Anyhow, let's pray. Lord, we thank you so much for your goodness. We thank you, Lord, for just another Lord's Day. Lord, we thank you that we're able to be here and meet around your word and with your people. Lord, we just pray that you'd bless our time together. Help us, Lord, we pray, and speak to our hearts. Give us what we need in Jesus' name, amen.
All right, Brother Travis is coming. And the youth can head to their class. I'll be up here in a second, guys. Tell you everything you need to know.
Hey, man. Good morning. Good morning, everybody.
All right, Luke chapter six, we're going to pick up same spot we was last week because we didn't get through it. I had two other points that I had kind of left off and so we're going to add them today and run out, run at it. So last week we had talked about, where are we at, Luke 6, 17. Says, and he came down with them and stood in the plain in the company of his disciples and a great multitude of people out of Judea and Jerusalem and from the sea of the coast of Tyre and Sidon, which came to hear him and to be healed of their diseases. and they came they that came were vexed with unclean spirits and they were healed and the whole multitude sought to touch him for there went virtue out of him and he healed them all amen and last week we kind of focused mainly on 17 um in that in in that it was just the the power of christ's presence and like who he was and just being around Him and Him being that light and how men are automatically drawn to that light and how we should be that light. Amen.
And here today we're going to be looking more so at His healing for every need and His power to do so and His grace and His virtue. And so let's look at the text again and we'll get into it. It says, and he came down with them and stood in the plain in the company of his disciples and a great multitude of people out of all Judea and Jerusalem from all the sea of Kosa, Tyre, and Sidon, which came to hear of him and to be healed of their diseases.
And also, last week, he pointed out that Tyre and Sidon, those were more Gentile nations, right? They were more pagan and more pagan. even more so lost than those of Jerusalem. And it's simply because these, they had the true God, but they're trying to keep to the law. And then you have these that are just like so far out there, they have false gods and all of that.
Sorry, let's get back to it says which came to hear him and to be healed of their diseases So they all came with the intent and with a purpose as to be healed of their diseases, which means these people they had issues verse 18 says and they that were vexed with the unclean spirits and they that They were healed in the whole multitude sought to touch him for there went virtue out of him and he healed them all Amen
And so today, as we're looking at this again, we're looking at this massive crowd that comes to him from every direction, all these places, they're all sick, they're all broken, these are tormented with unclean spirits, and they all have needs that are too much for them to deal with, which is why they're going to Christ, because they believe that he is able to do something about it, amen?
And the Bible tells us here that He heals them all. As it says in verse number 19 there, that He healed all of them, everybody that came. He didn't turn anybody away and He healed every single one of them. And because where Jesus is, that's where the healing is, amen? And so the first thing we're gonna look at is the power of Christ and His healing for every need. Go with me to Matthew chapter four. Matthew chapter four. Yeah, go to Matthew 4. I'll tell you when we get there. Matthew chapter 4. I'm in 17. I'll be there in a second. What is it? No. 23. I'm on the wrong page still.
Says, and Jesus went about all Galilee teaching in their synagogue and preaching the gospel of the kingdom and healing all manner of sicknesses and all manner of diseases among the people. Amen? Sounds like Jesus. Says, and his fame went throughout all of Syria and brought unto him all the sick people that were taken with diverse diseases and torments and those which were possessed with devils and those which were lunatic and those which were palsy and he healed them. Amen. He didn't heal the first 10 people that could get to the door. He didn't heal the ones that had the golden ticket. Amen. He healed all of them.
It says, and there followed him a great multitude of people from Galilee and from Decapolis and from Jerusalem and from Judea and from beyond to Jordan. Right? There was nothing that These people could come with it was too much for Christ said to restore it to take on to heal right there. There was nothing I mean if you look through that again, this is a healing all manner of sicknesses and all manner of diseases among people, and his fame went throughout Syria, and because of that, they brought unto him all the sick people that were taken out of diverse diseases, torments, that's demon possession, those that were possessed with devils, or I guess torments could be something else, or probably just more like chronic illnesses and pains and things. It says, and those which were lunatic, and those which had the palsy, and he healed them. Every single one of them, praise God.
