You can head on out. Raffi, sorry,
he's a little too old, okay? All right, I was gonna see everybody
this morning, and we are blessed to have the Apple family with
us, and really thankful for their sweet spirit. They've been a
blessing to us this week. We've fellowshiped with them,
gotten to know them better, and as I mentioned, I think in the
Sunday Squad, we had just met last time we were at their church,
where the Apple was the assistant pastor, But then God had him step into
the head pastorate there and we went out after that, the service
that we had, and had a meal at a great place. But we've gotten to know them
really well this week, but I feel like I've known them much longer
than we have and just appreciate their sweet spirit. And so we've
gotten involved in ministries past week. With their help, the
kitchen was deconstructed and did some different evangelism
things, also showed them around some of the sites and His wife and son abandoned him
on Monday. They left him in Ireland and
came over here due to a misplaced passport, which he did find and
was able to get a later flight to come over. To mention it, I didn't hear
a complaint about it. I haven't heard a complaint about
it. and he's the kind of man that
we got here that loves the lord and look forward to what he's
got to share this morning with us. Alright, brother. Yeah. And
that water back there is yours. You're welcome to move up here
if you want. Good morning. Good morning. Our
pleasure to be here. We have thoroughly enjoyed our
time in Scotland and getting to know that your Thank you for your hospitality.
We've enjoyed staying here. Everything about the Lord has
blessed us with some wonderful weather. Monday and Tuesday,
it was kind of rainy, but we weren't traveling those days,
so that was okay. The rest of the week, we've been
outside, and that's been wonderful. Brother Pastor Schor sent me
an email Sunday afternoon last week, letting me know that we
were gonna be deconstructing the kitchen. and I let them know
a hammer is best in my hand when deconstructing, not when putting
something together. And so I enjoy that, being able
to swing a hammer and tear things up and not have to worry about
how close I'm done. That's been wonderful. It has
been good to be here. Our church family back in Wisconsin
has been praying with your church for quite some time. And we've
been excited to hear and to see what God is doing and providing
and building for you guys and uh you've done a wonderful job
uh turning this by uh building from a place of darkness to a
place of light. a lighthouse of the gospel of
Jesus Christ and a beautiful building that you have here and
I hope and I trust that you will get involved. If you've got some
opportunities coming up here in the next few weeks to get
involved in the ministry and to be a part of what God is doing
here and so I wanna encourage you to to get involved in those
things. day to celebrate and to rejoice
and to give thanks to god for his provisions, for his abundance
in our lives and uh you know, a farmer will uh in the springtime,
he'll go, he'll plow the field, he'll fertilize it and he'll
uh sow the seed and all in hopes of preparing the soil so that
there can be Sometimes a harvest isn't all
that good. Sometimes it's a poor harvest. And that is one of the uncertainties
of life. And in life, there are many uncertain
things. And we're gonna take a moment
this morning and look at a contrast between some of the things in
life that are uncertain, but yet some of the things in life
that are absolutely certain. So, let's open up the word of
prayer. Father, you're so good to us and we're so thankful of
that. Lord, I am thankful this morning
that when we live in a world of uncertainties, you are absolute. You are always certain and I'm thankful for the song that
we've sung. I'm thankful for this Sunday
school hour and the instruction that we receive in the book of
Acts. Lord, if we look at how the church there with the church
that prayed together, came together, a church that was united, a church
that cared for one another, and cared for the things of god.
Lord, how you would be just like that church
in Jerusalem. That the power of God would rest
upon, not just the pastor, but upon the individuals that make
up this church. And Lord, that you would use
the people of this church to turn Edinburgh, Scotland upside
down for Christ. Lord, I pray that you would continue
to bless them and use them for your honor and for your glory.
