Heritage Baptist was supporting us when we left to go to Thailand, and of course has since combined here with you guys, and so I appreciate the pastor taking on that burden, amen, or that blessing, whatever you want to look at it. But either way, we appreciate you keeping our support and having us come in, love, enjoy meeting you folks. I've been blessed already just from being here this morning and just the fellowship and then the Sunday school hour and then the singing, good music. I'm jealous of your pastor. I get jealous of these preachers that can play piano and sing and preach too. That's just not fair. They get all those talents and I'm not. The brother leading the singing up here did a good job. I appreciate him and I appreciate guys that just get up and sing and they don't have to do all this. And I don't know, do you know how to do all that? They teach you how to do that in Bible college? They tried to teach me, and they failed miserably. And I remember when I went to college, they were signing me up for song leading class. And I told them, I don't want to go to that. I want to take that class. And they said, you have to. I said, why? God didn't call me to lead music. He called me to preach. And I'll be the preacher. We'll have a song leader do the song leading, you know? And he said, well, when you start a church, you don't always have a song leader. You've got to do it all. And I said, well, if they're betting on me, they're in a heap of trouble, A-man, because it's not going to work out. And he said, we'll teach you how to do it. And so about after the third class, the music professor came to me and said, but then you were right. He said, some people can't carry a tune in a bucket. You can't even carry the bucket, buddy. It's bad. And he said, but we're going to help you. We're going to teach you. And so, man, they taught me for a whole semester. And for our final, we had to get up in front of the whole church and lead music, lead a song. And so that week, it was on a Wednesday night, I picked when the roll is called up yonder, I'll be there. And man, I practiced all week, doing all the hand motions, you know, the two, four, three, all that stuff, you know, they try to teach you. And I was going to do a good job. And I don't know, about halfway through the first verse, my arms got all out of whack and started going the wrong directions. And so during the chorus, everybody started laughing at me. And I could not figure out, what in the world are they laughing at me for? I can't be doing it that bad. They don't even know what all this stuff means anyway, most of them. And so the third verse, I finally realized what I was doing. And I'd be up there, and I'd say, when the roll is called up yonder, I'll be there. and everybody bust out laughing. And I realized what I was doing. I said, I may not get it right, but I will not mess up on the fourth verse. And I made sure when I got to that part, I said, when the roll is called up yonder, I'll be there. And everybody said, amen. And so we, uh, anyway, we decided real quick, we'll just stick with preaching and let somebody else lead the music. Amen. Mark chapter 14, we've already read the passage. I won't belabor and read it again. And if you'll listen fast, I'll try to preach fast. I don't preach long. I've always followed the motto, missionaries that preach short get support, amen? And so we'll get you out of here quick. But here in our story, there are multitudes of Jews that are preparing for the Passover. and the feast and all of the different activities that accompany that. And so there's a lot of excitement. There's a lot of joy in the air. These people are preparing food, preparing their houses. They're anxious to have people over that maybe they haven't seen in the whole year previously. And so they're busy going here and there. And at the same time, while they're busy preparing their homes and their food, the Son of God is preparing for the agony of the cross. And by the way, that's usually the case while we spend most of our time focused on the here and now and that which is temporal. Jesus is always focused on that which is eternal, that which matters the most. And remember that when Jesus was on the earth, he was 100% man. But at the same time, he was 100% God. He was deity. And the Gospel of Luke presents to us the humanity of Christ and shows us how that He was born of a virgin and how He grew and He hungered, He got thirsty, He grew tired, He sweated, He cried, He slept, and everything that a man would do here on the earth, Jesus did. But the whole time that He walked the earth, He was still God. He was still omnipresent. He was still omnipotent. He was still omniscient. He was immutable, and eternal, and righteous, and just, and pure, and merciful, and loving, and faithful, and every other attribute that God has, Jesus had. And so his humanity did not rob him of his deity. These chief priests and these scribes, they're conspiring to take