Go with me to Mark 5. Mark chapter 5. Where am I going, Brother Wilhelm? Uh-oh. We're looking at the woman with the issue of blood here, verse number 25, Mark 5, 25 says, and a certain woman, which had the issue of blood 12 years, had suffered, or actually, we can go up, because there is more than one situation going on here. He's actually on his way somewhere else, go to 21. So then when Jesus was passed over again, the ship onto the other side, this is after he was talking about, what was it? Am I on work for, yeah, okay. 21, we'll just go there, sorry. It says, and when Jesus was passed over again unto the ship on the other side, people gathered unto him, and he was nigh unto the sea, right? He hadn't even gotten on the shore yet, and the people were coming.
One of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name, and when he saw him, fell at his feet, and besought him greatly, saying, my little daughter lieth at the point of death, I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her as she may be healed and she shall live. All right. So this is that's kind of the cutoff. And so Jesus is going now. So then Jesus went with him and much people followed him and thronged him. Why were these people following him? because they want to be healed, too, because they had faith in what he could do. They knew who he was and what he was capable of. It says, And Jesus went with him, and much of the people followed him and thronged him.
And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years, had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had. Think about that. What is something that somebody can suffer of physicians? Many things. Right, and so it could be invasive examinations, it could be surgeries, it could be fill in the blank, right? Said this and had suffered many things of many physicians, right? She's been dealing with this her whole life and has spent all that she had and had and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse.
When she heard that Jesus came in the press behind and touched his garment, first she said, if I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. What told her that? Faith did, right? Faith, this is in straightway the fountain of her, or if I may touch but his clothes I shall be whole. In straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up and she felt her body that she was healed of her plague. Notice that, in straightway it was dried up and she felt her body that she was healed immediately. or healed of that plague.
And Jesus immediately, knowing himself that the virtue had gone out of him, turned about in the press and said, who touched my clothes? And his disciples said unto him, thou seest a multitude throwing at thee, and sayest thou, who touched me? And he looked around about and see her that had done this thing.
But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, Right? She knew what was done. Man, that's a whole message in itself. Praise God for that. It's like my mind just went elsewhere right there. Because when you get saved, you feel that salvation, right? You know what had actually taken place. Man, praise God.
Exactly, but the woman fearing and trembling knowing what was done in her came and fell down before him And told him all the truth and he said unto her daughter thy faith hath made thee whole right She was being healed when she had the thought that she needs to go touch him, right? Says Wow or a daughter thy faith had made thee whole there wasn't nothing special about his clothes like where Jesus clothes come from and His mother probably made them, right? Like, I mean, seriously, like they weren't special linen sent down from heaven or anything. Like God didn't pack him a bag when he impregnated Mary with the Holy Spirit. He didn't pack him a bag for his three-month clothes, his six-month clothes, his nine-month clothes, his 10-year clothes, right? There wasn't nothing special about that, but it's her faith that healed her.
It says, while he yet spake, there came the ruler of the synagogue's house, certain which said, thy daughter is dead. Right, this is after, remember, he's on his way because this man came to him and was saying that my daughter is really sick, she is dying, and this isn't good, I need you to come help. Jesus is coming, and while they are going to his house to heal her, These other people are coming after him, and this woman touches him, and she is healed in the process. And so now we're back to him going to this man's house.
It says, while he yet spake, in verse 35, there came from a certain ruler at a synagogue's house certain which said, thy daughter is dead. Why troublest thou the master any further? Amen. Think about that, how much we limit Christ and God and what he's able to do. Right? Because we believe that there's no more hope. Because we believe there can't nothing be done, but we forget that God is the creator of life itself. Right? And all things. And as we see through here, that every single sickness, every single disease, every form of sin, it's all subject to Christ. Amen? Just like we are. So that as soon as Jesus heard that the word, verse 36, was spoken, he said unto the ruler of the synagogue, be not afraid, only believe. Same thing that that woman had to do, right? He says, thy faith hath made thee whole. Be not afraid, only believe.
