In the scriptures from Genesis 12 to Genesis 18 God deals with men by way of His promises to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. These promises along with conscience, the Holy Spirit and human government were to test man to see if he would obey God. Man failed and Israel ended up in slavery for 400 years. Abraham had some wonderful triumphs of faith for which he is mentioned in the New Testament.