Father, as we take some time to look at the Word of God this
morning, we ask that the Holy Spirit would be the divine preacher
and you would be the one that would speak to each of our hearts
this morning. And we'll thank you for what
you'll do. We ask this all in the most wonderful way. We're going to begin by looking
at five uncertain things. I had four, but as I was reviewing
my notes this morning, a fifth one came to mind. And we're going
to kind of move through these five quickly, and we're going
to spend a little more time on four things that are certain.
So looking at five things that are uncertain, number one is
wealth, finances, money. We talked about that. Pastor
Shore talked about that during the Sunday school hour. and how
we can invest our finances into worldly things and temporary
things and in the end, it really has no value. Or we can invest
in a spiritual thing, in the heavenly thing, in the things
that depend on the kingdom of God. And those have an eternal
reward and eternal value. But, well, our finances are now
If you're taking notes this morning, I'm just going to rattle off
several verse references and I'll read the verses to go with
them. We'll turn to some passages together. But in Proverbs chapter
11, verse number 28, Solomon writes, he that trusted in his
riches shall fall, but the righteous shall flourish as they branch.
And so, the individual who places their trust in their riches,
that person is often said will fall. I think back in the early
2000s, around 2007, 2008, you have the financial crisis. You have everybody across the
world that was involved in finance become familiar with a man named
Bernie Madoff. And Bernie Manilow was running
a Ponzi scheme and taking people to retirement money. And I guess
they had $65 billion was lost in just a matter of a short period
of time. I don't think anybody here is
old enough to live during what we would have called the Great
Depression. But people lost their money back then. And people continue
to lose their money today, so well. Solomon again says, Labor not
to be rich, seize from thine own wisdom. Will thou set thine
eyes upon that which is not? For riches certainly make themselves
wings, they fly away as an eagle toward heaven. Riches, money,
makes themselves wings, they fly away as an eagle toward heaven.
Have you ever had that problem? Where you thought you had some
money left over and you went to check and it was all gone?
And it just flowed away. And the wind had come off and
blown it and the money was all gone. There was a hole in your
pocket somewhere and all that money just disappeared. Well,
that's when money died. Wealth is not certain. several
of the professional athletes who make millions upon millions
of dollars. And shamefully, later in life,
they have to declare bankruptcy. They've had millions of dollars,
and all of a sudden they have nothing. And that's a shame,
but that's what happens, because, well, money is not certain. Number one, finances or wealth
is not certain. Number two, So, we wish that people wouldn't
change. We wish that people would stay
the same and that the relationships we have will always be there. When you're a young child, you
think that mom and dad or grandma and grandpa are always going
to be there. But unfortunately, relationships
are not certain. In I'm sorry. Psalm twenty-seven
verse ten. When my father and my mother
forsake me, then the lord will take me up. When my own parents forsake me. And unfortunately, we live in
a day and age in a world today where parents forsake their children. Parents walk away from their gave my own familiar friend,
in whom I trusted, which did even of my bread hath lifted
up his heel against me." Now, better than that's the end of
the psalm referring to the Jews as carrying the betrayal of Jesus
Christ, but David is writing a psalm this person that he sat down
with and then he had a meal with a fellowship with this individual
has turned against him and uh and had and hurt him and and
brought him into danger. Sometimes our closest friends
become though that hurt us in the book of Job in the nineteenth Joe says he had to put my brethren
far from me and my acquaintances are barely estranged from me.
My kinsfolk have failed and my familiar friends have forgotten
me. They that dwell in my house and my maids count me for a stranger. I am an alien in their sight.
I called my servant and he gave me no answer. Story after story
of families that have split. no longer care for each other.
Stories of those who used to be close friends and now they
don't even talk to each other. Sometimes they even become enemies.
Relationships do not always last. Relationships are not certain. Some people struggle to have
any type of relationship because they've been hurt. And they don't
want to open themselves up to being hurt anymore because they
know that relationships are not always certain. So wealth is
not certain. Relationships are not certain.
