Let's take our Bibles, if you
will, with me and turn to Acts chapter number 15. Thank you, Pastor.
Thank you, men. Amen. I'm going to meet you there in
just a minute, Acts chapter number 15, and we'll probably hit a
verse in chapter 20, and then we'll see what the Lord has for
us. A couple of things I've written down I don't remember where now.
as is up in the choir, so what can CBT do better? I want to illustrate that. Would everyone that was a member
of this church in 1986 stand? Where are the rest? Where are the rest? Thank you. You may be seated.
See how few that is? What can you do better? Be found. Be here. Never move. Follow the truth. Brother Sean Edom's depending
on that. whether Hodnett's depending on that, whether Brian Elam's
depending on that, whether Marshall's depending on that, whether Ted
Alexander's depending on that, and I'm depending on it. The
question was also asked, and I passed, knowing that I had
this time. In actuality, I didn't have an
answer. I had to stop and think and pray So I had to pass, I
didn't have an answer. The question was, what was one
thing that you didn't expect? I believe that was the question
when you got to field. First thing was because I wasn't from America. I was
born and raised on the field. America was different to me.
not the field, and so I'm thinking, I expected everything to be different
wherever I went. I expected everything to be different
because I was different to start with. So as I thought about it
and prayed about it, this one thing came to mind in New Zealand
and then in Arizona. I had a pastor tell me that I'd
never start a church in Arizona, and I told him he was right,
because if God didn't start it, it wasn't going to get started.
And I wasn't trying to be funny or facetious or pretty or whatever
the term may be on that. I was just, that's the truth.
And then when Mojave Baptist Church was planted only by the
grace of God, he called me and he congratulated us in seeing
the work through. And then he says, you remember
I told you, and he was, you know, a somebody and whatever circle. And I said, yes. And he was at
our church at Mojave preaching for me when he told me that.
And he says, I was wrong. I said, yes, you were. He says,
it's bugged me that I was wrong. And I've tried to figure out
why I was wrong. And he said, I figured out why
I was wrong. And I thought, OK, tell me. And
he said, I was wrong because when you went to Bullhead City
to start a church, you went as a foreign missionary and not
as an American. And he was right. I didn't know anything about
Bullhead sit-ins. I just knew God called me. I knew everything
would be different. I knew culture would be different
because I came from Africa. But the one thing as I thought
about that, that we faced a New Zealand that
I just, I didn't see it coming. And then we hit it in Bullhead
and I didn't see it coming. You're going to know this. I
was alone. I was all by myself. I didn't have any family. I didn't
have any friends. Back in those days, I couldn't
call. I couldn't Marco Polo. I was just there. In New Zealand,
we lived in a manse, which is called a parsonage in the States,
to probably one of the biggest churches in the area. And they
needed to rent that to somebody who they couldn't put it out,
publicize it, because of the laws way back then of who they'd
have to rent it to. They didn't want to do that.
And God crossed our paths and allowed us to rent their parsonage. And it was more than I'd ever
afford. They let me pay what I could
afford. But the problem was it was on the backside of the church
property, and every Sunday morning after church, we had nobody. You drove through this religious
church parking lot with all these people in Sunday attire, and
we didn't have anybody. I thought I'd learned, but in
Bullhead City, it's just like we don't have anybody. And that's
the biggest thing I probably didn't expect to face. We're going to go to Acts, but
let me go back to 2 Corinthians. Just review our faith promise
thought, and I want you to think on these things, okay? In 2 Corinthians chapter 8 and
verse number 12, we found our first thought for our week. For
if there be first a willing mind. I want you to think on that. What are you willing to do for
the Lord this year in faith promise? Our second night, I guess that
was yesterday, wasn't it? 2 Corinthians chapter 8, verse
number 5, and we read, this they did not as we hoped, but first
gave their own selves to the Lord. So the second faith promise
thought for the week is first give your own self to the Lord. Don't try to make this faith
promise decision on what you can do. Make this faith promise
decision on what can God. do. And then tonight, here in
2 Corinthians as well, I want to bring out our third
thought of faith promise missions. In 2 Corinthians chapter 9 and
verse number 7, it says this, every man, that means person, If you can, if you can't, don't
participate. But if you can, if you're here
tonight, would you stand? Okay. Now, every one of you can sit
down. Do you understand every man? It's just that simple. The faith
promised thought for tonight is every man. Every one of you
left standing does not have to participate. Right? But every one of you that sat
down, God wants you to participate. It's just that simple. All right. Oh, I forgot my stuff. Okay, I wanted to thank... I wanted to thank you for the
Jeep. I got plates on it. Brother Marshall, I apologize.