And he suffered no man to follow him, say Peter and James and John, the brother of James. And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue and seeth the tumult and them that wept and wailed greatly. And when they had come in, he saith unto them, why make ye this ado and weep? The damsel is not dead, but sleepeth.
And they laughed him to scorn, but when he had put them all out, he taketh the father, and the mother, and the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth into where the damsel was lying. And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, yes, Talithia to my church. You guys take that? Which is being interpreted, damsel, I say unto thee, arise. And straightway the damsel arose and walked, and she was of the age of 12 years old, and they were astonished with great astonishment.
Think about that. They show up to this house. This multitude is following him after he just healed this woman in the process of going. These people are standing outside, they're crying, they're mourning. The daughter that he was going to go heal from his sickness, she was on her deathbed already. She is officially dead. They say there's nothing that you can do. They mock him, they laugh at him. He goes inside and she's up now. Amen? I don't know how many deceased people y'all have been around, but you can tell when somebody's not there anymore, right? But the fact of the matter is, is that that's not too much for Christ, amen?
Go with me to Matthew chapter eight. Yes sir, Matthew chapter eight. Brother Willa, help me tell you where we're going. Every sickness, everything is subject to Christ, amen? Verse number one. This is a leper. It says, when he had come down from the mountain, a great multitude followed him. Why are they following him? Because they have faith in what he could do, amen? Because they know who he is. It says, and behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. And Jesus put forth his hand and touched him, saying, I will be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleaned. And Jesus said unto him, see that thou tellest no man, but go thy way, show thyself to the priest, and offer a gift that Moses commanded for a testimony unto them. Amen? Amen. God is good, y'all.
This tells us that if we're sick today and we're coming to the same Christ, the same God that healed all these people, right, that did all these things, that rose the dead, that healed the leopard, that, I mean, that healed the woman with the issue of blood, I mean, it's the same God, amen? And he is able to do these very same things. But as we see, it's as your faith be, so it is, amen?
In Matthew chapter, did I tell you to go to eight? Yes, we're there. Go to verse number five. Or not five, yeah, that's where we left off, right? Says, and Jesus was entered into Capernaum, and there came unto him a centurion beseeching him and saying, Lord, my servant lie at that home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented. And Jesus said unto him, I will come and heal him. And Satyrion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof, but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. Right, think about that. I mean, we're gonna get to... where it's going, but the thing is, is that this man's faith, these other people, they needed Jesus to come to their house, right, to heal them. They needed to touch Jesus. They needed to be where Jesus is, and Jesus had to be there, but this man's faith was greater than that, right? He said, speak the word only, and she'll be healed. She's not here, or he's not, my servant's not here, but I know that if you tell him that he is healed, then he will be healed, right?
And it says, the centurion answered and said, Lord, I'm not worried, thou shalt just come under my roof, but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me, and I say to this man, go, and he goeth, and to another, come, and he cometh, and to my servant, do this, and he doeth it. When Jesus heard it, he marveled and said unto them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
And the difference between that faith is that he had faith that Christ could do something even though Christ wasn't there, right? The same faith that we need to have today. Christ isn't here, right? I'm not gonna be able to walk Christ over to my dad's house and ask him to heal him. but I can pray to God, amen? And my faith says that God can heal him, amen? And this is the faith that Christ wants us to have, that although he is not present, it says, blessed is he that hath not seen but hath believed, right?
Yeah, but anyways, it says, verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. And I say unto you that many shall come from the east and from the west and shall sit down with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. But the children of the kingdom shall be cast into the outer darkness, and there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. And Jesus said unto the satyrian, go thy way as thou hast believed. So be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed that same hour. Amen? Christ didn't even have to be there. The man didn't have to touch Christ's garment. I mean, he didn't have to lay hands on him. He didn't have to do any of that, right? Amen.
