We're looking at lesson number three here in our series, Godly Leadership. We're going to be looking at Titus chapter one here this morning. Any particular prayer requests you have here today? Mark? Okay. Keith? I'd like you to have people pray for our dog trainer. I'm sorry? Our dog trainer. I can't remember his name. He'll never get old. Well, Lord knows who he is. He just found out he has stage 4 liver cancer. He's in the hospital right now. I just prayed for his friends and family. First name is Frank. Yeah, I just received a message that speaks about it. We don't visit with him very often. He wants a couple of months now. Yeah. Okay. He rejected everything he's learned. Oh, okay. He's not one. He might listen now, though. Yes. Pre-paralysis. She's having some medical issues. The last, well yesterday morning she texted me and she's been real lightheaded, dizzy, doesn't know why, hasn't done anything different, eaten anything strange. So she texted me again this morning, she thought after a good night's sleep it might be better, but it's actually a little worse. So she has a friend coming over to bring her to urgent care this morning sometime to see if they can figure out what's going on. The inner ear infection? That'll mess you up. She hasn't noticed anything different with her ear? Roommate's OK? Yeah. OK. I just wonder, because with Warren's deal with the water heater vent was messed up, and all that gas was going into there. I was concerned about that, too. And I asked her that. I said, are my roommates OK? And she's like, yeah, they're perfectly fine. Hmm, okay. Well, all right. What's up? Yeah, Bonnie? My daughter's father-in-law just called. He has stage 3 cancer. You want to run that one by me again? My daughter's father-in-law. Okay. And I don't remember his name. I think he was running it off on me. Any stage? Stage? Stage 3. 3. Yeah, wow. Was somebody else? I didn't want to miss anybody. Okay, all right. Let's pray. Heavenly Father, we thank you for the day you've given us. Thank you for each one here. We pray that you'll guide us as we study this lesson today in Titus. We do pray for these requests. We think of Mark and Allie and their desire to be able to influence Christi in spiritual things and that she might come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Pray for his sister Sue, too, as she's dealing with potential liver failure there and the causes behind that. We pray that you'd help her to be looking to you for the help she needs. For his mom, pray that you'll continue to give her an interest in spiritual things, whether it's reading her Bible, listening to, watching some Christian programming, preaching, and that she might understand the gospel and be saved. We think of Keith's dog trainer, Frank, was stage four liver cancer and in hospice. Pray that you might cause his heart and mind to be open to spiritual truths that they share with him about Christ that he might come to know the Lord before it's too late. Give the doctors wisdom if there's something there that they can be of help to him with as well. We think of Allie and this dizziness, not feeling well, pray that it's You give the doctors wisdom as she goes into urgent care that they can figure out what's going on there with her and be able to deal with whatever the issue is. And she'll be feeling better here soon. For Bonnie's daughter's relative with stage three cancer, we again pray for doctors. that they have insight into what they can do medically. Doctors can only do so much. Ultimately, you are the great physician. For those who are in desperate need of healing, we pray that you might touch their bodies and spare their lives, that they might come to know Christ if they don't already. As Ralph mentioned here, we thank you for the results of the election. as might be just a reprieve, a temporary pause. Not that things aren't still getting bad out there, but we might have more freedom during these next four years to share Christ without being shut down or being called domestic terrorists or something. That we can share Christ, help us take advantage of that. Pray that you might bring about revival in our own hearts and lives, our cities, throughout our nation. People truly might be looking to you for the help and guidance that they need, and many might be saved. We ask that you guide us now in our time here, in Jesus' name, amen. Okay, so we're looking at godly leadership here in Titus chapter 1. We see that what's happening here is that Paul and Titus had went to Crete, an island, and sharing the gospel, and that ultimately Paul moves on, but he leaves Titus there to help solidify these new churches that are getting started, get pastors in place, before he would move on. We see there in Titus chapter one, verse, well, he gives a greeting as your book may have mentioned, you know, if we start a letter, it's, you know, dear Titus. Well, Paul talks a little bit about himself before he gets into talking about Titus and points out the fact that he's a servant of God. a bond slave, if we were to look at that word a little bit closer. He's surrendered his life to the Lord to be used to the Lord. He is an apostle, and therefore God has put his hand upon him. There are some that still think there are apostles out there today. but what would be the one thing that would cause them not to be able to be an apostle? Right, yeah, not too many. They'd be getting real old about now if they'd seen the resurrected Christ. Okay, they can call themselves whatever they want, but that doesn't make them an apostle. And God gave them special abilities, gave them