Completely finishing the book of Romans, we went through it verse by verse, and we did good. It didn't take us forever. Amen? And we're going to finish tonight. That's why I wanted to hurry up and try to make sure to get all through it. And it's just a Bible study, and I want you to learn some things, and that's what you need to do. You need to study. The Bible says, study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman, that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. It's the only place in the Bible that tells us the study, and it says rightly dividing the word of truth.
The reason you have to divide the word of truth is because the Bible is written in dispensational times. It means it's written What happened in the book of Genesis isn't the same as what happened in the book of Deuteronomy. Meaning, before the law was one way God dealt with somebody, and after the law, he dealt with somebody that way. And then when Christ came and took away the law, he deals with us in a different way. So you have to be able to rightly divide what is for Israel, what is for the church, and stuff like that. So the only way you're ever going to really know the Bible is to study it. Amen?
So let's just look at that. We're going to start in verse 17. In verse 17 is where we ended up last week in 16. Verse 17, are you there? It's in chapter 16. It says, now I beseech you, brethren. What's beseech you mean? begging you. I beseech you, brethren. This is important because something we don't do, something we don't teach, something you don't hear very often, but it's definitely in Scripture. He says, I beseech you, brethren, they mark them which cause divisions. Mark them. Make sure you take note of them. Make sure you know who they are, and make sure you stay away from them. That's what it says. It says, it says, I'm begging you, I beseech you, brother, to mark them which cause division and offenses contrary to the doctrine which you have learned. And do what? Avoid them.
You know what the biggest killer of churches are? It's murmuring and complaining. After service, I'm not in the kitchen. But for years, all I heard was, so-and-so said this, and so-and-so said this, and so-and-so said this. And this is what they're saying. Ah, Pastor, people are talking. I'm like, who? And it would always be a little group in the kitchen. And it's because there's always been somebody just yapping about stuff. And the Bible tells us, I'm not in there, so I don't hear it, and nor do I care, to be honest with you. But it says, Mark them which cause divisions and offenses contrary to the doctrine which you have learned.
Now the doctrine which you've learned is some serious doctrine in chapter 14 and 15. But we didn't actually do chapter 14, but I gave you homework to read it. Remember that? And it's more, to put it in a nutshell, it's all about this. It doesn't matter what you think, feel or believe. More important is what someone else thinks. Meaning this. Even if they're wrong, you should humble yourself. and not think you're better than them and not tell them you're wrong and get in arguments with them. Apostle Paul said it very clearly. He said, you know, I become all things to all people. He said, to the poor, I became like I was poor. To the rich, I became like I was rich. To the Jews, I became like, why? So I might win some of them. He didn't sit there and say, well, you're wrong. You got that wrong. You got that. And he said, some people are just weak in the faith. They're just weak. So it says that you don't condemn them. You try to help them along. And anyway, it's talking about loving and caring about people more than yourself, even when you know you're right.
But here, I want you to look in verse 17. I want you to think about Mark. We've got a bunch of verses, so you can either write them down, try to turn them. We're looking at 2 Thessalonians chapter 3. Then we're going to 1 Corinthians 5. But in 2 Thessalonians chapter 3. He got there before me and I have it marked. In 2 Thessalonians chapter 3, verse 14 and 15. It says, if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man and have no company with him. that he may be ashamed. Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother."
We can learn a lot from this because we don't do this in the New Testament Church these days. There's no real church discipline anymore. If someone in the church is drinking and cursing and acting stupid and foolish and doing bad things, and we know about it, we just kind of ignore it. But what we need to do, and the pastor needs to do, is go to them and let them know what you're doing is wrong. It's hurting you. It's hurting your family. It's the devil's getting in your life.
But you know what happens? People today, they just get mad, and they go to the church down the street. They stop going to this church, and they'll go to the church over there. And it's really sad. Back then, it was one church in one town. It was one church, so there was no other church to go to. So when he said, you know, don't even talk to them, don't even have fellowship with them, so they'll be ashamed, and they'll come back and humble themselves.