Jesus, and they didn't want to cause an uproar, the Bible says, and so they're plotting, and they're planning, and they're scheming, and they're trying to bribe Judas with 30 pieces of silver, and they're going to try to trick Jesus into catching him. And really they didn't need to do that because Jesus wasn't hiding from them. He wasn't trying to skip town. He knew because he was God what was about to happen to him. He knew that he would be betrayed. He knew that he would be falsely accused. He knew that he would be beaten by the cat of nine tails. He knew that they would spit upon him and mock him and drive the crown of thorns down upon his brow. And they knew that he would nail his hands and his feet to the cross. And he knew that his own would reject him. But in spite of knowing all of that, He left heaven and He came anyway. That's what He came for. Remember when you read the crucifixion story that they did not take the life from our Savior. He gave His life willingly. The Bible says, I have power to lay it down and power to take it up again, Jesus said. And so, matter of fact, when that crowd came to arrest Jesus, Jesus said, whom seek ye? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth. And Jesus spoke only three words. He said, I am He. And just from the power of his voice, his word, that crowd fell backwards onto the ground. I'm convinced he didn't have to say a word. He could have thought the thought, and there was 12 legions of angels sitting on the edge of glory, swords ready to go on, ready to come get him, but he never thought the thought. and he never called on them. You know why? Because that's what he came for. He didn't come to make a name for himself. He didn't come to gain popularity. He didn't come to sightsee. He came for one purpose, and that was to die on the cross of Calvary to pay for my sins and for your sins and the sins of the entire world. So here he is in Bethany once again. And a great story is recorded in the Bible, a very familiar story. We've read about it and preached about it and sang about it, and everybody knows every detail about this story. but very few Christians ever repeat this story. Seldom does anybody in today's Christianity follow the example of this lady. We know from other gospel accounts, I believe this is Mary of Bethany, Martha's sister, and she shows up to Simon the leper's house, and she brings this alabaster box full of ointment. She breaks the box and pours it on the head of Jesus, and the critics begin to accuse her, and Jesus made a statement that is a great testimony that we should all desire for him to say of us. He simply said this, she had done what she could. You realize that's all God wants from us today, folks? He just wants you to do what you can. Look, God will never tell you to do anything that you can't do. You may think you can't do it. It may seem impossible. Amen? Learning time seemed impossible to me. But listen, if God tells you to do it, it can be done. You can do it. And I believe if every member of this church would make up your mind, I'm just gonna do what I can for Jesus this year, there's no telling what God could do here in this church and this community and around the world for your missions giving if you would just do what you can. What was it this lady did that enabled her to have such a great testimony? I want to mention four things to you briefly, and we'll be done. Number one, she sincerely showed up. There's something to be said just for showing up, just for being where you're supposed to be when you're supposed to be there. And here's a lady that heard that Jesus was coming to a house in her town, and as far as we know, she hadn't even been invited. Nobody called her on the phone. Nobody came by and knocked on her door. They didn't bring a bus to get her, amen? They didn't have to beg her and plead with her and pump her up to come. Nobody drugging a church. They weren't even giving away prizes at church that day for people to come. I remember I was a bus captain for years. and there's our church there in Jacksonville. And we'd always have promotions every week. We'd have flyers and we'd go out on Saturday and pass them out. We'd always give out a Snickers bar, Skittles, or Starbucks, some kind of candy or chips or something to try to get the kids to come. And some people are against that, but look, I'll give away anything if it'll get somebody to come hear the gospel, amen? And so we'd do that stuff. And I remember some Saturdays we'd show up and the flyer would say, come because you love Jesus Sunday. And when I saw that as a bus captain, I was like, oh man, it's gonna be a bad day tomorrow. These kids don't love Jesus yet, they're coming to get Skittles, amen? And hopefully one day they'll get saved and come because they love Jesus. But usually what that meant was the bus director was lazy that week and didn't get the promotion or we were broke and didn't have money to buy any promotion. But anyway, that was