My friend Jimmy Sotomayor said, what is your position about us all standing before the judgment seat of Christ that we may receive for the things done in our body, whether they're good or bad? Our sins are always besetting us. Sin seems to be a horrendous thing and always a horrible question. But you know, the Lord didn't say a word about sin in those verses. Did he? He said, I'm going to judge you for the things done in your body, whether it's good or bad. First of all, I want to tell you why I believe it cannot possibly talk about sin. The Lord said he had moved our sins away from us as far as the east is from the west. Matthew said his name would be called Jesus because he would save us from our sins, all of our sins. The new covenant says, God says, affirm their sins and iniquities Will I remember no more? If that's true, brother and sister, how will he bring them up at the judgment seat of Christ when they're all under the blood? I know you're like I am. We sang that song a minute ago, Lord and lover of my soul. The man who wrote that song, said, I'm all vile. We all know that we're all vile. We understand that. None of us are going to live a life of perfection in this present world, in this body of humiliation. Then he asked me a question about Is it that God judges us for our sin when we don't forgive people that sin against us? You know, one of the most profound teachings of all the New Testament is that we can't even pray and expect an answer unless we forgive those that have trespassed against us. And I'm here to tell you that if we harbor hatred and animosity and grudges in our heart against any man, no matter who that man may be and no matter what has happened, if we will not forgive that person of his trespasses, we can expect that God will do to us exactly as he did the servant of the king who went and took hold of his fellow servant and demanded that he pay him and kept him in prison until he paid the last bargain. And I say to you that if you won't forgive people for what they've done against you, God is going to deliver you to the tormentors until the last farthing is paid in this life. You're going to be a miserable wretch. You can never have any sense of forgiveness because you're holding a grudge against someone, I take that. If you can't find the grace of God to turn it loose, you're going to have trouble your whole life, but you're going to have it in this life. And connected with that is God judges us now. We're going to be judged before the judgment seat of Christ, but he's judging us now. Now, you're right close. Turn to 1 Corinthians chapter 11. I want you to read this with me. Verse 31 and 32. It's in the context of the Lord's Suffering. But we are commanded to judge ourselves at that time, especially that time. But look at this. For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. If I have wronged, If I have done something amiss, if I have sinned against the Lord, and if I don't judge it myself and say that that's what I've done before God, if I don't confess it to Him and receive cleansing, I can expect God's chastening hand upon me for that. Now notice, but when we are judged, we won't judge ourselves. So if we would, we wouldn't be judged. But when we are judged, we are chastened to the Lord that we should not be condemned with the world. Brethren, God judges us by chastening us in this life. I know most of Christendom won't. They wouldn't touch us with a 10-foot pole. But I think it's one of the grandest things that is taught in the Word of God. Brethren, despise not the chastening of the Lord. He doesn't do like your fathers did when your fathers hooked you because they wanted to. He does it for our good. that we might be partakers of his holiness. And Hebrews chapter 12 says that every son, every son, without exception, that God receives, he chases. That means that every one of you are being chastened by the Lord for things in your life that come up, You don't confess right away. You're going to feel the wrath of God upon your life. God may take part of your paycheck. He may take part of your health. He may take part of your well-being. He knows exactly where to touch you so that he gets your attention and right back on the thing that he wants you to focus on. Brother. Now, I said it wasn't sin. But I think it's our work. Every one of us have a work. Are you listening? Every one of us have a work. God has given you a talent, or maybe more than one, and given you a life work. In the scriptures we're taught, that when we begin our Christian life, We begin on the foundation of Jesus Christ. And we build upon that foundation. The life's work that you have, building on that foundation, will face the judgment fires of God at the judgment seat of Christ. Paul made that claim to the Corinthians. He said, if any man builds upon this foundation with gold, silver, precious stuff, wood, hay, or stubble, he said, the day shall declare the work of what sort it is, for it be tried by fire. Listen, wood, hay, and stubble won't stand that are not based upon the Word of God. That's why we're so sticky. That's why I cannot bear it when people say we, maybe we ought to compromise a little bit and not be such sticklers about the Word of God, about this point and that point and the other point. No, we can't do that because when we do, we start building with wood, hay and stubble and it's not gonna the test of fire in that day. And the Lord said, through Paul, to the Corinthian church, he said, if any man's work is burned, he'll suffer loss. I couldn't stand the thought of seeing my whole life go up in smoke, even though he himself would be saved, so as by fire, by the skin of his teeth, so to speak. I want a full reward. I want, sincerely want the Lord to say, I love to hear, well done. good and faithful servant, you've been faithful over a few things, just a few things, cause nobody can do a whole bunch of things but a few things. Enter thou into the joy of thy Lord. Now when we face, we're gonna stand before the generosity of Christ, and we're gonna face the things done in our body as a Christian. And God's gonna test it to see if it stands the test. The right kind of baptism, right kind of Lord's Supper, right kind of church construction, right kind of a preacher in the pulpit, right kind of deacon to take care of the church, even the discipline of the church, whenever it's called for. And most certainly, forgiveness, Christian love and sympathy, our whole life ought to be characterized by what God has taught us in his word. Don't move away from it. Stand on it because you're building with gold, silver, and precious stones. I've got some of this in writing and I'll send it to you tomorrow, the PDF. No exception. What can you say? You stand before the piercing eyes of a son of God. What can you say? I didn't know. I won't get it. I thought it'd be better for you. Well, everybody else, well, we're going to be there. But it's not our sin, not our sin. It's our life's work. God bless you.