And listen, turn with me if you would, please, to 1 Corinthians chapter 5, and then we're going to 1 Timothy 6. 1 Corinthians chapter 5, are you there? You guys are quick on turning these pages. 1 Corinthians 5, 9 through 11. It says this, it says, I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators. He told you, he said, if there's people having sex outside of marriage, you don't company with them. You don't hang with them, you don't be friends with them.
It says, yet not altogether with fornicators. Listen to what it said. He says, I told you I wrote an epistle not, and he's talking about when he said people that were sinning in the church. But then he said, yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world. See what he's talking about, he's saying, Don't company with the people in the church that are fornicators. Because the people that are outside the church, that's everybody. And look what he says, he says, yet not all together with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters. Look what he says, for then you must needs go out of the world.
So he's not talking about the people out of the church, he's talking about the people in the church. The people in the church that are so-called Christians need to know better. We should know better. There are certain things we know we ought not do. We ought not act. You should not be cursing ever. You should not be drinking and smoking and gambling and doing the things that everyone else used to do, that you used to do before you got saved. Amen? And it's a bad rep on the church. It's a bad rep on Jesus Christ. And we need to let people know it.
Anyway, let's look at this next verse. In 1 Timothy chapter 6. See, this isn't my opinion. This is the Bible. In 1 Timothy chapter 6. Are you there? In verse 3. It says this, if any man teach otherwise and consent not to the wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness, he is proud and he knows nothing. But doting about questions and strives of words, whereof comes envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds. and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness from such, what's it say to do? Withdraw yourself.
So we shouldn't be hanging with the people that you know are doing against what God says. And it's hard to, this isn't really taught much in the church anymore. Look in, in, in, I'm sorry, Philippians chapter 2, but it's the next verse, verse 18 in chapter 16. Verse 18 says this, it says, for they that are such, now read 17 again, I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions. offenses contrary to the doctrine which you've learned and avoid them for they are of such that serve not our Lord Jesus Christ but their own bellies and by good words and fair speeches they deceive the hearts of the simple
you see the reason he's saying this is not because of what they're not enough bear with me bear with me it's not just because of what they're doing it's because what they're doing is hurting others What they're doing is hurting the people around you. When you're in church and you're on a Sunday morning, and people come into church to hear the word of God, and they don't know the word of God, and you're on your cell phone, you're hurting them. When they come in and you're over there talking and talking while the guy's, when the man's preaching or someone's playing, that's hurting them. When you're over there and I'm being serious, you smell like alcohol, you smell like, and it's hurting them because they won't see any difference. And what happens is a soul just might not get saved. Someone comes into the church because of the way someone's acting.
So God, it isn't about the act that you're doing, it's about someone else. It's always about someone else. And that's what the whole book of Romans is about, thinking more about someone else than yourself. And you might say, well, I believe this. Okay, keep it to yourself. Don't hurt someone else. And that's the whole thing is God is so concerned about the souls of other people. And if you're saved today, you're saved. Amen. But so many people come in on Sunday morning, they're not saved. And we have to realize that it's not about you.
You know, the story about the pastor who got done preaching and he heard two teenage girls or young girls walking out and they said this, they said, you know, worship just wasn't that good today. And as they walked out and that pastor heard him say that, worship wasn't that good today? Worship wasn't that good, right? And that's the problem is people are looking to feel good in the worship when the worship is about you worshiping him and making him feel good. With your worship, that's what worship is. Making God feel good. Telling how God awesome he is. Worshipping... How can worship not be good unless you didn't do it good? You know what I mean? And so, just by one word like that coming out the door, people don't, worship wasn't that good today. It sticks in people. And that's what the Bible's talking about. There's people that just won't listen to doctrine, avoid them, don't hang with them. Look what it says in 18. It says, for they there are such that serve not the Lord Jesus Christ, but their own bellies. And by good words, fair speeches, they deceive the hearts of the simple. Philippians 2.21.
