Hello and welcome to our broadcast. We're in a series on the book of Genesis, an exciting book. Stay tuned. Genesis 1 verse number 1 says, in the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. Now if you can believe that verse, you can believe the whole Bible. Now you have to choose though, you have to decide, do I believe the Bible or do I not believe the Bible? It's your choice. It is interesting that there is no argument given to prove the existence of God. This statement just refutes all other opinions But, as I said, we have no choice but to choose. You say, well, I don't believe the Bible. Well, you will five seconds after you die. The book of Genesis is talking first about the creation, and then it talks about generations. When it talks about the creation of the world, it only takes a very small portion of scripture here. Most of the book of Genesis is talking about the generations of or the families of different people. What is it saying? It is saying that people are far more important than planets. As far as the planets are concerned, the Bible says, and he made the stars also. That's all he says. But hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of verses are written about people. You are the most important thing in your home. Not your kitchen table, not your fridge, not your rec room, not the things that you have in your home. The people in your home are the most important. We need to keep that focus. However, God does start out his Bible by telling us that in the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. It's interesting how many times it is referred to in the New Testament. Mark 13, 19 says, from the beginning of the creation which God created. In John chapter 1 and verse number 3, it says, all things were made by Him, that is Christ, and without Him was not anything made that was made. Again in Acts chapter 4, verse number 24, we read, Thou art God which hath made heaven and earth and the sea and all that in them is. Romans 1 and 20 says, for the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen. In 2 Corinthians 4, 6 we read, for God who commanded the light to shine out of darkness. Colossians 1, 16 we read, all things were made by him and without him was not anything made that was made. Acts chapter 4 verse 24, For by him were all things created that are in heaven and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones or dominions or principalities or powers, all things were created by him and for him. Hebrews chapter 1 and verse number 10 says, Thou, Lord, in the beginning has laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the works of thine hands. We read also in 1 Timothy 2, verse 13, for Adam was first formed, then Eve. We read in Revelation 10, 6, and you swear by Him that liveth forever and forever, who created heaven and all things that are therein, and the earth and all things that are therein, and the sea and all things which are therein. Revelation 1, 17 says, worship Him that made heaven and earth and the sea and the fountains of the waters and we could go on and on with more verses in the New Testament that plainly tells us in the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. The Bible gives us the order in which God created the world. True science is in complete harmony with this order. For instance, first of all, it says God made light, then the firmament, then land, then vegetation, then sun, then fish, then beast, then man. Well, then you can start that and turn it around if you want to try firmament first, and then land, and then vegetation. Then you put land first and go through that whole system again. Vegetation first, then put sun first. You can switch these around thousands and thousands of times. However, whether people believe the Bible or whether they don't believe the Bible, True science is in complete harmony with the order in which things were done. Now someone has said that the chances of Moses putting this down correctly would be estimated as follows. Get eight million printing presses, have them run day and night for 2.5 million years, set the printing prices at a speed of 2,000 tickets a minute, put all the tickets in one pile, and then your chances of picking the winning ticket out of that pile would be the same as Moses getting it right. Well, that's interesting. However, there was no chance in the world for Moses to get it wrong because all Scripture is given by inspiration of God. In Genesis chapter 1 verse number 20 we have a simple little verse where God said, let the waters bring forth abundantly. Interesting. Science has discovered that there are over 500 million tiny creatures in one drop of water. Each drop contains thousands of species. Some have shells, others do not. They have teeth, muscles, nerves, and glands. They say some have between one and two hundred stomachs. There you go, 500 million tiny creatures in one drop of water. And what did God say? Let the waters bring forth abundantly. And then in Genesis 3, in verse number 14, when God cursed the snake, it says, Thus shalt thou eat all the days of thy life. Science has discovered that snakes are continually flicking their tongues out in order to collect dust. Dust is essential to the survival of a snake. If a snake stops eating dust, he stops living. Interesting. Genesis 3.14 says, Dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life. No dust, no life. Some years ago, a man by the name of Peter Stoner, a scientist, wrote a book on science speaks and gave scientific proof of the accuracy of some prophecies that were in the Bible. He only used 8 prophecies and gave the probability of only 8 prophecies happening as they were foretold. All of these were prophesied at least 700 years before they happened. 1. Jesus would be born in Bethlehem. 2. He would be born of a virgin. 3. His own people would receive him not. 4. He would be betrayed by a friend. 