I did not see you yesterday. You were in a blue Outback. Okay, Subaru, I mean Toyota Highlander,
it's a long ways away. But anyway, they're made by the
same people if you don't know that. But anyway, Toyota and
Subaru now, anyway, it doesn't matter. The one I passed was
like a Ford Fusion or Focus. So I didn't see you yesterday,
so I didn't wave at you and I'm sorry. Well, maybe I did. Okay, but I wanted to thank, and I'm just going to pick a
couple, okay? But I wanted to thank Mrs. Daniels for my Jeep. I wanted to thank Mrs. Jones
for my Jeep. I'm not getting everybody even in this category.
I want to thank Mrs. Tully for my Jeep. And why am
I thanking them? I'm thanking them because there's
a group of ladies. They don't have a Jeep. I don't
even know if they could afford the Jeep. For those who can't even afford
something like you gave me, thank you. They were part of those every
man that gave, and they gave even though they could never
afford one. I'm sure Brother Salih's had
a part. I haven't checked, found out. I don't know who individually
had a part. I will know what churches have
had a part. And I offered Brother Salih to ride in my Jeep, because
I know how much Brother Salih likes Jeeps. But he can't get his legs up
in my Jeep right now. By the way, thank you for my
Jeep. Even though you can't, we'll find a step stool or something,
we'll get you up in that Jeep. And I do have to buy one for
my wife, too. All right, I also said I don't have prayer cards,
and I do not. But blessed be the ties that
bind. And so what my wife was doing
when they asked for all the missionaries ladies is we waited until church
started and then we've put the Stephen Harris ties out. All
right. So if you're not familiar with that it goes back to my
boys and their ability to earn spending money while we were
on and it goes back to Kent Gottsmeier, actually. And Kent Gottsmeier
came to our church and asked, and I'm not big on selling things
in church, I'm very cautious about that. And he told me what
it was about. I'm an MK, and I understand that,
that means missionary kid. Okay, so I used that term without
anybody understanding what an MK was. He said, what'd you say? You had AV. And I literally thought, Audiovisual, I got it, all right. But Alexander messes me up with
authorized version, so maybe I misunderstood it. Anyway,
so I'm an MK, and so I understood that, and I love to help MKs. And so he came to me, he said,
Pastor Harris, he says, my boys have these ties, and if it's
all right, if they're Bible-themed and patriotic, et cetera, and
would like to be able to do that, I prayed about it. I mean, in
the moment, I prayed about it. And God gave me peace. So I said,
yes. And so then Kent Gossmeier said,
now every pastor that allows my boys to sell the ties in the
church for that specific reason, he says we'd like to give him
a tie. And he gave me a tie. And I don't
know why, but I just kind of automatically took the tie and
I turned it over and it said, Handmaid Stephen Harris. I said,
that is incredible. Does your wife do that for every
pastor? And Brother Gossmeier says, yeah. And I thought, you don't have
a clue what I just asked, do you? And he didn't. And so he goes back and he said,
now, if you don't like that one, we got several. Just pick one
you like. I said, OK. And so then he comes up to me
and says, now, Brother Harris, he says, I went back there and I looked
at all those tithes. They all say Stephen Harris. And so this isn't me. But Stephen
Harris is me. And so then when we started deputation,
I called Brother Gotsmeier, I said, I need to find your source, because
it works. And so now I help my boys, and
my boys are gone. But I present these ties to you
tonight as our prayer card, really. And there are several things. Number one, back then it helped
my boys. Remind you to pray for Stephen
Harris. And then number three, these
are tremendous witnessing tools. You wear one of these ties and
it's very highly unlikely you will not get a comment on your
tie. And they just opened the door
for you to say, you know, I got this from a missionary named
Stephen Harris and he goes down to Mexico and he tells people
about Jesus Christ. Have you ever heard of Jesus
Christ? And so that's what we encourage you to do. They're
out there. If you're interested in them, just ask us. And they
cost money, I'm sorry. But it's just, I asked Pastor,
I said, I've got them. I don't need to put them out.