Philippians 2, and then we're going to go to Philippians 3, actually, after that. In Philippians 2.21, it says this. Are you there? For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ's. Think about that. Let that sink in and set on. Everyone seeks their own pleasure. Everyone seeks their own fun. Everyone seeks their own, you know what I mean? Church, I want this to be in church. I want to feel this way in church. I want, I want, I want. And you know what? It has nothing to do with us, does it? Always has to, it's what he wants. And if he wanted, and he certainly does, and if he wanted church to be absolutely quiet and boring, then that's what church should be. And thank God he doesn't. Thank God church, he tells us what heaven's like, amen. It's a shouting, praising, hallelujah place. It's a place where people are happy and rejoicing and singing and worshiping God in spirit and truth. And that's what the house of God should be also with.
Look in Philippians chapter three, look in verse 19. It says, whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame. Who are these people? Who mine earthly things. Man, we need to like just let sit on that for a while and like a mother hen on the egg and let that hatch. And let's just see what will come out of that. Who mined earthly things. Wow, I mind earthly things sometimes too much, Tony, you know what I mean? What happens is if you're minding earthly things, you're not minding heavenly things.
And in verse 21, now I'm always going back to the chapter we're in, and I am going a little quickly, because it is a Wednesday night, but in verse 21, I'm sorry, where we at, verse 19, it says, for your obedience has come abroad, 19 in Romans, we're back in Romans. It says, for your obedience has come abroad unto all men. And I am glad, therefore, on your behalf. But yet I would have you wise unto the things which are good and simple concerning evil things. This little teaching here, he says, I want you to be wise concerning the things that are good but simple, not knowing concerning the evil things. Isn't it great to know when you don't know? Do you hear what I said? Isn't it great to know when you don't know?
Hey, this rock, like, Forgive me, evil bunny, bunny boy, I don't know, whatever, it was gonna, what is it? So nobody should ever know that name. You know what I mean? Like, I'm just saying, who cares about, and these rap dudes and these people in Hollywood and these, we shouldn't even know who they are. And we shouldn't even care, right? And God said, I want you to be wise about things that are good and really simple about the things that are evil. We shouldn't know all about what all the evil stuff that's going on. We just shouldn't. You know why? Because we shouldn't mind earthly things. We should be minding heavenly things.
Look in verse 20. It says, in the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. I want you to look what he's talking about in there and look in Revelation chapter 12. Revelation chapter 12 is one of my favorite chapters in all the Bible. It tells us so much. And I want you to see somebody saying that soon Satan's gonna be crushed under your feet. So I don't know when he's talking about, so let's look with the Bible. Where else could we look except the Bible?
And in Revelation chapter 12, Look in verse 10, I love this verse. It says, and I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, now has come salvation. Like saying, now has come the real salvation and strength and the kingdom of our God and the power of his Christ for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accuses them before our God day and night.
Now here we have in chapter 12 of Revelation about the war in heaven. And if you look in, from verse one down to where is it in verse three it says about the great great red dragon having seven heads ten horns seven crowns on his head in verse seven and there was war in heaven michael and his angels fought against the dragon and the dragon fought and his angels and prevailed not, neither was there, T-H-E-I-R, place found any more in heaven.
Talking about the angels that are able to leave the earth and go to the presence of the Lord. Job 1 tells us about that. Job chapter 2 tells us that there's time where angels can go up, but Satan comes along with them. And Satan can talk to God. And what does Satan do when he talks to God? Look in verse 10 again. It says, down in the end, it says, for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, look, which accuses them before our God day and night.
There's so much there to learn, and it's very interesting, because what happens is, you ever been tempted before? You ever been tempted? There's evil spirits out there that are trying to tempt you, to get you to sin, to get you to do what you don't want to do, that you know is wrong. And sometimes you're weak, And they get you, and you fall into temptation, and you sin. Well, the devil's got you to do it. The devil's going to report to Satan. And they say, yeah, he did this. Satan goes and reports to God. And God says, look what he did. Look what he did. Look what she did. Look what they did.
And God, if that sin is on you, and the devil's right, God has got to allow Satan, allow him to do something in your life, because the devil is like a pit bull that's on the other side of the fence that wants to destroy you. And the only thing that's stopping him is the fence. And what happens is, is we know by the book of Job, in the book of Job, that God said that the devils were trying to get Job, but he couldn't because of the hedge of protection around him. And the devil talks to God and says, the only reason he's blessing you and loves you is because you bless him. If you let me touch him, He would curse you to your face, and God has a deal with Job, and he says, go ahead, but don't kill him. And the devil tears up Job, but Job still blesses the Lord.