gonna be a bad day. But I got to thinking about that when I was reading this, there wasn't any promotions at church this Sunday. It was come because you love Jesus Sunday. And she heard that Jesus was gonna be there and she wanted to get in on it, amen? She wanted to be where Jesus was gonna be. I remember when we left Thailand the first time to bring Kristen back, we got to the airport there in Bangkok. And there were literally thousands of people gathered at the airport. And you couldn't even hardly walk through it, so many people, mostly women and teenage girls. And I got to thinking, what in the world? What are they doing? What are all these people doing here? And so I finally broke my way through the line, got up to the ticket counter and checked in. And I asked the lady there, I said, what are all these people doing here? Why are there so many people? And she said, there's a Korean pop star about to land here at the airport and come through. And I thought, all these people came up here just to see him? And she's like, yeah, he's real popular. And so I'm talking, all these people sat in, I know Bangkok traffic, some of them sat in traffic three hours to get to that airport, just so they could take a selfie when a guy walked by some Korean pop star, maybe brush up against them, or maybe get an autograph, or just get a glimpse of somebody famous. And I got to thinking about that, you know, there's nobody more famous than Jesus. There's nobody more popular than him. Nobody's done for you what he's done for you. Nobody loves you the way that he loves you. Nobody cares for you the way that he cares for you. And I'll let you in on a little secret. He shows up right here every Sunday morning. Yep, this is how you know that. Because the Bible says where two or three gather together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. And every time this church assembles together on Sunday morning, Jesus shows up. And I don't know about you, but if I was a member of this church, I'd wanna be here where Jesus was, amen? I wouldn't wanna be anywhere else. I'm gonna let you all in on a little secret. Y'all have church on Sunday night? What time? Five o'clock. You know what, Jesus is gonna show back up tonight at five o'clock right here. Some of y'all haven't figured that out yet. Maybe not here. I know at my church, a lot of people come on Sunday morning and don't come back Sunday night. They don't know Jesus is coming back on Sunday night again. He'll come back on Sunday night. You got church on Wednesday night? He'll even show up right here on Wednesday night, amen? And if I'm a member here, man, I'd want to be there. I want to be where Jesus was. I want to get in on that. And you got to ask yourself, if you don't want to be, why don't you want to be here? And some people can't be, they're shut in, they're sick, they're not able to come. Maybe they have to work or something like that. But if you can be here and you don't wanna be here, could be there's a heart problem. Maybe you've forgotten what he's done for you. Mary knew what he was about to do for her. She was one of the few that understood he was about to give his life and offer him for her sin. And she wanted to make sure he knew that she loved him and she was coming. Notice that she didn't come to get out. She didn't come to leave. We, a lot of churches have, you know, we developed this popcorn church mentality, I call it. We want to get folks in and out as quick as possible. And if not, they'll go down the road to the other church, you know. And so we've cut our singing down and we've cut our preaching time down and the program down. We make it as short as possible and try to make folks happy. So they'll come back. We ought to be ashamed of ourselves. It's amazing. Some of you ladies, you'll, you'll sit down and watch a movie at home, Netflix and chill for three hours. Won't think a thing about it. It won't bother you a bit to sit there and watch that movie, the Hallmark movie, you know, the same story, just five different ways, and it all comes out the end. My wife does that, amen? Not a problem at all. Some of you fellows, yesterday, you sat there and watched a football game for three and a half hours. I do it every Saturday, I watch the Razorbacks, and they never win. But I still watch him, amen. Remember, we played Missouri yesterday. Got whooped, like usual. You know what, I was watching. We'll pray for overtime. We'll sit there three and a half hours, won't even get up to go to the bathroom in the middle of it, amen? They come to church, and if he goes one minute past noon, all right, preacher, you gotta hurry up, we got places to go, we gotta go to the restaurant. We got our priorities out of order, folks. What's wrong with us? Mary said, I know what he's about to do for me, and I want him to know that I love him more than anything else, and I'm coming. Notice she didn't come for fellowship. She didn't come to see the show or watch a miracle. Matter of fact, if you study the other parallel passages, you'll find most of the people showed up there that day to see Lazarus, the dead person that got raised. They didn't come to see Jesus. She didn't come to sit there and fold her arms, you know, and say, bless me if I can, if you can, Jesus. She came to get involved. She wanted to have a part. She wanted Christ to know that she wasn't ashamed of him. Why are you here today? Why did you come to church today? You ought to come for one reason, to worship Him. Not a builder, not a preacher, not a missionary, not any other man, but the man, Jesus Christ. Psalm 34, three says, O magnify the Lord with me. Let us exalt His name together. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so. Hey, haven't y'all been redeemed by the blood of the Lamb? Every now and then you ought to say so. You wanna let folks know that you're a child of God, and when you come to church especially, you wanna come ready to sing to Jesus, and ready to praise Jesus, and ready to talk about Jesus, and ready to hear about Jesus, and encourage your preacher to preach about Jesus, amen? Say amen every now and then when he preaches. Nod your head, wave your hand, let him know you're in agreement, and you're behind him, and keep on going, preacher. You may not be able to do what somebody else can do. Not everybody can stand up here and preach. Not everybody can sing a special. Not everybody can play the piano. Not everybody can do everything. But there's one thing every one of us can do. Every one of us can praise Him. Jesus said anything that has breath can praise the Lord and worship Him. Number one, she showed up. Number two, she selflessly sacrificed. The Bible says she had an alabaster box filled with ointment. It was spikener. That was a perfume that was imported from India, a very costly perfume. Matter of fact, the Bible says there it could have been sold for 300 pence. They worked for a pence a day, so that's basically a year's wages is what it took her to obtain that. I want you to think about that for a minute. Here's a lady that came to church and gave a year's wages to Christ in one offering. We have a hard time getting folks to give a tenth. This lady sacrificed and gave a year's wages. That wasn't no simple, just run-of-the-mill offering she gave folks. She sacrificed. Today's money is approximately $35,000, $40,000, what most commentators believe she gave. No doubt she'd been saving that for a long time for her own burial, that of her family's. No doubt she'd worked years to obtain that precious ointment. But instead of keeping it for herself and to meet her own needs, she gave it to the Lord without regard for her own needs.
She knew that if she took care of Jesus' business, he would take care of hers. She didn't try to figure it out. You know, maybe I can give Jesus some, anoint him, but keep some for me and my family and have enough for everybody. She knew he was worthy of all of it, and she just gave it all to him.
You know, she may not be able to be an apostle, but she could sacrifice. She may not stand on Pentecost and preach to 3,000 like Peter did, but she could sacrifice. She may never go on a missionary journey with the Apostle Paul, but she could sacrifice.
What's amazing there is I don't even see him passing an offering plate. They're not taking up an offering. They're not asking anybody to give. Nobody's pumping them up and priming them to give and begging and pleading with them to give. This lady came to church with a heart to want to give, to want to sacrifice, to give something to Jesus after all he was doing for her.
One account says she wiped Jesus' feet with her hair. She bowed before him, not only giving her possessions, but giving herself to him in total surrender.
Mary found a place she enjoyed being. Luke 10, she was at his feet. John 11, she was at his feet. John 12, she was at His feet. She loved to worship Jesus.
When's the last time you humbled yourself before Him? Just worshiped Him. When's the last time you came down here to an old-fashioned altar? Tell you what, a lot of our church, we've forgotten what this is for. I come from a church where we grew up, every time the preacher preached, the altars would fill up. People would be crying and weeping and praying and getting right with God and getting saved and just worshiping the Lord.
And I travel around America today to churches and I see very little use of these altars anymore. And preachers would get up like your preacher every week, preach your heart out to you and folks would sit there. I ain't going down there, people will think I'm a sinner. You aren't fooling anybody, friend. We know you're a sinner. We're all sinners saved by grace. We all need help. And every now and then, you ought to come down here and humble yourself, not give a flip what anybody else thinks about you. Just humble yourself before God. Spend some time at His feet, worshiping Him, confessing sin, getting close to Him.