the ability to perform miracles and And so he surrendered to the Lord, and he says there, verse one, he says, Paul, a servant of God, an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and acknowledging of the truth, which is after godliness, in hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before the world began, and hath in due times manifest, or made known his word through the preaching which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Savior. So God had given him that responsibility to preach the gospel, and he's been doing that. He has there in verse two, he says, in the hope of eternal life. Well, you know, usually when we think It's kind of like we wish something. Oh, I hope it's gonna be a nice day today. I hope it doesn't rain on the picnic or whatever, you know. Well, when he's talking about it, we're talking about the hope of eternal life. It isn't I hope, I hope, I hope kind of thing. It's an assurance. As he mentions here, God cannot lie. So God promises us eternal life. He's not going to, you know, withdraw that promise or, you know, water it down saying, well, you know, I know he's not a politician. I know I said that, but well, you know, we have all these other extenuating circumstances. So we really can't follow through with what we said we were going to do. Okay. God doesn't do that. You know, he has the ability to grant us eternal life. He's able to, How much of our sins are forgiven? All of them, past, present, future, okay? Now, that's not a license to sins. That's not to say, well, God forgave all my sins so I can go out and live like a crazy person, no. But he has, well, if he's really changed our heart and minds, we're not gonna want to sin. We still have the capability of doing it, but we don't want to sin, okay? We choose not to. And so God's given us a sure hope. He's given us assurance of salvation, assurance of eternal life. And so now he's in Crete there, or he's writing to Titus there. And he says to Titus, my own son after the common faith, grace, mercy, peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, our Savior. For this cause I left thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee. And so Paul's moving on. He's been there, kind of got things, the ball rolling. Looks like churches are up and in the process of being formed. People have gotten saved. But he's moving on. He's leaving Titus there to kind of finish up the job, okay? And it's not just for Titus to, you know, run a popularity contest, you know, or something like that. Or it's not even the people picking him out, but God leading him to who should be those elders. the leaders in this church. And Paul wanted the churches there in Crete to be godly. And if they were going to be godly, they needed godly leaders. And so he's given Titus this responsibility to complete the churches and kind of get things set up and ready to go. So he talks about a couple uses a couple terms, talks about elders, bishops, later on we'll see pastors and so on. Are we talking about a lot of different people or offices? Maybe I'm not using the word right. Okay, I'll forget that. We're talking about one office. And a person can, one person can hold several different responsibilities. Okay. I'll pick on Tyler. I haven't picked on Tyler for a while. Okay. So who's Tyler? Well, he's a husband. He's a father, you know, he has a job where he has title responsibilities there. You know, he's got a lot of different hats, you know. And same thing here, he's really talking, I know some churches are set up differently than ours, but for the most part, I think Baptist churches understand that bishop, pastor, elder is talking about the same person. We're not talking about several different offices. You know, other churches, well, I don't know, Catholics, maybe, I was going to say Methodists, I'm not sure about them, but some of them have a bishop, you know, and he's kind of over the churches. You know, he's an overseer. That's what bishop means. And that he might choose to move pastors around, you know. And some, I've read about some of this stuff, you know, some of these guys are, only in one church for about three years, and then the bishop moves them to someplace else, and they just always on the move, okay? But, and elders would be somebody that's not necessarily elderly, okay, but more mature at least, and pastors referring to that of being a shepherd, In fact, the word shepherd can also be understood as pastor, and has the idea of feeding, you feed the flock. And we see that Paul talks about feeding the flock as well, and talks about that elsewhere, the same thing. kind of the same person with different responsibilities. An elder, somebody's mature, he's gonna know what he believes, why he believes it. A bishop, he's gonna kind of oversee things, doesn't mean he's a dictator, but he does oversee, has a responsibility of that because ultimately, pastors, we're gonna have to answer the Lord for what happens. And and then as a pastor to feed the sheep and to provide good spiritual food for them. And so this is the kind of individual that Paul wants Titus to appoint over the churches, okay? Well, it doesn't leave it with Titus to kind of figure out, okay, what kind of a job description do we have here? That we need to, he gives him pointers, okay, if you will. Gives them qualifications. And some of them are character qualities. Some of them are behavioral qualities. And nobody, does 100% of all these, okay? But that ought to be our goal, that we want to get better in these different areas than maybe we are. But at least you ought to be able to