And then the same thing happens in chapter 2, but it tells us what happens here every day. Every day the devil is accusing God's children before his face, only for the only reason that God will allow the devil to tear them up. And you know what? God allows it to happen for our good. Because if we keep falling into sin and nothing bad happened to us, we're gonna keep doing it.
You know, I appreciate my parents every time they gave me a whooping. I do. It didn't really hurt that much. I was kind of tough. But I appreciated everyone because I deserved everyone. I appreciate that I had the fear of God on me. I remember my friends growing up would go out and do some really bad stuff. And I'm like, no, I'm not doing that. My dad will kill me, my stepdad. He'd kill me. I had the fear of God on me, right, to stop me to doing stuff.
Well, if there's no fear of God and there's no repercussions for what you're doing, now what can be the repercussion for a Christian? When you are walking with God and everything's good, what happens when you sin? What can be the repercussion? Name one thing that comes to your mind. Guilt is definitely one. What else? Keep coming. What's that? What can be the repercussion on you because you've sinned? Shame, definitely. Guilt and shame. What else? Not feeling the closeness of the Lord, lack of peace. Your peace is now all of a sudden that you had is gone. Your joy is gone. Your strength, the joy of the Lord, your strength is gone. Now you got worry and you got fear just like Adam did before. He's like, oh, I was afraid.
So what does the Bible tell us to do? It says when immediately when you sin, what are we supposed to do? Go to the Lord. In 1 John it says if we confess our sins, He's faithful and He's just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all... So whenever you do something you shouldn't do, immediately drives, oh God, I'm so sorry, please forgive me. And immediately He forgives you. So by the time the devil gets up there and goes, did you see what Anton did? God's like, what are you talking about? There's no sin, because it's washed under the blood of Christ.
But if you don't confess it, and it's still on you, now the devil's got right, because it's all about being a lawyer, and it's about laws, and this is how the devil and God works. He works under laws and stuff like that. So the devil comes and says, look, this is what they did. And God's going to say, OK, devil, go ahead, but don't touch them, don't this, that. And the devil's going to start attacking you in ways that depression comes in. and all of a sudden anger is in, and all of a sudden, you know, you're stressed out like crazy, and I've been there, trust me, and that's all this happened, so God will say, you'll say, what did I do wrong? And then you get in prayer and you start asking God, what did I do wrong, Lord? Why is this happening? And the Holy Spirit reveals to you. Remember this? Remember this? And you say, oh, Lord, I'm so sorry. Please forgive me. And it's washed under the blood and it's forgiven.
That's why God allows the devil to do it so that we'll get repent, get right with God. All these things are very, very important. But that's how you crush the devil under your head. Because look in Revelation chapter 12 in verse 10, we read it. And in verse 11, it says, and they overcame him by the blood of the lamb. Do you have the blood? Do you have the blood of lamb? Yes, you do. They overcame him. They crushed him under his feet by the word of your testimony. You got a testimony? Yes, you do. That's your strength and power. The last thing it says, and they loved not their lives, even unto death. That's this tough one. We can use our testimony. We can confess him before Christ and call the blood down. Amen?
But you know how the devil gets in? You love your life more than you love God. You love your house and your comforts and your things like that. You know, one proof is, thank you all for being here on Wednesday night. On a chilly, cold night, you worked all day, right? Anytime you worked all day, it's so easy to go home. Maybe the fireplace is going, maybe you got a cup of cocoa. You know what I mean? And you're like, oh, this is toasty and warm. I don't think I'm going to church today. My point is it's so easy to care about yourself more than it is God. And I give you so much props. You guys came out on a Wednesday night, a little chilly night. You know what I mean? And it's just good because this is the things we need to do to overcome him, to say, you know what? It's not about me. It's about him. It's not about my comfort. It's about what I need from God, what God needs from me. And these things are all important.