Number three, tomorrow is not certain. Tomorrow is not promised. In Proverbs 27 verse 1, boast
not thyself of tomorrow, for thou knowest not what a day may
bring forth. Now, it is good, it is proper,
it is wise to make plans, but we understand that tomorrow may
not go the way we planned. to get up early in the morning
and ask the shore to pick us up and I'm going to make sure
that my passport is with me and I know exactly where it is and
that we're going to fly back to Dublin tomorrow. We're going
to spend the day in Dublin and on Tuesday morning we're going
to get up and we're going to go back to the airport and we're
going to fly back to the United States of America. And I'm going
to get home. and I'm going to sleep in my
own bed for the first time in two weeks and I'm going to study
on Wednesday and I'm going to preach in my home church on Wednesday
evening. Those are the plans that I have
but the truth of the matter is none of that may happen because
tomorrow is uncertain. In James chapter four verses
thirteen and fourteen, James says that go to now ye that say
today or tomorrow, we will go away and continue their year
by and sell and get gain, whereas he no not shall be on the morrow."
These were men who they were planning out their lives. They
were planning out their year, what they were going to do. But
they were not including God in their plans. And James is reminding
them, hey, you don't know what's going to happen tomorrow. Much less what's going to happen
in 6 months or a year. Again, it is right, it is proper,
it is good to make plans. We ought to do that. We would
consider it to be foolish to not make plans. Let us remember
tomorrow is uncertain. We don't know what's going to
happen. We don't know what kind of phone call we're going to
get this evening or tomorrow morning or in the middle of the
night. We don't know what's going to happen to disrupt our plans. So tomorrow is not certain. Number four, and this is the
one that I added, feelings and emotions. follow your emotions, follow
your feelings. And yet, how many lives have
been destroyed because people did just that. They followed
their emotions. And in the midst of a of a passionate
moment, in the midst of a strong feeling, when feelings overwhelm
the mind and we're not thinking clearly and we Jeremiah chapter 17 verse number
9 the Bible says the heart is deceitful and deftly wicked. Who can know it? My heart is deceitful. My heart deceives me and tricks
me. I cannot know the true depth
of my own heart and neither can you. Only God can know. And so no, it is not a good thing
and it's not a wise thing to follow my heart. Because what's
going to happen is today this is what I want. And then when
I come tomorrow I'm going to be like, you know, that's not
what I wanted. I wanted this instead. And so I'm going to
go after this because this is what I'm feeling, this is where
my emotions are. And so I'm going to chase after
this and then I'm going to wake up again the next day and that's
not what I wanted. And when I'm following my emotions,
when I'm following my heart, I'm not thinking very clearly. And we all either know someone
or maybe we have been to someone who has followed our hearts,
followed our emotions and woke up one day and realized that
they were not trustworthy, that they were not certain. So instead,
Solomon tells us in 2 Proverbs chapter 3, if you want to take
your Bibles, turn to the 3rd chapter of the book of Proverbs.
And while you're turning there, I'm going to go back and read
another verse, and that's in Proverbs 19 verse 21. It says,
there are many devices in a man's heart. Nevertheless, the counsel
of the Lord, that shall stand. There are many devices in a man's
heart. My heart goes back and forth. My heart has many different opinions,
many different desires, many different thoughts. And those
can become quite confusing as they confluence one another,
as they're fighting for preeminence in my own life. the council of the lord. That
shall stand. What god says, that shall stand. And so, what I need to do instead
of following my emotions, I need to set my emotions aside and
I need to see what the word of god says. If you follow the third
chapter of the book of Proverbs, Proverbs chapter three, I'll
begin reading verse number five. Solomon, the wisest man to ever
live, with all thine heart. Solomon,
who had played the part of the fool in his own life, had come
to the realization that he could not follow his own emotions.
He could not depend upon himself. And so he says now, trust in
the Lord with all thine heart. Lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him. and he shall direct thy path.