When's the last time you sacrificed? I'm not talking about just giving God a tip. Sacrifice, sacrificial giving. When's the last time you actually practiced that? I don't think we even have a clue what that means in America anymore. We're so rich and blessed. We were talking this morning, people on welfare and food stamps here in America are wealthier than 70% of the world out there. I preach on missions a lot, missions conference, things like that. I've preached before, tried to get people. People say, it's amazing, you come to mission conference, I can't afford preaching, I don't have any money to give, really. So we'll figure out things that can sacrifice, you know. Maybe give up a Starbucks a week, a McDonald's quarter pounder, a Coke at the end of the week. You can come up with quite a bit of money you could give. And especially the cost of things these days. But I got thinking about that. I mean, we're trying to get folks to sacrifice a candy bar and a Coke. Is that really a sacrifice?
I read here a while back this missionary in India, the pastor went over to visit him and they were out visiting the church, visiting folks, and they drove by a field and they saw a man and a lady plowing the field. And they didn't have an ox, they didn't have a tractor, the man was pulling the plow, the lady was guiding it. The pastor said, man those folks, look how poor they are, they can't even afford an ox or a tractor, they've got to hand plow it. And the missionary pastor said, you know preacher, they are actually members of our church. And last week, we were taking up an offering. We're trying to build a new building and had a special building fund offering. And they wanted to have a part in it, but they didn't have any money. And so they had an ox and they sold their ox and gave the proceeds of that to help build the building. And that pastor began to weep and cry. He said, I can't believe somebody would sacrifice like that. And the missionary looked at him and said, you know, preacher, they didn't even look at it like a sacrifice. They were just happy they had something they could sell, a gift. They just wanted to have a part in it. And wouldn't God, we'd all have that kind of spirit. Wouldn't a God we just have a desire and an attitude of giving and sacrificing and doing all we can for the Lord. He's worthy of it, folks. He's worthy.
Number three, she sincerely showed up. Number two, she sacrificed, selflessly sacrificed. Number three, she stood steadfast in spite of suffering. Verse number four says, and there were some. You mark it down, there will always be some. You let somebody sell out to God and sacrifice and get on fire for God, there will always be some that's gonna criticize. You mark it down.
I remember we got saved, and we got in the church, and all my family, they all wanted my dad to straighten up, because he was just living wild and crazy, but he got saved. When he got saved, man, he got it all. And we got in church, and our family started criticizing us. Y'all are crazy. What are y'all doing at that church all the time? Y'all joined a cult, that's what they told us. They could not understand why we were doing what we were doing. But they were lost. I didn't expect them to understand it.
What's amazed me over the years, what I can't understand is I see some old mossy back Christians in the church, some old bitter Christians, angry. They'll get mad and get bitter and they'll start criticizing people that are trying to do something for God. You let some young Christian get on fire for God in the church, they'll just try to throw water. Why would you do that? You ought to encourage people that are on fire for the Lord to do more for God.
You know, Judas began to criticize this lady. He didn't really want to give that money to the poor. He was a thief. He wanted to keep it for himself. But oh, how it must have hurt when this very people that she thought she had serving with and worked alongside, she thought were friends, thought was on the same side of her, but they began to lash out and criticize her. She's just trying to do something for Jesus. Maybe they misjudged her motives. Maybe they misunderstood her. Maybe they disagreed with their method. But she really didn't care anyways, because she wasn't doing what she was doing for them. She was doing it for Jesus.
And she knew what Jesus was about to do for her. She knew where she'd be if it wasn't for him. And she didn't care if anybody liked it or not. She wasn't going to let a bunch of backslidden, grumpy, old, bitter church members and backsliders keep her from serving God.
Do you know what I love? I love what Jesus did. He didn't leave her to defend herself. He said, y'all let her alone. Shut your mouths. She had done a good work for me. She had done a good thing. We don't have to waste our time answering our critics. You start serving God, and God starts blessing, and things start happening. You go to that mission field, and you just plant a church, and folks start getting saved. There will always be other missionaries that'll criticize you. Hey, you don't worry about them. You just stay faithful, let God take care of them. God can handle the critics just fine.