I don't necessarily want to put them out. I'm just letting you
know we have them. And he said, please do. Now,
Pastor, from the people of Iglesia Baptista de Magdalena, would like to give you a shirt. I hope it fits. If it doesn't
fit, you're coming down. We'll set you up. All right. And hopefully maybe even get
you a Iglesia Baptista de Magdalena shirt. But our people want to
give that to you. Miss Stacy, there's some spots
on the back. Those are Jeep spots. because they weren't on there
when I put it in the... Just marking its territory. All right. Let me meet you in
Acts chapter 15. Again, I would challenge you
tonight to listen quickly, I believe, hopefully. On Sunday night, We looked at the bridegroom is
worthy. And may I reiterate, it's all
about him. Last night we had another missionary
brethren still here. I say that right. He's headed out tomorrow. So
make sure you meet him. You greet him. You encourage
him, young family getting ready to head up to the mosquitoes. We saw that the brethren are
worthy. Tonight, Acts chapter 15, God bless us, your word. and
your thought, may you be honored and glorified for you are worthy
in Jesus' name. Acts 15, 26, talking about Barnabas and Paul,
missionaries as we know, the Bible says, men that have hazarded
their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. In chapter
20, if you'll go there with me, in chapter 20 of Acts, chapter
20, I preached this recently at Lehigh Valley Baptist Church. And I didn't have it on my page,
but the Lord gave it to me while praying on it this evening. To add, The Apostle Paul says
this, we know Paul is that same missionary, he says, but none
of these things move me. He's talking about the persecutions
and we know Paul was stoned to death, shipwrecked. None of these things moved me,
neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might
finish my course with joy in the ministry which I have received
of the Lord Jesus Christ, to testify the gospel of the grace
of God. I preached, and this is essentially
the same thought, different message, but none of these things moved
Paul. I have a question, what did move Paul? What did move Paul? Being stoned
to death didn't move him. The fact that the Holy Ghost
witnesses in every city saying that bonds and afflictions abide
in me, but none of these things moved me. What did move Paul? This evening's message is along
this line, this business, what we're doing, the work of the
ministry, of taking the gospel as missionaries, this business
is worthy. This business is worthy. My dad went to Africa in 1950,
was there for 36 years. In 1986, after 36 years, he went
to Canada and served there for a number of years. And I remember
my dad saying to me, he says, son, there's not enough money
in the world to get me to leave America. And I'm thinking, dad,
we've never even lived in America. And then I realized what he was
saying. None of these things moved me, but something moved
my dad. These men have hazarded their
lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. In Luke chapter
two, verse 49, the Lord Jesus Christ said to Mary and to Joseph,
he said to them, how is it that you sought me? What you not that
I must be about my father's business? This business, Can I use that word business?
God did. You understand what I'm saying? This business is
worthy. Proverbs 27, two says, let another
man praise thee and not thine own mouth, a stranger and not
thine own lips. Why would these men, brother
Alexander? Why would these men, brother
Sean Elam? Why would these men, brother Brian Elam? Why would
these men, brother Hodnet? Why would these men, Brother
Marshall, why would these men, Brother Salih, hazard their lives
and the lives of their families? Why? Brother Christianson. Matthew 6 verse number five says,
and when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are,
for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and the corners
of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say
unto you, they have their reward. In the essence of, let another
man praise thee. Now what moves these men and
why is this business worthy, honor, to whom honor is due. And so I want to highlight tonight
Brother Alexander. I want to highlight tonight,
Brother Marshall. I want to highlight tonight,
Brother Elam. I want to highlight tonight,
Brother Elam. I want to highlight tonight,
Brother Hodnet. I want to highlight tonight,
Brother Christensen. I want to highlight tonight,
Brother Salih. I want to highlight tonight,
Brother Walson. He's with us. And I want to say this business
that we're in, that God has called us to, I want you to know it's
a worthy business. It's a worthy business. God will
have to vindicate and God will have to let you know. And I have no desire to try to
expound and explain, but I did not have to be a missionary. But God called me to, I chose to, and there's no greater calling because
God called me to. And I have shown in my life that
I didn't have to be a missionary. I have made it in the business
world. My little brother is a surgeon.