5. He would be sold for 30 pieces of silver. Six, they would bring false witnesses against him. Seven, he would hold his peace, though he was falsely accused. And eight, they would spit in his face. Now, Peter Stoner applied the rules of probability to these eight prophecies, and he concluded that the chance of all eight being fulfilled in one person is 1 in 10 to the power of 17. Amazing! Now, if we were to take that many silver dollars and lay them on the surface of Prince Edward Island, they would cover the island to a depth of two feet. Then if we were to mark one of these silver dollars and mix them all together, and we were to blindfold the man and tell him he must pick the marked silver dollar, he would have the same chance as these eight prophecies would have in coming and taking place and coming true in any one man. Well, Stoner only used eight Bible prophecies. There were actually over 300 prophecies fulfilled by Jesus Christ. that were prophesied hundreds and hundreds of years before he was born. Now, as previously mentioned, when God wrote this book of Genesis, we see that people are more important than planets. When it comes to the creation, like the stars, we read in Genesis 1 verse number 16, He made the stars also. What? He spent many, many verses talking about people. For example, Abraham is mentioned 109 times in the book of Genesis alone. Other people such as Adam, Abraham, we have Jacob, and Esau, and Joseph, and Eve, and Sarah, and Rebecca, and Rachel, and Leah. People are more important than planets. We have Genesis 1, verse 1 to Genesis 2, 6, only 37 verses that talk about creation. But when we talk about the generations or the families in the Bible, We have 1,189 chapters talking about that, or over 23,000 verses talking about people. Genesis, 37 verses about planets, 50 chapters about people. And so we can see the emphasis is on people. An emphasis is a prominence given to something. You can get the same example in the New Testament, for example, the life of Christ. There's four Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, and they have a total of 89 chapters. For the first 30 years of the life of Christ, there's only four chapters talking about that. In the last three years, we have 85 chapters talking about his life, and in the last eight days, there are 27 chapters talking about the last days when Christ was here. Now, when we get into the book of Genesis, we start, of course, in verse number one. In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth. The beginning. Genesis has the beginning of everything. We have the beginning of heaven, earth, animals, humans. We have the beginning of human relationships and human institutions. And we have the beginning of sin. We have the beginning of death, the first murder. The first everything is recorded Here, in the book of Genesis, we have the beginning of sin and the results of sin. In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth. Now, as we said, there's no argument about the existence of God. We have one verse to describe the beginning of everything here. In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth. It's just that simple. It's interesting that in verse number one in the Hebrew, there's actually seven words in the Hebrew. And there are seven situations that happen again and again in the book of Genesis, as you'll find it does again in the last book of the Bible, in the book of Revelation. For example, the word good, verse 4, it says it was good. Verse 10, it was good. Verse 12, it was good. Verse 18, it was good. Verse 21, it was good. Verse 25, it was good. And then in chapter 1, verse 31, it was very good. Seven times we have the phrase, it was good. And so we read in the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth. The word God here in Hebrew is Elohim, and they tell us that is a unipolar noun which is representing the Trinity. And so it's so important to understand, as we've said many times before, that Jesus did not just show up in Bethlehem as a little baby. He is very, very active all the way through the Old Testament. And he is found here in verse number one. In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth. It says in Colossians chapter 1 verse number 16, for by Him, that is Christ, were all things created that are in heaven and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones or dominions or principalities or powers, all things were created by Him and for Him. And then we have, in the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth. The word created, the Hebrew word is bara, and it means to make something out of nothing. God simply spoke the word and there it was. And that corresponds with Hebrews chapter 11, verse number 3, where we read through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. And so, in Genesis chapter 1 and verse number 3, God said, let there be light, and there was light. In Genesis chapter 1 alone, you'll find the phrase, God said, ten times. God said, let there be light, there was light. God said it, and it was done. In fact, in the Bible, you'll find the phrase, God said, over 4,000 times. And so on the first day of creation, we read in verse number 3, and God said, let there be light, There was light, and God saw the light that it was good, and God divided the light from the darkness, and God called the light day. and the darkness he called night, and the evening and the morning were the first day. And so God created the world in six literal days. It says in Exodus 20 and 11, For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is, and rested on the seventh day. Again in Exodus 31 and 17, For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested and was refreshed. Well, there you have it, plain and simple. In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth. Tomorrow we'll have a look at what happened on the second day in Genesis chapter 1, verses 6 through 8. Be sure and tune in. you