Number four. Lastly, I'm done. Most importantly, she shared salvation with others. Look at verse number nine. Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she had done shall be spoken of as a memorial for her. When she did what she did, it was such a testimony. Listen to me. She gave that sacrifice. God kind of leaned over glory, got up off his throne a little bit, nudged the Holy Ghost on the side, said, hey, did you see that? Look what that lady just did. Holy Ghost, I want you to write that down. I want you to record that in the Word of God. 2,000 years from now, I want this church here in Nixon, Missouri to read about the kind of sacrifice and the kind of commitment that gets the attention of God. Write that down. And 2,000 years later, people all over the world today are hearing the gospel because of this lady's testimony. What a blessing.
I love to preach about different stories in the Bible. You know, Gideon defeating multitudes of the Midianites with 300 men, what an awesome. The Bible would make a great action-adventure movie, amen? I mean, there's crazy stories. Daniel in the lion's den, David defeating Goliath, just a little shepherd boy defeating a giant. You know, all these great stories we can preach about. But you know, God told me, Daniel, when you go to Thailand, He didn't tell me to tell them about Daniel and Gideon and David, but He did tell me to tell them about this lady. Daniel, when you go around the world, preach the gospel, make sure you tell them about this lady.
Just a few months ago, right before we left Thailand, I preached out of this passage, and people heard the gospel for the first time because of the testimony of this lady. What an awesome testimony. Hey, you may never go on a missionary journey to Thailand with me. You may never stand up here and preach behind this pulpit like your pastor. You may not be able to do that. But I'm gonna tell you one thing every one of you can do. Every one of you can go across the street Pass out one of these. Everybody can go to your neighbor. Everybody can witness to somebody right here. You got family and friends right here that you could talk to about the Lord. Everybody can do that, it's easy.
You say, well, I just, Brother Daniel, I get scared, I get bum-puzzled, I don't know what to say, my mind goes one way, my tongue goes the other, and I might say the wrong thing. Look, put it on the doorbell, put it on the door, ring the doorbell and run. Whoever left that track on my door that day, I told you our testimony in Sunday school, if you weren't here, my dad got saved because somebody left a track on our door. My dad was a drunk, didn't love God, never took us to church, and somebody came by, they stuck it on the door, rang the doorbell and ran, I don't know. But my dad got this and read it, got saved, our family got in church, got saved, now there's people in Thailand getting saved, all because somebody did what they could, went out on a Saturday morning and left a track on our door.
Look, quit worrying about what you can't do. I just can't do things anymore. I'm older. Look, I'm getting older, too. I'm 47 now, and I got things hurting. I didn't even know I existed 20 years ago, you know? You start making grunts. Some of y'all are like me. I mean, every time you stand up and sit down, you just make noises, amen? And we can't do all that we used to be able to do. But we don't have to. We just do what we can. That's all God wants from you. Quit worrying about what you can't do, and get busy doing what you can for Jesus. And if you'll do that, there's no telling what God can use you to do this year for Him.
Now, let me say this, and I'm done. You can't do anything for God until you first receive what he's done for you. 2,000 years ago, he gave his life in offering for your sin. He offers eternal life to you freely. It's a gift that comes from God. All you gotta do is receive it. And if you'll receive that gift, he'll save your soul, give you a home in heaven forever. And after you receive that gift, then you can begin to live your life to please him and give back to him.
If you're here this morning and you've never received that gift, I'd encourage you and challenge you to do that today before you leave, before it's too late. Our heads are bowed, our eyes are closed. I'll ask a couple of questions. We'll hand it over to the preacher. I wonder how many of you say, Brother Daniel, I know beyond a shadow of a doubt if I die today, I'm saved. I'm going to heaven when I die. No questions about it. Would you lift your hand up as a testimony? I know I'm saved. I know I'm going to heaven. Thank you. I see those hands.