Said to me, Stephen, you'd be a better surgeon than I was. But this business is worthy. This business is worthy. I'm
not trying to say that you missed your calling. If you were, God
called you to do, brother Doug Wilson, then God bless you for
being there and thank you. And Brother Jordan Wilson, God
bless you for being there, and thank you. And that goes for
every one of you doing what God, where's Brother Ricky Salee?
I see his family, but I don't see him. He's security, I guess. Thank God he is. I got a Jeep
out there I don't want anybody getting into. I just want to remind you, thank
you for my Jeep. I want you to know I'm grateful.
Okay, I'll keep going. Brother Napier, for what you've
done all your life, now retired, thank you for just doing what
God wanted you to do. And I'm not in any way suggesting
in any way that what you're doing is not worthy. That's exactly
what is worthy in your life. But I'm saying this business
that we're about tonight is worthy. This business that we're about
this week is worthy and I need to move on. And so I want to
give you three main thoughts tonight. And there's several
underneath that I'm going to try to run through them. And
then I want to give you a concluding Four thoughts, okay? But first of all, so what moves
Paul and why is this business of taking the gospel? And so
I'm not just saying, thank God for the Marshalls and the Alexanders
and the Elims and the Hodnets and the Salis and the Walsons.
I'm not just saying, thank God for them. I'm saying, thank God
for a church who understands that this business is worthy.
And I want us to look at why this business is worthy. And
so number one, this business is worthy because we have the
example of the Godhead. God thought it was important
enough to be involved in. And if God thinks it's important
enough to be involved in, I think we ought to think it's important
enough to be involved in. And we find the example of the
Godhead. Number one, we find the compassion
of the sovereign. The Bible said, for God so loved
the world that he gave his only begotten son. And you can't even
understand that. that whosoever believeth in him
should not perish, but have everlasting life. God gave his only begotten
Son, why? Because he thought this business
was worthy to be involved in. And so we have the example of
the Godhead, the compassion of the sovereign. Number two, we
have the example of the Godhead in the commitment and constraint
of the Savior. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians
5.14, for the love of Christ constraineth us, because we thus
judge that if one died, he chose For all, then all were dead.
And so we have the commitment or the constraint of the Savior.
And that just tells me whatever job, whatever business he was
in, which did not that I must be about my father's business
and that father's business led him to the cross of Calvary and
he died on the cross of Calvary. And that's a pretty serious business.
And I ought to be involved in whatever business that is. And
that's what this is. because we have the example of
the Godhead, we have the compassion of the Sovereign, we have the
commitment, the constraint of the Savior, and then we have
the conviction of the Spirit. The Bible says in Revelation
22, 17, and the Spirit and the bride say, come. And him that heareth say, come.
And him that thirst, come. And whosoever will, let him take
of the water of life freely. You know who wrote that? The
Holy Spirit of God did. All scripture is given by inspiration
of God, by the Holy Spirit of God. It is verbally inspired,
it is God-breathed, and the Holy Spirit of God, in a conviction
that we have known as the Word of God, says this is a worthy
business. Get in it! God gave his son,
the son gave his life, and the spirit gave us the scriptures.
And in that scriptures, we find in Matthew 28, 18, 19, and 20,
that the Holy Spirit of God said, go ye into all the world and
preach the gospel. We find he is the author of the
precept, go. The Bible says in 2 Peter 1,
21, for the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man,
but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost,
and that Holy Ghost, in Matthew 28, said, go. We have the example
of the Godhead and the conviction of the Spirit. He is the author
of the precept, go. Pastor Burke's not the author
of the precept. Brother Harris is not the author of the precept.