Be not wise in thine own eyes, fear the Lord and be part of
thy Lord. So Solomon is telling us to trust
the Lord with all of my heart. So I can't trust God with most
of my heart and then trust myself with all of my heart because
that's just gonna create a problem. I need to trust the Lord with
all of my heart. He says, don't lean unto your
own understanding. Because when I'm leaning on my
own understanding, that's a weak wall that's going to fall. So instead of leaning on my understanding,
I need to lean on God. I need to lean on that which
is absolute. I need to lean on that which
is true. That which changes not. The same would apply to not leaning
on other people. To not leaning on the world.
but I'm following the current opinion of society today. That changes quite often. It
changes just as much as the weather does, just as much as our finances
change, up and down, as the world goes. And so not to lean upon
ourselves, but rather to trust the Lord. Life is uncertain. We have younger
people here today. And you think you're going to
live for a long time. I know, so you're probably hoping
that one day you'll be as old as your dad is. And I can say
that I'm older than your dad. When we're young, we think we're
going to live forever. Again, the book of James chapter
four and verse fourteen. He says, for what is your life?
It is even a vapor that appear for a little time and then vanish
it away. A vapor. A mist. Here in Scotland, you guys are
quite familiar with a mist or with a fog and uh sometimes it's
here for just a moment and then it disappears. It's gone. our
lives are here for just a moment. Even if we get to live to be
70 or 90 and also something about a hundred and two-year-old lady
earlier this morning who is tandem skydiving. I'm not going skydiving
if I make it to a hundred and two. But even that lady who lives
to be a hundred and two, her life is but a labor. It's very
short. It's very brief. Sometimes we have time to prepare
for an individual's death. Sometimes we have no time to
prepare. It can be a relative who's been
sick for quite some time and we know that the end is near. Every time there's a phone call
in the middle of the night, someone had a heart attack and died.
Someone was involved in a car accident and didn't survive.
And so sometimes we don't get to prepare. The year that I graduated
high school, three of my classmates unexpectedly died in motorcycle
or vehicle accidents. There was no time to prepare.
These were young men, 18 years old, cut down at 18, and their
lives snuffed out. One of the young men I was in
school with, his brother was in the third grade, so eight,
nine years old, and he's outside playing baseball with a friend,
and he's pitching, and his friend's hitting. His friend hits the
baseball, and the ball hits him in the sternum, breaks the rib
cage, and pierces his heart, and he died immediately. life is uncertain. Some people
live long lives. Some people live short lives.
But none of us, none of us are promised tomorrow. Life, my friends,
is uncertain. So, those are quickly five things
that are uncertain. will focus their lives on those
five uncertain things. Those are the things that will
control, that will dominate their lives. Those are the things that
they will pursue and follow after. The Lord Jesus Christ shared
a parable in the gospels. Of people who build their lives
upon that which is uncertain. He calls it sin. compared to
those who build their lives upon that which is certain, called
that the right. And when the storms come, and
it beats upon the house that is built upon the sand, the house
falls, and great is the fall of it. And yet when the same
storm comes, and it beats upon the house, When the same storm comes and
it beats upon the house that is built upon the rock, and that
rock is the Lord Jesus Christ, it stands, it remains, it does
not collapse. One of the things that I see
in that parable is that it points out that even Christians face
the same storms that the lost people face. Being a Christian
doesn't mean that we're not gonna have difficulties. It doesn't
mean that we're gonna be immune to diseases or death or tragedy
or great sorrow. It doesn't mean that we're not
going to have great difficulties in our lives. But when our life
is built upon the right, that which is certain, compared to
the sand, that which is uncertain, that makes the world of a devil. And so, I want to encourage you
as we move on from five things that are uncertain onto the four
things that are certain. Let us build our lives upon that
which is certain. that which is absolute so that
when the storms come, we can stand because we're built upon
the foundation. Four things that are certain. Number one, the word of God. What God says is certain. Now,
all of us have experienced us something only to find out
that what they told us wasn't true or finding out that they
were not going to keep their promise. They were going to conveniently
change their mind and they were going to conveniently find a
way out of what they had committed to and now we find it difficult
to trust people like The word of god, ladies and gentlemen,
is absolute. It is always true and it does
not change. When god gives us his word, we
do not have to worry about him changing what he said. And I am so thankful the Bible
that I have, the Bible that I read every morning does not change. I don't read it one day and that
I'm encouraged and I'm blessed by what I read and then several
months later, I'll come back and I'll read those same verses
again and they're not there or they've changed and they they
mean something different now. I'm glad the word of god does
not do that. changes quite a bit. You can
read one article today and it'll tell you how bad coffee is for
you and you can come back in 6 months and you can read a letter
that tells you how good coffee is or you can read that butter
is not good for you or eggs are not good for you and and it just
changes back to the word. The word of god does not change
in Titus chapter one verse two and hope of come before the world began.
