Hello again and welcome to the program. We're here with a little strength for today. Hebrews 10 25 says we need to be exhorting one another and so much the more as you see the day approaching.
In our previous program, we left off, Paul had given us seven different verses that says, I would not have you to be ignorant. The phrase, not knowing, is found seven times in the word of God. Not knowing. I'll give you a couple of them.
Matthew 22, 29, Jesus answered and said unto them, ye do err, not knowing the scriptures nor the power of God. Romans 2 and 4, Paul said, not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance.
The phrase, no, not, is found in the scriptures 71 times. I'll give you a few of those.
Mark 12, 24, and Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the Scriptures, neither the power of God? Psalm 82, 5 we read, They know not, neither will they understand. They walk on in darkness. Proverbs 4.19, the way of the wicked is as darkness, they know not at what they stumble. Isaiah 59.8, the way of peace, they know not. Amos 3.10, for they know not to do right, saith the Lord.
The phrase, know not, occurs four times in Matthew, six times in Mark, four in Luke, 14 in John, one time in Romans, three times in 1 Corinthians, once in 1 Thessalonians, and one time in 2 Thessalonians, once in James, John, and again in the book of Jude.
Well, as Paul the Apostle said, we have no reason to be ignorant. In 2 Peter 1, 19, we read, we have also a more sure word of prophecy, whereunto ye do well, that ye take heed unto a light that shineth in a dark place. Numbers 23, 19, God is not a man that he should lie, neither the son of man that he should repent. Hath he said, and shall he not do it? Or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? Isaiah 46, 9, and 10 says, I am God, and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning. and from ancient times the things that are not yet done saying my counsel shall stand and I will do all my pleasure.
Now the Bible says in Luke 21 23 and when these things begin to come to pass Then look up and lift up your heads, for your redemption draweth nigh. Again, our verse, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is, exhorting one another, and so much the more, as you see the day approaching. Hebrews 10, 25, the day is approaching.
The Bible is very plain about the things that will be happening when we get to the end of the age, and again, Luke 21, 28, when these things begin to come to pass, then look up and lift up your heads, for your redemption draweth nigh.
Concerning his return, Jesus said in Luke 17, 26, and as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of Man. How was it in the days of Noah? Well, Genesis 6, 5 says God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth and that every imagination of the thought of his heart was only evil continually says it was wicked and it was evil proverbs 4 14 says enter not into the path of the wicked and go not in the way of evil men.
When it says wickedness of man was great, that's an interesting word. That word great has been translated captain 24 times. A captain is a commander or someone in charge. And so we see the wickedness is in charge, not the way of the Lord. We also read in Genesis 6 in verse 11, the earth was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. The earth was corrupt. What does that mean? In Psalm chapter 53 in verse number one, we read, the fool has said in his heart, there is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity. There is none that doeth good.
Now it's interesting, if you note carefully, the words there is is in italics in that verse, which means it's not really there in the original. The translators put it in there to make it clear. What they did was they actually changed the meaning of the verse. Let's read it without the phrase there is. The fool has said in his heart, no, God. Corrupt are they and have done abominable Iniquity, there is none that doeth good.
They don't say there is no God. They just say no to God. Oh, they'll pretend there's God at Christmas time a little bit to get a little emotional about stuff. But they simply say no God. I'm not going to do what you say to do. That's what it means here when it says the earth was corrupt.
Genesis 6 and 11 goes on to say, and the earth was filled with violence. Do we have a lot of violence today? Conflict-related deaths today, civilian deaths in armed conflicts surged by 40 percent in 2024 compared to 2023, reaching at least 48,384 casualties reported. Casualties among children and women in armed conflicts have quadrupled in just two years.
We're going to look at different areas of violence and the statistics that are available today. We'll look at them in our next program, when God said the earth was filled with violence. We can see that it is.
Luke 17, 26, as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of Man. We'll look at this area of violence more in our next program. Be sure and be with us.