Now, that said, back in Romans, and I am trying to move and talk fast, but if you look in verse 22, it says, this is important, and he goes on, verse 21 and then 22, he says, Timotheus, my work fellow, and Lucius, and Jason, and Sophotera, my kinsmen, salute you. He says, Tertius, who wrote this epistle, Salute you in the Lord. Who wrote this epistle? It says Tertius. I thought Paul wrote it. Did you ever notice that? See, Paul wrote this. Paul couldn't write real good. Paul's hands were crushed, being stoned. Paul was almost blind, and he couldn't see real good, and he couldn't write, so he would dictate, and others would write for him. He had a scribe write for him. So I want you to look at this, because this is important knowledge to know about the scriptures.
I want you to look with me, if you would, at Galatians chapter 11. Look in Galatians. This is just some stuff for you to know. And it'll give you some information. If you look in Galatians, what did I tell you? 611? Is that what I told you? No. Well, I know that. It's Galatians chapter 4, verse 11. No, verse 15. Galatians 4.15. I'm sorry. It says, where is then that blessing? He's talking to the church at Galatia. He's saying, where is then that blessedness you spoke of? For I bear you record that if it had been possible, you would have plucked out your own eyes and have given them to me. Because when he was there, he couldn't see good. His eyes were bad. Many believe it's because he got stoned, and he got beat, and he got this, and his hands were crushed, and he couldn't write good, and he couldn't see good. That's why you'll see in another place, Apostle Paul said, when I preach, my speech is contemptible, but when I write, it's powerful. So that's why we have Apostle Paul writing 13 of the books of the New Testament, amen? Because he was a very powerful writer. But when you saw Paul and you heard Paul, you were like, this guy's got some problems. And it's just neat to know that God will use the power of God on you no matter what your speech problem is, no matter what your handwriting is, no matter what your spelling is, because I can't spell and God still uses me, amen?
I want you to look in Galatians 6.11. That's what I was looking at the first time. In Galatians 6.11, it says this. You see how large of a letter I've written unto you with my own hand? See, Apostle Paul wrote the book of Galatians by himself. And he said, do you see how large of a letter? It's only six chapters. He's not talking about long. He's talking about how big the words were. Because Apostle Paul's writing and his eyesight was so bad, he had to write really big. So the letter, when you got this letter from Paul, whatever it was written on at the time, it wasn't written regular like then. It was written with these big letters. It was different kind of writing. And there's proof of that. He says, you see how large of a letter I've written unto you with my own hand.
Look with me, if you would, in 1 Corinthians chapter 16. And then we're going to 2 Thessalonians 3. 1 Corinthians 16, I think it's verse 21. Yes. It says, the salutation of me, Paul, with my own hand. You see that? The 1 Corinthians, the 2 Corinthians was dictated, and someone else wrote it, but it was Paul's word. Do you understand that?
But Paul, at the end of the letter, would always give a salutation, hello, it's me, with his own hand on the original writings, so everyone knew it was Paul writing it. Or everyone knew it was really Paul that did it. You know what I mean? And so it's just interesting little things. It says, because it says this in a couple places, the salutation of me, Paul, with my own hand was kind of like his flair. He would speak, others would write it down. He'd have a scribe with him, even when he was, most of the time when he was in prison. But at the very end, he would say hello. Hey guys, it's me with my own hand and he would write it and you see like the writing all sudden it'd be all scribbly letters and big because Paul's hands were all crushed and it was bad. Just neat stuff to look at.
Look at 2 Thessalonians chapter three. It's interesting though, isn't it? You're getting learned more about Paul. In 2 Thessalonians chapter three, look in verse 17 with me. Again, it says the salutation of Paul with my own hand. Look what he says, which is the token of every epistle, so I write. So it was a token, Tony, that at the end of the epistle, he would always write, hello, it's me, how you doing guys, whatever, you know what I mean, to Anton? So that they would see it's his own writing, but his, cause his writing was pretty bad. And that's why he's always got someone to do it. A very interesting stuff, if you ask me, amen?
And so I want you to look at, hurry up, and we're going to try to finish chapter 16. Are you there? Back to chapter 16 of Romans. Look in verse 25 with me. It says, according to my gospel and to the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery which was kept secret since the world began. I want you to look at that verse as to him, talking about God, Christ, that is of power to establish you.