recognize some of these qualities in a pastor, okay? Someday, don't know when, Lord knows. I'll be out of here one way or the other. I was talking with Lorraine, carrying me out feet first here one of these days or something. But you're going to have to consider a new pastor. Well, what are we going to look at? Unfortunately, sometimes it's, well, I know somebody. My cousin, my uncle, my whatever, He's been a pastor, or he'd like to be a pastor, or whatever. You guys aren't in that position, but I think that's kind of what it was when I went to my first church, is what can we afford? Well, they could only afford some kid coming out of Bible college. But we ought to be looking at some of these different qualities. These are things that God sees as important. These are things, it's not just a suggestion, you know, but these ought to be true of the individual that you're looking at. And he says here, if we go on, verse five says, to ordain elders in every city, as I appointed thee, he says, and then he begins to give some of these qualifications, if he be blameless, okay? Now there's all kinds of, well, we just went through this political thing, all kinds of names and accusations and everything else were made against different people. And so people can say things about you. but it needs to be false. It needs to be not true, okay? That the guy is a thief or whatever, you know? Well, they can accuse you of that, but it doesn't mean it's true. Well, if it is true, though, the idea is here that he doesn't have charges up against him, all right? And he has to have a good reputation that I mean, we're a bigger city, you know, people, well, unless it ends up in the paper somehow, don't know from what one church to another what's necessarily going on. Small town kind of thing, well, something bad happens in a church and everybody in the whole town knows about it pretty quick, you know, it's the grapevine kind of thing. But here he's to be blameless and has a good reputation among the people around him. No real grounded charges against the individual. And, you know, he's a good steward, okay? We have responsibilities, not that I control the budget. This is something that we work on together. as men, and then the church votes on it, if you want something different than that, that's church's prerogative, okay? It isn't something sent down to us from headquarters somewhere. But to be good stewards of what we've been entrusted with, not just finances, but of the property and other things. He says, too, he's blameless, the husband of one wife, okay? And you marry one woman, okay? And it's not just generic here. He's talking about he's looking for men, okay? He's not saying, well, if there's a lady who can have a good Bible study, you know, or something, then she can be a pastor. No. Pastors are men, okay? sexist or anything else, it's just the way God determined that it ought to work. And not to say that the women can't be used in great ways, they can, but not to be a pastor of a church. And unfortunately there's Baptist churches out there that got that too. There used to be one down here, where is it, Oklahoma and National, where it splits. I don't know if that's Southern Baptist, I'm not quite sure what it is down there, Used to be some kind of lady preacher in there, you know? But his husband's one wife, you know? And this pretty much rules out people that are divorced and remarried to be pastors. You know, he's looking at the pastors being an example The only time that you are free to remarry is if your husband or wife dies. But there are pastors out there that, I still remember one couple that we This isn't Albert Lee, but the young couple, I forget, they had like seven kids, and marriage was falling apart, and they'd went to the church, the pastor, where they went, and he'd talk to them, and he tells the wife, he says, You know, this guy, you got to dump him. You know, he's no good. And just get a divorce. And he says, it worked for me. You know, well, I mean, because it worked for him, that's what he was going to recommend to them. And they ended up coming to me. Somebody encouraged him to come talk to me. He says, we don't want a divorce. We want to put our marriage back together again. And they eventually did. I mean, it was through hard work on their part. But we see here that we just keep changing husbands or wives. And you hear about some, we're on our third or fourth by now. But that's not to be the example that the Lord wants to be in the pastor. Faithful children, he says, also there in verse six, having faithful children, not accused of riot or unruly, okay? Pastors to need is to rule his own or lead, if you will, his own house well. I figure if you can't keep your own family together, demonstrating love and direction and everything in your own home, you're not gonna provide much for the church. And unfortunately, some pastors have had to resign, or at least for a while, to get their own family put together before they could effectively be a pastor. And he says there in verse seven, for a bishop, Again, at one point he's talking about elders. Now he's talking about bishops. But again, he's talking about the same individual here. For the bishop must be blameless, the steward of God, not self-willed. OK, self-willed, not selfish, not just simply thinking of himself. And what's good for him? You know, I guess I have to kind of, or I try to think about what's best for the church, because sometimes people have different ideas. Oh, we ought to buy this, or we ought to do that, or whatever. because that's something they want, they're all fired