Ladies and gentlemen, God cannot lie. You and I can lie. You and
I have almost lied because all of us have told a lie in one
way or another. But God is incapable of lying. In Proverbs chapter 30 verse
number 5, every word of God is pure. There is nothing in the
word of God that is not pure, that is not true, that is not
right, that is not holy. Every bit of God's word is pure. Psalm 119 verse 89. Forever, O Lord, thy word is
settled in heaven. When the word of God is settled,
that means it's not going to change. It doesn't mean to change. Nothing needs to be added. Nothing
needs to be taken away. It is settled. In John 17 verse
17, Jesus said, sanctify them through thy truth. Thy word is
truth. The word of God is truth. There
is no lie. There is no error in the word
of God. Matthew 5 verse 18. The word
of god, ladies and gentlemen, is absolute. It is certain. It
does not change. It never will change. First Peter
chapter one verses twenty-four and twenty-five. and all the glory of man as a
flower of grass. The grass wither, and the flower
thereof falleth away. But the word of the Lord endureth
forever. I am so thankful that the word
of God endures forever. And when I'm facing difficulties
today, I can open up my Bible, and I can read it, and I can
get the help that I need. I can get the instruction that
I need. When I'm going through difficulties and I need some
wisdom and I need some direction, I can go to God in prayer and
I can ask him to help me. I can ask him to show me what
to do. I can open up the Bible and I can get the help that I
need. And when I come back tomorrow, I can do the same thing. When
I come back in a week or a month, I can do the same thing. because
it doesn't change. And I don't have to worry that
maybe today it's not going to work for me. I don't have to
worry that maybe today it's not going to have the answers that
I need. It is certain. I can't say that about any person
I know. I can't say that about all the
other books I read. I can't say that when I turn
the TV on and listen to the news. I can't say that when I'm scrolling
through social media. Because all of that changes. The Word of God does not change.
I can build my life upon that truth. The Word of God does not
change. Number two. Something that is
certain, something that does not change is the love of God. The love of God does not change. Human love changes because people
change. But God's love does not change. Love can be difficult to accept
or to comprehend. Because the way that people love
is often self-motivated or motivated by selfishness. But God's love
is beautiful and it is always for my best interest, always
for your best. God is not loving you from an
angle to get something from you. He is loving you because that's
what he does. That's who he is. God is love. His love is always pure. John
3, 16. For God so loved the world that
the word of purpose. He so loved the world that he
gave his only begotten son. that whosoever believeth in him
should not perish, but have everlasting life. Romans chapter 5 verse
8, when God commended, He demonstrated His love toward us in that while
we were One of my favorite hymns is the
song called The Love of God. It goes like this, and I'm gonna
read it. Don't worry, I do not sing. I
sing solos, so low that you can't hear me. And I sing tenor, ten
or 15 miles away, okay? So I'm not gonna sing. I'm gonna
read you these words. The love of God is greater far
than palm or pen can ever tell. They go beyond the highest star
and reach you to the lowest hell. The guilty pair bow down with
care. God gave His Son to live. His
erring child He reconciled and pardoned from His sins. When
gory times shall pass away, and earthly thrones and kingdoms
fall, when men who here refuse to pray, on rocked hills and
mountains, all measureless and strong, redeeming
grace to Adam's race, the saints' and angels' song. Could we, with
ink the ocean fill, and were the skies and parchments made,
were every stalk on earth a quill, and every man a scribe by trade,
to write the love of God above would drain the ocean dry, nor
could the scroll contain the whole, though stretched So, the Lord says this. Oh, love
of god. How rich and pure. How measureless
and strong. It shall forever endure the saints
and angels song. The love of god. And you and
I are oftentimes the recipients of god's love and don't even
how wonderful it is that you and I can have a relationship
with him and to know his love, to know that he loves you and
it will not change. Go back in your mind when you
were just a little child and you're at school and you've got
your best friend and you come to school the next day. Well,
they've got a new best friend. And they've forgotten all about
you. And you've got that boyfriend, or you've got that girlfriend.
