Jesus Christ, He's all in the Old Testament. Though we're not doing that anymore, He's still here. He is that which remaineth. He is going to remain forever. He continueth ever. Jesus Christ, because He ain't gonna die again. Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. All right, let's go back to Exodus chapter 32. Exodus chapter 32 verse number 20, and he took the calf. See, he didn't take the sinner, he took the sin. And he took the calf, which they had made, and burnt it in the fire, and ground it to powder, and strawed it upon the water, and made the children of Israel drink of it. That's some man right there. Verse 21, and Moses said unto Aaron, what did this people unto thee? You would think they put a gun to his head, but the gold draws a lot of people. All right, we got to keep going. Verse 25, when Moses saw that the people were naked, for Aaron had made them naked under their shame among their enemies. Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp and said, who is on the Lord's side? Look at this. Let Him come unto me. Keep Exodus 32, look at Matthew 11, John 7. Matthew chapter 11, John chapter 7. Moses stood in the gate of the camp and said, Who is on the Lord's side? Let him come unto me. Matthew chapter 11, verse number 28. Come unto me. Come unto me. All ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn of me for I am meek and lowly in heart and you shall find rest under your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Jesus Christ, when he came down, he said, come unto me. Come unto me. Look at John chapter seven, John chapter seven, verse number 37. The Bible says, in the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried saying, if any man thirst, let him come unto me and drink. Come unto me. See that call? Now, I think it's also good, Jesus Christ, John 14, he said, you believe in God, believe also in me. that some people have to get this. Lots of people say they believe in God, but it's not enough to just believe in God. We were out on Operation Samaria, and this big guy comes out. We're just holding signs, busy intersection, and comes out from the steakhouse, you know. What do you think you're doing out here? What good do you think you're making your family stand out here in the cold to hold these signs? I'm telling people about Jesus Christ. We want them to know the truth. And, you know, we get arguing. We got him to the resurrection. He's like, how do you even know that's real? How do you even know Jesus Christ rose from the dead? And as the words came out of his mouth, that he said, just cause somebody wrote it down, I asked the question, do you believe George Washington was president? And you could see the gears in his mind grinding to a halt. And he like realizes the trap he's in, sits there for like 30 seconds, I don't know, I wasn't there. Okay, you don't know George Washington was president? I'll tell you how I know George Washington was president. Somebody wrote it down. So that's how I know Jesus Christ rose from death. Anyway, so he's like, I believe in God. I just, I don't believe in Jesus and I don't believe in the Bible and I don't believe in organized religion. So I turn to James chapter two. Thou believest in one God, thou doest well. The devil also believes he was done. I mean, ran off, wouldn't say another word to me. I was like, wait, at least take a track. It's not enough to just believe in God. Moses didn't say, Moses didn't say, who is on the Lord's side, go to the mountain. He didn't say, who is on the Lord's side, get to the real altar. He said, come unto me. Come unto me, Jesus Christ. He said, come unto me. It's not enough to just believe in God. You need Jesus Christ. Exodus chapter 32. This is a blessing, Exodus 32. You know what happened? Moses comes down from this mountain. He breaks those tables of stone. He gets rid of that golden calf. He makes this call, come unto me. And everyone that came had a sword. The sword of the spirit, which is the word of God. You know what you got equipped with? Say, where'd they get the sword? They were just dancing naked. Where'd they get the sword? In pictures, see that? See how God leaves out details and puts in certain details? So you can see Jesus Christ in all of this. So here they are, they've been dancing naked, they hear this call, he gets rid of the calf, they go to Moses, and now they've got a sword. And if you came to Jesus Christ, he is the word of God. You know what he gave you? He gave you a book, a book so that you could know what is true, a book so that you could know what is right, a book so that you could know how to be saved, how to please God. All of that is in there. They got that sword. Now watch this, the Bible says, and he said to them, thus saith the Lord God of Israel, put every man his sword by his side and go in and out from gate to gate throughout the camp and slay every man his brother and every man his companion and every man his neighbor. Say, what do you do with that, Brother Justin? Listen, this is Old Testament, right? They had physical promises, they had physical battles, they had physical weapons. We don't have that. But you know what sometimes you gotta do? You gotta take this book to your friend, your companion, and say, that's wrong. God said, don't do that. God said, don't live that way. Sometimes you gotta take this book, what do you say? To every man his brother. I got a brother after the flesh, doesn't know God, doesn't wanna know God. And you know what I gotta do? I gotta take this book, and I gotta say, you know what? I've known you my whole life, but I'm not going with you. I'm not going that way. We're gonna cut that tie. We're gonna make that separation. It's not that I don't talk to him or anything. I liked it. He don't like to talk to me. I like to talk to him, but we don't have a great relationship. because my life is vastly different. I had some friends, my wife, she's a social butterfly, she had a lot of friends. When we first got saved, and if you come from the world, you first get saved, you got your friends who you hang out with, you got a lifestyle that ain't right, you don't do what God says, you don't go where God says you wanna go, you get saved, you start getting in church, you start doing right, you start telling your friends, I'm telling you, you got a year. You got like a year to win them. before they're just done with you, unless you're going to go with them. And that's how that works. We had a bunch of mutual friends, because she's such a social butterfly, and tried to get them all to come, tried to get some time with them, tried to get them to hear the truth, had no interest. And man, so few people that we knew Back in that day, we'll talk to us now. Just because they don't want it. They have a life they want to live. I got a life I want to live and I'm going to take this sword and I'm going to do what God said to do with it. At every bed is neighbor. You got people that live on your street. Do they know God? Have you brought this sword to them? You might have to make some divisions there. Quick