None of these men are author of the precept. The church is
not the author of the precept. The Holy Spirit of God is the
author of the precept, and the precept says go. Why is this
business so worthy? Because the example that God
had, the conviction of the spirit, he's the author of the precept,
and then number two, he's the advisor of the path given. The
Bible says in Acts 13, verse number four, so they, talking
about Paul and Barnabas, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost
departed. And they went here and they went there, and the
Holy Spirit is the advisor of the path given. Brother Hodnet,
if you're in Scotland, why? Because God said go. And the Holy Spirit says, this
is the way. Brother Elam went to Russia and now is in Mason
and brother Sean Elam is trying to follow the Lord's leading.
And he shared with me some clarity and prayer requests and thank
you of how he's more clear now than ever on his Canadian way
of going up there and every one of us. I think you know this, but I'm
the oddest duck to ever land in Mexico. Mrs. Christian's son loves Mexico.
She always talks about Mexico. I'm in Mexico because God sent
me. I never dreamed I was going to
Mexico. And when I went to Mexico, I never dreamed I was staying.
And I still dream that I'm not staying. And I've been there
for 20 years. And you tell me, you know, all
these people I meet talk about being veteran in this and veteran
in that. And I'm thinking, wait a minute, you know, you weren't
even born when I went to Mexico. But the Holy Spirit said, go. He's the author of the precept
go, he's the advisor of the path given. And then Psalm 119 verse
165 says, great peace have they which love thy law and nothing
shall offend them. We have the example of the Godhead,
the conviction of the spirit, and he is the assurance of the
peace granted. You know why I'm still there?
Because great peace have they which love thy law. And so I'm still there. You know
how many times I wish my pastor would tell me to leave. And he said, Brother Harris, you
do whatever you think the Lord wants you to do. And I said, I was
hoping the Lord would tell you what you want me to do and I
can get out of here. And I just say, Lord, it was my pastor.
I've got to take it up with him. And if you don't believe me,
I'm so local church, I'd do it. Because I have a man in authority
over me. And he says, come and I come.
And he says, go and I go. And I'm serious. He can take
it up with God. This business is worthy. Honor to whom honor is due. And
I'm telling you, this is an honorable business we're in. Not we're,
we. This is an honorable business
we got ourselves into. There's none like it. Because
of the example of the Godhead, number two. I'll tell you why
it's an honorable business. It's an honorable business because
of the endeavors of the godly. Men that have hazarded their
life for the gospel. Let me give you two points under
this. 2 Corinthians 8, verse number one, Bible says, and this
is where we're taking our faith promised thoughts from, but the
Bible says, moreover, brethren, we do you the will of the grace
of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia. Most of us can
probably pretty much quote it from there on, how that great,
et cetera. We do you the will of the grace
of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia. The endeavors of
the godly, the contribution of sanctified saints makes this
a honorable business. And that's why I say, Mrs. Jones,
thank you. And Mrs. Twilley, thank you. And Mrs.
Daniels, thank you that I can drive a Jeep when you don't. My dad would say, I can't take
that because I have people that support me that don't have that.
And how in the world can I have something that my people can't
have? That sacrifice to put me on a place. And I feel that. And I thank you for my Jeep.
