Even in the age of the Apostles, false religion was already infecting the Christian church. The Apostle Paul provided the means of identifying it, and especially of marking the makeshift fashion in which it is constructed. The Reformers returned to Paul's themes, and with them, they exposed afresh the rottenness of Romanism.