And you have vouched your love for one another. And you've carved
your name in a tree with a heart. And you've declared to this individual,
I love you. Six weeks later, you break up. You don't love that person anymore.
While you moved on, you found someone else. The love of God
doesn't do that. He loved you before he forged
you. And he still loves you. And he
loved you so much that he died for you. God's love is certain. Number three, things that are
certain. Two more to go, number three.
the gift of god. The gift of god. God has offered each one of us
a gift. I hope that you have received
that gift. If you haven't, then today can
be the day that you receive the gift. give you something. So long as
you make them happy. So long as they still like you,
you can keep the gift. But if you make them mad, if
you stop being their friend, they're gonna take that gift
from you. My wife introduced me to a phrase 24 years ago. Uh that's called an Indian giver. Someone who gives and takes back.
And I guess that was a practice of Native Americans, the Indians
in America. They would give gifts, and only
to take them back from you. Friends, that's not what God
does. God offers a gift, and it is an eternal gift. We've already read John 3, verse
16. For God so loved the world that
he gave. In Romans chapter 6, verse number
23, We read the verse, for the wages of sin is death, but the
gift of God eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. There's
a contrast there between wages and gifts. Wages are what I earn. When I work a job and my boss
comes to me and hands me my paycheck, he doesn't say, hey, here's a
gift for you. Because it's not a gift, it's
what I've earned. It is my wages, it is my income. And what I have earned because
of my sin is death. An eternal reservation, an awful
place called hell. That's what I deserve, that's
what I have coming to me. But the gift of God is eternal
life. Now, a gift is not something
that I earn. A gift is not something that
I deserve. It could be that as we're getting
closer to Christmas, that parents will often tell their children,
listen, you better behave if you want any gifts for Christmas.
Truth of the matter is we're going to buy them a gift whether
they behave or not because we're their parents. We love them and
so we want to give them a gift. They didn't earn them, they don't
deserve them, they give them because we love them. And so
the wages of sin, what I've heard, is death, but the gift of God
is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Ephesians chapter
2 verses 8-9 says, For by grace are ye saved through faith, and
that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works,
lest any man should boast. There will never be an individual
who stands before God in heaven and is able to extol all of their
virtues, able to explain to God why they deserve to be in heaven. They won't be able to talk about
getting baptized and because I was baptized, I deserve to
go to heaven. They won't be able to say that
I joined a church and because I joined this church, I deserve
to go to heaven. They won't be able to say, I
did all of these good things. I gave to charity. I helped people. I kept the ten commandments.
I was a good person. I deserve to be in heaven. There's not a single person who
will ever be able to do that. Those that will spend all eternity
in heaven will be there because they received a gift. A gift that cannot be taken back. A gift that cannot be undone. A gift that is out of absolutely
certain. Have you received the gift of
salvation? Has there been a time in your
life when you realize that you as an individual or a sinner
lost and on your way to hell and you repented of your sin
and you placed your faith in Jesus Christ, Can I tell you this morning?
That God is not willing that any should perish. It is not
God's will for anyone to die in their sin and go to hell.