But it's more than that. Because it's an honorable business
that we're in, and the contribution, the endeavors of the godly, the
contribution of sanctified saints that have sold their lives out
to God to say, God, we believe this is worthy of doing for your
honor and glory, and we will sacrifice to do this, and we
will give to do this, and we will do without to do this, because
we believe it's an honorable business. Whiskey not that I
must be about my father's business. We find the endeavors of the
godly in the contribution of sanctified saints, and then we
find the endeavors of the godly in the compulsion of separated
servants. Again, men that have hazarded
their lives for the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. And Paul said,
none of these things move me. And we look at Paul's life and
we say, man, Paul, something moved that guy. He was a motivated
man. He was a moved man. He said that
the Holy Spirit of God said only save, you know, nothing awaits
me save the Holy Spirit witness in every city that bonds and
afflictions abide me. And none of these things move
me. And we think, whoa, Paul. That's called dedication. What
moved him? Because he thought it was an honorable business to put his head on a chopping
block. Because God so loved the world,
He gave. The Son so loved the world that He gave. And the Holy Spirit of God said,
go. So we find the endeavors of the
godly compel me to understand that this business is honorable,
and honor to whom honor is due. But seek ye first the kingdom
of God and his righteousness. Remember that when you decide
on a car payment. And thank you for my Jeep. I mean that. I'll tell you why. I wouldn't have spent the money
on it. And so I'm so glad that God moved
you to give you something that I wouldn't have got myself. Seek ye first the Kingdom of
God and His righteousness when you make that other commitment.
And say Jesus first. And can I be living proof with
my yellow Jeep? Did I say I'm thankful? All these things shall be added
unto you. It took 20 years, but it seemed like yesterday. The compulsion of separated servants, men that have hazarded their
life, says to me, This is an honorable business. Number three, this is the last
point. A couple thoughts with it, but it's the last point and
then we're going to get our conclusion. So we saw the example of the
Godhead says this is an honorable business. Number two, the endeavors
of the godly says this is an honorable business. Number three,
Brother Jim, you do what you need to do, okay? You're good. Thank you for being here. That's
Lucy, by the way. Isn't she cute? Number three. None of these things
moved me, but what did? And this is an honorable business,
and why? Number three is because the end
of the godless. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians
5 verse 10 and 11, For we must all appear before the judgment
seat of Christ, that every one of us may receive the things
done in his body according to that which he hath done, whether
it be good or bad, knowing therefore the terror of the Lord. We persuade
men. The Bible says in Hebrews chapter
9 verse 27, The Bible says it is appointed unto men once to
die, and after this the judgment. That doesn't scare me, but it scares me for others. Because the die without God is
the die without hope for all eternity. The end of the godless
and what we're trying to do, true missions, true biblical
missions is taking the gospel of Christ to the regions beyond.
Whether that's your next door neighbor or that's across the
street or across the sea, it's taking the gospel. Let's be very
careful as a church and I'll preach this and I'm not going
to labor it. Do not get wrapped up in the social aspect of it.
The poor you have with you always. But the lost die and go to hell.
So we find the end of the godless. We find the current condition
of the sinner. The position, his position before
God is damned. His penalty before God is death. Then we find the catastrophic
condemnation of the sinner. We find the current condition.
He's damned already. And he's dead. But the catastrophic
condemnation of the sinner is the poignant present reality.
He that believeth on him is not condemned, but he that believeth
not is condemned already because he hath not believed in the name
of the only begotten Son of God." John 3 18. I don't know where
this idea comes that I'm going to get before God and then we're
going to find out. No, it's already found out. It's already found out. It is
a poignant present reality and it is a possible permanent relegation. Sunday before last, Brother Hodna
preached on Luke 16. And I get on the YouTube and
Brother Hodna preached on Luke 16. Revelation 20, verse 12-15, I
saw the dead, small and great, stand before the throne of God,
before God. The books were opened, another
book was opened, which is the book of life, and the dead were
judged out of those things which were written in the books according
to their works. Now, this isn't the message,
but if you're not saved by works, why are they judged according
to their works? And it's very simple, because they're trusting
in their works. And God says there's no works
that'll save you, so I'll just judge you by your works. Let's
see if you're saved or not. And they're not. The sea gave
up the dead which were in it, and death and hell delivered
up the dead which were in them, and they were judged every man according
to their works. It's repeated. And death and hell were cast
in the lake of fire, and the second death, this is the second
death, and whosoever was not found written in the book of
life was cast in the lake of fire forever and ever, the Bible
says. All right. This business is worthy. What we're doing this week is
so very important. Honor to whom honor is due, what
these men are involved in, but it's past that. It's what you
are involved in is worthy. It is worthy. It is worthy. He is worthy. But this business
is worthy. The bridegroom is worthy. These
brethren are worthy. But this business is worthy.