and powerful, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even the dividing asunder of soul and spirit and joints and marrow. That's what this book does. So we told them to take the sword, take it to their brother, take it to their companion, take it to their neighbor, take it to everybody. And verse number 29, for Moses had said, look at this, consecrate yourselves. Consecrate yourselves. When you hear that call, they were just dancing naked around a golden calf, right? They heard that call, they came to Moses, they got that sword. What did Moses say? Consecrate yourselves. What are we supposed to do as God's people? Be ye holy, even as I am holy. We're supposed to separate ourselves from the things of the world, separate ourselves from the things that are unrighteous, and draw closer to be separated to God and the things of God. Second Timothy chapter two. Second Timothy chapter two. You know, we have a thing of very grounded faith. When you study the Bible, all of this makes sense. Some people are very floaty. You know, they don't like the Bible. They just, oh, you know, God will do all this for me. He said, consecrate yourselves. Second Timothy chapter two. The Bible says, verse 19, nevertheless, the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, the Lord knoweth them that are his and let everyone that name of the name of Christ depart from iniquity. If you say, I am a Christian, right? A Christian, one that is following Christ. I am one that believes in Christ. I'm one that trusts in Christ. Depart from iniquity. Man, you're out there living in sin, doing unrighteousness, somebody you're not married to, drinking booze, whatever it might be. Man, you want people to think you know Christ and do that? It doesn't line up. The Bible says, verse number 20, but in a great house, God's got a great house. In a great house, there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth, and some to honor and some to dishonor. Are you a vessel in God's house? Is he ashamed, but you're there? Yeah, this one's mine. We're working on them, you know. Or is he pleased? Is he glad? Is he rejoicing? Are you a vessel of honor or dishonor? The Bible says, if a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honor, sanctified of meat for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work. If you're flirting with a girl at work you're not married to, God's not gonna make you not do that. You have to do that. If you're looking at stuff you shouldn't be looking at, God's not gonna take it away. You gotta stop looking at it, right? What does the Bible say? Purge yourselves. Get rid of that stuff. Get it out of your life. Get it out of your heart. Get it out of your mind. Make no provision for the flesh. But that's what he said. He said, consecrate yourselves. Back to Exodus 32. I didn't know all that was in Exodus 32. Exodus 32. Verse number 30. And it came to pass on the morrow that Moses said unto the people, ye have sinned a great sin. He don't sugarcoat it. He tells the truth. Ye have sinned a great sin, and now I will go up unto the Lord. Peradventure, I shall make an atonement for your sin. Praise be to God, Jesus Christ did that. He didn't have to question whether or not he would, he knew it. Verse 31, and Moses returned unto the Lord. You know what he did? After he came down, after those tables were broken, after he brought those people to come unto him and consecrated them and gave them a sword, you know what he did? He went back up the mountain. Jesus Christ, after He died, after He was buried, walked the earth for 40 days and 40 nights, and you know what He did? He ascended back up to heaven. He went back to be with the Father. Look at this, and Moses returned unto the Lord and said, oh, this people have sinned a great sin and have made them gods of gold. Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin. Unfinished sentence. So only two unfinished sentences that I know of. God, Jesus Christ comes, He break those tables, those people came unto Him. He goes up to plea. Forgive their sin. And if not, look at this. Blot me. Blot me. He's putting himself in their place. What did Jesus Christ do? He put himself in my place when he died on that cross. He said, father, forgive them for they know not what they do. Look at Moses says, if thou will forgive their sin, if not blot me, I pray thee out of thy book, which thou has written. Jesus Christ put himself in our place to suffer and die. so that our names wouldn't be blotted out of the book of life. Praise be to God. Praise be to God. Look at one more thing, one more thing. We see Moses goes up there. What does he do? He goes up there to plead on their behalf, Jesus Christ, even to this very day, this very hour. What's he doing? Interceding for you, interceding for me. He's up there. God, please help them. God, please bless them. God, please strengthen them. God, give them what they need. God, lead them and guide them, help them. All of these things Jesus Christ is doing for us, all the time to this very day since he's gone back up. Exodus chapter 34. One more thing. Exodus chapter 34. Verse number 28, 27. And the Lord said unto Moses, Write thou these words, for after the tenor of these words I have made a covenant with thee and with Israel. And he was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights. He did neither eat bread nor drink water, and he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments." See, God didn't forget what he wrote. He knows it all. You can trust that he gave a good copy. It's all right. Verse 29, and it came to pass when Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tables of testimony in Moses' hand, when he came down from the mount, that Moses wished not that the skin of his face shone while he talked with him. See, Jesus Christ, He went up into that mountain and He's interceding for you and He's interceding for me, but He's coming back. He's coming back. And when He comes back, let me tell you something. He's not lawless. You know what the Bible says? He's going to rule the nations with a rod of iron. He has that law. That law will go forth from Zion. And the Bible says that when Jesus Christ comes down, it ain't gonna be in a manger that nobody knows about. It ain't gonna be living in Jerusalem, this one little city out in the middle of East. When Jesus Christ comes from heaven the second time, everyone will know it. Everyone will see it. Everyone will see that glory, that power, that greatness, that law is going to go forth. And you know what? Looking forward to it. Praise be to God, man. Moses, just such a great picture of Jesus Christ. Looking forward to the day that Jesus Christ comes back down from that mountain, from that heavenly Mount Zion to rule and reign. Amen. Let's pray. Heavenly Father, thank you, God, for this great book, this amazing book, God, that you could show us so much truth about you from the book of Exodus. We love you. We thank you for all that you've done for us. Pray that you'd help us to serve you better and love you more. In Jesus' name, amen.