Where's that verse that I need? Where'd it go? James 5, 16. Confess your faults one to another. Pray one for another. Amen. This man was praying for his servant. Says that he may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. Amen? But it takes a righteous man to be praying. And it takes somebody who's right with God to be a righteous man to be praying. Amen? It takes somebody who's not selfish. It takes somebody that's not worried about themselves, but is worried about their neighbor and their neighbor's neighbor and somebody else other than themself. Amen?
Because those are the ones that God wants to work in. Right? God wants to bless you, but he don't want you to be the only one that's blessed, amen? We can't just be blessed of God. We are blessed of God because we are blessing others in the name of God, amen? It's not just these physical infirmities also, he also heals these spiritual bondages. As Luke 6, he says, they came with unclean spirits and he healed them too, right? First John 3 8 says he that committed sin is of the devil for the devil sinneth from the beginning for this purpose The Son of God was manifested that he might destroy the works of the devil Amen go with me to Luke 8 We'll be there in a couple weeks or months, but We're go to now Luke 8 um no one and it came to pass afterward that he went throughout every city and village preaching and showing glad tidings of the kingdom of god and the 12 were with him and a certain woman which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities mary magna called magdalene or Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils.
Amen? Seven devils, not just one. Like I don't know how one, I mean, I guess it takes Christ casting them out to be able to figure out how many were cast out of them, but. I imagine one devil is just as bad as seven devils, right? Amen. But again, nothing is too hard for Christ. There's no limitations. There's nothing that is too difficult for him. And he shows us here that a certain woman which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils, and Joanna, the wife of Choose Herod, Stuart, and Susanna, and many others, which ministered unto him of their substance.
" Go to Mark 9. I think that that would be more so like schizophrenia type stuff, you know what I mean, where they have these multiple personalities, but none of them are good. What is it? No, sir. You struck out, brother. No more, you struck out.
Mark 9, verse number 14. Oh, sorry, I'm in eighth. Mark 9 verse number 14 says, And when he came to his disciples, he saw a great multitude about them and the scribes questioning with them. And straightway all the people where they beheld him were greatly amazed and running to him and saluted him.
Why? because the disciples are failing, but Christ is here, amen? And he asked the scribe, he says, what question are you with them? Like, why are you bothering my disciples like that? He says, and one of the multitude answered and said, master, I have brought unto thee my son. which hath a dumb spirit, and wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him, or wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him, and foameth, and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away, and spake to his disciples that they should cast out, and they could not.
And he answered and saith, O faithless generation. Why would he say that to them? Amen. Exactly. Because it's the faith that does it, right? Their faith was in the disciples, hoping that the disciples could do something, right? So faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I suffer you? Bring him unto me, amen. It's not about the disciples. It's about the power of God that's in the disciples, amen.
And they brought him unto him. And when they saw him straightway, the spirit tear him and he fell on the ground and wallowed and foaming. And he asked his father, he asked his father, how long has it ago since this came unto him? He said of a child, and oft times it cast him into the fire and the waters to destroy him. But if thou canst do anything, have compassion on us and help us.
Jesus said unto him, if thou canst believe, all things are possible unto him that believeth. Amen? All things are possible to him that believeth. In a straight way, the father of the child cried out and said with tears, Lord, I believe. Help thou my unbelief.
When Jesus saw the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him and enter no more into him. And the spirit cried and rent him sore and came out of him, and he said, as one dead, insomuch as many said he is dead, right? The spirit came out of him and the boy fainted, apparently. He said, but Jesus took him by one hand and lifted him up, and he arose. And when he was coming to the house, the disciples asked prudely, why could we not cast him out? And he said, this kind only comes by prayer and fasting and so forth.
But we see here again that his boy is demon-possessed, right? Just like Mary Magdalene. Just like, I mean, even say us before we got saved. But every single time, we see the same thing. They are healed by faith.
says I believe help my unbelief like Lord wherever I am lacking that is going to stop him from being healed help me with that amen and that's where we need to be at also in our prayer life to God is that wherever we are lacking, like we can think that we have the utmost faith, but I'm telling you, we do not. And hopefully 10 years from now, you can look back and see that you have grown in that area, right? Just as I hope that I have grown in that area. And it's just that we really need to strive to be closer to God in all areas. Because if we ask God where we are lacking, he will show us, amen? Every single time.