Each and every one of us, my prayer for you every single day for this church has been since we started this church, that the church would be established. That the church wouldn't be going nowhere. that each and every one of you would be established in your faith. As Anton prayed, strengthen our faith. You remember what Jesus said to Peter? Jesus said, Peter, the devil, Satan, wants to have you and sift you like wheat. He said, but I have prayed for you, that your faith fail not. So here we have, we know that the devil's job is to sift your faith, amen?
And Jesus, isn't it neat to know that Jesus is praying for you? Jesus is, listen, you can ask him all the questions when you get there, but God is a father that doesn't wanna do it for you, he wants you to do it. He's not just gonna go, poof, all your problems are gone. Ready? Poof! You quit smoking. He doesn't work that way. What he does is he gives you his word, and his word makes you free. And now it's up to you to continue in what you've been set free from. Amen? And so he's there, and it says, to him that is of power to establish you. Just because he has the power to do it doesn't mean he does it to everyone. Let's look at some verses, and we'll hurry up and finish. In 1 Thessalonians chapter 3, and then Ephesians.
First Thessalonians chapter three. First Thessalonians chapter three, verse 13. It says, to the end, he may establish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our father at the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.
Now you look at that verse, it says, to the end, he may establish your hearts. Why doesn't God just establish us right away? And there's reasons for that, and the reason is, is because man's heart, man's heart is, the Bible says, the heaven for height, the earth for depth, and the heart of man is unsearchable.
And what it is, is God wants and is working in our hearts for us to obey him. the still small voice of the Holy Spirit, the stirring of your heart, the things that God brings into your life, the words that you read, the things the preacher preaches, all for you to obey him, but he doesn't make you obey him. I kind of wish he did, you know what I mean? Like he makes me obey, he doesn't. Your obedience to God is according to your faith and your love for him. And the truth of the matter is, is the more you love him, the more you'll obey him. The more you believe, the more you obey, and that's up to you.
Each and every one of us, it's up to us how much we read, how much we study, how much we pray. Each and every one of us is no different than anyone else. You have the ability to abound in God's blessings and knowledge and wisdom 100 times more than me. And I know why I'm here, where I'm at in my spiritual walk, because I took it very seriously and studied, man. I studied to learn everything I could learn about it. And then I didn't keep this flapper shut. I went and told everybody about it. And God said, I can use a man like that, amen?
Let's look at the next verse. Look at Ephesians chapter three. I am almost finished. Ephesians 3.17. It says that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith, right? That ye being rooted and grounded in love may be able, I see, we gotta look at these, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and the length and the depth and the height. He says, and to know the love of Christ, which passes knowledge, that you might be filled with all the fullness of God.
You see what he's saying? You're like, one person might have all the fullness of God, but you don't. Why not? Why not me? Because it's totally up to you. How much are you fasting and praying? How much are you witnessing? You know what I mean? It's like, we know the things we're supposed to do, and then we don't do them, and then we're wondering why we're not growing spiritually.
You know, you know you should be in church. Thank you for being here. There's people that only come every Sunday. How much are they going to grow? And I see them and I know them. How many people they win in the Christ? How many people they bring in the church? How much power do they have in their lives? It's according to your faith. And that's why he said that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith, that ye being rooted and grounded in love may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and the height and the depth and to know the love of Christ, which passes knowledge, that you might be filled with all the fullness of God.
And that's, this is what he's talking about, is that the God who's able to do it, will do it. And He will do it, and He is able to do it, if you'll just obey and be serious about your faith. Amen? And let your faith grow. I love what Chris always says, that he finally got off the bleachers. He's not sitting on and watching the game anymore. He's getting in the game, amen? And you never, it's like you gotta get in the game. You gotta get off the bench. Stop being a spectator and start being an applicator. Someone is actually applying it and doing it.
