I want each and every one of
you to just think for a little bit of all the things that God
did for Israel to bring them out of Egypt. You know, the many
plagues. They didn't raise a hand to do
anything in their own deliverance. God did it. because of them being obedient
unto God, God spared the firstborn and all of their families. And
you know, so many of them plagues was on Egypt, but it wasn't on
the place where they were at. And you know, for them to see
all of that, you'd think, boy, those people would have a lot
of faith to trust God. Well, I'm just gonna skip through
a few things here in reading. But if you'd like to read with
us in Exodus, the 14th chapter, and this is where they come to
the Red Sea, and already forgot all that God had done, how he
had been leading them. And if you'll go to the 21st
verse of that 14th chapter, and Moses stretched out his hand
over the sea, And the Lord caused the sea to go back by a strong
east wind all that night and made the sea dry land. And the
waters were divided. And the children of Israel went
into the midst of the sea upon dry ground. And the waters were
a wall unto them on their right hand and on their left. Now,
you think of that, you'd say, well, you know, anybody that
had been there and experienced that and seen that, how great
a faith that they have in the God that was able to do that.
But I want you to pay attention to this scripture we're gonna
read to you in the 15th chapter, and we're gonna start with the
22nd verse. So as Moses brought, Israel from
the Red Sea and they went out into the wilderness of Sir and
they went three days in the wilderness and found no water. Just three
days from God parted the sea for them, and there was out water. And when they came to Moriah,
I think that's how you say that, they could not drink of the waters
of Moriah, for they were bitter. Therefore, the name of it was
called Moriah. And the people murmured against
Moses, saying, what shall we drink? and he cried unto the
Lord, and the Lord showed him a tree, which when he had cast
it into the water, the waters was made sweet. There he made
for them a statute and a ordinance, and there he proved them. Now,
this is just three days from imparting the sea form. Then
if you'll go down into the 16th chapter and start into the first
verse, and they took the journey and all the congregation of the
children of Israel came unto the wilderness of Sin, which
is between Eden and Sinai on the 15th day of the second month
after their depart out of the land of Egypt. that short a time,
just two months. And the whole congregation of
the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron in the
wilderness. And the children of Israel said
unto them, would to God we had died by the hand of the Lord
in the land of Egypt when we sat by the flesh pots and when
we did eat bread to the full, for ye have brought us forth
into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger. Now, you know, if you go on down
and read that, you'll find that God fed them with manna and quail
to the full. They had all that they wanted.
But have you ever thought of were they really to the place
where they would have been that hungry? If you'll go down into
the 17th chapter, and we're gonna start reading at the third verse.
And the people thirsted for water. And the people murmured against
Moses and said, wherefore is this that thou has brought us
up out of Egypt to kill us? and our children and our cattle
with thirst. So they had cattle, they could
have ate if they'd have been willing and God could have multiplied
that to them. And Moses cried unto the Lord
saying, what shall I do unto this people? They be almost ready
to stone me. The Lord said unto Moses, Go
on before the people and take with thee all the elders of Israel
and thy rod, wherewith thou smote the river. Take it in thy hand
and go. Behold, I will stand before thee
upon the rock in Hebron, and thou shalt smite the rock, and
thou shalt come out water, and thou shalt come water out of
it. And the people made drink, and Moses did so in the sight
of the elders of Israel. Now here in just a little time,
I mean it takes a whole year basically for them when they
come out of Egypt. to get to the promised land and
then they refused to go in. But there was a year there in
the wilderness mostly that God was teaching them what he was
requiring of them. But so little faith. They didn't seem to believe God
or trust God. for anything till he would do
it and then the next time a problem rose. They had no faith to even
ask of God. They had no faith to believe
that he was going to do anything. Just like Moses was saying here,
they're ready to stone me. And they were holding him responsible. You and I today. So I was reading
this. I was thinking, we look around
today and it's the same way. People, what in God do you want
to do for me today? They forget what He's already
done. And if God didn't do another
thing for us, and He's forgiven us of our sin, and given us a
new heart, a new love, there are times when nothing ought
to do it for the rest of our lives. But God continually blesses
us and gives us new life. that we need here in this life.
And yet we find people today are about the same as the children
of Israel. When a new problem rises, seem
like they never think, well, I can pray and talk to God, and
He's got the answer. And no matter what it is we're
facing, God's the one that's got the answer. We can look back,
all of these were given for examples for me and you to see of what
a wonderful God we serve. And He's not changed. He's the
same yesterday, today, and forever. He's still able to do miracles,
and I've seen God. Darryl mentioned about the potatoes
today. They've been so many times that
God has heard and answered prayers and supplied for my family. Sometimes it just marvels in
my eyes to see what God has done. But you and I today, if we're
obedient unto God, he promises he'll supply our need. But I'm afraid too many times,
We're not obedient to God, and yet we expect him to take care
of us. And you know, a lot of times,
God allows things to come our way to get our attention and
maybe help us to find a place to get down serious on our knees
praying and talking to God. You know, you and I, our life
is so short. And if you went on and read,
you'll find there's many more times here For the people, they
murmur against God time and time and time again. That's something,
man, you need to make sure we're never guilty of. Don't go blaming
God when things aren't going right. Here, they knew Aaron
and Moses stood between them and God. They had seen the cloud. They heard the voice. God was
real. He had proved himself. And so
much he had done for them. I've read this so many times,
but when I was reading it this time, that cattle stood out to
me. Why was they complaining, saying,
we're going to die of hunger, when they had cattle? They probably
had sheep. They had all of that. And yet
they were complaining, God, why aren't you giving me something?