up about. But I think that may not be the best thing for the whole church, okay? And, or it's not just my idea, you know? I don't have a corner on wisdom and programs and other things. I might have some ideas along the way, but it's something we all need to be working on. It's not just, you're here to do what I want to do kind of thing. Not soon angry, he says there in verse seven. He's not self-willed, not soon angry. It's not somebody that's just going to be blowing up every time something doesn't quite go their way. You know, take my toys and go home. He treats other people well. Okay. not with angry outbursts, not given to wine. And the idea there is, let's see, how do they say it here? Not alongside of wine, okay? And we can talk about that for a minute, but I did want to show you a picture. I want to make it big, but as soon as I make it big, it starts the whole program. All I wanted us to see was a picture. So, and if I shut it off, it started the program. But I think it's big enough that you can probably see here the difference of people, okay, well, what it is to your brain? I mean, you can't see this. This is something they're going to look at with an autopsy or something, all right? But your normal brain is on the right. The one on the left doesn't look quite normal, does it? Kind of all shriveled up, looking kind of petrified. Yeah. So for one thing, that's going to mess up your head, mess up your brain. But beyond that, well, let's back up just a little bit. Because it talks about not giving to wine. Scripture talks about wine. Well, is it the same wine that you're going to buy over here on the corner liquor store? The wine back then was different. It wasn't all grape juice. They did have fermented wine. But and I'm not an expert in this but they said it the natural fermentation process Only ferments it up to about 14% Okay, I'm not it's enough But it yeah, but at the same time They usually watered it down. So it's I By the time they watered it down, it was going to take somebody drinking an awful lot of it before it starts messing with your mind, okay? But God wants us in our right mind. And it's not just wine here, but I look at it as drugs or anything else that's having an impact on your mind, you know, that causes you not to be able to think straight. What, you know, it's people that get in auto accidents. How many, and I didn't look that up, but how many accidents are out there today that somehow are attributed to alcohol? You get these people that are driving down the wrong way on the freeway, you know, passing all the do not enter signs and everything else and merrily on their way. Well, how about that guy that was driving the wrong way when Vice President Kamala was, heading for the airport, didn't think nobody's, no traffic out here, what a deal. Well, that's because they shut everything down and they pulled him over. But it's, yeah, there was some alcohol involved here or people that they have a company party and somebody makes a fool out of themselves and gets fired or whatever. It's a mind altering drug. It may be legal, okay? And why do you think it's legal today? Because everybody does it. Okay. Somebody else had something? I don't know about here how it works, but I remember when we lived in Iowa, the state owned all the liquor stores. So they got all the money, all the profit, all the taxes, everything else. Now I'm sure they just get tax off of this stuff. But yeah, I mean, it makes money. There's a lot of money spent. Imagine, well, somebody can look it up. There's somebody's, figured it out, how many billions of dollars is spent between people buying alcohol, bars, and everything else in this world, you know? How many families are messed up as a result of it, okay? And what I think of is, does anybody, okay, I'm exposed to that, because my dad, although it was never formally admitted by him, but he was an alcoholic. And up until later years when he finally quit drinking and got saved. But yeah, it messes up a family. People don't act the same after they start drinking. But does anybody who just takes that first beer or whatever it is think, oh, I'm going to be an alcoholic? You know, nobody knows, you know, oh, I can handle this. How many people think I can handle it, you know, and they can't? You know, and it gets control over them, and after a while they can't or don't want to quit, you know? Mark? I think a lot of times they think it's their answer to problems because it makes them Yeah, it's a painkiller. The problem is usually it causes more pain. When you wake up the next day, your brain's hurting, but you got less money. How many families tend to go without stuff because dad or mom or both are boozing it up, using all the money up for that? I still remember when we went to go to the store. You know, we'd wheel the little cart through the aisle, and four 12-packs of Greenbelt. That was first thing in the cart, you know, and then we'd put groceries in after that. I never went without food because of it, but it was, I mean, that was his life, you know. Yeah. I was talking to the assistant pastor Well, you only steal a little bit, right? Well, here's what it says back in Leviticus, Old Testament, that this was a requirement of priests, you know, and if it's good enough for the priests, then maybe we ought to consider it ourselves. But Leviticus 10, verse 8 through 11, says, The Lord spake unto Aaron, saying, Do not drink wine, nor strong drink, thou or thy sons with thee, when thou goest into the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die. It shall be a statute forever throughout your