Look at me if you would in Colossians chapter two. Colossians chapter two, verse seven. It says, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith as you have been taught, abounding therein with what? I'm telling you, that's one good way. Just be thankful. Seriously, be thankful. Giving God the thanks. Thank you, Lord. That's the first thing I say, Joe, when I wake up. Thank you, Jesus. First thing out of my words, out of my mouth, thank you, Lord. Thank you, Jesus. I love you, Lord. I love you, Jesus. And I just keep doing that. And it's not because I'm doing it because I have to. It's just I wake up doing it. I wake up doing it.
I'm laying in bed trying. You ever lay in bed and try to sleep and you can't sleep? The brain's going. That's where I fall asleep good now. I fall right asleep. But then I wake up in the middle of the night about maybe ten times and turn this way and turn that way. But I go right back to sleep. But then I wake up like five and it's pitch dark out I don't want to get up at five and I lay there and I'm like okay I gotta you know I got a couple and I can't sleep I just later my brain is thinking about everything in the world the other day I told my wife I was thinking about like lacing boots what like I'm I could see picture boots lace I'm like what am I thinking Okay, stop, stop. And then I'm like, I'm not thinking about nothing. All of a sudden my brain starts going over to here and going over there. And your brain is just on all the time. So because my brain is always going, I'm always thinking about God and I'm always talking to the Lord. And so then I'm like in and out of sleep and I doze off and I wake up and I'm still talking to the Lord. Amen? It's just the way it is.
And I want you to think about this in Colossians chapter two, verse seven. It says rooted, where is it at? Colossians 2 7 says rooted and built up in him and established in the faith as you've been taught and that's what it's all about being taught by God being taught by the Bible being taught by the Spirit of the Living God and just doing what we're taught amen you know what it when Jesus said follow me He was teacher, he was master. They called him master, they called him teacher, they called him rabbi. You know what that means? That means someone that I'm gonna learn from. And we have to, that's our job is to follow him and learn from him. Read your Bibles and actually meditate on it and see what it's saying and let it speak to you and let it start to work in your life and actually do what it says to do. Instead of just being a hearer of the word, be a doer of the word, amen?
And then he established Establishes you and and you nothing no matter what happens in your life. You're not falling away Amen, when the storms of life come, you know, you're rooted and you're grounded. What's it say about it? It says that he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water who bring forth his fruit in his season and his leaves shall Shall not wither and whatsoever. He do shall prosper I want to be rooted and grounded and settled in Christ Jesus in the Word of God so that no matter what happens I'm not going nowhere Too many people aren't rooted and grounded and are not established. And there's a reason for that. So please don't be one of those people.
We're done. Let's look and it's finished. It's chapter 16 and we're done. We finished the whole chapter, the whole book. It says in verse 25 again, to him that is of power to establish you according to my gospel and to the preaching of Jesus, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began, but now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandments of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for what? The obedience of faith. To God only wise be glory through Jesus Christ forever. Amen.
Now I want you to just, we're going to finish this. We're going to start next week. It talks about the mysteries. Next week we're going to get into the seven mysteries of the Bible. The mysteries of the Bible. I love a good mystery. And just that one thing he said, he said, According to the revelation, that means the revealing of the mystery, which was kept secret.
Now, let's look at and we'll finish with this. First Timothy chapter three, verse 16. First Timothy 316 is the greatest mystery in all the universe, and it says in verse 16, are you there? First Timothy 316 says, and without controversy. Great is the mystery of godliness. What is it? God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the spirit, seen of angels, preached under the Gentiles, believed on the world, and received up the glory.
The greatest mystery that ever has been hidden, that God was going to become man. The angels didn't know it, powers and principalities didn't know it, and the devil didn't know it. And I'm going to just quote you this last verse. It's found in 1 Corinthians 2. It says, if the princes of this world would have known, they would have never crucified the Lord Jesus Christ. They thought he was just a man, prophesied man. They thought he was the Messiah, and he was. But they never knew he was God. And that's the mystery of it all. Who is Jesus? And that's the mystery hidden. They never thought that God, the creator, would become a man and be beaten and tortured and die. That is the great mystery, amen.
All right, so we're done. We're done in Romans chapter, the whole chapter we went through, I mean the whole book we went through it. And next week we're just gonna start with the seven mysteries, amen. And I love a good mystery and I hope you do too. And I appreciate it.