It ought to be top on our list of worthiness things that we're
doing. Whatever it is that you think
is worthy of doing in life, I'm telling you, it's not as worthy
as what this is. Why? Because we have the example
of the Godhead. Why? Because we have the endeavors
of the godly. Why? Because we have the end of the
godless. And I want to conclude with this. Ultimately, ultimately
we cannot base our motivation upon these four things. We cannot
base our motivation upon a sensual compassion. but upon the Savior's compassion. That sensual compassion is that
slide presentation or that whatever it may be to try to get your
senses involved. And too many people and too many
times faith promise has been given by getting your senses
involved. The senses are there and God
uses your senses, but that cannot be the basis of getting involved
in this business. It has to be the savior's compassion. And when he saw the multitude,
he had compassion upon them. Number two, it cannot be based,
our motivation cannot be based upon a salesman compulsion, but upon a scriptural compulsion.
I am a terrible salesman. I don't want to be a salesman.
I don't attempt to be a salesman. I like to present the truth. But boy, I have met some salesmen.
You know, the guy that can sell you ice cubes up there where
the Wassons are going? And you just, you believe it. The man that can sell you, you
know, whatever, and it's like, and I've seen a lot of them,
they're called missionaries. And too many church members and
too many churches have fallen for their salesmanship, but have
never sought, is there a scriptural compulsion on why we need to
be part of this God. I believe you ought to be presentable,
and I believe you ought to present what is pertinent. I have no
problem with all of that, but make sure it's not a salesman's
compulsion. Your motivation this week, I'm
trying to tell you as a church, do not be motivated in your faith
promise by some salesman, some sales pitch, but be led by the
Spirit. Number three, a motivation cannot
be based upon a shown condition. If I wanted to make money, I'd
go back to my country in Africa, and I'd show you pictures of
real pictures, too, not those fake ones with that little kid
with the vulture next to it. That's a fake picture. Did you
know that? So many people are so compiled by what's not even
true. The world knows that's a fake
picture. It was a setup. But I could take real pictures
of real things and real problems in my country of Africa, and
I could come back, and I could go all across the United States,
and I saw missionary after missionary after missionary, my life tenure
in Africa that did that very thing and raised money and raised
projects and raised buildings and raised trucks and raised...
I don't remember any Jeeps, but... And they would show these awful
conditions And your heart just pours out
and you think, how can that be? Come down to Mexico and I can
show you carton shacks and I can show you bad living conditions.
I won't unless you tell me I want to see one of those. Because
that's not the problem. What the problem is, is a soul's
condition. It cannot be motivation, cannot
be based upon a shown condition, but upon a soul's condition.
Number four, this is the last one. Our commitment and our motivation
in this very worthy business cannot be based upon a sociological
concern, but it must be based upon a spiritual
and salvation concern. I'm not in Mexico to Make a difference with the mafia
issue. I'm just there to see people
saved. Now I happen to know that people get truly saved, get out
of the mafia. I can show you some in our church. And I feel for them. I really do. Because I live with
them. But every day, they pass me by. And I can see it in their eyes. Lonely people filled with fear. Headed who? I know where. People need. Not Stephen Harris. People need. Not a better building. People need. Not more support. The Lord. People need. The Lord. How does it go? How can, when will we realize that people
need the Lord? I have no need. God's been very, very good to
me. But many pastors, many churches
say, what do you need? Brother Harris said, I don't
need anything. Well, what can we buy you? Ask God. Everything wears out. I don't need anything. And this
church knows, this pastor knows, Mrs. Salee knows. But many, many years I should
have come home, tried to raise some support, but I couldn't because people need the Lord. And I'm saying, missionaries,
just go. Just trust God. Just go. I'm
not saying that. I'm saying follow God. You find
out what God wants you to do. And then you do it. And then
God will bless. Thank you for your patience. Honor to whom honor is due. And
I just want to let you know, this business, oh, It's the best. It's the most honorable business
a Christian can be involved in.