generations. And that you may put difference between holy and unholy, between clean and unclean. You may teach the children of Israel all the statutes which the Lord has spoken unto them by the hand of Moses." And so he's talking here about strong drink, okay? Wine or strong drink. Be talking about, you know, the fermented kind. God doesn't want our brain, fuzzy brain, all right, you know, and affects us spiritually. You know, it may not show up, you know, instantaneously, but it's, Often people, like I said, they don't think it's anything, oh, well, I'm just gonna have one now and again. And some people are able to do that, but a lot of people aren't. They just start out that way and they end up, it controls their life and affects your judgment, you know? That's why they don't want you drinking and driving, because your judgment's messed up. And if you shouldn't drive, then you probably aren't really qualified to do other things. And so the best thing, you know, and I'm not just picking on the Catholics, but it's probably fairly well known that the Catholic priests often have to go in to get Detoxed or whatever you know because they're it because they're drinking this stuff all the time You know what I figure what I've figured out and at least it makes sense to me what you don't start You don't have to worry about quitting Okay, if you don't start drinking It's never gonna be a problem the same thing whether it's smoking or drugs or anything else if you don't start this stuff you don't have to worry about breaking the habit, okay, and Well, we probably better go on here. We've got a few more requirements here. He's not to be a striker. He's not to be going around punching people. He's not to be guilty of filthy, given to filthy lucre. Filthy lucre is talking about money, not just into it for the money. You know, what's going to bring in the most money? And coming up with schemes to get more money, whether it's through the church or on his own. You know, we need money to live, but God wants pastors to be depending on him, okay? dependence on the Lord for this and trusting the Lord to take care of us. Been my experience, I mean, there were some lean times, but we never went without food. We had food, clothing, and shelter. But you guys have been great as far as caring for our needs, but there are some guys that it's a tough go. It's not because they're just Reaching for the almighty dollar, it's, things get tough at church. And I know of pastors that have went a couple of months without a paycheck. Well, that'd be kind of tough for anybody. But, you know, God, trust in the Lord in this. Lover of hospitality there in verse eight. a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperance. Each one of these, lover of hospitality, we're reaching out to people, you know, trying to help meet needs, whether it's spiritual, physical needs, emotional needs, trying to build up other people. Lover of good men, and said that good men could also be understood as good things. We're looking to with affection towards people, but also good moral things as well. Sober. Now that just doesn't mean not to be a drunkard. But broader than that, to be right-minded, right-thinking, looking at things from God's perspective. I like to think of him as kind of being realistic, you know? And so he's to be just, having a right standard, right thinking, know the difference between right and wrong, holy. Now, are any of us going to be holy this side of heaven? We're gonna reach that yet? No. Well, because we can't reach complete holiness doesn't mean that we ought not be, that ought not to be a goal. Say, oh, well, I'll be holy when I get to heaven. No, we ought to be, there ought to be less sin in our lives as we grow in the Lord and not more. Temperance, again, that's talking about self-control. And Not just, not just in regards to, uh, alcohol or drugs or something else along that way, but, uh, self-control and just day to day life. And then he says, uh, verse nine, holding forth, uh, the faithful word as he has been taught that he might be able to by sound doctrine, both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers, okay? I liked what at least my note said, it said, pastor needs to hold fast to God's word as a shipwrecked sailor would be to his life preserver. You're just hanging on for dear life, okay? And you proclaim that, and hopefully by teaching Biblical truth, sound doctrine, that you're able to convince those who've got some wrong ideas to get their thinking turned around to be thinking straight. And so again, there's some biblical direction here for Titus to pick out elder, pastor, bishops to lead the churches there. And it doesn't it's not up to us to just come up with our own little wish list But it these are God-given directions that he wants us to go by. And he talks in verse 10 on through the remainder of the chapter about the need for godly leaders. There's a lot out there in the world and sometimes even within our churches, we've got people who've professed to be believers but yet still teach false doctrine, false teaching, and they're motivated by different things. You know, through the years, different people have, you know, kind of come to notoriety for one reason or another. I don't hear as much about them, but they're still out there. The prosperity preachers, everything somehow is tied to money, you know, that if you're Obedient to the Lord the Lord's gonna bless you and and And he will God's gonna provide for us, but he doesn't necessarily mean that we're all gonna end up rich, you know Joel Osteen and some of these guys are the