I wonder if there'd be someone in the crowd that would be honest today. Listen, if you can't be honest in church, there's not much hope for you. I wonder if you'd be honest this morning and say, Brother Daniel, I don't know for sure that I'm going to heaven. I want to go to heaven. I hope I would. I might go, but I don't know 100% for sure. I've got some doubt about that. Would you pray for me that someday somehow I get that settled? I not call your name out. I won't embarrass you. I'd just like to pray for you. Would you lift your hand up and let me pray for you? Anybody like that? Preacher, pray for me. I don't know for sure that I'm saved. Thank you, young man. Say that again, young lady. Anybody else? Preacher, pray for me. I'm not sure that I go to heaven, but I'd sure like to know that.
I pray for this young one, Lord, that raised their hand. I pray that you would speak to their heart and convict them and draw them to you. And when they're able to understand the gospel, I pray that you'd help them to receive you as your savior. I wouldn't have me to say, but Daniel, I'm saved. I'm going to heaven. But I hadn't really been doing all that I can for Christ. I could do more. I think if we're honest, this morning, all of us could say that we could do more for him. God spoke to my heart today. I need to do more for Jesus. I just need to do all I can for him.
Would you lift your hand up? Let me pray for you. Anybody like that? All over the building. Father, bless these that have raised their hand. I pray that you'd help us to leave not just stirred and touched, but God, help us to leave changed. Help us to leave different. Help us to leave here committed to do all that we can for you. In Jesus' name, our heads are bowed, our eyes are closed. If you would, please stand to your feet.
As the piano begins to play softly, maybe you're the one that needs to come find a place around the altar this morning. Maybe just humble yourself before the Lord. Just worship Him for a minute. Thank Him for what He did for you. And ask Him to help you do what you can for Him. Preacher. Amen.
The altar is all open. You come this morning. Maybe you need to have asked the Lord for some help with some things. Maybe you just need to spend a little bit of time and worship him and thank him and praise him for all that he's done and spend a little time looking over your life and just thanking him. However, the Lord has spoken to you. You respond to him this morning. Amen.
If you need to be saved this morning, you come. We have people that can take the Bible, a man with a man, a woman with a woman. We can have somebody take the Bible and show you this morning how you can know that you can be saved and your sins can be forgiven on your way to heaven. Maybe you're watching online this morning and you need to be saved and you can write in and you can call in and you can email or whatever and we'll get with you and we can show you how you can be born again. However the Lord is leading this morning, you respond to Him. ♪ Amen.
I told you before, not too long ago, I think it was this summer, it was this summer, I was by the grave of Fannie Crosby and for years, years, there's this little headstone and it's still there and somebody else has put up a larger one and she didn't want that, but there's a little headstone and what it said was she had done what she could. She had done what she could and every one of us have been so blessed over the years by the songs that she had written and the depth of them. She didn't get saved until she was 30 years old and fell under conviction, been in church most of her life and written hymns and poems before that time. And she said at the age of 30 she fell under conviction of the Holy Spirit of God and got saved. and got rid of all, from all we know is those hymns that she wrote before are gone. She never, she got rid of all of them and started writing new ones. And what a blessing that is. She had done what she could.
And I'm thankful that the Lord doesn't expect us to do everything, but he is worthy of us doing what we can. And many of you have heard those, I've mentioned it before, those Moravian missionaries. They supposedly, as they would launch out to go into places that they knew they'd never return, Supposedly, their rally cry was that he might receive the rewards of his suffering. And what a thought that is. He is worthy, amen. And we can do so much more. May God help us. May God just change our heart and do a work in us, just to have a, just that he'd make himself so real to us that what he has done for us in the past and what he continues to do for us, that we would just find time in every part of our life just to worship just to worship and give and to testify.
What a great message this morning. Thank you for that reminder today, brother. Thank you so much. Pray for them, they're gonna be going on down into Yeovil, Arkansas this afternoon, and going down to the church down there, and so do pray for them. They've got a lot of traveling left to do, and so as a church, let me give you a couple items, two items real quick.