But rather, it is His will that all would repent, that all would
receive that gift. But He'll not force anyone to
receive the gift. Imagine it's Christmas Day. and
everyone has opened their gifts. But yet there's still one gift
that remains under the Christmas tree. And it has your name on
it. That gift is for you. But until
you take that gift, and until you unwrap it, and until you
open that gift and accept it as yours, then it's not become
your gift. It's there. And so, Jesus Christ has paid
for the gift of salvation for each and every one of you. But until you receive Christ
as your savior, then you don't have the gift. And if you were
to die in your sin today, although the gift has been paid for, then
you die without the gift and you spend all of eternity There's a story told of a man
back in the 1800s who was homeless. He walked the streets of America,
poor, looking for a place to live, looking for food to eat,
hardly had any clothes to cover himself. The one thing he possessed,
the one thing that just thrilled his soul, was a piece of paper
with the autograph of President Abraham the United States of America.
And he loved the fact that he held this piece of paper and
it was signed by Abraham Lincoln. The man died homeless, poor,
and as they were going through his belongings, they found this
piece of paper that had Abraham The man didn't know what he had. And what it was was a check.
He had served in the Army, and he had a check with enough money
to take care of all his needs. But he never took it to the bank.
He had never cashed the check. And so it was worthless to him.
And there'll be many who have the opportunity they're taken to the back. They'll
never turn from their sin and ask Christ to save them. Thus,
missing out on something in life that is certain and that is the
gift of god. The last thing this evening this
morning that we see that is certain. If you wouldn't take your Bibles
and turn to Deuteronomy chapter number eleven. Deuteronomy The judgment of god is certain. We see that in Deuteronomy chapter
number eleven. God is speaking to the children
of Israel preparing them for uh going into the promised land
and establishing this covenant relationship with them. Deuteronomy
eleven beginning with verse twenty-six. Behold, I set before you this
day a blessing and a curse. A blessing if you obey the commandment
of the lord your So, God is promising a blessing
or a curse. They can choose which one they want. their choice comes to either
their obedience to the commands of God or their disobedience
to the commands of God. Obedience from a blessing, disobedience
from a cursing, or punishment. And as Christians, we love the
promises of God. So long as they're the good ones,
so long as they're the ones that we enjoy. But as I said earlier,
the word of God is absolute. and what god has said will come
to pass. And so, when we claim the promises
of god, we claim the good ones and the bad ones. Because they're
all true. The judgment of god, ladies and
gentlemen, is certain. John chapter three verse sixteen
again, for god so loved the world that he gave his only begotten
son that whosoever believed in him should not perish but have
everlasting life. Verse 17 goes on and says, For
God said not to send unto the world to condemn the world, but
that the world through him might be saved. Verse 18, He that believeth
on him, he that receives the gift of salvation, is not condemned,
but he that believeth not, is condemned already. because he hath not believed
in the name of the only begotten Son of God. Friend, what that
verse just said, verse number 18, he that believeth not is
condemned all the ground. Not my words, but the words of
the Lord Jesus Christ. If you have not received the
gift of salvation, then right now, at this very moment, you
are condemned. You have been found guilty by
God and have been sentenced to hell. However, because you're
still alive, and because you're hearing the Gospel preached and
because the Holy Spirit is working in your heart, you can go from
being condemned to being set free. That can change this side
of death. There is no person who's ever
said, well, you know, I've not been perfect. Nobody's perfect
after all. And I've done some wrong things
and I've sinned and I've broken the law. But you know, when I
die and when I stand before God, I'm going to be able to talk
to him. And God is going to understand.
And God is going to accept me for who I am. Ladies and gentlemen,
that is not true. That is not certain. That is
absolutely uncertain. He that believeth not is condemned. The only way to go, that your
sins are forgiven, and that your one is better all the trinity
receive the gift of salvation today in this life. And we already understand this
morning that tomorrow is not promised. So, don't put it off
and say, I'll get saved tomorrow. I'll get saved this evening.