ones that are kind of pushing that kind of thinking and You can see how some people if you don't have two nickels to rub together. Well, wow, that sounds good I want to get on board with that one but Again, godly leaders, and we're going to face opposition of one kind or another. You've probably tried to witness to somebody at some point in time, and they don't really want to hear it. And it may have been, not necessarily, The pastor but it can be at times that have just turned them off for whatever reason, you know that Maybe got mad and angry at him or something else and they'd use as an excuse not to listen Well, you don't want to end up in hell because you didn't want to listen because somebody else didn't Present it right, you know, I still have something stuck in my head and this has been years ago and but somebody, it was a visitor that had come. It was a relation to somebody within the church, but somebody kind of had him cornered. He was sitting up right up here in the front pew. Somebody had him cornered, and he was just, giving him both barrels, you know? And I, you know, didn't have the hook, the gong show or whatever, you can just kind of pull somebody off. But that guy's going to have a bad taste in his mouth for a long time. Never came back here. I don't quite know what happened to him spiritually, but it was just like, you know. You got to have your head screwed on right, you know, because you can turn people off so that they don't want to, you got to leave the door open. Okay. They may not agree with you. They may not want to listen, but you got to leave the door open so you can come back and talk to them again. You know, it's not just, well, forget it. If you don't want to listen to me, then, you know, Well then, yeah, the next guy that comes along and may want to present the gospel to them, they don't want to listen to them either. They think, oh boy, here we go again. And so needed godly leaders to minister the word. And he's given him some direction here on how they ought to respond to it. Again, you've got people out there behind pulpits today, not just, and there's probably some behind Baptist churches too, that aren't telling it straight, you know? And I remember in our own church, or when we lived in a little town in Albert Lee, there was, what was there, three or four Baptist churches, I guess. People move into town and they kind of naturally, it was almost like church square, because there was like a square and there was like a church on every corner. And there was a big first Baptist church there, you know? And I've had people ask, well, are all First Baptists the same? No. We're not even connected. But I had a young couple that went there, and they started out there because they didn't know anything about any of them. And they said, the guy never opened the Bible. It was just current events, whatever he was talking about in the news, that's what he would talk about. Yeah, so anyway, they didn't stay there. But all churches are not the same. All Baptist churches aren't the same, you know. Yes? the woman pastor. I don't think they should be pastors, because it's controversial today about that. But is it in the Bible? I don't want to get in trouble about what I say, but is there like a passage where a woman is more easily deceived? It's like the hierarchy in the church, like the father is the head. What is the reason? It's kind of a picture of the family in a sense, because God, nothing against women, okay? This is not beating down women, but God established in the home that the husband was to be the leader of the family. Now, he may not be a good leader, but he's supposed to be. He's supposed to be the spiritual leader in the family. I realize it doesn't always work out that way, but that's the way it's supposed to work. And God created man, he created women to be his help mate, okay, not to lord over him, but to be his helper. And, you know, and so when, God's choosing out men now God did use there were prophetess. Okay lady prophets through scripture but in most cases We see that God's choosing out men the Kings and others ended up being Ones that God chose were were were men and And that's just kind of God's pecking order, if you will. Now, there are scriptures. I don't have them on the top of my head, but I could probably give you some that would show that, you know, that's God's intended place. And that it's not just something we've dreamed up that we're trying to exclude the women out of it. Yeah, Mark? I can't remember the first year, but I do remember that it said a woman was not a preacher at all. Well, yeah, it's that women ought not to be in a position over men or something along that line. And I'll try to look. I should have it on the top of my head, but I haven't been asked that lately. Yeah, well, you can say that, I'm not going to. Yeah, I could say more, but I get into trouble, so I'll just stop. Okay, I'll try to come back with some verses for you here next week, Lord will. All right, you've seen enough of that, right? Okay, sorry about that. You want your brain to end up looking like that. All right, let's close. Heavenly Father, we thank you for your word and its truth. We thank you that when you designed the church, you wanted godly leaders. You didn't just leave it up for chance, but you laid down some specific qualifications that you're looking for in these men that were to lead the church and to be pastors. And we just thank you for that. Pray that you'd help us Each seek to live up to those kinds of standards in our day-to-day lives. We thank you for your help, in Jesus' name, amen.