And I mean, we see here that Nothing is too hard for him. Jesus is able to do anything. So what is stopping him from doing that? Whose faith? Exactly. Our faith. I mean, at this point, the disciples, they were out preaching the gospel and they was healing and they was doing these things. And so whenever they come onto this spot, I mean, I imagine it's the same thing. Like if they don't have faith in the God that they are representing. then they're not able to do it.
Yeah, I understand that part, but it's also the fact that I don't know. I don't think they had to fast and pray before they did anything, because they cast out devils from other people. But Jesus didn't fast and pray before, so... Or maybe he was fasted before he came. Yeah, yeah, definitely. All right, amen, moving forward.
But not only does Jesus save and not only does he heal, but he restores completely, amen? And that's the difference between what we can do and what Jesus can do. In 2 Corinthians 5, 17, it says, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature, amen? Old things pass away, behold, old things become new. He doesn't just fix pieces, he restores that person completely, amen?
And like the paralyzed man in Luke 5 we looked at a couple of weeks ago, Jesus, Before he healed this man in his legs and his ability to walk in things he healed his soul, right? he saved him and then he said take up that bed and walk and that's why when we when they came from everywhere in Luke 6 it was it was not because of So they can get some quick fix. It's because they knew that Jesus can restore completely. Amen
And the same Jesus, as I said, he hasn't changed. In Hebrews 13, it says, Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, forever. Amen? Jesus is the same. Amen? The same healing Christ in Luke 6 is the same one as with us today. As he says, he says, as your faith is, so shall it be, right? Go back to Luke 6 here. Let's look at his virtue real quick. We'll try to move forward on things.
Luke chapter six, I think we was in 18 now. Yeah, it says, and they were vexed with the unclean spirits, and they were all healed, or they were healed. And the whole multitude sought to touch him, for there went out virtue out of him, and he healed them all. What is virtue? Somebody describe virtue. Back row, what's virtue? Back row, right side. Virtue, just give me a thought, somebody. In your security, the security of security. OK, we'll take that. So I don't want dictionary.com nothing, nothing from the sound booth and computers. What is the virtue of Christ? It went out from him, OK? Holy power, it's the power, right, divine power, amen? It's the power of God, amen? And why were the crowds pushing in? Because they believed that they could just touch him, something supernatural would happen, right? They believed in that virtue that he had, they believed in his power, amen? And this faith, that's what reaches for him, amen? The reason why they came, the reason why they were led was because They had faith in him.
James 4, 8, it says, draw nigh unto God and he will draw nigh unto you, amen. Jeremiah 29, 9, 13 says, you shall seek me and find me, amen. Psalm 34, 18, and 19 says, the Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart and save as such as be of a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivereth him out of them all, amen. The woman who touched the hem of his garment in Mark 5, Jesus said, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole. Amen? Her faith reached, but his virtue is what reaches back and connects them dots. Amen?
In Ephesians 2, 8, 9, it says, For by grace are ye saved through faith, not of yourselves. is a gift of God. Amen. That is a hard verse to say by itself. I even said Ephesians 2, 8 and 9. I only have Ephesians 2, 8 on here. For by grace are you saved through faith. Right? The ten lepers were healed and nine returned. Yet Christ healed them all. Yes, only one returned. But did Christ know that only one would return? Only one would be truly thankful? But his grace He healed all of them, amen. Knowing only one would truly be thankful. All 10 were still healed. He heals the undeserving every day, amen. His grace reaches lower than our failures.
