Today, I want to take the theme
song of Dr. Lee Roberson and the Church and
bring a message on it. It's one word. It's one way you
could spell Christian. It's spelled O-T-H-E-R-C-H. others. Jesus, in the first division
of the great Sermon on the Mount, had his disciples listening with
rapt attention, and he raised the question, What do ye more
than others? Oh, listen. He said, Look not
on your own things, but Look on the things of others. Conscience, I say, not thine
own, but of the other. For why is my liberty judge of
another man's conscience? Folks, I believe God wants us
to be thinking of others. To me, that's the only way. You
know, somebody said, What can you do for Jesus? He doesn't
need anything, right? Every once in a while you have
somebody say, God needs you. No, He doesn't. You need Him.
You know, it seems so strange that the state would demand compulsory
education, and that's not so bad, but it has to be state education. It's not compulsory education
that I'm opposed to. It's the fact that they want
everybody to come under their umbrella, of humanism, infidelity,
and evolution, and all the rest of the filth that's been taught
during this generation, and made fun and kicked Jesus out of the
schoolroom, and can't even discuss the Bible or prayer or anything
else. I'm for Christian education.
Now, if the heathens want to get a pagan education, that's
their business. But I'd like to say to you preachers
out there, it's our business to train our own people. and
to train our own children. Now, the question is, what do
ye more than others? God thought and planned and gave
for others. Jesus didn't come to the earth
for a vacation. He wasn't trying to get away
from it all. He wasn't trying to leave everything behind, though
he left a lot behind. But he came. to die. He didn't
come to live. He didn't come to make headlines.
No, sir. He didn't come to build some
sort of financial empire, because the Bible said he had no place
to lay his head. And the birds had more than he
had. The foxes had more security than
he had. When the disciples went to their
home, he went to the mount to pray. That is as close to home
as he could get. Jesus lived for others. The disciples forgot themselves
into immortality and gave their lives for others. The Bible said,
even as the enemy watched them die and torn apart by the hungry
lions, burned at the stake, behold how they loved one another. Paul and Silas in the jail at
Philippi, the opposition to a great revival campaign and souls being
saved, started with a vision of a man's hand saying, Come
over into Macedonia and help us. He went for others. They
were women at a Riverside prayer meeting. And he went in to explain
the Word of God more perfectly. And it turned into a mighty upheaval
for God. And, of course, it wound them
up in jail because the devil and his crowd and religion and
the state and all the rest are opposed to old-fashioned, heaven-sent,
spirit-filled, I mean, dog-frightening, mule-scaring, wind-wrackling,
soul-saving, sin-hating revival. You know that. And when it breaks
out, brother, I believe if an old-fashioned, heaven-sent revival
were to break out, Blood would run down the streets. People
would be so mean and mad. They'd be killing and shooting
and fighting. There'd be division in homes
when a wife came home and said, no more. I cannot, I cannot compromise. When little children come home,
I had two boys in my kitchen this week. In fact, this had
been coming by. One boy said he got saved and
he went to the table. and said, Lord, I want to thank
you for this food. Mother and dad, them sitting
there, said they were shocked. He started praying and said,
I want to thank you for saving me. And before he closed his
prayer, his daddy said, That's enough! You can pack your clothes
and get out! And he packed up his clothes
and walked out of the house. Oh yeah, there will be opposition.
Now you can join the church and you can do better. And you can
cut down on your liquor drinking. And you can quit your dope taking.
and maybe just smoke on the outside, and so forth. And that may not
be so bad. I mean, you could do that for
health reasons. But brother, when you do it for
Jesus' sake, and whatever you do, whether you drink, eat, or
whatever you do, do it for the glory of God, there is going
to be opposition in town when you get right with the Lord.
Oh, yes, just like the way you said what happened to the man
this morning. He didn't leave. The Lord let us convince him,
and he got in a boat, and he's down the intercoastal right now,
40 miles from civilization, and I'll promise you this. And he
said, Brother Olaf, do you reckon we can get our children back?
I said, I know you can. You give me six months, and I'll
promise to go get them. I'll fly to the court. I'll go
with you. Those children belong to you and your wife! And once
they find out you're living for Christ, we'll bring those three
children back to Corpus and let them get into Christian school.
Our field is quite already under harvest. And if God's people
would get a vision and would not... You know, I woke up this
morning with this verse on my mind. Turn with me, 2 Chronicles
19. These are the words of a fellow
by the name of Jehu. Jehoshaphat, the king of Judah,
returned to his house. And here you, the son of Hanani,
the seer, went out to meet him, and said to King Jehoshaphat,
Well, it takes courage to do this. Shouldst thou help the
ungodly? You say, Who is the ungodly?
Ahab, Jezebel, wickedest rascals ever lived. You think you should
help the ungodly and love them that hate the Lord? Therefore
is wrath upon thee from before the Lord. And that goes for you
if you support a church that doesn't believe in practice.
old-fashioned Bible salvation. If they don't believe in salvation
by grace, if they don't believe in separation from the world,
if they don't believe in the virgin birth of the Lord Jesus
Christ and you give a dime to that church, you are helping
the ungodly, and you are helping those who hate the Lord, and
the wrath of God will fall upon you and your family because of
it. We ought to support that which
is right. I could never support a church that wouldn't win souls.
I'd never go to a church that wouldn't give an invitation.
Never. I believe when we preach, we ought to expect them to come
to Christ. You know, our people come whether I give an invitation
or not. I mean, they come before I ever do give an invitation.
We allow them to start singing, and the altar will be filled
with people before we get through, or before I get through preaching.
A lot of times they're down all around the altar. You'd say,
well, that's emotion. Well, look, praise the Lord for
emotion if it'll change your life. I mean, that's more than
some of you all have. I mean, I'd rather have emotion
than have nothing. I know one thing, we don't waste
it in front of the television set watching somebody else's
wife make love to somebody else or lust to somebody else's husband,
al-Gandhi and divorce and all of the sodomites and lesbians
of the land. Oh, no. I believe it's time for
God's people to open their hearts to Jesus, others, Lord, Yes,
others. Let this my motto be. I like
these words. Help me in all the work I do
to ever be sincere and true and know that all I do for you must
needs be done for others. Let self be crucified and slain
and buried deep And all in vain may efforts be to rise again
Unless I'm gonna live for others And when my work on earth is
done When my new work in heaven's begun May I forget the little
old crown I've won while thinking still of others, others, Lord,
yes, others. Oh, let this my motto be, help
me to live for others that I may live like Thee. Our Father, I pray to take the
message today What do ye more than others? Lord, I want to
do more than others. Help me to do more than I've
ever done to win people to Christ. Thank you for 73 precious souls
that walked off into the watery grave with me last night. Thank
you, Lord, for those that have been saved. Even one of them
had just been saved the day before. So happy. Beautiful smile, testimony. Lord, I want to thank Thee for
letting me have a part in such a miraculous manner. Preach, preach, preach, I am
Mr. Preach, I am Mr. Man, the Man
of Galilee. He took away my love, I am Mr. Man, the Man of Galilee. you