I'll get saved later in life. Because we don't know that we
have tomorrow. We only know that we have this
very moment. So today, right now, you can
go from being uncertain of where you're gonna spend all eternity
to being absolutely certain that you're going to spend all eternity
in heaven. Not because of how good you are,
but because of how great God is. Because Jesus Christ died
for your sins. He paid the price for you and
he offers you the free gift of salvation. And you can be certain
that you'll spend all eternity in heaven because the word of
god is certain. And because what god has promised
will come to pass. For whosoever shall call upon
the name of the lord shall I am convinced beyond the shadow
of doubt, just as the apostle Paul was persuaded, that when
I die, I will spend all eternity in heaven. Not because I'm good,
because I'm not. But because as a young teenage
boy, I repented of my sins, and I asked Jesus Christ to save
me. Now, will you build your life
on that which is uncertain, but when you build your life on that
which is certain. I'm going to pray. Let's turn
it over to Pastor Schwartz. I trust my Holy Spirit is spoken
to your heart today, that you're responding to him. Father, we
thank you so much for your goodness. We thank you for your love. Lord,
we're so thankful that in a world of uncertainty, that there are
some very important things that are certain. and we can build
more lives upon this crucifixion of the word of God. Lord, I pray
that if the Holy Spirit speaks to our hearts even right now,
that if there is one here that does not know Christ as their
Savior, that they would turn from their sin and place their
faith in you. Lord, make it a Christian here
this morning for them to build in their lives upon that which
is uncertain. would they would they turn back
to you to build their life upon our church and more thank you
for what you'll do. We ask this all in the wonderful
name of Jesus Christ. Amen. I just want to ask a question
about we have invitation. Um you know, as as he's preaching
and sharing guys, we're we're opportunity to respond but if
that's you this morning and and you know for sure because it
is absolutely certain that the judgments coming as was preached
that if you die today because life's not certain you don't
know um certainly there's many people that pass away unexpectedly
and we wish everybody a long and happy life um but life's
uncertain and so if in your heart you know right now if I died
I would go to hell because I've never put my trust in that we
would plead with you today, we would encourage you to not put
off Christ. And it is certain that Jesus
wants to save you, it is certain that he has the power to save
you, that his death is sufficient for your salvation. So I just
want to ask that question this morning. Is God speaking to you
about salvation? Do you want to get saved today?
If you know for sure that you're on your way to hell, would you
like to respond? I'm just encouraging you by way
of uplifted hand just to raise your hand and say, Pastor, that's
me. I need to get saved. I need to
settle in it. You know, we may think somebody's
saved, or maybe not know. We don't necessarily know the
heart of everybody that's here, and there could very likely be
somebody that's lost and not saved. And if that's you today,
and you want to get saved, would you just indicate that by uplifted
hand? Anybody like that today? Say, I need to get saved. I know
I need to get saved, and I want to get saved today. And then as believers, again,
anybody this morning, say you have a pastor or someone that
says he's preaching, I'm living my life for riches, or I'm living
my life for things that, you know, they don't really matter,
because they're not certain. But I'm not really living my
life for the Word of God. Anybody about that this morning?
Just say, God, speak to me about that. I really need to live my
life, return all things. Amen, let's see that hand. Anybody
else today? Just say, God, speak to me about
that. I need to live my life, build my life on things that
are real, things that last, things that are eternal. Amen, let's
go forward in prayer. Father, we thank you for your
grace to us. And Father, if there is somebody
this morning that in their heart, they're struggling with it, they
know, you know, they're not saved, they need Jesus Christ, they
didn't raise their hand, is so that they can know for
sure that they died and went into heaven. And so we pray for
their salvation. And if I don't get this one,
one can raise their hand. Instead of trusting God, trusting
my emotions, trusting my feelings, trusting my will. May the Spirit
of God continue to speak to our hearts and God give us grace
to really do it to you today. It's in Christ's name we pray.