In Romans 5.20 it says, where sin abounded, grace did much more abound, right? Jesus did not just start where we was our best in our life, right? He starts when we was the weakest, when we realized that we were a sinner, when we realized that we have come short of the glory of God and our sin deserves hell, amen? That's where Christ started at. In James 4.10 it says, humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord and he shall lift you up. Amen?
paralyzed man Luke 5 before he restored his body he restored his soul he says thy sins are forgiven thee then he said take up thy bed and walk right thy sins are forgiven thee now because your sins are forgiven take up your bed and walk right first he sets our feet upon a rock then he establishes our goings and puts a new song in our mouth amen Y'all need to wake up. But that grace that draws us to Christ when we cannot reach on our own. Amen. When we hit that floor of understanding, there is nothing we can do to save ourselves, right? That's where grace is extended. Once we come to that point, that's where grace is able to reach out for us. Yes, His virtue flows out when we reach, but it's grace that draws us close enough to reach. Amen.
You guys gotta follow me. John 6, 44 says, no man cometh unto me except the Father which sent me draw him. I had to throw that in because I couldn't remember where it was last week, so I went back and looked it up. Romans 2, 4 says, the goodness of God, that's the grace of God, amen, the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance. Amen. It wasn't your idea to repent and to trust God. It's God's grace and His goodness that allows us to come to the under conviction to be able to realize that we need a savior. Every hurting person in Luke 6 is standing before Jesus because grace led them there. Right? There's a lot of people that didn't come, but there sure was a lot of people that did come.
And when, and grace brings us to where the virtue and the power of God is, and it, we receive that, but only by faith. And that's why it's so important that when God speaks to us, that we, that we respond, yes, that there is something that comes from it, because as I said, no man cometh unto the Father except I keep quoting that wrong, the spirit draws him. And so if the spirit is drawing, it didn't draw somebody else, right? It drew you, which means God is speaking to you. And so at that point, you accept what he's saying, and he's able to restore, and he's able to heal, and he's able to forgive, and he's able to make things right, or you reject it, and your heart is hardened, and you are not in favor with God anymore, right?
But this grace, it never stops giving, it never stops healing, and it never stops keeping. In 2 Corinthians 12, 9, it says, my grace is sufficient for thee, right? When Paul was talking about he had prayed to the Lord thrice that he may remove this thorn in the flesh, and he said, I sought the Lord thrice, and this and that, but then he said that God responded to him that my grace is sufficient for thee. And it really is, because grace brings us to the healer, and it keeps us after we're healing, and grace strengthens us in the battles that we deal with, and grace restores us when we fall, amen?
But Christ's grace is, it's, I had quoted a Beulah Land song, it's the fountain that never runs dry, amen? ♪ It never will run dry, oh yes I'm tasty ♪ Y'all want me to start singing? No? But that's the grace of God, amen? And Jesus extends his grace to the sick, to the broken, to the sinful, to the struggling. And that's why in Hebrews 4, 16, it tells us that he's been in touch with the infirmities of flesh such as we are yet without sin. It says, let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of God. Amen? Come boldly unto the throne of God. It's not because we're entitled or because we deserve it, but because he is gracious. Amen? Because we understand God's love. We understand God's grace. No, we don't deserve it, but we know that it is there because he loves us. Amen?
And just like how Luke 6, he healed them all. He wants to heal us all still. He wants to heal our friends. He wants to heal our family. He wants to restore everything that's not right. He wants to fix what's broken. But as your faith be, it is, so will it be. Amen. The same Christ that we looked at today that healed the sick, that made the dead rise, that made the lame walk, that healed the lepers, that fixed the woman's issue of blood, that cast out these devils, it's the same God that we serve today. And it's all the same. By grace are you saved through faith, not of works. There's nothing that we could do about it. There's nothing these people could do about it. That's why they all sought after Christ. because he's the one that can. Amen? Amen. It's good stuff. Amen. Wow. And that's really good timing. Yeah. Wow. We're just gonna pray and we'll take our break. Amen.
Lord, we thank you so much for your goodness. We thank you, Lord, that you are able, even if we are not. And Lord, we just pray, Father, that we would have faith in you to do all things. Lord, when the rubber really meets the road, may we trust you and believe that you are able. Lord, we pray, Father, that you would just bless the rest of our services today. We look forward to all that you're gonna do in Jesus' name.