You and I today, has God ever supplied our needs and then we
grumbled because we didn't have something we wanted? We wanted,
not that we needed, but we wanted. You and I today. If we look around,
we'll see we've been blessed already above measure. The children
of Israel, no matter what they were facing, they would have
been able to lift their head and praise God every day. And they get to the promised
land, and they go in, and they see what is there. They marvel
at it. Took two men to carry one pot
of grapes. The land was exactly what God
said it was. The land flowed with milk and
honey. Everything supplied. They had
already had houses built, lands there, farms, everything. You
move in and take over. And they doubted the God that
did that. Brought them out of Egypt without
them lifting a hand. And they've been afraid to go
in. Why? Because they weren't being faithful
to God. And they weren't trusting God
in what God was saying. And it cost them. Everyone that
was, I guess you'd say, the age of accountability died without
going in to see the promised land except Joshua and Caleb. Two that give a good report.
You and I today. What is it going to cost us for
our doubt and our lack of faith? You know, y'all have heard of
the miracles that God's done for me, and maybe you might need
one. And the devil will tell you,
yeah, but you ain't her, or you ain't this, or you ain't that.
Honey, if you're a child of God, he loves you just as much, and
he's just as ready to hear and answer your prayer. Each and
every one of us, God has no respect of person. And if we come before
him with a humble heart, he's hearing, and he will answer.
And you and I today, When it comes to the time we have to
have an answer, you'll find out it'll be there. God don't leave
us without an answer when we desperately need one. Each and
every one of us, we need to put our faith and trust in God as
never before. Read, you know, a lot of people,
they want to just discard the Old Testament, but there's so
much in there that we can read that should encourage us as it
should have encouraged them. You know, I cannot understand
how Israel went through all that they went through and still had
no faith when God proved his self time and time and time and
time again. You and I, how many times did
God have to prove his self to you before you're gonna believe?
Just like I've said many times, and there's a song out about
that. God's answered enough of my prayers to keep me praying
on. When the devil says you might
as well doubt, no, I look back at the ones that God has answered
and keep praying on. Because you might quit the day
that your prayer was going to be answered. Look back here at
Daniel. 21 days he prayed before he got
an answer. You and I today, we may pray
a lot longer than that before we get an answer. That's no reason
to quit because our God is still able to hear and to answer. Each
and every one of us, please, I beg you, read these scriptures
and stop and really think on them. And see if that question
don't come to your mind, well, why do they doubt? What's wrong
with them? Why couldn't they believe? Why
couldn't they trust God that he would take care of that? You
know, if God could part a Red Sea and them all walk through,
him hold that water back long enough for 600, well, he's really
over a million now. I think he had 600,000 that was
of age they could have went to war. But they ain't no tellin'. It's probably a million and a
half people and their animals and all of that. How long a time
would that take to march through the Red Sea? God was holding
that water back a long time for them. And then they'll come to
some water that was there, but because it didn't taste good,
they complained with God. What is it that God could make
that into good water, what he could hold back a sea? You and
I today, our problems may look real big, but they're small to
God. So tiny. It's insignificant,
but because he cares for me and for you, he can supply and take
care of that. You and I, as we get some song
to sing, you and I, please, I beg you, don't let the devil make
you doubt because some problem has rose in your life and you
don't know the answer. Then pray and turn it over to
God and then be patient to wait upon him. God will answer. You'll find
in the Bible men that prayed prayers and God answered immediately. You'll find men in the Bible
where the prophet, he asked God to show his man who was on their
side, the army of the Lord that was around them. Did not say
he seen it, but he asked God to show it to this one that don't
believe, don't have faith enough to know. It's all taken care
of. Victory's in our hands. You and
I today, me and you, we might not be able to see, but my God
sees it all. And there is nothing that he
can't do Nothing that he can't solve. And our problems are very
minor to him. You know, you think what kind
of knowledge and power it took to create this universe we live
in, the sun, this earth, and the moon. You know, that was
all there was to it. That would be a marvelous thing,
but there's a whole bunch of other planets in it. And we really
don't understand what their purpose is or how they're affecting,
but we know that the moon affects our tides. So, you know, there's
all kinds of things. God's got in control that we
ain't smart enough to know. But our problems are very small
compared to God. And he solves problems far greater
than anything we could imagine every day. While we sing, will
you, Carl? Don't doubt God, but put your
faith and trust in one that will never leave you and never fail
you. If you'll just believe. While
we sing, it's one verse. Till all shall see Christ's dawn.
No Faith
People want to know what God's going to do for them today instead of remembering what He's already done. God doesn't need to one more thing for us after forgiving us of our sins. He continues to give us the blessings in our life. No matter what we are facing God has the answer. If we are obedient to God, He will take care of us.
